Dennis gets first dibs. Same the other way around.
Dennis sees something Richard can flip that he doesn't want or have the time or space to restore gives Richard the tip. Plus a friendly finders fee.
If the Vette or the Charger or the Cuda or the pace car turned out to numbers matching running big block or officially used pace car holly Grail Dennis can make back what he paid for all eight on two of the cars.
What you want for the Holy Grail Mopar is the 500, 4spd,rag top. That's worth & 150-200K.
Most often people bought the base 318 which will give you plenty of git up and go and later on eighties, nineties, some wrench tuner buys them in a garage. Four flats, no battery, hasn't run in 15 years. Takes it home to his shop goes through it and swaps out for the big block, cleaned up inside and out.
It's desirable still. 30 G maybe 45. What you hope you found is the numbers matching unrestored big block four spd that someone didn't know what they had.
But that's like saying when playing poker you want a Royal Flush.

Richard is amazing at finding these sorts of things, and at getting a good price for them on both ends of the deal. Dennis has the right crew for bringing them back to functional and useful, and that is where his margin is often made. I guarantee you that $250,000 worth will turn into $400,000 plus once he is done with it all.

@@richardmorris7063 Yes, there is much more if you put the time and effort into it. Dennis has a crew that do exactly that and really turn things out well. They find all the value. Richard is very good at finding these deals and getting himself into it at a good price. Gas Monkey group can turn out some interesting cars, but Richard's real skill is buying them cheaper and selling them high enough to make a very good living.
I'm sure Dennis is thinking double up minimum going into the deal

Lots of people don't realize if it truly wasn't for Dennis there really wouldn't be a gas monkey garage from what I've seen over the years. That silver Corvette, blue Challenger with white interior and that red Barracuda I think would go for 80 thousand at auction or very near if he cleaned them up and went through everything so that right there would be 240,000. just for those three so I think he did well,never mind that he had 5 other cars that were great to sell, that pace car that was confirmed genuine was big dollar car for sure so he made his money back and then some, I wouldn’t be surprised if he made over 500,000 conservatively but I think considerably more

Great video as always. Back in about 1975 or 76 I was about 16 years old and owned a 1970 Cuda convertible mine was lemon twist yellow with a black top and interior it had the 340 with the hockey stick decal on the sides. good memories.thanks for putting these videos out for us to enjoy

I had a chance to buy the same exact Camaro pace car in 1973 for $250.00 it had a caved in quarter panel.
Oh don't get me started the cars I didn't have money for and ones I traded in on new ones. Traded my 71 duster twister 340 3 speed floor shift original no rust sublime green heartbeat city album cover.and 71 dart sport no rust. Traded both in on new 82 S-10 likely beer cans now both Plymouths still around. Saw Duster at local main Street car show. Guy turned down the $20 k my girlfriend offered still original like day I sold it. Not perfect but made me sick. I've seen dart around on summer days it's been restored.
I personally think Dennis came out on top. Richard should’ve did some investigating on those cars before he sold them that 69 Camaro big block is very rare. I’m sure he got over 100 grand for that car. Keep it up Dennis. 👍 love your channel 💯

How cool is that, I know where that pace car came from. I live in Crawfordsville Indiana our Chevy dealer at that time was Herman Davis and I probably saw there at his place when I was 7 yrs old. Awesome.
