That manometer looks a lot like the gauges we use on the paint booths at work to measure air flow (or lack thereof) across the filters. The pickup goes in the ducting between the filters and the blower motor. The more the filters get clogged, the higher the indicator reads, as the pressure between the filters and the blower drops.

Manometer. Measures pressure and flow simultaneously. Imagine a large bakery like a wonder bread factory. Bulk flower is kept in silo outside. Air is used to "pump" the flower through pipes into the mixer. If no flow and high pressure, than the flower is clogging and not transferring. High flow no pressure indicates it powder is not transferring or feeding, maybe empty. You have to have a balanced flow and pressure to transfer a powder through a pipe. This is just 1 industrial use of the manometer.

The manometer is used in measuring the draw on a paint booth. One of the hoses goes behind the filter and one in the booth and the meter gauges the draw on the filters. As the filters get clogged, the red fluid that goes in the meter, moves up the gauge. There should be a red and a green arrow in the kit also. When the booth is running with clean filters you place the green arrow where the red fluid is resting. As the booth is used and you feel that the draw is getting less, you place the red arrow at the red fluid mark. This is a gauge to show when to change your filters. Only been painting at the same shop for 41 years, so I doubt I know what I’m talking about.. 😂

Series Mark II Molded Manometers are of the inclined and inclined-vertical types. The curved inclined-vertical tube of the Model 25 gage provides higher ranges with more easily read increments at low readings. The Model 25 is excellent for general purpose work. The Model 40 inclined gage provides linear calibration and excellent resolution throughout its range. The Model 40 is ideally suited for air velocity and air filter gage applications. Both gage types are capable of pressure measurements above and below atmospheric as well as differential pressure measurements. Included with each Mark II manometer are two tubing connectors for 1/8" pipe or sheet metal ducts, two mounting screws, 1 ounce bottle of indicating fluid, red and green pointer flags and complete instructions.
The Model 25 also includes 8' of flexible double column plastic tubing. Portable operation of the Model 25 is made possible by the use of the optional A-612 portable stand. A short piece of tubing can be slipped over the Model 25 pressure connections to contain the gage fluid in transit.
The Model 40 contains two 4-1/2' lengths of clear plastic tubing, a plastic swing-out stand and leveling screw for portable operation. It also features convenient rapid shutoff pressure connections and integral overpressure safety traps. See the Support Library tab for Safety Data Sheets.

Yes, a manometer is there for measuring a man. In metric. Because otherwise it would be a manoyard. 😂😁😜

Inches of Water Column - HG . I use these as an HVACR Tech, although most are digital now. My applications were for static pressure readings in heating and air ductwork and you can use them to read gas pressures for propane and natural gas ( but that would not be my first choice of tools for it).

We use those manometers in our spray booths at a factory i used to work at to watch the vent flow I do believe. It's been awhile

My grandmother (God rest her soul) used to buy Pears soap religiously... I still remember the smell, distinctly. 😉
And I'm wondering if the soap was meant as bandsaw lube as well ? 🤔

The manometer is to sync carbs. I had a old 850 Suzuki that had 4 carbs on it and if you clean them or adjust them you have to make sure they're all pulling the same when you twist the throttle. The tool is nice I never had one. I just got some tubing and put some 2 cycle oil in it. Basically if the fluid went to one of the carbs, that carb was pulling harder. If it stayed in the middle they were pulling the same. I always used 2 cycle oil so if I was way wrong it wouldn't be too bad if the fluid got sucked into the motor.

The meter is commonly used in paint booths. However if you’re patient and give it some attention you can use one to balance carbs and mechanical injectors.

Manometer is for measuring engine blow-by. I used one just this week on a diesel iT4 engine with excessive engine blow-by.

A manometer is a measuring instrument that measures the pressure of a fluid or gas in a confined space, for example in a boiler. A manometer indicates the pressure relative to the atmospheric pressure.

Hi Mike, I commented recently on your pronunciation of Arran In Scotland.
Mike Fermi Just put up a Drive Tribe Video where he takes Richard Hammonds 500 bhp Impreza for a shake down on the Isle of Arran and rips it up.
    Funny coincidence.
Keep up all the great content dude!
