Theo was good but did you watch his new Netflix special? It was awful lol I couldn't even watch the whole thing. A couple chuckles but mainly just recycled jokes and overusing the same delivery to the point it was predictable. Bummed me out because I think he's a great dude, esp when he's interacting with people

@@11BscoutNG I think Theo sounds really original if you don't hang out with any hicks, particularly southeastern US ones. Don't get me wrong I love Theo, but to me his style is mostly a more clever/quick-witted and absurdist brand of the kind of humor I get when I hang out with my cousins that live in Kentucky.
Wow, I'm old. I had no idea this guy was now a stand up comedian. I remember him from MTV's Road Rules in like the early 2000's. Good for him to still be relevant so many years later!

As another dude from south Louisiana listening to Theo is much like listening to my buddies. I’m as self deprecating and (hopefully) as charmingly southern as they come but Theo’s got me beat.
Theo first showed up on my radar as a young man when he was in the cast of the “reality show” Road Rules on MTV. He wasn’t a professional comedian yet, but he was funny, and probably the most memorable person on that show.
he was on that night, didnt miss a beat, ive heard him tell like three versions of this same story but he really killed it on this one

There’s a great compilation on YT of Theo Von making Joe Rogan crack up (no pun intended). It’s hysterical...Theo’s brain just works differently.
I watched him live in STL and he told a story about his legless tinder date when he was high. He’s one of my favorite comedians of all time.
The way is brain works is fascinating. I love clips of him on podcasts.

Yes! On Joey Diaz's podcast he said he was wearing sweatpants with jeans over them, and I think that's actually what he meant to say here too. He's definitely got on jeans in the picture but his legs look thick 😂

Yea Theo's great in conversation. Much like Tim Dillion. I'm not really interested in either of their stand up, but they're both just naturally funny in conversation and very quick witted. On the other hand, I heard Louis CK in conversation and it wasn't great, but his stand up is incredible. Then there are monsters like Bill Burr who are hilarious in convo and in stand up.

@@k4ir0s I absolutely agree. There are so many different veins for comedians to take to show how funny they really are. One thing I would disagree with would be that I think Bill Burr's stand up is wayyy better than his convo. Just my opinion.

"Podcasts having a negative effect on someone's comedy": Presumably because you've heard the story already on the podcast? Which may be true, but overall I think he is actually funnier on podcasts because most of what he says is improvised and his mind just works differently than anyone else's. His standup can be incredibly funny as well--like the bit about getting beat up by a gang of black guys in total darkness--but overall I think he's a better storyteller and improviser than pure joke writer.
He’s 100x funnier on podcast because it’s completely random. The stuff that comes to his brain in any given situation is the most hilarious part.
I feel the same way about Tom Segura. Im kinda of a new fan of Tom, i just got into his stuff like about 3months ago. And i have not seen alot of his standup, but i really like The whole yomomshouse podcast. Segura is really funny on those podcasts and I feel like he is really better at doin those than standup, not saying his standup aint funny.
@@Tero92 only 3 months Into is stand up.. says a lot. His podcast is 1 thing.. .. but Tom Segura is a stand up comedian first.. a Podcaster second. If you listen to podcasts for 2 hrs.. at least look up his multiple Netflix specials where he does written comedy 🤣

I think it was Seinfeld on the Smartless Podcast, where he said if you a young comedian, he doesn't recommend you doing a podcast. Wasting too much material.
Now I get it that some use it to build a niche market of fans, who become almost like groupies. Which is fine if that's your goal, etc. But, if you are trying to become a great it's not something he would recommend.
