This is a real story that he turned into a bit. The movie “Van Wilder” is actually based on Burt. Rolling Stone magazine wrote an article about him and named him the #1 party animal in America
I wonder how much A-lister Ryan Reynolds(Deadpool) gave him for it after he realized they stole it [Intectual Property].
The movie is actually based on the rolling stones article and he was told not to make a fuss or try sue because in the celeb world that ruins careers even if you win money in settlement

Bert was such a living legend in college that people in colleges all over the u.s had heard of him lol. They would call and send letters trying to get him to come down to their frat parties LOL
You forget to mention that his hijinks became well known because of a magazine article about him which led to Will Smith offering him a contract. Ultimately this led to a movie loosely based on his partying called Van Wilder starring Ryan Reynolds.

Bert had a massive Rolling Stone write up covering this experience. It led to his current career in comedy. He also hosts a podcast with the legendary Tom Segura called 2 Bears, 1 Cave.
BTW, Tom deserves multiple reaction videos of his own. His "First 48" and "Bikes" bits are genius.

Bert has a plethora of great bits. Flying Dildos, Daughters, Let's Talk About Black People, Skydiving with Rachel Ray, etc... You can't go wrong. Though Flying Dildos is a story about another trip while he was in college.
His most recent special on netflix is fucking brilliant too!
Yeah he goes into more detail on podcasts about the story of stealing the boat and how he actually did party with the cops and was terrified because they had zero concern for breaking laws or being too crazy. Some Russians I know actually said he was basically an urban legend in Russia and when this hit youtube people there finally knew who the stories were about.

I'm glad Dave knew that this originated from the JRE podcast years ago. Fun how a quick ~6 minute story told in a spare room at Rogans house has turned into one of the most reacted to bits on YT. And speaking of old clips from the podcast.... Bert's story about meeting Tracy Morgan is great as well.

Absolutely love seeing new reactions to this. In another telling of this, he claims that when he was doing the pool hall scam, he was stealing the Tom Cruise moves from that scene in The Color of Money (you know, the swinging the cue like a samurai sword thing?) and the mob guys were staring at each other like he's some sort of amazing maniac -- because they'd never even _heard_ of the movie. Or Tom Cruise.

i know how it feels to be outcasted by language. i went to a deaf school where 98% of the people there only signed and were Deaf. it was very hard trying to adapt. luckily i could type a message for communication.
Outcast is a poor choice of word in this lol outside of that school deaf people are actually outcasted by language everywhere they go. Not many hearing people at all know asl or even the alphabet

When military, the first time I went to Thailand, for a joint exercise (1987), almost NONE of the Thai's spoke any English. It was weird as hell, for days! We couldn't understand them, and they couldn't understand us! The exercise was not going well, bc of this, and both sides FINALLY brought in guys who could translate. Of course, we all got along very well besides that, even telling jokes, using nothing but hand gestures, pantomiming, and acting. It turned out to be a whole lot of fun! The Thai's told us later that they think Americans are crazy! Really crazy! They're right!
The only thing he doesn't talk about is how his friend was with him. He left him out of the bit. He mentions him on JRE or whatever podcast the story was first told on.

The second part of this story is lesser told, and not actually a bit of his. But he did in fact end up partying with those cops in Russia. They turned out to be twice as crazy as the banditti, letting Bert drive their cruiser and shoot their service pistols while all of them were drunk, and getting so outlandish that Bert actually felt unsafe and had to ditch them.

Nit sure if you guys know this, but when he was in college he was legit in like Time Magazine as like “The biggest party guy in America” or something of that sort, and I think that’s where he started being called The Machine if I’m. If mistaken. Also, I don’t think this is “just a bit” lik Dave tried saying at the beginning, it’s an actual story from what I understand. I’m sure sine if it is exaggerated a bit to make it interesting, but I’m sure some of this actually happened. But yeah, that’s actually where he got his first taste of fame was actually in college for being like the Biggest Partier or whatever lol.
