I worked at a thrift store when I was 17 with a woman that had Tourette’s. She mostly said “beep beep” all the time. But she also did say other things.
One day years later I was at the grocery store and I heard in the distance “beep beep” and it was her!

Tom has been an awesome teaching tool. I had my son watch Tom so the day I turned 61 he would know what it's going be like when he had to take his mother out in public, and just like Tom, she will have ZERO FILTER!😅😅😅
I used to live with a girl who was American but grew up in the Dominican Republic. She spoke perfect english and perfect Dominican spanish. She talked in her sleep regularly BUT it was in some Asian language. I don't know if it was actually a language because I don't speak it but it did not sound like a lazy imitation. It sounded like Chinese or Vietnamese. It was just like listening to someone who spoke that language talk on the phone.
This was way before cell phones and on the few times that I tried to get out of bed to get something to record her, my getting out of bed woke her up and she stopped. She used to get angry at me because she thought I was messing with her. She would wake up and tell me the exact dream that she was having, which had nothing to do with being Asian or having any Asian person in it but, she would be talking in her sleep in an Asian language.
There was a African American kid in the US that hit his head and woke up and only speaks fluent Spanish 🤯 and he never took a class

An explanation on the first disability, they aren't speaking a foreign language, or even a foreign language accent. What's happening is they are having difficulty enunciating words similar to those of the foreign language accent they sound like. So if a language struggles with, say, "r' s" in their language, and the head trauma makes it difficult for them to pronounce "r's", then they will sound similar enough to that foreign language for our minds to make that distinction.

I know a woman (American) who learned to speak fluent German and then moved to Germany. One day she was riding her horse & she fell off and had some kind of head trauma. For a couple of days, she couldn't understand English; only German. She was on the phone with her mom here in the Midwest, and she knew that she SHOULD be able to understand her mom, but she couldn't.

Most with foreign accent syndrome doesn't really have a foreign accent. It just kinda sound like it, and people who hear it fill in the blanks.
I know a guy who has foreign accent syndrome, he is a Floridian with a French Canadian accent 😂

I have a black friend who was born and raised in China and has a thick Chinese accent. He gets pooped on so much its sad and funny.
I know that I posted this comment a while back but when I woke up in ICU after surgery from being shot in the chest, I heard my mum, the doctor speaking in English but , on ventilator, unable to speak, thinking in German and I had only taken German for 3 years to satisfy the foreign language requirement for University. It was weird.
To this day, decades later, I don't speak German. I am able to understand a bit and a little of Spanish, being raised in California, a tiny bit of Italian, but that's about it. It was a very strange experience.

if an englishman woke up from a coma and could only speak german, it's not that he had german hidden in his brain or dna from birth or something, it just means that whatever german he was capable of became his primary langauge after the coma for however long. how unscientific some of you guys think is a bit disturbing sometimes lol
