  • Help maintain your air gun by keeping dirt and pellet lead particles out of the hammer spring and compression port where the real maintenance damage takes place. Dr. Russ is working on a solution that helps keep your barrel down and the dirt and lead particles falling away from these special pneumatic parts.

I tuned in for the airguns, but I am getting more in return. I like seeing the memorabilia. My uncle was a Marine who served in the VietNam War. He was not planning on survivng, but somehow he was the only survivor of two companies. He also survived two plane crashes and was the only survivor after jumping out of an exploding helicopter. He still has a sense of humor. He is my own personal hero.

    Hello Dr. Russ.
It's been awhile, I hope your well sir.
Your coming up with some great, practical ideas, and your Jesus project is very nice.
I need to come up with something myself in terms of storing my airguns.
I literally have each one of my guns in it's own case, pistols and rifles, and that's ok I guess, but the amount of room it takes up is more room then I have.
    I really enjoyed this...thanks again!

That's an awesome idea . . . it's always good to see innovation in airgunning.
However, there's one thing to consider, every vessel containing (high) pressurized air contains moisture, that's the law of physics.
This means that we first have to confirm where the air cilinder/tank is located, in particular the cilinder valve and let that dictate how we store it.
On an air gun where the air tube/tank is used as buttstock (like the AirForce and the Evanix Rex line up) moisture can damage the air tube/cilinder valve because this moisture will be sitting where the valve mechanism is. Moisture and valves don't mix well for obvious reasons.
Now the following question arises: What is more damaging for an air gun?
The chance of debris falling in the transfer port or the certainty of mositure resting on the bottle valve?
I think your invention has a place but I would only recommend to store guns upside down when they have the air cilinder under the barrel or when the air cilinder valve is NOT the lowest point when turned upside down.
Butt stock bottled air guns I will always store in the conventional way, butt stock down.
In case of an air rifle with double air cilinders (stock and under barrel) maybe it's best to store it horizontal.
    Springers, always barrel down.
So if one day your product will come to Europe, I will buy it.
Lot's of love from the Netherlands.

Thank you Dr. Russ for your service, I will be 70 in October, I wasn’t there but I do care, I have been a member of the Minnesota Patriot Guard for 15 years now and have stood many flag lines for our fallen men and women of the armed forces, I have also done many welcome home missions and deployments over the years, and have a tremendous respect for those of you that have given us the freedom that we have today, so thank you once again for serving.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the devices you are working on to hold these air rifles with the barrel to the ground.
Have a wonderful day and keep posting these great videos.

Lol..i was already planning to clean my mains barrel today.. but now I get to listen to Dr. russ while doing.. perfect.
I'm cleaning my 177 gamo with these cotton pellets. Their not the kind that you simply shoot tho; their made for going back and forth through the barrel with a push rod.
At first I used to get kinda stressed out cleaning because I had to leave the piston chamber pressurized for so long, but the more I do it the quicker I get.
This gun gets super dirty pretty quick.

I bought a hopps .177 cleaning kit. Besides the regular push rod, It comes with these adapters that I don't understand. One has like a copper wire-haired drill style bit and the other is a soft buffer looking thing.
What is up with the wire tool? Can that actually be put down the barrel safely?

    • @russjones6497
      @russjones6497 Před 10 měsíci +1

Michael... your Hopps cleaning equipment is really for a powder firearm ... which needs a wire brush and strong cleaning... but air guns just need a clean swatch ... and barrel down... Dr. Russ

@@russjones6497 haha...thx Dr Russ. I was looking at the thing and thinking..."what the hell"? It makes sense for use in a.177 black powder barrel.
Personally I've been using cleaning pads but I also have two types of 177 felt pellets... the kind you just shoot through the rifle and the shorter fatter ones that can be driven back and forth.
I've found using the pushrod with the swatches to work best because one can twist it while going through the barrel and try to follow the flow of the rifling. With the pellets, I get less accuracy and I think it might not be cleaning the grooves as well as I need.
