My dad always said a deer will spoil in there guts in 6 hours, unless it freezes fast. When I watch hunting shows and they say we will look in morning I wonder if they are going to eat it. Have a great day

After not shooting my Crossman pump BB gun for some 50 yrs, I purchased a Gamo Socom Extreme on line, hate it!
Very heavy to carry and to cock, compared to what I remembered. Nice demonstration.

Hello Doc, good to see you again. You're looking very dapper today, I think it is the white. Don't know if you've fallen off my subscribed list or if you just cut back, but I look forward to your next video as soon as I finish the latest.
I have Avengers in .22 and .25. They both hit hard and are accurate. That .25 really has some smack! My only complaint is that it seems like you can't depend on them having the same zero from one day to the next. I have to check my zero every session. The only reason that is a problem is that when you get a shot on a groundhog, he doesn't usually wait for you to make the adjustment.
I see you have additional barrel bands on your Avengers. Has that made a difference? If so, do you recall the brand?
You mentioned seeing your heartbeat when aiming. I had a heart valve replaced this summer and it came with improved shooting. I don't get a little hop with every heartbeat anymore.

Rick ... good to hear from you .... I believe my Avengers came with the barrel bands and if not ... I probably got them off of Ebay... and yes every time I have put them on ... they help. Your problem is interesting... sounds like something is loose... maybe scope or picatinny rail under it..... or sights ... or the gun ... let us know... Dr. Russ

Great video Dr Russ my first regulated air rifle is the avenger 22 cal I tried bumping the reg up to almost 3000 psi because I wanted to try shooting slugs I got a sampler of H&N well don't bother with 40 grain slugs they fly everywhere and hit everything but the target even at close range anyway I degassed it and brought it down some I think I'll stick to 18.5 grain pellets I think dome they seem to work best also I finally ordered a FX chronograph something I feel is critical when it comes to tuning my air guns
Smoking Uncle Frank ... good to hear from you ... and you confirm a key point of mine.... higher velocity only destroys a nice tight group.....and I believe accuracy takes precedence over velocity. I also believe that if you use that chronograph on a variety of slug shots, you will find where the accurate group is for that slug ... which maybe tighter or looser than the 18.5 grain pellets. Darin ... thanks for the inquiry. Dr. Paula had Covid and watching after her, plus her work load reflected on November and half of December, with no new videos. However, we launched one last week... and we are both back to catching up. We have just begun our fifth year with 131 total videos launched. Dr gus do you have any airgun recommendations for a kid ? I eant to get my little brother one but hes not strong enough to actually break the barrel on a break barrel
Soulreaper ... you bring up a good question. Consider the Daisy line of airguns that shoot at 240 to 450 fps. for your brother. The key here is to make it easy for him at this early age ... and if this passion is for him... it will grow into an advanced sport later in his life. Also focus on safety. He may not know the danger of these air guns. I know a man who has a BB under his calf skin and doesn't want to take the time to have it taken out. Dr. Russ

Nigel ... good to hear from you again... I believe from my experiences with 3 different Gamo Swarm air rifles, that there are several answers. First, the 22 calibers are better than the 177 because the pellet is heavier and slower ... which provides a better opportunity to keep your pellet in a tighter group. Secondly, the air rifle can be accurate out to 30/ 45 yards based on being 177 / 22 caliber. Third, the scopes ... in my estimation are crap when compared to a more expensive scope. Air gunners hate to pay more for a scope than they did for the rifle, but I have found that to be a fundamental truth in all shooting. Dr. Russ

@@russjones6497 I did order the 4 x 16 x44 scope to try out on my new avenge X. Currently has a Bushnell on there but I figured for the money I want to see how the CV life scope performed. Absolutely love my original avenger. I have CV life rifle slings on both as well as scope rings.
