- After firing a Crosman DPMS SBR (Short Barrel Rifle) in 117 caliber and a Hatsan Barrage in 25 caliber, Dr Russ reflects back on his days as an Infantry Platoon Leader during Vietnam. It was a difficult time as he shares his reflections.

I graduated from high school in 1970. At some point I spent a year subject to getting drafted (I think my lottery number was 127). I was fortunate that my draft board never had to draw down to my number because all you saw on the national news was body bag after body bag coming home. I’m glad you made it home. Thank you for pulling out that photo album. People need to remember Viet Nam.

Glad you made it, had two Uncles there where you were. One was on destroyer or some type of a heavy battleship and the other Uncle in country USAF CCT, he happened to get unlucky and got a Purple Heart.

I've been watching your videos for a couple week now and learned a lot from you. Shooting air guns since a kid, I'm an active 78 and still ride my horses. Thank you for sharing your military experiences. My brother was in a PC group and hit a mine as they were going to supply fire to a group ambushed and under heavy fire. He was already off of active duty and waiting to be air lifted out when they called for help and he and his men volunteered to help those under fire when he hit the mine. He suffered spinal injuries and was found up in the tree canopy and removed by copter. He passed away a few years back do to complications from his combat wounds. I appreciate your service!! Thanks for sharing. His name was Bill Kitrell in case you ran on to him.

Thank you LT Russ for serving are country I tried to get in but they wouldn't take me cuz of my hearing. I prayed everyday for along time for all the young men that lost there life. The memories that you have of it has got to be heartbreaking. I love watching your videos. Wish I could afford one of the p.c.ps I have the Gamo 22 magnum in it shoots nice. I have shot crows out to 75 yards. But would still love to own one of the other one. God bless you and your wife.
Elmer ... thanks for writing... my hearing went down hill after Vietnam ... even with VA hearing aids, I dont hear everything. We use to carry empty shell casings in our ears to help with the noise reduction ... but nothing keeps out the sounds of war.... Dr. Russ

Thank you Dr Russ for sharing some of your photos and stories of your time in Vietnam, my uncle was in the Korea war, like you he had alot of battle wounds he brought back with him, I was a little kid when he would tell me about some of this life in the war. He would also sit in his chair a dig out pieces of shrapnel years after all said and done. Thank you sir for your service🙏🙏🙏
Lance Rhoades ... it is good to hear from you again.... Your uncle had a difficult time in Korea too... in fact ... I believe that war never ended with a peace treaty. Both sides just separated and rattled guns at each other. Time however, has been kinder to us. I am told that a flight over South Korea shows a million lights below tinkling from the bustling economy below... while N. Korea lives in darkness ... while the peasants below starve. All that will change in the next 20 years. Dr. Russ
@@russjones6497 yes you are right, there was no piece treating beteen us and Korea. I know the people from north are starving while they put all their money in their Nuke program, very sad!!!!

Glade you made it back. I lost a lot of friends there. I had it easy. I was USAF, Air Traffic Controller, sent to Ubon Thailand 08/68 to 08/69. We had F4's, Spectra C130 Gun Ships, Blind Bat C130 flare ships and forward air controllers.

Dr.Russ, I was in the Air Force for RVN, I had the job of hauling over 700 of our great men out of RVN in coffins, I had the chance to see that one of my high school friends name was on one of the coffins I was bringing back. Two years later, I was walking in the Air Base and I saw him walking towards me! He said to me "Hey, Butch, you look like you just saw a ghost". I told him about the coffin and understood. Both of us were glad it was not him!

Crazy part is some give all they have to protect our freedoms of this country but we are infringed and under attack by the same dam Government that these military heroes go out there defend this country but CIA and FBI director of border security and Mr. Good old Blundering Brandon trying to destroy America just bc he isn’t Half the Man TRUMP is. While democracies would often postpone or decline a war possibility when our economy is down, communism is just the opposite. I commented elier about my new Gamo I the last new gun I have is Winchester 1100 break, I do cheat with it it was 60$ I put vegetable oil straight in the barrel shooting 7.4 is a 17 cal it will crack it's fun, but my new Gamo 22 is so nice love your stuff learn from you my dad could never understand breaking the sound barrier, it the gun powder, I wish he was alive so I could show him, again than you

@@Mustangchef Will do ... the difficulty in answering your first question about what Bull Pup should you buy is based on not knowing your budget. At the top of the $3000 budget are a number of Bull Pups... and those based upon $350 for the gun and $250 for an air compressor is another answer. In this lower bracket, consider the Umarex or Avenger.

I cocked my Hatsan 95 and for got to shoot the 22 cal. I'm guessing it messed my rifle up. It needs fixed cause of my mistake.
Torino428 .... if you dry fired your air gun .... then it may not be damaged as you believe.... Let us know... Dr. Russ
