  • Near the Texas and Arkansas border is a town named Rogers, Arkansas. Hatsan, Umarex, Barra and Daisy all have facilities in that area and so Dr. Paula and I decided to visit Rogers, Arkansas during our last trip to see just what those firms added to the passion found among air gunners. The highlight of this trip was not an air gun manufacturer, but rather an air gun museum. Regardless of the brand you own, you owe it to yourself to see this video and part II that follows it, to really know the roots of air gunning in general.

    Hey Dr Russ, brought back the memory that my first 'airgun' was in fact a Daisy. It was called the Daisy Sonic rifle. It didn't actually fire anything but a concentrated blast of air..... It came in a box which when opened converted into a target. With lots of foil strips hanging down. On these strips were printed a bullseye and I think a Tiger ! You used an underlever to cock the rifle then fired a blast of air at the foil target which ruffled as you hit it. We found it was powerful enough to knock over plastic toy soldiers which was great fun. I now own a few different air rifles including an FX Maverick. But I can still remember the fun we had with that old Daisy sonic gun over the Christmas holidays 😎🤠👍 look forword to the next segment of the Daisy museum. I wonder if a PCP double barrel rifle will ever be designed no problem having to cock the rifle if its a PCP. Take care from Plymouth UK across the pond 👍

    A while back I read the interesting Wikipedia page about Daisy Outdoor Products. Seeing this now by your video with the excellent guide makes everything much clearer. In the meantime I bought the Red Ryder for adults and can now understand why then and now the American youth is still fascinated by this BB gun. This one now as well.

    Thank you Dr Russ for the great interview. My brother lived in Rogers for about 8 years while he worked for IBM as a electronics repair person for the IBM equipment that Walmart had in its data center. I also had a Daisy Pump BB rifle back in the late 1950s which my dad got me so that we could go hunting for rabbits. Believe it or not, I shot and killed a rabbit on my first time out with my dad and uncle in January after Christmas. I loved the rifle and I shot it for target shooting for about 7 years until it was stolen out of the garage. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos from Daisy.

    I got a 25 caliber Zada, basically an Airtact with an AR15 style stock, and powerful detonations on the first few shots not only stung the crap out of my trigger finger, but blew out the side of the chamber seal. It still has the top surface of the seal and shoots but it may be losing some compression. The 25 caliber is much easier to shoot accurately so far than my Airtact 22 cal. I contacted Hatsan and they responded fast and they`re sending me chamber seals for both. These are inexpensive springer break barrels but they`re great for close range open sights pest control and rabbit hunting. I need to work on the Airtact sights though to get it dialed in. But it`s just too hot in Louisiana right now. I have an very old Daisy 880 and a new one I just bought. Very accurate and good to have as a prepping tool. A nice bird is a real treat if you`re hungry, I tell ya! Been there.

    Nice video, always enjoy them. I lived in Northville, just up the road from the old Daisy factory, near the Ford Valve Plant. Both have been converted over to other uses.

      Rick Hofsess ... glad to hear from you ... Who’d have the audacity to give your video a thumbs down? If they don’t like it, watch something else! Why hurt someone’s feelings? Just my 2 cents worth.

    • @russjones6497
      @russjones6497 Před 11 měsíci +2

      Thanks for the compliment Al ... and 8 or 9 viewers have given me a thumbs down over the past 3 1/2 years... and the question comes up ... Why do I even suggest that they leave a thumbs down? Interesting question, but I do have an answer. Companies beg for feedback from their customers ... hoping to find an area that their product can be made better. Unfortunately, there are some people who believe they were put here on earth to give others the thumbs down. That provides a problem on who is leaving honest feedback and who is just out there feeling better about themselves (recall how one person feels better if he/she puts another person down). Obviously 99 thumbs up and 1 thumbs down is a good sign... and 1000 views vs 10,000 views is another ... but I have learned to look for more than that. If the viewer who leaves the thumbs down is very specific about a portion of the video, but praises the rest ... or talks about how the rest of that video helped them be a better air gunner... then I accept that as honest criticism ... and helpful in what we want to accomplish here.... Meanwhile, I / we appreciate your comment and loyalty to our channel.... Thanks again ... Dr. Russ.
