    Contribution cookbooks are so cool. This cake looks great and we're especially enamored of that frosting. (It was so worth the remake)! We love it that your grandkids call you GiGi! We don't have any grandkids, but some of the children in our neighborhood call us "The Sunshine Boys".

    Hi Jill! 👋🙂 My grandmother On my dads side was grandma goody.. lol . Her nickname all her life from school buddies to adult friends and even our family …was goody. So naturally we had to call her grandma goody. I might have mentioned this to you once or twice before but Grandma goody was an excellent chef and pastry Chef! She worked for a 250 year old hotel called the black bass INN in Bucks county Pa for over forty years! And her food was very well known and loved. She was especially well known through the whole county for her pies! Rum cream pie and peach cream pie were her two most popular pies. She passed away in the mid 90’s but one of my aunts has some of her recipes and I have asked for some of them but so far haven’t had any luck getting them .
    And then on my moms side we had Nana. I know for sure my Nana would have loved your show! She was all about the times and the cookbooks, and the cream of mushroom soup recipes.. (lol) and the entertaining! She loved entertaining! Her and I would watch Julia child together when I was a kid even though I had zero interest in cooking until I was a teenager. I just liked to hang out with her and hear her talk because she was extremely funny and had a strong English accent!
    Man oh man I wasn’t expecting to go on and on like that! Lol that does look super yum and I love how easy it was to whip up. Definitely saving this one 🌟🧡🍸

      Hi Ryan! I love every word! How fabulous is grandma goody! And she was a pastry chef! So aptly named! If you ever get your hands on the recipes, I adore peach and rum cream pies!😉
      And how cool to watch Julia with your Nana! Especially with an english accent! Sounds like you were double lucky!

    Oh, forgot to add. I have no children but I do have a granddaughter. One of my best friends has 2 girls I’m very close to. The youngest started calling me ‘grandma’ several years ago to be an 11 year old. I’ve finally given into it and now tell her she’s my favorite granddaughter. She & I are very close and I’m grateful for this child

    My grandmother (and subsequently my mother) went by Nanna (double 'n') and pronounced like Nannaw. Of course finding a card with that spelling was nigh-on impossible!

    • @yesterkitchen

      LOL! I can totally see the lack of cards Audrey! I'm sure there is no Gigi card either. :) But I love that they were both Nanna!!

    Love the new intro! It brought back fond memories of when my parents first got a color TV in 1972! The Yum-Yum frosting reminds me of Bananas Foster... I can see taking Nana's cake to a whole new level! We called one of our grandmothers Grandma, the other Nana. That pattern repeated for my children. No grandchildren yet, but my wife will probably be Nana.

    • @yesterkitchen
      @yesterkitchen  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you Harry! Always love to hear form you! I wanted to update my intro and decided to literally "update" my intro! LOL!
      And yes! The flavors of Bananas Foster! That story is on my very long to do list! This cake is fabulous, even the cake part is delicious!
      I am loving hearing all the grandma names, love that you repeated it for your kids and loving that one day, that will repeat for your future grandchildren!
      And wow! 1972! Now you have me thinking and I just can't remember when, LOL! I hope you and your wife have a beautiful weekend!
