The ending punched me in the gut. Curtis discovered that the thing he believed kept humanity alive is based on child slavery and he just said 'fuck it, apocalypse then'. Honestly, the moral fiber is strong.
So are you vegan and an activist? Or at least vegan?
@@Cassxowary lol dont tell me you would take over after him and keep the train going, actual psychosis imminent
Funny enough most produce is picked by child slaves so this comment makes even less sense
Parasite is more vertically shot and Snowpiercer is more horizontally shot and Bong Joon Ho was writing Parasite while filming this movie.
Genius 👌🏼
@@nicsandnacs 😎 🏝 💟
It’s funny I knew the dad and daughter from The Host, and they replayed the rolls
It also gets brighter the higher the class in both films
Polar bear is the top of the food chain, that means there’s active ecology out there, the temperature is rising and much higher than what people in the train believe. The bear doesn’t mean danger, it means a potential to survive out there in terms of food. The Asian father is always right, people should get out of the train.
Lol there’s obviously no top it’s a circle, all get eaten upon death
No, polar bears are an apex predator
@@Cassxowary there is no natural predators of polar bears other than time which is at the top of foodchain for everything, time will always take
@@chikihando2483 time is not on the food chain because it can’t be consumed. Also, it is not a material object.
@@RAJ-zo8cu thats what im trying to explain on the dude above, genius
random fun fact: during the shawarma post-credit scene in Avengers if you pay attention to Chris Evans you'll notice he covers his face with his hand during the scene because at the time he was shooting Snowpiercer and had a beard.
Ok i know you posted this like 6 months ago but that was not chris that was a stunt double
@@slowproffesor9967 except it wasn't?
transcript of Marvel's Director's roundtable extra on Avengers: Infinity War bluray via screen rant (2018): "It was during... While we were doing press after the premiere at the hotel. There was a shawarma place, like, three blocks away. [Kevin Feige] got everybody in there. Evans had a beard. So they put, like... It looked like the Warren Beatty Dick Tracy, like, giant jaw on him, and he just sort of hid it like this [puts his right-hand over his jaw].""
EW article titled: "'The Avengers': The story of the after-credits shawarma scene" 11/29/12
quote: "Robert Downey Jr. has just entered the room, and immediately begins mocking the prosthetic that Evans needed to hide his beard for the scene. (Evans also, you’ll notice, covers his face throughout that footage by resting his cheek against his hand.)"

Chris Evans is an amazing actor. He doesn't get many roles like this. Gifted is another awesome Chris Evans movie. Definitely watch it if you like him.
I’ve heard of it and it’s been on my watchlist for ages! I’ll have to check it out soon ☺️
this movie is Awesome.Next:-Gifted!!!Love you!
Watch his new show "Defending Jacob" czcams.com/video/5PsR9lEy8w8/video.html
Well, who dislikes Chris Evans? HEY EVERYONE! WATCH GIFTED WITH CHRIS EVANS AND MCKENNA GRACE!
Watch him in Sunshine. 🥰
"Oh, we're going to a rave now" *said with teas in her eyes* hahaha
Another interesting detail:Curtis claims he’s not a leader and that the boy shouldn’t worship him like one but during the train fight not only is he first but he picks up an axe which in many stories is symbolic as leadership or being a leader
The film that started my love of Bong Joon Ho. If you haven't seen Memories of Murder, you should definitely watch it.
I recommend his other movie, Mother! Its the stronger movie of the two in my opinion! :-)
It started my love for Korean movies, Train to Busan is also amazing and oddly similar to Snowpiercer
please watch memories of murder!!!!!!
Also recommend The Host. And it’s free on CZcams
The fish shot was almost cut from the film by Harvey Weinstein because he didn’t like it as he wanted more action but Bong lied to him stating it meant something to him as his ‘father was a fisherman’ and Harvey let him keep it in😂 probably my favourite bit of trivia on Snowpiercer!
Great commentary btw! 😁
That fish shot 😳 genius but so gross!
Any movie that has international casting is a win in my book. Movies like this just prove the unity of humanity.
Fun fact: Song Kang-ho
, the main character from Parasite...who is helping Chris Evan's group in this movie starred along Go Ah-sung
, the Korean actress who plays his daughter in this movie, in another Bong Joon Ho movie called The Host. :)) Their roles respectively, were father and daughter once again :D
Chris Evans confirmed (mostly) this is a sequel to Willy Wonka. Mind = Blown.
Could also be a between-quel of The Time Machine remake where they have a bunch of blasians in that community. heh
7:16 The fish makes a lot of sense because fish blood is an anticoagulant so any wounds made would keep bleeding. Quite smart :3
Ganime Ozcay Mostly. It’s like how vampire bats’ saliva contains an anticoagulant so the animal keeps bleeding. Just instead of a bat, it’s an ax that’s assumed to kill you x3
All of Bong Joon Ho's movies are great! Memories of Murder and Parasite are his two best films, but Snowpiercer is personally my favorite film of Bong Joon Ho.
Glad you reacted to this one! Such a badass movie. I agree it also left me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Suggestion : watch a movie theory relating this movie to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, if you haven't watched it yet. It's on youtube. :) enjoyed your reaction. Thank you!
That theory makes this movie even better.
Yo that theory makes so much sense too!!
@@coreyhughes1456 It really does!
she should do a reaction to the theory
100% loved this idea!! :D
You need to watch "The Host" its a dark comedy by Bong Joon-ho. He has some of the same actors in that movie as well as "Okja".
Ok... I love the way you live through the movie, and how well you read the details, the narrative and the technical stuff as well. It's so clear that you love movies, and you see a lot in every one you watch. As a big fan of cinema I'm so thankful of your content and... idk, what can i say, you are so cool hahaah. If you got some spare time I highly recommendo you to watch a theory video about how Snowpiercer is the sequel of Charlie and the Chocolate facory... I know, it sounds weird, but it all make sense if you watch the video. So that's it.. Thank you, I'm a new big fan of yours, and I hope to keep watching your amazing content. Cheers!!
Thanks I really appreciate it ☺️ Cinema is so great and I love pulling movies apart and breaking them down. Yeah someone mentioned the Willy Wonka theory. I’ll have to check it out!
SUNSHINE is another amazing movie with Chris Evans. I remember him in a interview saying how he wish more people had known about it because he thought it was one of his better performances
Haven’t seen it in a while but my brother and I both loved it ☺️
Lets Go Blues!!!
Yeah, love that one.
I think you should check out "Children of Men" its another sci fi but really good, lots of realism and emotional at times, women in the future can't give birth.
naHousehippo I second this! Excellent film with some fantastic direction & camera work.
absolutely. one of my fav movies along with V for Vendetta & Dr Parnassus
Agreed agreed. CoM is one of the most emotional movies I've seen. So utterly devastating with still a ray of hope, and if any emotional movie scene will be considered universally relatable it's probably that scene near the end, damn.
@@CH-ls7ye Very relevant of our times.
yes please
The man who kept trying to kill them (who killed octavia's character and others) was so determined because they killed his partner. During the scene where they were freezing off the arm you notice him and another man leaning on each other. Later the other man is killed and that is when the man gets really angry and goes on a killing spree.
What I like about the last scene is that they showed that there is life out of the train . The polar bears shows you that they can live in the cold
Right? If Polar Bears can get enough to eat, there's a lot of life out there.
Also if the snow is melting, the temperature goes above 0°C
Who else thinks she needs to see a video on the “connection” between this & Willy Wonka?
i will never get over that it's goddamn real and noone can tell me otherwise
@@Mentohs Yeah it's canon as far as I'm concerned.
I have just watched this movie for the second time and damn, I loved even more that the first time. Nic, yours latest movies commentaries are on point
Definitely a rewatchable movie. Thanks ☺️ I’ll be in isolation not working so endless time to film and edit!
Movie suggestion: Knives Out. The movie is fantastic in every way, and it has an absolutely star-studded cast. So many hidden details and clues throughout that makes the movie rewatchable, even if you know the plot.
After Parasite, I’m excited to watch or rewatch all of Bong Joon Ho’s filmography with a new perspective
Tilda Swinton is so good in this...and you didn't realize she was even there...whoever did her makeup A+++
To me, the polar bear doesn't really symbolize that humanity can survive outside the train. Instead, it symbolizes that although humanity may be gone, life will go on. The image of that raver with the wings falling into the machinery says it all: the soul of humanity has been ground up. Instead of allow the persecution and debasement to continue, Curtis and Namgoong have effectively pulled the plug on the human race's life support. Better to let it die with whatever dignity it has left than allow it to worsen further. And although we may be gone, there is a life for the universe after us.
*sobbing* “oh we’re going into a rave now... synth house music yeahhhhh” 🥲
Curtis knew that he had to leave Edgar. Even if he had gone back for him, that guy still would have killed him before Curtis reached him.
yeah this is the movie remember what i said about the avengers post credit scene where he's covering his mouth area
yeah he was filming this movie when they asked him to come back shoot that scene
& u know he couldn't shave his beard off
I cried and still cry at Grey's death.
The Host is also a good Bong Joon film, if not my favorite by him.
Wonder if hes related to Commander Grey from the show
Annihilation would be a good movie to react too!
Snowpiecer was a delight to watch. Genuinely surprised me at how good it was.
that polar bear in the end is basically showing life continued on without mankind and I feel like the polar bear is looking at the two of them as if they are some lesser being or past extinct creature that no longer has any place or right on the planet anymore. Because lets be honest...those two children are not the new beginning of humans as a species, just not gonna happen. They will not survive this new harsh environment and that polar bear seems to know it. It is in that moment that mankind's extinction is imminent.
So penetrating analysis 😮
But i reckon that
The end of the story
Is open and leaves
Especially, the last scene
Of their footprint.
The shot of the FULL GROWN polar bear at the end shows that there is life had been returning to the world , I. Other words the few who jsut survived can survive. I’d imagine they stay at t he train, which is full of food and supplies and shelter and live on. I’d love a second one showing from here.
i just wanted to say that i really love the approach you take to these videos! it's clear that you're knowledgable about film but you also don't try too hard to focus only on talking about technical aspects, being able to sit back and enjoy a film is what matters most! i just recently came across your channel so i've been watching a bunch of your commentaries over the last couple days and i just wanted to comment this because i think you're doing a really good job with these videos and i hope this engagement can help the algorithm boost your videos at least a little bit :') i'm really glad i found your channel, keep up the great work!
Wow! Thanks so much! When commentating movies it’s all about balance I think. And the vibe of the video and how I edit always depends on the genre of the movie. I really appreciate the support and I’m happy you’re enjoying the commentaries ☺️
One of my favorite movies! Loved seeing your reaction. A TV Series version of Snowpiercer is coming out soon in America. Will be interesting to see how much it stays true to the movie. Also the polar bear at the end is supposed to be a sign of hope as it shows life on the planet has survived and not everything had died off as the people on the train thought
Yeah I heard there was a show in production. I’ll definitely watch the pilot. Hopefully it’s not a disappointing remake 🤞🏼
@@nicsandnacs The tv series is coming out in mid May in America. Not sure when it will be available elsewhere. Have you seen "Moon"? Sam Rockwell is the star of that film. It is another unique Sci Fi movie that is well worth a watch
Yes, that is Song Kang Ho. Possibly the greatest actor of his generation - Korean or otherwise.
The polar bear is supposed to show how it is still possible to survive outside the train because it is warmer now. They thought nothing could survive outside the train not even polar bears.
God I missed Sir John Hurt he was such an amazing actor.
The Platform has similar themes but set in a high rise building.
As is the movie ‘high rise’
Eh, Parasite has way better writing and it’s more focused. The Platform is attempting to be too many things at once.
The Platform was very in your face with the theme and also provided no solution or direct enemy to the audience. For Parasyte that enemy was the inequality created by capitalism, for The Platform it was, like, apathy and greed, I guess?
Its underground, considering most non-english titles including the original spanish simply mean ”the hole”
The original ending of The Platform was soo smart.
It felt like they added the little girl plotline later
The first episode of the tv show just aired. It was interesting. It has potential to be a good series
Been watching all your videos all night lol. Great videos keep it up!
Haha thanks! hope it’s helping pass the time if you’re in isolation ☺️
You did a good job. It's the enthusiasm that made your review/commentary fun to watch. Keep it up. :)
I love when you say "Far out!" LOL
I just saw this for the first time a few weeks ago and yeah I basically had the same reaction at every twist and turn. It's a wild ride of a movie!
been looking forward to this,
I saw this in the theater during an outing for work. The two execs in front of me and my good friend asked what was wrong with us when we were laughing our butts off during the film.
Tilda Swinton is such an amazing villain
The shot of the polar bear symbolizes that life can survive in the harsh conditions
10:07 The Late GREAT John Hurt!
Ironic, I just watched this movie a few days ago and then this comes up on my recommendations! Definitely cool to see you watch it and hear you're opinions about it!
Perfect timing 😂
@@nicsandnacs For sure 😂, also if you love the director you should check out Okja, it's very different but worth a watch!
The shot of the polar bear is important because it shows that it was not as cold as it originally was. Therefore, life could continue outside of the train, but the train symbolizes our current society and how people are scared to get off the tracks, so to speak.
They mentioned realty in there movie that nothing could live outside the train. That it was too cold and everyone was stuck inside. The final shit of the post progress that life can continue outside, that there's Hope.
Strange, but mesmerizing. That was a dope summarization of what they were going through.
4:22 alot of cultures regardless if european, asian and such always view that you never bring your shoe/feet to a persons head. at first many of us are taught becuase "well its not proper etiquette, its dirty and rude so you should never do that with other ppl either be family or even close friends and this includes flip flops and sandals or similar. understood?" and massive majority of us was taught that. but its roots is this and its kinda true. the idea is at the time hundreds/thousands years ago (hell even bit today still for those that know and wanna maintain its reasoning.) the poor is always viewed as a dirty shoe. keep musing, being a cover for clean feet and used by someone higher up with a better position and money. shoes is never suppose to reach near the head besides not getting the person face dirty or rudeness but to symbol a show is always stepped on and at the bottom. never above the same height as those standing tall and proud. and if a shoe gets damaged or very dirty instead of trying to repair or fix it if you have money then just toss it away like its nothing to you similar to servant and master. servant becomes ill/disabled and no use then the master just toss them aside and get someone new. they wont waste time and money just to help them since its easier to replace them.
short: modern society wise we taught its because its rude and dirty. old symbol roots of society then its to represent a person status and use.
Of course it's Ed Harris. Ed Harris controls EVERYTHING.
I think the grimmest and most controversial part of the movie in regards to it's metaphor is that the unfair and ultimately revolting situation presented is the only one viable to keep the train running, in other terms that unfairness is ultimately necessary to society least you decide to destroy it all in which case everyone is at a loss and it is a lose lose kind of situation...To be more specific in the case of children awfully being put to work and death, doing the moral thing is in the end what results in destroying everyone and the movie does a good job at contrasting that with our simplistic notions of the good and bad and which one is believed to always be the best option in regards to responsibility of survival and all the rest
Perfect that I literally just watched this for the first time yesterday! 😁 perfect timing
Haha perfect 👌🏼
I think the polar bear is supposed to represent that they will be able to survive outside of the train as the temperature is much higher than they anticipated. I saw it and I wal like "there is life?!"
I just watched this movie myself! I was blown away with everything. Its just so unexpected at every turn 💙 i loved it
I like watching the movie before seeing you react to it, even if i've seen it before. Have not watched this one in a while, so much better than I remember!
the polar bear actually means something very nice. that life is still thriving outside the train!
Really really really nice reaction. You understand every meaning.
You should definitely read the graphic novel that this is based.
Even though they took a lot of Liberties of changing a few things around but the graphic novel is actually really good
well i can see you're getting more & more Subs Congrats on that mate
it's being cool u see u grow these past 5 or so years mate

@@nicsandnacs i mean it's understandable mate why peeps r coming to ya & subbing to me your commentary feels very real and unique in a way different to others & i find it fun to watch
I watched half of it awhile ago, I should finish it some time. Great video yo!
loved this reaction omg - you pointed out some visual stuff i didn't even think about!! (curtis looking left/right correlating to backwards/forwards?? the tail and head of the train being color-coded the same??? your MIND)
Glad you got something out of the video ☺️ Breaking down films is the best. I swear I watch so many analysis videos after I see a mindfuck movies 😂
Originally the bug scene was supposed to be the feces of the first class but they changed it
thats fucked lol glad they changed it
You actually got it spot on when you guessed what they were eating. In the original version it was revealed that the people in the lower class were eating the recycled faeces of the upper class. The studio thought that was a bit too graphic for audiences who might be, you know, eating popcorn so they changed it. Having that knowledge does make their grossed out reactions a lot more understandable when you know what it originally was.
Oh god ewwww 🤢
Just watched this movie yesterday. Thought it was pretty great
The polar bear I believe was there to represent hope for the survivors, up until then they said it was so cold that all life died out, now it's just warm enough to sustain animal life giving the humans hope. That's what I think
Great project i really enjoyed it
Just watched Snowpiercer. Can finally play this episode
Notice how at 8:11, the train goes through the snow? That's why it's called The Snowpiercer. 😊
People do eat bugs for protein so it's really interesting to see Curtis shocked to witness what the protein blocks were made out of considering he knows what people taste like and that babies taste best. Just thought I'd share that observation.
Polar bear means life outside in the world
New viewer here, after catching up on the films you've done that I love, will continue to watch your vids. Looking forward to IT:2 :p
This movie is GOOD! That ending sometime make me think nonstop. Like how kids will survives? or would polar bear went after kids as foods?
Geez lol
Remember theres like 2 machine guns right behind them
I'm glad Bong Joon-ho is getting mainstream attention ever since Snowpiercer! :) He deserves it for sure.
Totally!
One of the best movies of 2014 imho. Also imo one of the better graphic novel adapations, although very loose. Also also probably Chris Evans' best performance. Also also also, just for your information, there is supposed to be a tv series set couple of years before the events in the film. Air date: May 2020.
I love this movie so much
Rewatching this movie with you, it occurred to me. This is the ice train sequel to the Truman Show. Boom. You’re welcome.
polor bear is not only danger but also life outside of train.
outside of train is not that cold anymore.
This movie is insane!
Snowpiercer is one of my favorite films, I just watched Parasite today and just now realized that they shared the same director, can't say I'm surprised, but it didn't click with me at first exactly how the name Bong Joon Ho sounded familiar.
I think the polar bear was a more hopeful sign that there is still life outside of the train
There are alot of rumours going around that this movie is related to the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory movie. Search on youtube and you will find a video that explains how well they are related to eachother.
Yeah so many people are saying that! I really gotta check out an explanation video ☺️
ngl, the bit with the bugs never freaked me out. People eat bugs now, people eat grasshoppers now. They're a very good source of protein it's just our western idea of what is and isn't food that makes people feel grossed out by eating bugs
I think the thing w the ending with the polar-bear was that it was warm enough for things to live outside of the train. Just like the dad said. So the girl and the boy would basically been able to survive out in the wild.
Such a crazy film
me: reads the title
me: THANK YOU
I watched it a week ago, it was awesome.
Je t'aime ❤ from Montréal !! Amazing chanel
Just recently dubbed! Love your content. Keep it up!
Thanks ☺️
"i can't believe it ended on a shot of a polar bear" LMAO exactly my thoughts!
+Nics&Nacs: You should watch the Snowpiercer series. It's pretty intense. Also, it's not on you when spoiling these things with your reaction videos. People who come here to see movies they've never seen before might either be satisfied enough to not see the entire movie on their own but I would imagine that at some point, they will want to see it for themselves and come back to watch your reaction. I never see reactions to movies I've never seen before and that goes for most of us. I don't see how watching them here for the first time satiates the hunger for movies or shows.
Yooo she watches TwoSet, I literally just came from a TwoSet video to this one directly, STOP READING MY BRAINS
Hahaha love Brett and Eddy ❤️
@@nicsandnacs You also friggen mentioned Corridor Crew in your interstellar review. Idk why it's so hype to know I'm not the only one that watches CZcams.
You should check the series which worked as a prequel, directed by the same director as well. You could get more insight to the how the train works and how the other class lived their life
Definitely one of the best commentaries i've seen. Only watched the movie today and loved it.
May I recommend the film 'Filth' featuring James McAvoy, I feel like it doesn't get the attention it deserves.
Warning though it's not for the faint of heart.
