Jagr will never be a hall of famer because he never stops playing.
Lol
Maniac 23 will he's still young. Give him time
Maniac 23 I made the 200th like
@@PureStrikePurist thanks man! Didn't check on the comment anymore, that escalated quickly.
Your welcome
Honestly man you’re one of the most underrated NHL content producers, I didn’t sub until recently but I’ve been watching your videos for a while and they’re all just really solid and unique, keep it up.
Thank you :)
Agreed
Nate Superfighter Devesion Diaz agreed
Jesus buy him dinner first
I've noticed that too; keep up the great work!
Do future hall of famers from each team
Good idea but some teams have none lololol
@ohnyquist Please 🙏🏻 Love your content and have always wanted to see your take on who will and won’t make it!
@@Spilia4 It could still be fun to speculate, just talk about a young player who could one day be considered on their current trajectory.
Islanders legit have none maybe barzal
@@Spilia4 I can name one: Toronto
Daniel Alfredsson needs to get in. He deserves it
Well he finally did!
Marleau is one that I think absolutely goes into the HOF.
I don’t think Seabrook has much of a chance, but I think you mostly nailed it.
mike west ummm seabs has 3 rings though
Seabs over Marleau, just because you play long doesn't mean they're hof worthy.
Champagneshane exactly! Longevity does play a roll BUT patty hasn’t really won anything :/
Role*
Champagneshane Marleau didn’t just play for a long time. He’s put up an impressive amount of points in his many, many years.
I guess Seabrook could make it in. I know he’s never put up great numbers, but he’s been a great dman for a long time.
Also, I don’t think the Cups argument is 100% relevant. That’s not an individual stat. Seabrook certainly didn’t lead them to those Cups by himself. He hasn’t been the best dman on their team at any point in his career.
There are plenty of defenseman who have won multiple Cups that never even sniffed the HOF.
If eric staal goes to hall of fame and datsyuk not i'm out
Master
Master
Datsyuk should make it within his first few years of eligibility. Staal has had a good career but I don’t think he makes the cut.
8 current nhl players who are bordeline hall of famers
@Shawnaldo75 yes he is he's not even playing in the khl anymore
People forget how good spezza was in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s
I remember his time in dallas
Do a vid on players that should get there jersey retired that did not yet
Is it s good idea
Do it
John Scott
Hell yea
Yeah lol
He’s not borderline though. He should be a lock for the HoF.
John scott > wayne gretzky
10:40 Kessel looks so happy lol
Kessel was actually drafted 5th overall. Backstrom was 4th.
How Come Zdeno Chara isn't on this list? :o
He's a lock...
Do a vid about questionable hall of fame picks
Corey Perry also won the memorial cup as a captain of the London Knights from the CHL.
I once skated with Jordan Staal he glides with ease I met him when he was a Pete's player. I seen Jordan And Eric Staal play together for the Peterborough petes against the oshawa general's it was awesome very talented
I take it that Getzlaf's absence from this list means he's getting in?
Kessel is my boy.. I remember when he started in Boston and he scared me as a Habs fan.
2009 playoffs...if you remember 😂😂
I will jump on a cliff if Datsyuk does not make it in
There will be rioting in the streets!
Staal won a cup. Over a thousand points. 6x all star. All star mvp in 2008. World championship gold in 2007. Olympic gold in 2010 Obviously bound for the HOF haha like what?
maybe because he had some down years but I always liked him as a player.
Mahoney 87 not obvious at all but alright
My guy had a solid 10 year run... If you asked anyone in 2010, Staal would be in... The past 10 years he has been average at best...
@@JM-yn8mb that makes no sense, he just had 2 great seasons recently including 42 goals 2 seasons ago and is on pace for 30 again at 35 years old.
@@haileyn4219, Look at team success buddy. The guy has made the playoffs 5 times in 15 years...
I’ve never been so early that there aren’t even any funny comments
Edit: Last time I got this many likes, the Detroit redwings we’re still making the playoffs
How about Nick Backstrom?
Everyone dogs on my boy Nicky Backstrom. So underrated, approaching 1000
I haven't watched the video yet but list outside of Ovi and Crosby; Malkin, Chara, Flurey, Toews, Kane, Kopitar, Bergeron and Keith.
Honorable mentions; Kessel, Rinne, Stampkos, Getzlaf, Perry, Price, Rask and Pavelski.
Potential (young players with potential); McDavid, Matthews, and Eichel,
“You can’t carry a hockey team to the playoffs”
McDavid and Draisaitl: Hold my beer
Sae Sae can’t use that anymore bud
@@uriah9645 true they still somehow missed the playoffs even with them on the team
Taylor Hall, yes, but let's see if the Oil is there now...shit, that's right...C-19.
Would you consider Nick Backstrom a lock? Close to a point per game player in over 950 games played with a cup and 2x World Championship gold
Kovy was my favorite player growing up! Since playing with him as a 15 year old (he was 17 practicing for the NHL draft in lake placid ny) he was skating circles around everyone even players we’ve considered to be the best for years! His shot was insanely accurate and hard to the point that after the goalie made his first save he needed 10 mins to shake it off and would move out the way if he saw Kovy winding up for a slap shot! Can’t blame him even if the equipment wasn’t the greatest back then but still that goalie had a very expensive set! Being in that camp alone cost parents an arm and a leg! For 2 weeks it was about 4-6k... great memories great player and def a hockey hall of fame caliber player! Little known fact is that Ilya Kovalchuk wears number 17 after the greatest Russian player of all time that never played in the NHL due to the iron curtain Valeriy Kharlamov! Even the best of NHL hall of famers had a hard time keeping up with him in the 70s during the CCCP vs Canada series!
I know I’m kinda posting late but Justin Williams was born in Cobourg Ontario and I live in Belleville Ontario 45 minutes (unless my dad drives) and I go in tournaments with him his kids name that I played with is jaxon just really hopes that he makes now that I saw it
Phil Kessel for sure making the HOF! He’ll have over 1000 points for sure, (prob around 1250) and he’s a 2 time stanley cup champ
I was just thinking about Staal, I think he is. Stanley cup, Captain for a long time, multiple all Stars, really nice stats, extreme longevity. Idk if it'll be first ballot but I think he's earned the hall.
They should introduce different tiers to the HOF to solve these questions. You could have an elite tier for the Gretzkys, Lemeuixs, Mcdavids, etc and a lower tier for the players who deserve to be recognised but arent unquestionably the best.
Giroux is another interesting one. I think he will if he continues playing well into his late 30s but his lack of awards is gonna hurt him. The guy was 4th in pts over the entire 2010s decade including 3 top 3 scoring finishes which only HOFs have done. If some of these guys in this video get in then it would ridiculous for Giroux not too.
I wonder if any career KHL players will ever make the HHOF someday
Nicklas backstrom and Malkin outshined by sharing a team with legends like ovi and crosby, both have won a Stanley cup backstrom has a silver medal both will have over 1,000 points when retired and have been great from day 1
Phil Kessel was actually the number 5 pick of the 2006 NHL draft, it was incorrectly stated that he was drafted at number 4.
Henrik & Daniel Sedin??
They're 1st ballet lmao
Not borderline picks. They are locked picks
Just a general question. Would Giroux have a shot at the HOF if he wins a cup
Joey Christmann Probably
What about Getzlaf
I like Marleau but I don’t see him going into the hall of fame. He has won 0 personal awards and 0 team awards other than a western conference championship, which obviously isn’t much. Olympic golds are nice but dan hamhuis is also an Olympic gold medalist (not saying Marleau and hamhuis are the same, just saying there are a lot of people who have won team awards who aren’t necessarily HOF caliber) and to top it off he is a career 57 point man
Agreed but I could see him getting in eventually, maybe after a few year wait
Marleau has been consistently good for most of his career. I personally want him to make it but he might be borderline if guys like Mogilny, Alfredsson, Roenick and Theo Fleury are still not in.
Claude Giroux?
What about Taro Tsujimoto?
Staal should go to Buffalo to be on the second line with Skinner
What about theoren flurley
staal definitely deserves it, won stanley cup in his sophorome year and had 100 points during regular season and was 4th in hart trophy voting and earned spot in 2nd all-star team, that carolina team was so stacked that's why many people doesn;t give staal credit that he deserves, but people often forgot or doesn't look to stats, second best pointscorers for hurricanes that season were cory stillman and justin williams each with 76 points, meaning Eric had at least 24 more points than any other guy on the roster which is pretty big gap. he led playoffs in assists with 19 and points 28 and he really had chance to capture conn smythe but ward was just too spectacular and it went too him. he also had 15-game point streak in that playoff run, tying with names like Lemiux, Lafleur and Messier. which is just crazy when you think eric was just 20-21 years when put up this incredible numbers, unfortunately most of his prime years he skated with mediocre wingers like chad larose and still put up respectable numbers, 09 playoff run he showed great determination and explosiveness and had another solid post-season losing in conference finals against penguins, 6-time all star, stanley cup champion, lead league in post-season points in 2006, 2nd all-star team in 2006, world champion, olympic gold medal and member of triple gold club, over 1100 games and 1000 points club(first player to reach 1000 points from that stacked 2003 nhl draft), 2008 all-star game MVP, 14 career hat-tricks which puts him in all-time 50 in that category... he went from young explosive player who could also throw his big body to show his physical presence to veteran who maybe lost his speed but uses his experience to overcome his "Minuses" with read the game in perfect way, definitely one of my favourite players in this era. watching old videos of his and comparing it to his minnesota days, it feels like I watch two different players, but enjoying both styles, one is pure Explosiveness and the other one is the brain
Patrick Elias but since he was a Devil and not a Ranger or on another big market team he wont get in 😔
is nicklas bäckström a hall of famer?
Yes
Thats not even a question to ask lol. 936 games with 911 points plus 123 playoff games with 106 playoff points. Together with Ovi he has been part of the main core of Washington since the 07-08 season and with them both on the team they have been cup contenders for over a decade (and he got a cup finally). if he doesnt get in it would be a crime against the game
@@RagingAggron that's not even the player hes talking about 😂
HS_Mef00 how do you know?? If its the finish goaltender, an average goaltender at best, he is far from hof worthy
Should be first ballot
Also do you think panarin is hofer
A guy who was not mentioned, and is worthy off HOF consideration is Nick Backstrom. He's been one of the most underrated players of the last 10-15 years and has had a better career that eric Staal and justin Williams.
It’s true
i think i should be in the HOF bc i laid out kadri
What do you think about Rick Nash? Hall of fame or not?
I think getzlaf could also be on this
This is Eric Staal's 18th NHL season. It would have been his 20th if it had not been for the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout, and him not being signed by any NHL team for the 2021-2022 season. He also played in three shortened seasons - the 2012-2013 lockout, and 2-COVID seasons - 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Eric Staal would have had 500 NHL goals by now. Evgeni Malkin and Patrick Kane will become the 48th and 49th members of the NHL 500+ goals club. After that, it is unknown who will become the 50th member of the NHL 500+ goals club. We will be waiting another 5 to 6 seasons to find out, if Eric Staal does not grab that # 50 spot. Eric Staal should play for two or three more seasons after this one, to make up for what he lost because of lockouts and covid, and get that 500th goal! It's time for the Hockey News Magazine to do a special commemorative issue for the 50 members of the NHL 500+ goals club. Ranking them based on their talent, not on their goals, and let's see how much different the list will look. Ovechkin would also have to pass Gretzky before that issue is published!
Anze Kopitar-
-first Slovenian born player to make nhl
-1x lady byng
-2x selke
-2x stanley cup champ
-1000 points
No Backstrom, Getzlaf, or Kane (looking much like a lock but still younger than most on the list, more time to lose it), on this list?
Twig you’re probably right, I just am tapering myself in case of some kind of random, catastrophic meltdown or more legal issues
Is Shea Weber better than borderline, then? Or worse
I know he hasn't had much team success, but he's done well on the international stage iirc. Not to mention- he has qualities that most defensemen can only dream of having
I’d say he’s a lock
Marleau may possibly become player who plays most game in the history of the NHL
Eric Staal * Ilya Kovalchuk * Corey Perry * Brent Seabrook * Justin Williams * Jason Spezza * Patrick Marleau * Phil Kessel
s a swiss person I never would have thought someone talking about the NHL would mention the spengler cup
Spengler cup is covered pretty heavily every year by the sports networks in Canada
Retired NHL 500+ Goal-Scorers
Not In The Hockey Hall Of Fame
01. 566 - Patrick Marleau (Eligible in 2025)
02. 538 - Keith Tkachuk (Eligible since 2013)
03. 522 - Pat Verbeek (Eligible since 2005)
04. 515 - Pierre Turgeon (Eligible since 2010)
05. 513 - Jeremy Roenick (Eligible since 2012)
06. 503 - Peter Bondra (Eligible since 2010)
TJ Oshie should or should not lemme now down below
I say should
How about mikko koivu?
No Claude Giroux?
I thought Justin Williams in the thumb nail was drew doughty 😂
Same lol
Me too!
Do you think kris letang will make it
What about getzlaf
What would it take for Zach Parise to atleast be reasonably considered for the Hall?
Simple win a Stanley cup something he should of done in NJ back in 2012
Im_c21 if he wins a cup he’s an easy HoF
10:04 Phil Kessel was drafted 5th overall not 4th
Backstrom?
You should do fringe hall of famers. Like is carl Hagelin a hall of Famer? Lars eller? Guys that could go in or not
Josh Peters no
Those guys won’t even sniff the hall of fame.
@@drewv1747 unless they have 1 or 2 amazing seasons to top off a career. Then they might.
Josh Peters, but none of those guys have ever even had a hall of fame caliber season. They’ve had good seasons but nothing that should put them in the same building as Wayne Gretzky or Super Mario
I’d say that Marleau will certainly make the HHOF only if he passes Howe for number of games played
Do you think Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks can be a hall of famer?
Matt BK He’s more than on-pace to be the greatest American goal scorer of all time + multiple cups, I’d say it’s fair to consider him a lock even at 31
Did you know. Theres 4 players at the moment who are in top 50 of all time points. Who are still playing
Marleau Thornton Sid Ovi and Malkin?
@@radziklvp3442 That would be 5
I’m pretty sure marleau will because if he does keep playing he will definitely become 1st in games played and Williams should be one due to his playoff success especially in game 7s
As much as I like Kovalchuk, if Mogilny isn't in the HOF, can Kovalchuk go ?
Seabrook & Eric Staal are definitely Hall of Famers in my opinion. What about Henrik & Daniel Sedin?
Where do you think Bergeron stands currently?
Should be in 100%
@ettie cohen why not 1st ballot
Rick Nash? over 800 points. Richard winner. Two time Olympic gold.
He's a lock
Not a lock at all
Not a hall of famer
I don’t think 800 points is enough
Brent Seabrook is the modern Ken Daneyko
Marleau will have played the most regular season games in history when he retires i mean he is less then 70games of
What about Danny Heatley 50in07! The superstar allstar!!! Can’t forget him.... not to mention the captain of the all star team John Scott
I think Marleau is a lock now that he passed games played record
Stall is nearly a .9 point per game over one thousand games.. those are HOF stats.
How is doughty a borderline hofer? He’s an AUTOMATIC hofer.
thats not doughty
Kesler r/woosh
@@Billybob-eo5vf ok sped
Kesler I know it’s Kopitar i’m not stupid
Don't hold your breath on any of these guys. After all, Ron Francis is just getting in now.
Honestly I’m surprised that Ovi wasn’t on the list, but to be honest really good list
Lmao not sure if you’re just trolling but he gets inducted the day he retires. No waiting period for him.
I hope chara makes it
Boston Sports Fan 2004 he definitely will
@@daubeny.7287 And how about Bergeron?
patrik elias?
I’m sure Marleau will get in. It would be a crime if he didn’t
A crime? A lot of hockey fans feel that Patrik Elias and Zetterberg are borderline. If those guys are borderline, than every guy mentioned in this video has no chance of getting in lol
If you get rid of the 1000 in points and games played it’s not that impressive at all
Andre Bobowicz can’t you say that about any player? Take away Wayne Gretzky’s 2800 points and he wouldn’t get in
The Mikey G Show he get in with 57 points in 10 games played cause that’s how dominant Wayne Gretzky is
Why though? Matt Cullen played a lot of games too. Let's put him in there too! Marleau has never been one of the best in the game so how can he be one of the games greatest of all time?
I thought Nash got rocket Ricard in 03-04 not Kovalchuk???
It was a tie i think
Yeah they split it lol
OhNyquist LMAOOO is that the only tie like ever?
Christian Ingrassia I’m honestly not to sure, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened more though honestly
Christian Ingrassia crosby & stamkos split the richard in 2010
Nick Backstrom is another borderline guy. gets overshadowed by ovi
I’d say he’s a lock honestly, your right about him being underrated but when he retires I think he’ll get the credit he deserves
So, I'd like to preface this by saying all these players are great, and have been key players to teams at several points in their careers.
That being said, the only reason any of these players are even borderline, is that the standards for making it into the HHoF seem to be much lower than HoFs in other sports.
Staal's getting in just due to the fact he's a member of the triple gold club.
Williams is clutch but I just wouldn’t put him in hell of fame def close tho. He reminds me of TJ oshie both don’t put up huge numbers but have always been really good and are clutch
*hall omg
Spezza border line ? Nearly a point per game almost 600 assist and 338 goals border line
Staal is it a HOFer
jason williams reminds me a lot of logan couture. Just in the playoffs becomes a god
Like Toews.
Kevin Lowe & Keith Tkachuk should be in the Hall Of Fame
I think Mark Giordano should at least get consideration, he has very comparable numbers to Keith and seabrook despite starting his career late and actually a much better career plus/minus than both of them playing on a much worse team
So you put in phil kessel but not crosby or ovi?😂
Patrik Mellin they aren’t borderline hall of Famers lol they are guarantees
OhNyquist oh yeah true lmao😂😂
Marleau is a lock. Staal and Kovy will probably get in eventually...but not a sure thing. Seabrook and Spezza...not a chance.
