Thought paul bryon was gonna be on this list, he’s been a stud with the Habs
He was also literally mentioned in the comment requesting this video. It's crazy he isn't lol
Mayhe because he's not as good as the players in this video?
@@maxbolton5227 Dominic Moore isn't better than Paul Byron. Montreal currently has 310 games out of him for 147 points. Maybe he isn't there because he didn't start performing all that well as soon as he got to Montreal. It took him one season before taking off.
@@maxbolton5227 He certainly is not. He's a depth player overrated by the ch fans.
@@francischabot1412 I see a ch haters there lmao. Byron is way better than him
Dude!?! Paul Byron was picked up on waivers to become a 20 goal man.
Paul byron is my choice for me
Don’t you mean Corwin
Conman K61 who's corwin byron
@@Redditaurus it’s a reference to TSN’s Bardown series Corwin looks like Paul Byron
Matt Nieto was a decent waiver pick up for the Avs
Hehe 😎 i appround i am a HABS FANS
Thomas Hickey is also in with a shout as a great waiver claim, picked up by the Islanders from the Kings. While he may be on the tail end now, he was a very serviceable defenseman for a few years
I'm really surprised you don't have Ray Whitney on the list. EDM put him on waivers in 1997, he'd played 9 games for the Oilers with 4 points. FLA picked him up and he got 32 goals and 61 points, ended up a perennial point scorer for 15 more years.
The Recchi pickup wins imo. That Atlanta couldn't keep him around was just because they sucked.
Other great waiver pickups that defo shouldve been mentioned above some players in this list
Robert Lang (Bruins to Penguins)
Ray Whitney (Oilers to Florida)
Chris Osgood (Red Wings to Islanders)
Great video bro. Something cool is that my sad is from timmins and actually was friends and played on the all star team in junior’s with Steve Sullivan so I found it cool that you made a video on him.
Okay hear me out, high risk high reward trades that panned out
Great videos man!!! Video idea. Best players who somehow didn’t make the NHL!! Keep it up man!
I remember when grabner was on the isles, he scored 2 shorthanded goals in like 40 seconds, i was at that game
I saw one of your vids from a few years ago before this and its crazy how much your stuff has improved, keep it up man!
Great vid/content! love the video ideas as of late. But you had to bring up the 2011 cup 😭 still stings so bad haha
Could you do best sign and trades? Huge fan keep up the great work!🔥
Igor Larionov Claimed off waivers by San Jose Sharks from Vancouver Canucks October 4, 1992
What a great vid and a breath of fresh air , don’t get me wrong we all love trade rumours and talks etc but they get really dry at times and to share a fun tidbit vid like this is so cool . How about doing a video of the most shots a goalie ever has faced during a playoff or who was the most traded player that has won the most Stanley Cups rings after the trade . Keep up the great work cheers .
There have been plenty of other very respectable "honorable mention" type players who revamped their careers and found their place in the NHL after being claimed off of waivers. Drew Miller is one example. After being picked up by the Redwings, he became one of the best penalty killers in the league, and just a solid depth piece.
I'm surprised Ray Whitney being claimed off Waivers by Florida from Edmonton didn't make the list. In 3 full seasons with the Panthers he had between 26-32 goals and 61-71 points. He also had 31 points in 43 games the next season before being flipped to Columbus for Kevyn Adams and a 4th round pick. He was productive the rest of his career with a Cup win in 2006, two All Star appearances in 2000 (Florida) and 2003 (Columbus) and made the second all star team in 2012 on the tail end of his career with Phoenix; where he still put up 24 goals and 77 points.
He finished his career with over 1,000 points. He may not be a slam dunk Hall of Famer but I definitely think he deserves to be inducted at some point.
Your picks were all deserving selections but I think Ray Whitney tops them all personally.
Surprised nobody even thought to mention Chris Kunitz.
You got a new sub. One step closer to 50K 😉💪
Can’t forget about Carolina Hurricanes legend Curtis Mcelhinney
Abother great waiver pickup was The Canucks picking Martin Gelinas from Quebec in 1994. He would help them reach the finals that same year and score 30 goals in a season.
Yo so dope, ROR would've gone through waivers if he signed the offer sheet from the flames.. RIP
Also, OhNyquist said we could drop a plug for our pod here! Second ever episode we tee up the WJC from a Canadian division perspective. Thanks for the great content my guy
"Lungfish" cracks me up everytime....
You should do a video predicting the standings with the new divisions.
Love you man, love the vids
Can you do off the board picks that became busts
/ basically half of the off the board picks
Another good waiver pickup was in the 95 lockout season, the wings were able to get Doug Brown off waivers from pittsburgh
You should do a prediction on each division contenders
Love your content man!
The divisions aren't even set yet.
@@rivahkillah yes they are
Best undrafted Euro League signings. Random ass topic but I figure you’re up for it.
I feel like a lot of recent Blackhawks players would be on there. Off the top of my head, Panarin, Kubalik, and Suter
The ducks rangers goalie thing also happened with Nabokov in SJ with Toskala and Miikka Kipper
Best high risk decisions of recent history (or all time, both r good)
Honorable mention, Jacob de la Rose. Wasnt the best for the wings but was then traded 1for1 to get Robbie Fabbri. Sort of a vicarious waiver player
Grabner was on the devils as well, Him zajac and coleman where an absolute stud of a line when on the penalty kill.
you should do a video on the greatest seasons on a league minimum contract, you could include rookies too that didn’t get the maximum entry deal but exploded anyways
I’d love for you to make a video on people you think should be hall of famers or border line hall of famers that still currently play.
The Canes have had some good ones in Sergei Samsonov and Curtis McElhinney
An idea I have for an interesting video series would be "butterfly effects" in the NHL. Basically, the concept that a small change can result in much larger changes down the road. In the hockey context, an example could be a trade that was seen as nothing at the time that ended up being the key reason why a team won the cup.
Clearly I don't know as much about hockey as I thought and I wish I could talk to Toffoli but for now, can you explain what you mean by waiver? You mentioned if he passed waivers he'd play in the AHL but he didn't and was traded to the NYI. What do you mean? Thanks.
I've watched just about everybodys channel on hockey at some point including, Jens95, Alyssa hope, etc. I have to say that yours is definitely one of my favorite and some I can't stand watching.
Very unique concept for a video. I don't think I've seen this done by any other hockey youtubers. Good group of players you chose for the video too. Depth players don't get enough credit in the nhl. It's always about the top scorers but the teams that win a cup always run 4 lines with confidence.
More often than not too the team that wins it usually has someone from the bottom lines go off and score at a ridiculous pace in that playoff run
That big ass bucket the Nike/Bauer version of the 5000 was.
Ya should do a video of most draft picks by a single team in one draft and what they drafted with them
I'd love to see Grabner come to the Red Wings or the Sabres. I think he'd make a good 3rd line option for both teams
Also video idea - bottom six forwards/ bottom pairing defence that had decent/good seasons in terms of points
Maybe do a list of the best Trade for draft pick(s) that actually turned out to be good. For example, Kiprosoff for a 2nd round pick (that would turn into Marc-Edouard Vlasic)
Steve Staios? Waived by the Bruins after 64 games, he went on to play 1000+ games in the NHL.
only real ones know that grabner play 20-30 games with NJ in the 17-18 season
With the World Juniors coming up soon, you should do a video on the top 5 biggest upsets at the world juniors
It still burns me up the way the Leafs threw away the Timmins Tornado
I want some recaps of classic playoff series
Pls do best 7th round draft picks
Martin Gelinas should be in here. He got picked up on waivers by Canucks for the 1994 Stanley Cup run.
Grabner like Crosby benefited greatly from NHL rules changes eliminating the clutch and grab off the puck holding. This was undervalued by Vancover/Florida.
Keep up the great vids.
You should do a menu on on the skill competition competition from All Star weekends begins on fastest slap short hardest slapshot histories
In the Ottawa Senators inaugural 1992-93 season they claimed defenseman Norm Maciver off waivers from Edmonton. Maciver would lead the team in scoring with 63 points. It would stand as a record for most points in a season by a Senators defenseman until Erik Karlsson broke it 20 years later.
Best players debutising after 30 years of age would be interresting. Also great vid!
Woo Early Gang!!! Love the videos man!!
You know what I miss?
The waiver draft. That shit was genius!
Favorite player from each team or biggest suspensions
This vid is going to be very entertaining I already know
Thanks for the heart been a fan since 15k keep up the good work
You should do a vid on potential regression candidates. Like guys who performed way above their usual standards last year and are probably going to regress this year. For example I highly doubt JT Miller will be a point per game player again this year
How it's decided if two or more teams are claiming same player?
You should do a best trade at the draft
You are a redwings fan? How you leave put draper?
Kovalchuk, he got claim and got trade vs a third round pick after
Video idea: mismanaging goalies mistake.
Teams that traded one goalie that ended up being the better goalie and had success in another uniform.
Hope u like this! I love your channel! Keep up the great work
Dominic Moore also scored the goal that took the 2014 Rangers to the Stanley Cup
That Peverley trade the Thrashers made was a good trade because Blake Wheeler is now the all time leading in points for the Thrashers/Jets since he played with both of the teams
Dom Moore will always be a Ranger legend for that goal against the Habs to send us to the Stanley Cup Finals
Krieder intentionally crashing price and injuring him got the rangers to the finals
Here is a idea: best players drafted in the past decade to be over a 50 th overall. I now that you did one for a couple players but it would be cool ifvyou did a vid with a hole bunch of them.
Love your vids
Not sure how the logistics would work but I'd love to see something with players who pass the Eye Test vs players who are statistical wonders.
The first thing that comes to mind as a Flyers fan is JVR vs Kevin Hayes - JVR is a macro/microstat darling who pretty much outshines Hayes in every regard despite being stuck on the third/fourth lines for most of the season, but most Flyers fans feel like he's expensive dead weight because of how AV's used him. Meanwhile anyone in the stats community will say that Hayes is one of the worst contracts in the league right now by the numbers, but you'd be hard pressed to find a Flyers fan that actually hates him because of what he's done for the penalty kill, his knack for clutch goals, and just making the team fun again.
You should do a video on players that had one good year
Top ten times changing positions paid off
Can you do greatest like “tryouts”
For example 1 year deals that ended up being gems
Robin Lehner would be on that list twice, with the Isles and the Blackhawks. I wish they kept him on the island but I’m happy to see him locked up with a strong team, he’s earned that opportunity
Met Dominic Moore once. All around great guy, we talked for like an hour
Nieto was a very good pickup for the avs, not many points but the value was good
Idk if you made it but maybe greatest comebacks from offtime in Europe?
"Bryzgalov was the odd man out"
Heh, I see what you did there
do a video with players who came out of nowhere or when players became stars when no one thought they would be
Bryzgalov with Phoenix was a great waiver pickup
Remember watching Grabner playing here with the Moose back in the day, he tore up the AHL, always confused me why the Nucks dealt him.
Maybe they couldn’t give him the ice time because they had the likes of the twins , bertuzzi, naslund , etc . I don’t know either but that’s my thought . Cheers
Dom Moore was so good with the rangers him in the face off circle and on the pk is still being missed
Get ohnyquist to 50k,c'mon everyone!
Idk if you’ve done this before, but what about a video about times trading for a rental paid off
I can't believe Zenon Konopka isn't on the list. After being picked up on waivers by the Sabres in the 2013-14 season, he recorded one entire assist in 23 games! But following him and his bunny on Twitter may have saved a lot of Sabres-fans from simply jumping off the nearest bridge that season, and saving lives is more important than scoring points. ;)
Edmonton placing Ray Whitney on waivers and being picked up by Florida has been 1 of the dumbest moves by Edmonton/greatest moves by Florida.
Do best goaltender seasons on losing teams
Both of the Canadiens legendary claims, Paul Byron and Ilya Kovelchuk
Isles picked up Chris Osgood on waivers in 2001.
Grabovski was a very solid waiver pickup
Vid idea: most surprising playoff performances
I know it’s been a topic you’ve talked a bit about before, but what about the history of Offer Sheets?
I love these videos.
We want to see you play hockey. Please that would be amazing.
Gustav Forsling, he’s now gonna be our first pair d man
Good god I forgot how horrendous those all brown Thrashers jerseys were
OH NYQUIST THE GOAT!!!!!!
So.. Just to get this straight.. The Devils traded Steve Sullivan to Toronto in 97' for Doug Gilmore.. In 98' Gilmore would then signed with Chicago. A year later the Leaf's then put Sullivan on Waivers and Chicago took him. So we essentially just gave two 60+ point scorers to Chicago with no return. If I knew this, Lou letting Kovy, Parise and Clarkson walk wouldn't have stung so bad.
