I was lucky enough to be at Cale Makar's Hobey ceremony sitting in the 3rd row man what a down to earth guy, his acceptance speech was amazing

No offense to the guy who created this video but Geoffrion didn't just 'hit' his head. The guy could have died from a skate blade into his skull.
He's also the great grandson of Habs Legend Howie Morenz.

It’s cause the eastern teams are better, and all of the 2014 to 19 except for one were Massachusetts players

That second one won't work
for the fourth line one, it could be ones that stayed in that position for a while, but it’d probably narrow down a lot
“University of Massatoosets”. Fun fact: MA has a few UMass schools. Makar went to Amherst. Lowell is probably the best of the bunch for hockey.

Ryan Vogt yep, Taylor Makar. We’ll see if he can match his brothers stats. Cale is an amazing player, and I would like to see Taylor become one too
leblanc plays for my hometown team and we freaking love him here, might be the best playmaker in the league (most assists this season despite missing 10+ games), unfortunately i think we wont be able to resign him :(

Blake Geoffrion actually stopped being the assistant GM of the now Cleveland Monsters at the end of 2018-19. He became a pro scout for Columbus again at the start of the 2019-20 season, he's one of 3 pro scouts for CBJ along with Bob Halkidis and Rich Sutter.

Basically, younger hobey baker winners are more likely to become NHL stars than older ones
Prior to 2014, the award was more hit-or-miss with only a handful of quality NHLers like Neal Broten (1981, first winner), Tony Hrkac (1987), Paul Kariya (1993), Chris Drury (1998), Ryan Miller (2001), Matt Carle (2006).
I think it's the case for two reasons
- The USHL, especially the USNTDP, have been more productive in recent years in producing NHL talent that decide to go to the NCAA route. Of the last 6 winners, 2 were USNTDP players (Eichel, Butcher) and 3 played in the USHL (Gaudreau, Eichel, Butcher)
- NCAA Hockey has been growing steadily in the past 20 years

It should be Jordan Kawaguchi from UND this year. He's been the lifeblood on one of the best NCAA teams. I'm pretty sure he had more 2 or 3 point games than games with no points this season.
FYI:
The season wasn't put on pause in the SHL. They completed it and canceled the post-season.
A season in the Swedish Hockey League is "only" 52 games so Jack Connolly couldn't put up more numbers then he did.

I remember there was so much talk about who was going to sign Vesey. Lots of Hawks fans crossing their fingers that summer hoping he would be on a line with Toews. That hype is now gone

The problem with the Baker is that it's typically recognizing players in their final year of NCAA eligibility. If they were Top-6 material in the NHL, they would be playing in the NHL. You can always go back to college - you can't reclaim lost professional years (and professional paycheques).
Gaudreau's a bit of a different story, his size made him undesireable at the time - he's obviously one of the players who has re-written the size expectations of an NHL player (for the better)
So I'm not a huge hockey fan, but since St. Louis won the Stanley Cup (I go for all teams and former teams from St Louis), I've been trying to get into hockey more and watching videos. I have a question about Andy Miele. If he won the best college player, why did he go undrafted?

He's basically the Defenseman version of Nathan MacKinnon. Maybe not as fast, but he's an amazing skater.
S Choudhry For a Dman and practically his first full year he’s putting up more points than forwards, a lot of forwards actually, and he was out for like 3 weeks of more.

I was baffled Connor didn’t win it at the time. But vesey had the kind of year that could win the award the previous year and I feel like the panel who decide the winner dont like to give freshman the award over seniors because they account outside factors such as grades and team success and team work. Also giving it to a freshman 2 years and a row may have been a factor. Unfortunate for Connor who on the ice was the better player.
