@saycero let's be fair. Ham did have a very competitive car. Newey enjoyed out engineering the mercedes team. In the end though, skill is also a factor. Hamilton is getting on in years while Max is barely in his 20s. If you don't keep your skills sharp you loose them over time. Even if you remove Abu Dhabi, Max would have won based on races won (9 ver vs 8 ham). When you do the math on all the points they may have seemed even, but reality was Max had the race wins in Mexico.
I always feel personally that Verstappens performance caught both Hamilton and Toto off guard, they expected him to make mistakes under pressure in a race that will cost him points sort of how Vettel did but the opposite happened, Lewis made mistakes that cost himself more points than Max to himself.

Basically, all the risks and penalties of pitting were removed after Christian Horner got on radio to send the message to Michael Masi.
For all the crybabies here, let’s not forget that Max would have already been champion this season probably weeks before the start of this AD21 race if he had not been knocked out of the race by Hamilton at Silverstone. It's the rules... if there is a restart behind the safety car the whole field crams up behind the safety car and the lapped cars are asked to unlap so the "order" is correct. The only difference here the Lewis fans are complaining about is that he should have let the other 3 cars unlap aswell
After Silverstone I really didn't care if Max would get some controversial points. Also, people complaining that the championship was decided on track instead of behind a safety car should be forced to watch a dvd player screensaver instead of races since they are so pro boredom.
They both drove hard throughout the season and both equally deserved the trophy. I genuinely think their tie in points was completely great. It did come down to the final race. Both Verstappen and Lewis drove incredibly well during that race. I have nothing against Max for taking that championship. The FIA made a bad call and stole the race from Hamilton. I believe Hamilton deserved the championship. I don't mean that in any way against Max, but rather, against the FIA.

I get why the they did the end like that, I agree with their approach to the idea, however, they royally screwed it up, took too long to decide to do it so no time to do it properly.
3 years on and people still trying to defend this??!! Love the patronising way Toto was told “it’s motor racing”. Change the rules so any crash in the last 10 laps that needs a safety car gets upgraded to red flag so it re-starts under controlled fair condition. Don’t change the rules mid race to benefit a driver who’d have gone on to finish second if the FIA rules laid out had actually been followed. To do what they did just so they had a “spectacle” to finish on is cheating, plain and simple.

In the end of the race, the race director Michael Masi let Verstappen with completely fresh Softs come alongside Hamilton who had 50 lap old Hards, even though it was Verstappen who ended up being behind a few lapped cars after pitting for those fresh Softs.
Basically, all the risks and penalties of pitting were removed after Christian Horner got on radio to send the message to Michael Masi.
For all the crybabies here, let’s not forget that Max would have already been champion this season probably weeks before the start of this AD21 race if he had not been knocked out of the race by Hamilton at Silverstone. So stop crying, we all have seen a season finale we will never forget. Lewis may have deserved the win in AD, but Verstappen is definitely the deserved World champion over this season. Period.

Max had the faster car the first 2/3rds of the season and He still needed the FIA to break the rules in the final race of the year to win. it baffles me people think he deserved the win.
Still found it unfair how they made the 4 or 3 cars in front of verstaphen go into the pits so he could be right next to Hamilton making the finale lap more interesting
It's the rules... if there is a restart behind the safety car the whole field crams up behind the safety car and the lapped cars are asked to unlap so the "order" is correct. The only difference here the Lewis fans are complaining about is that he should have let the other 3 cars unlap aswell

After Silverstone I really didn't care if Max would get some controversial points. Also, people complaining that the championship was decided on track instead of behind a safety car should be forced to watch a dvd player screensaver instead of races since they are so pro boredom.

They both drove hard throughout the season and both equally deserved the trophy. I genuinely think their tie in points was completely great. It did come down to the final race.
Both Verstappen and Lewis drove incredibly well during that race. I have nothing against Max for taking that championship. The FIA made a bad call and stole the race from Hamilton. I believe Hamilton deserved the championship. I don't mean that in any way against Max, but rather, against the FIA.
Have some shame, Max was getting absolutely SMOKED before the FIA made up new rules.

One wrong Masi did was not giving penalty for Max in Brazil where he pushed Lewis off the track on purpose unnecessarily.

3 years on and people still trying to defend this??!! Love the patronising way Toto was told “it’s motor racing”. Change the rules so any crash in the last 10 laps that needs a safety car gets upgraded to red flag so it re-starts under controlled fair condition. Don’t change the rules mid race to benefit a driver who’d have gone on to finish second if the FIA rules laid out had actually been followed. To do what they did just so they had a “spectacle” to finish on is cheating, plain and simple.
