The RB engine didn't show much of a performance degradation from new to used. Benz had the better engine new (clearly), but it would deteriorate after 3 races. I'm surprised Benz didn't catch on earlier and just hammer grid penalties for new engines. There was no cost cap in 2021.

Not by a mile imo. In his years at mclaren he drove the hell out of the car that he had. Having a car that's 2 seconds a lap faster than anyone else on the field, is cool and all, but it's pretty obvious a good driver will win with a car like that, no matter what place you start at. In Mclaren he didn't have the crazy car advantage, and still won many races. I think 2008 silverstone is one of his best for example.

One of the most spectacular races I've watched. The whole weekend was amazing! With this performance, Hamilton wrote his name once and for all as one of the greatest in the sport.

Having a car that's 2 seconds a lap faster than anyone else on the field, is cool and all, but it's pretty obvious a good driver will win with a car like that, no matter what place you start at. In Mclaren he didn't have the crazy car advantage, and still won many races. I think 2008 silverstone is one of his best for example.
