    The Zegras trade rumors are getting out of hand, it’s a fun talking point but there’s no credence to them, they were perpetuated by Seravalli who’s notoriously wrong about anything relating to the Ducks.
    The Ducks needed to trade from a position of strength on the blue line to acquire the sniper they’ve desperately needed for awhile, one that will complement elite playmakers like Carlsson and Zegras. Also Zegras played the middle over Cutter during his debut, Gauthier was on Leo’s wing and he’s better equipped as a winger anyway because he’s not an elite play driver like Zegras, Gauthier’s a big body that can thrive along the wall more so he’s perfect finisher to ride shotgun alongside a creative center.
    McTavish showed many warts in his defensive game as well and isn’t nearly as dynamic a creator as Zegras. I just don’t see a world where Anaheim trades their best pure distributor and most consistent offensive generator at this point in time, Verbeek himself confirmed they weren’t actively shopping Z

    • @andyvu1325

      Position of strength at defence is the biggest delusional take ever. Don't get me wrong, I love what Minty and Zellweger bring to the table but RD is looking very rough apart from Luneau (who doesn't really have top pair upside). So trading Drysdale for Gauthier wasn't a luxury more of Verbeek seing an opportunity to trade up assets without having to overpay. Trading Zegras is absolutely in the realm of possibilities especially if the Ducks can get multiple pieces helping the team

      @@andyvu1325Pointing out that Anaheim has Mintyukov, Zellweger, Luneau, LaCombe, Hinds, Warren, Dionicio, Helleson as young blue line options while having the chance to take a RD this upcoming draft is delusional? Lmfao alright buddy. I agree Luneau won’t be a top pair guy but Verbeek can take Levshunov or sign Roy or Pesce in free agency. Also there are no quantity of pieces at this current moment that will be commensurate to Zegras’ value in a possible deal that would help Anaheim more now and long term more than Zegras himself.

    Some might not necessarily consider him a star after his down season, but I think there’s a non zero chance Jeff Skinner gets moved. I think the Blackhawks would be very willing to take his contract for a sweetener that isn’t too crazy, as Skinner is likely the most talented winger (especially offensively) the Blackhawks could realistically get this summer to play with Bedard without giving assets to acquire, and the cap space shouldn’t really be an issue this year, and if things change by next offseason, his buyout next offseason is pretty good. As for the Sabres, Tuch, Thompson, Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, and probably Benson will be in the top 6, making Skinner obsolete.

    I'm late for the comments but I've seen a year of rumors of Zegras to Montreal...but it seems only based on the fact he played with Caufield in the World juniors and that's pretty much it...If we go by that logic, then Alex Turcotte, Jack Hugues, Boldy and Spencer Knight are the next target ? Honestly, unless there is something we don't know about the Rangers and Gorton or with the plans of the Blue Jackets, i think the real targets of Kent Hugues are Kappo Kaako and Kent Johnson who seems to fit more the profile he's looking for. In plan B, Jakob Pelletier and Ryan Suzuki with his later picks who seems to be abandon projects like when he got Dach and Newhook. Zegras might cost too much and i don't know in terms of culture if he's gonna fit well, don't know him well enough in terms of characters and Montréal are very selective of the kind of player they want, in a good way ! Yeah, if it wasnt for him the Leafs surely would have won... I mean Matthews, Nylander, Taveras and Reilly were KILLING IT!!! He is such a sorry hockey player, probably will have to retain and a sweetener for that loser...

      Marner and Matthews have nearly the same ppg in playoffs. Nylander is a distant third, and Tavares is out of view. I don’t quite understand why he is being made the fall guy for team failure. If it is true that he is no good in playoffs, then why would another team want him at $11 M a year; and what would the return be. The seller wants a lot, but a buyer won’t pay the price.

      @@jacobdill4499 hence why I asked who needs to add and who says no, thanks…plus 100 point producer vs a 68 point producer is not equivalent and so Parayko who actually had a down year would be a big piece to the leafs cap wise and because we need D-Men. So if u are saying leafs need to add more then yes I would probably agree, what else more? I’m not sure, maybe liljegren, Marner and Robertson for Parayko and Buch. Cap wise it works, and value seems a lot closer. Happy now?

    • @jacobdill4499
      @jacobdill4499 Před 9 dny

      Defining Parayko's year as a down year is interesting. By multiple accounts the season before this one was a down year and he has returned to form. In terms of points, you might be correct but I do not see a Leaf defensemen that is equivalent in ability to play defensively. The Blues might offer Krug or Faulk instead.

      @@CZcamsChannell7 The problem with your analysis is that Marner is not worth 10.5 million. IF he goes to free agency at the end of next year, he will probably be looking at 7.5 to 8 million.

    Marner's going nowhere. Once you get OT in any Game 7 against any opponent in any year its a coin flip finish. Samsonov needs to spend the off season practicing Johnny Bower's legendary poke check, that would have been the difference. Pastranak's winner was a softie for sure. Mathews was sick, Nylander was sick and Marner was just back a few games from a high ankle strain. The Leaf who disappointed most? Morgan Reilly and he's not going anywhere either.

      @user-ms7yk5fy5o Před 3 dny +1

      The keep talking about moving Marner he has a no movement clause, like Tavares, Matthews, Nylander and Reilly. The only way they would waive it is unless it is to a cup contending team and with the cap hits the leafs would have to eat up 50% of the hit if they want something and for Marner on 1 year left don't expect a lot unless there is a signed extension or trade
