    Kent Nilsson might be one of the most underrated players in NHL HISTORY. He had 131 points one season, the Flames franchise record. Back in the day Gretzky said Kent Nilsson was the most skilled player he ever played against. Nilsson also had 2 dominant years in the WHA & when Nilsson went to Edmonton, which was one of the weirdest things ever to see (think of Gretzky or Messier in a Flames jersey), Kent played on a line with Messier and Anderson which was one of the coolest and most talented lines in Oilers history

    Very interesting trade tree with some huge NHL stars. One mistake you made though was Joe Nieuwendyk scored 51 goals in his fantastic rookie season, not 55.
    Kent Nilsson in the 87 playoffs was fantastic for Edmonton. He was so great that the only way The Flyers could slow him down in The Finals was Ron Hextall doing his Paul Bunyan imitation on Nilsson's leg.
    As for the Nieuwendyk/Iginla trade I remember that very well. (I'm 52 and remember things like this!) Dallas traded a top prospect (Iginla) for the current superstar they needed to help win The Cup (Nieuwendyk). Calgary was rebuilding and wanted young talent for old, which is what they got in abundance.

    -It's another Flames trade, albeit one that _didn't_ really pan out for them in the end;

BUT, Iggy wasn't going to be playing with DK in 2013! He was going to play with Bergy & Marchand. Julian was NOT going to break up the DK, Horton & Lucic line barring an injury. Just started watching the video but i had to stop for this comment. Steve (I think think that's your name), Kent Nilsson was a SUPERSTAR back in the day, not just a "Star", he was a "SUPERSTAR". Gretzky, Dionne, Bossy, Trottier and Kent Nilsson were the Superstars in the early 80s

    I'm a bit confused. You called this the Iginla trade tree but chose to start with not the Iginla trade and because of that we don't see the Stars side of the Iginla trade play out 🤔
    Love the videos, though, keep 'em up!

    Joe Nieuwendyk didn't have 55 goals as a rookie like the video claims, he had 51 goals and fell 2 goals shy of tying Mike Bossy's rookie goal record of 53 goals. Temmu Selanne ended up beating Bossys record a few years later with 76 goals.

    Wait a minute. Ristolainen got a first round pick but a point a game player for over half a decade and a third was worth 2 seconds?? The hell did it take to get a first round pick back then? Lol

    Kent Nilsson basically came to Edmonton as a rental. The story goes that since Nilsson was notoriously adverse to going into corners and any rough going despite his huge offensive skills, Mark Messier took him aside. Messier was alleged to told him "Look you Swedish puke, you are going to play the way I tell you or I'm going to (nature of threat not specified, but allegedly contained many expletives and threats of bodily harm) Nilsson returned to Sweden for the next season but made a brief (six game) appearance with the Oilers in 1995.

    When Iggy was searching down teams to win a cup, he didn't have the best foresight. Signing with Colorado still boggles my mind.

    Kent Nilsson still has the best single season points total by a Swedish player in the NHL.
    By 15 points.

    Do a video on blues signing stevens to an offer sheet that caps didn't match. then blues signing shanahan as a free agent and losing stevens as compensation and giving devils a key cog to their three cup winners. And then blues trade pronger for shanahan. then wings trade coffey and primeau for shanahan giving wings the final piece and a cog in three cup winners as well.

    No Disrespect meant but, how Kansas City drafted Paiemont (and Hickey) led the way to the Flames obtaining Lanny (Lanny and Quenneville) by way of Colorado and winning the Stanley Cup for the Flames.

    Do a dangle video tree of horrible tdl trades of gm's going overboard acquiring every old dude they could find only to flame out in playoffs after that. Like holland's bone head '99 tdl moves to bring in chelios, as well as old broken down wendell clark, ulfie samuelsson, and bill ranford. Moves that made wings look old and tired and killed any chance wings had to three peat. Funny part of those moves is that chelios at 37 was supposed to be finished. He played with wings till '08 winning two more cups with them. Kinda similar to the pens '13 tdl shero moves to bring in every old guy they could find. Like the above mentioned Iginla whose best days were behind him, as well as b morrow, j. jokinen, and douglas murray. Moves that made the pens slow as s#it and iginla did not fit on pens as well. Too slow for their up tempo game.
