16:11 Justice
19:08 Misc
Bonus
1. BTK A Killer Among Us (2019) - good interviews but not great production, based on reenactments and outdated voice over.
2. Jodi Arias: An American Murder Mystery (2018) - a compressive story of one of the most evil women caught on camera, but it’s not the best production quality
3. Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery (2017) - I believe this is the same production as the one above. Huge content warning on this one, its shocking and disgusting.
4. The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey (2016)- this one has an interesting design as its more of a round table discussion.
5. Jimmy Savile (2020) terrifying case of an alleged abusers crimes who was a loved tv personality
6. The John Wayne Gacy Tapes (2022)
7. Meltdown three Mile Island (2022)
8. Sandpa Sins of the savior (2020)

You even broke them up into categories. Awesome!
😉
If you haven't watched it, Id recommend "tell me who I am" ( Netflix). It's about a middle-aged man finding out about his childhood from his twin brother. I loved it.
Yes!!! But it’s a doco feature. Otherwise it would be on here :)
I guess I'm a true crime documentary fan , I have seen 40 on your list . 10 new ones to watch , thanks for the recommendations . Saddest and most heartbreaking true crime doc for me was Dear Zachary , terrifying seeing my hometown in one of these docs .
Dear Zachary ruined me 🥺
Still the saddest documentary I’ve seen to date.
Paradise Lost has to be the most engaging true crime documentaries I've ever seen, and a lot of these look really good, too.
Brilliant list! Wild Wild Country is my personal fave, so much original video footage in it. Devilsdorp looks great, as does Prey, Obey, Kill. Cheers Emma you beaut
Thanks for the support
@@spookyastronauts Abducted in Plain Sight on Netflix. You will yell at your screen about the parents I did more than once.
Prey Obey Kill is great
@@shaynathompson8857 I can't seem to find it anywhere :(
Man, this is perfect timing! I was about to go hunting for a new true crime series to watch during my treadmill walks lol Thanks so much for this list!
This video is an absolute gem. True crime shows always have that unique type of spookiness which knowing these things are real and already happened makes it a lot more scarier. I have already watched plenty from the list and my favorites are 1-Wild wild country 2-Night stalker.
As a bonus I would also recommend Dear Zachary which is an extremely sad and well made doc.
Emma, you're the best! This list is incredible!
This is completely wonderful thank you!
This is an awesome list! Thank you so much!
omg my favorite type of docs@!! Thank you so much!!!
Thanks Emma. Awesome list! I've written them all down to watch soon.
Thank you so much for this list
Wow, what great list, Emma! I've seen several of these, but now I have more watching to do. Between all your great film and TV recommendations, I have more than enough to keep me glued to my new 75-inch TV!
Love content like this! I can make a smaller list off of this this that will keep me entertained for days. Great work.
Great list with new recommendations! One of my absolute faves is Brother's Keeper.
thank you for this
This was such awesome list Emma. I remember some of the stuff that took place on most these documentaries, especially the Gabriel Fernandez story. That was such a heart-breaking story see and listen and I still get pissed off about it.
This video is great, thanks!
Wow so many I have not seen but now want to! I absolutely love horror movies but they don't scare me, true crime documentaries do! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this list for us Emma!
Yes Emma! Thanks for some new recommendations. Please do the feature length list soon 👍
That Kalief Browder documentary still affects me to this day, just hearing you bring it up gets me emotional. There's obviously other docs that are horrifying (Gabriel Fernandez for example) but there's just something about the injustices that occurred to Kalief that just get my emotions going.
Thanks Emma love true crime documentaries
Three Identical Strangers is also heartwrenching
Yeah great movie, but it’s a feature not a series :) loved that movie so fascinating
Thank you Emma. This list is great. I love documentaries so I can't wait to dive in.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Great list
Oh no now that's all I'm gonna watch. You're the best
Such a great video Emma!! Def gonna check out like all of these!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Tanner!
Wild wild country sounds scariest so I'll watch that, great video Emma!
thanks so much for this video Emma. I’ve added many of these to my watchlist.
Thanks for watching
''Stay safe & stay spooky'' is perhaps, no joke, the best advice anyone has ever given me.
Fantastic list!! At times I feel like I’ve already watched everything.. but then you come out with these great recommendations lists & I’m able to add a few to my watchlist! 👏🏼👏🏼
😇😇😇
Thank you for the list 💙
Thanks for watching!
I had been looking forward to this! 😊 Yes to more true crime content!
Thanks Susie!
Love it ❤
Yaaaas Emma is really out here doing all the hard work for us 🖤✨ I hope you know you are appreciated. I watch a TON of true crime and even I got 5 new titles!
Thank you for the list! I've seen quite a few of these but there's lots mentioned here that I can't wait to check out..So many are frustrating and sad and very hard to watch. I'm glad however that these documentaries are available as they can help open our eyes to some very painful realities.
Agree! I would recommend the end category for some lighter ones, but unfortunately with true crime there’s always someone who is hurt by whatever crime happens
This is true.
never fail to disappoint! thanks for another great video will definitely be watching more than one of these
Enjoy!
Fantastic video thank you for all the recs! With so many there ought to be a few that we haven't seen yet. Shoot I've watched Wild Wild Country like three times! But I want to add that while adding these to my watchlist I stumbled upon "Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror" which is very likely not true crime but it has good reviews and thanks to your video I found it. Well done all around as usual 🙏
Yes ! That’s a very long doco I’ve heard a lot about it
I can only imagine how much time you invested to make this video. As always, awesome job! Also, I just met someone on a dating app and she's a true crime fan, so this video comes in handy :)
Great work Emma! You put so much effort into your videos, it's much appreciated
Thank you so much!
What a list!!! 50 series you’re amazing 🤩
Thank you so much 🙌🏼❤️❤️🙌🏼
Aaahhhh! Thank you !!!
This is LITERALLY all I need in my life. Thanks Emma queen of the Spooky Doc
Thanks for watching!!!!
Thanks!
Oh ive been looking for more true crime stuff to watch during work while WFH.
Hope you find some gems!
I totally agree! Docs and Mocks are my number two and three after Horror!
The Paradise lost trilogy while not a series along with Murder in West Memphis is definitely one of the best crime Docs ever made! The book The Devils Knot on the case is really good too!
The Elisa Lamb story ,series at The Cecil Hotel is a great one as well!
Holy jeepers! I just saw 'The Mole; Undercover in North Korea', and I completely understand your recommendation of this documentary.
I became increasingly horrified with each minute that passed by in this doc. Not a full-on panic type horror, but a creeping terror of just how nasty people in positions of power can be, and how dismissive they are about the pain they cause through their machinations.
If I thought people were planning repulsive things around food laden tables just to make a buck and/or a need to wield power, this doc nailed my fears down with an anvil!
Thanks for the recommendation!
Hey Emma - just wanted to say thanks from Sydney! Your show is gold and I look forward to it. I can see how much work you put into it and love your natural presentation style. I'm amazed at how deep the well of horror movies is, and how much good material is still being produced (watched 168 movies 2021, mostly forgotten B horror and Giallo). My top two for 2022 so far are X and The Sadness. Cheers.
Thanks Leon
Thanks for recommending Devilsdorp! It was such a shocking and impossible story until I watched it.
true crime is my fav genre ✅
Ahhh. .. I love this! You have true crime lists too. You're the best! I have watched a lot of these. I enjoy true crime docs and podcasts. Much to my husband's chagrin (lol)
I just watched The Girl in the Picture on Netflix. I know its not a docuseries but it was intense. Mysteries wrapped in mysteries. But the content is, like i said, intense.
I love your work. Don't always agree with your opinions which makes it even better! Lol Hope you feel better!
I just watched it too! Sooooo intense! So sad
My watchlist can't even handle this awesome video!
Hahah thank you !!!
Great list. There's tons of stuff i'm interested in watching, especially the ones involving cults.
Another cult fan 👋🏼
Great list Emma! As always, your content is so worth it! I just didnt find the bonus titles in the comments:p
It’s in the description box :)
@@spookyastronauts found it right after I left that comment:p. Thanks 😊
Never been a huge fan of true crime stuff but your video was still really good and informative. I even found some stuff I'll give a watch! Thank you.
Thanks that means a lot to me.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I am considering this video a gift 🥳 Thanks for the recs, Emma!
Happy birthday !
My mom took her infant daughter to the town in Wild, Wild, Country in the 80’s, because she “Wanted to see the weird people in orange.” Apparently everyone was nice, they were just weird. This was before they actively tried poisoning people.
A few I haven’t seen, wonderful
Thanks for watching
I was convinced you wouldn’t tell me of any I didn’t know about as I’m a true crime fiend.
I stand corrected with 10 news shows to add to my list. Thanks Emma!
Thank you so much for taking the time to put this list together! There are a few I need to check out. If you haven’t already, check out Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills. It’s really old but so good!
Yes I have! But I figured that was a series of films? I’m not sure if it counted as a mini series?
@@spookyastronauts
Oh that’s right! I’m sorry I completely forgot about that!!! Thanks again for this list it is epic and I have so many to watch!! Yay!
The staircase is even more wild when you realize they put so much effort into convicting him only to believe years later that she was actually killed by an owl
Waaait what?
What a great list, there's so much here I haven't seen! Wild Wild Country was absolutely insane, I still recommend it to people.
Yeah it’s hard to even comprehend tbh
This is just the video I needed. Thanks Emma! 😊
I live in Humboldt County, CA from the Murder Mountain documentary 😉
Oh my gosh ! Stay safe haha
I don't particularly care for the true-crime series because they often feel dragged out an episode or two too long, so I'd love to see a list of documentary films in the future.
Great video. I've seen so many of these. Plus I've seen some of the scripted dramas like how The Staircase has the doc on Netflix and the mini series (so far) on HBO Max.
what an amazing list!!! I have watched 98% of this list and I can vouch for most they are all good some better then others but overall if your a true crime junkie then this list is such a goodie!
Thank you so much!
Love this video! Happy to add a few to my watchlist!! I highly recommend TREAD from 2019/2020! (Movie not a series 😉) thanks Emma! 😊😊
Ooo thanks!
It’s here!!
When I was in high school, the one thing that was *always* playing in my house was Investigation Discovery, it was almost a compulsion to put it on while I did my homework lol
Hahaha! Emma! Your video was up to where you say "If you're not into this world yet, this is where you should start. Let's start with" The Staircase". At that point, it cut to an ad for "The Staircase" on Binge! Brilliant.
Hahaha love that
Evil genius was amazing
I thought I would have seen all of the ones on your list, but damn if you didn't pull a few out for me to add to my watch list. Bless you, Emma. This was an amazing deep delve into one of my favorite genres.
I thought I’ve watched a lot of documentary series. I don’t think I’ve seen half of these. Thank you!!
No problem! That you for the support
Me: Oh, yay! Some more true crime stuff to watch!
Me after watching the video: I have seen all but two of these. 😂
Gabriel Trials and Kalief gutted me. I sobbed through both of them.
The Pharmacist is one of my favorites. So many twists and that guy is just a bad ass.
The Kalief Browder Story enraged me. I'm still fůčƙēð up about it
im halfway through the video and you probably brought it up or i just missed it but i have another doco reccomendation;
the cult of the family, a three part miniseries on netflix about an australian cult - which also includes a lot of extreme abuse. its incredibly intense, especially as it interviews former victims of the family and has them talk about the cult in their own words. id also reccomend, considering how much compliance disturbs you, don't pick up the phone, which is about the strip scam searches that inspired the movie.
edit: after finishing cult of the family & dont pick up the phone, i decided to start wild wild country. wish me luck!
OMG! You are an angel! This is just in time! I'm home with the flu and so sick of the internet. This will serve me well. Thanks heaps Emma! I also have to mention that my step mum lived in the Indian Rajneeshi commune from Wild Wild country for twenty years. She subscribed to Netflix just to watch the doco to see if there were any friends in it 😂 there are. She says the doc is mostly accurate. They had good intentions but power corrupts people.
Wow!!! That’s interesting, hope she’s ok! Hope you recover soon too
@@spookyastronauts thanks Emma. Yeah, she's fine. She thinks of it as a good time in her life and took a lot of nice things away from experience like friendship, meditation etc. She's the sweetest step mum and grandma ever, we're so lucky to have her in our lives.
I would love a version of this video for all the true crime podcasts you've listened to!!
I don’t listen to much tbh, usually once off wondery single topic ones, and Mike higher. I try keep my podcasts light now days
I started watching Abducted in Plain Sight, and honestly for a minute I thought it was a joke. I quit because the whole thing is so batshit crazy.
It's a tough watch but definitely extremely unsettling and worth to watch in my opinion
I was so infuriated by the parents. So many red flags from the beginning. I could not decide if they were the dumbest people on the planet, or just inconceivably naive.
@@debbiemac1923 that's understandable, but "B" is literally a master manipulator and did many things to them in order to manipulate, threaten and control them as well as Jan. I think it's much more complicated than them being bad parents or unable to see what's going on.
@@ThatMeanderthal there’s definitely some weird psychology going on.
I find true crimen extremely disurbing but i love listening to you narrating things so I'm watching the video anyways😆
I'm late to the video but I would love a list of crime doc features.
"Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Fatherz" almost made me cry when I first saw it.
"Capturing The Friedmans" is really good and the story goes some places that you don't expect.
"Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills" really set the standard for what we consider crime docs now I belive. All 3 of the Paradise lost films are crazy and tell a continuous unforgettable story.
Each of these crime docs are essential for the genre and I would love your thoughts in a future video, if you ever have time.
Amazing list! I enjoyed “Sophie” but had to watch with subtitles as I could not understand anyone
Damn I thought I got here fast but the troll accounts got here faster! Excited to see your recommendations, I’ve seen so many, for better or worse.
I would DEFINITELY recommend Crazy, Not Insane on HBO Max!
The Devil Next Door is a frightening watch too, I strongly recommend!
Oooo thanks!
Again so happy to have found your channel I hope this isn’t coming across weird but you remind me of Sadie in the Netflix series Stranger Things do you ever get that! Your gorgeous either way love the red hair jealous AF! Beautiful keep up the amazing videos love your channel 🫶🏽👯♀️
Surviving R Kelly is also a really good one, although warning again it will make you angry and sad and it involves abuse
Great list, but I was surprised not to see Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son about His Father (2008), Capturing the Friedmans (2003), Crazy Love (2017), The Imposter (2012) or one of the all time besr- The Thin Blue Line (1988). Great list, though!!
Oh crap...you were focused on series only...my bad!
Yeah I was about to say those are all documentaries! Which is why I explained that at the start :)
I think I didn't see this one: The Puppet Master, Hunting the Ultimate Conman. It's on Netflix and it's about a person who impersonates a MI5 agent to kidnap and steal money from people. Very impressive documentary.
Hi Emma, Thanks for this Huge list of true crime documentaries,😊 I listened while Driving, so at home when I've time, I'll rewatch this on TV & type in Notes on my cell or write down Each series name, etc, as there's too Many to remember! So far, I've only seen Don't f*** w/Cats, Phoenix Rising, 1 other I can't recall now, & I saw on ID Investigation Discovery on Demand their 3-part Doc re The Staircase, which was very Thorough & Good; so I began the 2004 Original on Netflix, but don't think I need to watch it too.
Roll Red Roll!
Idea: 50 Underrated Slashers most horror fans don't know of
I wish there were even 10!
💛😎💖great video
The keepers should not be missed
50?? Impressive. Hope you are ok Emma
Hi
What about the 2021 documentary series called Sasquatch
It is very important and well done
Thanks
I always watch these on my vacation from work then stay in bed
Hope you have some time off soon
The Trials of Gabriel Hernandez was so painful to me, I cried a lot, I have to take my time and watched slowly, because was too much for me.
Totally agree. It’s pure evil
Dayum. Didn’t know there were so many true crime docs
Hope this helps!
