Sinister is one of the only movies that genuinely scares me. Still to this day.
It's the only horror movie I've watched more than 30 times and it manages to get me every single time! Just a fantastic film
@@maykruvi same!
The lawnmower scene kills me
Itâs really the audio and the true tension
I agree...,,đ infact there was a poll few years back to find out all time scariest film by a scientific method, by attaching hearbeat monitors in audiences and some other stuff. Sinister topped this..đ
YES for video about Sinister. I honestly dont get why ppl think its scary
The first time i saw it was traumatized for how many jump scares and weird creepy imagery, but then i watched it again and it wasnât anything like i remembered, like why did it affect me so bad the first time!?
I thought Iâd leave the movies I watched this month if anyone is interested:
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) - 2.5/5
- Widows (2018) - 3/5
- Scream (2022) - 3.5/5
- The Blackcoatâs Daughter (2015) - 4/5 (a new fav)
- Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999) - 3.5/5
- Sugar & Spice (2001) - 3.5/5
- (rewatched all scream movies)
- John Tucker Must Die (2006) - 3/5
- I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) - 2.5/5
- Jawbreaker (1999) - 3/5
- First Daughter(2004) - 3.5/5
- Three Months (2022) - 4/5 (really recommend this one, loved it)
- Daniel Isnât Real (2019) - 3/5
Cool list!!đ€
The Blackcoat's Daughter scared the f out of me. A24 is very good at atmospheric, slow burn movies and that one isn't a disappointment. I was so confused up until the twist!
Another great movie that came out in February is No Exit (2022) on Hulu i believe. Really great thriller.
The Fallout instantly became one of my favorite movies, and Jenna Ortega became one of my favorite actresses. This movie felt so real and actually rly relatable (despite me never going through anything like that). It just felt like these characters were people I knew in real life with their dynamics and relationships and the way they deal with things.
THE RUNNER was pretty much a long music video for a band from Savannah, Georgia. It was pretty much a documentary, music video, and horror movie all in one. I think it was beautifully done for what it was. I hope more people look into them. Cause I hope that group of people continue making stuff.
Thisđđ BOY HARSHER LET'S GOOO
The woman in the street from the window across the house was very enjoyable to me.
If youâre in the UK, you can find The Mole on BBC if you have a TV license. Iâm going to check it out this week, thanks for the recommendation Emma. I love these monthly wrap ups đ
Itâs under the title âStoryville,â just in case anyoneâs having trouble finding it
Thanks Hannah!
When I watched Sinister the first time I was excepting something very different and I noticed I had a hard time focusing on it. But then years later I gave it another shot, watched it in the dark, I was alone and had headphones on and it was such a good & terrifying experience. I think the sound design is so haunting.
Sinister 1 is always special to me because it was such a surprise when it came out. When I first saw it. It co.bined jumpscares with disturbing imagery that really sticks with you.
so excited for that 100k wrap up, emma! congratulations in advance! been here since 40k woot woot
Love your reviews, you just need a wider audience! Thanks for sharing your mindshare.
It breaks my heart that you gave Sinister 2 and a half stars:( itâs in my top 10 favorite horror movies but nothing ever beats when you watch it for the first time
i think I love sinister so much because when it came out I was 12 yo and they played trailer when I was home alone at night. the memory of real terror I felt, stayed with me to this day đ what a fond memory. I watch it every Halloween. please do a video about this film!
Your monthly recaps are some of my favorites! The amount of films I've added to my list thanks to you is growing every single week. Would love a video about Sinister, it's my favorite horror story, not because it's the best, it has its flaws, but I absolutely love the sound design in this film, really helps the horror aspects.
I'm thinking I need 'The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window' right about now. Something a little lighter and fluffier might cheer me up. Thank you for reminding me about this show!
As for 'Euphoria' - whew! What a season!! And yes, episode 5 (season 2), took my breath away.
One recommendation "Raised by Wolves " on HBO Max, it's Science Fiction, but to me it is Science fiction as its bestđ
Thank you for another great list, Emma! I'm excited to watch many of them. Two more I'd like to recommend - "They Live In the Gray," a horror movie about a social worker who discovers an evil presence in a family's home. Very well-acted. And "Boiling Point," a tense drama shot in one uninterrupted take about a restaurant, its wait staff, and a very important guest. This film was in my Top 5 of 2021.
It honestly amazes me that you manage to watch all you do with the rest of your busy life! I don't blame you for giving up on some of those series. I have trouble watching more than one episode if something doesn't catch my attention.
Glad you liked Power if the Dog. I thought it was brilliant to see such an affective western that had no overt violence and zero guns in it.
I always think the same thing when I see a kid giving some incredible performance in a film...like when I was that age (or even now) I definitely didn't have the attention span or discipline to learn lines and make call times or the emotional depth to give a convincing performance.
Remember loving the first part of Sinister when it focuses on the undefined dread of the snuff tapes. As soon as the ghosts appear I found it lost everything it had built up and by that it lost me completely.
Thanks for talking about The Fallout đ Iâve been waiting, glad you enjoyed it too. Also Zola, Thunder Road and Power of the Dog â€ïž I aware I was gripping the cinema seat for two hours straight in Power of the Dog. saw a Korean film called Spy Goes North that I know is based on a true story and I wonder if itâs the same as The Mole? I do remember getting spooked by Sinister at the cinema. It blew my mind finding out the kid in Câmon Câmon was British! Station Eleven is scratching that itch that the new The Stand series failed to for me. I have a few eps left too.
Sinister is one of my favorite movies!! The scenes with the film are amazing
I'm really glad you're getting into Station Eleven. I really loved the show and the book.
I just started Euphoria, and it's like a bad trainwreck. I can't stop watching. I'm invested in these messy people and their lives.
Station Eleven was fantastic and had one of the best finales of any TV series Iâve ever seen. No spoilers but it left me floored.
Please do a video about Sinister; it is flawed, but has a lot of elements I like (partial found footage, a likable but flawed protagonist, a situation you can see yourself in). It is more creepy than scary, and it is one of those movies that are less scary in retrospect due to being copied by others.
I truly think the first scene in Thunder Road is one of the best performances of all time.
Thanks Emma, loads more on my watch list now (as if 872 titles wasn't enough) đ đ x
Hello there,
First I absolutely loved The Fallout. I think the film handled a very sensitive subject in a very beautiful, respectful way.
Second, I actually really like Sinister. I find it creepy and its kind of a comfort movie in a lot of ways. For me, it scratches the itch of true crime and paranormal and I personally love Ethan Hawke. The music and sound design is top notch too, which really helps sell it for me.
I totally appreciate you sharing things that you did not finish, I sometimes find myself feeling like I need to push through it, but time is valuable and I want to enjoy the content I am consuming so its nice seeing someone with your platform identifying when you have done so, and do it very respectfully.
Thanks Dustin! That means a lot to me!
You are almost a 100.000 subs!!!!đđđđ
"I remember damage. And escape."
RE: 'Station Eleven'.
I've been bingeing on this show, (currently on episode 7), and had to tell you about an extraordinary experience.
Five minutes into the first episode, and I thought to myself, "I've traveled this path before, in a significant way. I have lived this experience."
Turns out that I HAD listened to the audiobook of this novel about five years ago, and that story was an incredibly moving, chilling, beautiful ride. It was like wading into a dark pool filled with mysteries and magic. Well, you can tell it still lives in my head. So many scenes from the book are like scenes from a personalized and pervasive movie.
The series, with some updates and changes to improve the overall realism and continuity, captures all the emotions and ambiguity of the novel.
It came as no surprise that the writer, creator, and other duties as required person, Patrick Somerville, wrote for 'The Leftovers', (another brilliant television show that nestles somewhere in my heart).
This show has cast it's spell on me. I really hope that continues right up to the conclusion, that it keeps delivering the goods. If it does, I can add it to the selected list of shows that know me and sees me...and then breaks my heart and hands me a toolbox to help me put myself back together.
It's possible that the ideal viewer of this show might be someone who has read the book. I really don't know. From my experience, the basic knowledge of the story adds an intense frisson. I had a real need to see what was in the book to be writ large within the show.
Mackenzie Rio Davis as Kirsten is an inspired casting choice, and the rest of the cast is just knocking it out of the park.
Television at its finest. Thank you for recommending it. How tragic would it have been if I hadn't watched it!
I really like Sinister. Supernatural is not my favourite, but this one was very well done. Great atmosphere. Take a look at 'No Exit', it's from an Australian director, Damien Power. Great trailer.
I actually just added No Exit to my watchlist and was wondering if it was good or not. I love Sinister too! Baghuul is one of the scariest villains in my opinion.
So my new watches for February are mix of horror and other genres:
-House of the Devil
-The Exorcism of Emily Rose
-Body Snatchers
-Nightmare Alley
-Sin City
-The Devilâs Advocate

I didn't expect to like " the woman across the street from the girl in the window "as much as i did! I thought it was going to be a parody comedy and I didn't like the woman in the window but it was a decent murder mystery
Iâm so glad you saw Câmon Câmon! đ My favorite film of the year!
The Runner is a Boy Harsher short. It's all their songs, made for this project. Recommend checking the band out if you are into darkwave, goth electronic music.
Thank you for including Station Eleven. i read the book and loved it, now looking forward to watching the series. Great video, thanks for sharing! đđ»đđ»đđđ
This channel is brilliant to find out what stuff to watch. Keep up the good work
But of fun trivia, Mass is directed by Fran Kranz, Marty from Cabin in the Woods. And I really enjoyed Inventing Anna until the last episode. There was WAY too much yelling and drama for me.
Definitely gonna have to check out See For Me, I got to meet the director back in 2017 and he was a great guy.
It was super good and intense
@@toddpacker4683 That's awesome to hear!
My partner and I actually jumped with our arms in the air when we saw Jim Cummings in the new Halloween!!! :D
Totally with you on All of us are dead. I had to struggle really hard to get through the first episode. I liked the way the zombies moved and twitched but I just couldn't get past all the dialogues and the humor was totally lost on me.
My very last movie watched in February was "All the moons". I loved it and NEED to recommend if you haven't seen it yet. Of course if you have seen it, please say you like it too!
Awesome video, Emma! Thank you!
Thanks Emma looking forward to the march preview as always. You suggested some great content for Feb. :)
thank you Emma. i always appreciate your content, your monthly round ups are my favorite, big love and stay spooky
Also I canât wait to see more of Hunter Schaffer. Canât wait for the rest of her career.
For those of you who are on the fence on watching All Of Us Are Dead. I know it was a fail for Emma but this show was really really good to me. To the point where I can't wait for next season, definitely worth a watch if you're looking for a new show.
Liked it when I watched it. But I can't help but wonder that it was overly dramatized to make it emotional.
At one point I felt like they forcing us to cry.
But if you get comfortable with the show, you'll binge watch it.
Station Eleven is an almost perfect show. Itâs spectacular. I read the book and it was one of my top rated last year. The show is way different but even better than the book. 5/5
Yes Euphoria is amazing - a must watch. Another Alicia Silverstone movie to miss - The Requin. Thanks for the recommendations
Great list Emma. Still havenât seen both Zola or Mass. Need to fix that. Thanks for the reminder and for posting this video!
The Fallout and Mass (and Texas Chainsaw Massacre?)
Am I sensing a theme for the month?
Euphoria is amazing. Best show airing right now. I gave up on Korean zombies after "Peniunsula". It was like watching an American movie from 15 years ago. And "Shondaland" is a place I donÂŽt wanna visit again. ItÂŽs so soapy, contrived and fake...
The Mole is on BBC Iplayer in UK. It's part of an award winning documentary series called Storyville that has some great films. Most proving fact is stranger than fiction. If anyone outside UK gets surfshark and access Iplayer look up the series of Storyville.
Always love to see these! Also was so curious about what you thought of Uncharted since you have said before action isnât really your cup of tea and I saw you watched it. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and would like to point out that Tom Holland is also in The Devil All the Time and if you forgot that, that makes me so happy in a sense cause that means he totally transformed enough that you didnât know. (Sorry if thatâs a weird thing to say, I just think heâs a good actor soâŠ?)
Sinister is a feel good movie to me:)
Have you seen The Long Walk by Mattie Do? It's about to get an American release, but has been making the rounds. It's so, so good and seems like it could be your vibe.
Totally off topic, but I love your lip color. It looks great on you. I'd love to know the brand/color.
Oh...and I love Sinister. I think Baghuul is one of the scariest villains in recent years, and Ethan Hawke is always great. Something about his face (Baghuul) just scares me to my core. He's always just lurking in the background and it gives me chills.
Thunder Road is so good, it hits.
Great list my list for 70s horror movies 1Texas chainsaw massacre 2 the last house on the left3 the hills have eyes4 the exorcist5 alien movie 6 zombie flesh eaters 7dawn of the deadđ
Anyone in the US have tips for watching The Mole? Canât figure it outâŠ
I did enjoy station 11, I think i preferred the beginning of the season more. The ending was a bit of a miss for me. I love Mackenzie Davis so will watch anything she's a part of.
Emma, Thanks for your great
Feb review, & advice re which movies, etc to watch. You don't know me personally, yet I sincerely recommend you watch "The Cleansing Hour" on Shudder, as I truly think you'll Like it & may even want to review it.đ Sincerely,
Shelley S. from Beaverton, OR
What an awesome rundown! You're my favorite Horror reviewer! I hope you will do a review for The Cursed (formerly Eight For Silver). I saw it first in 2021 @ Sundance and again recently on the big screen. A wonderful, 19th century, mood piece and a unique take on the werewolf genre!
Cursed isnât coming to Australia đ„Č
đ„Č
I had the same reaction to "All of Us Are Dead". Fell asleep during the third episode.
the series "Wolf Like Me" was really great
Fallout movie was so good in Euphoria tv show series in HBO max is so good too đ in Emma thank you for telling us about it
VOD for March
My wife and I binged the Kristen bell show in one night. Didnât think I would like it but I was hooked.
I loved Inventing Anna but could not get into All of us are dead. I feel the exact way about Sinister, both movies get a 2.5 I think I do prefer the second one but only slightly, it's a easy rewatch though despite feeling meh on it.
I'm rooting for Power of the Dog and West Side Story at the Oscars. And Encanto. And Cyrano for best costume lol
Someone will have to let me know if they agree, but Sinister did and will always scare me. I think the fact that I'm a parent definitely added to how frightening I found the film. The ending really left me feeling very bleak.
The sequel had scary moments but ultimately didn't leave a mark like the original did.
Loved Station 11......
I considered doing that whole series Texas Chainsaw marathon, I just didn't have it in me!
Emma I will check out Station Eleven tv show series in HBO max
Have you watched or reviewed Sound of silence? I am interested in that movie but not sure if it is worth watching.
Sinister is a very creepy film...until they start showing Bughuul directly. Still a good, scary movie, especially the "home movies."
What about the tv show âFromâ I thought for sure that would be on your list. I love it, Has a Stephen King vibe
I believe it already was out last month!
The Netflix French series Marianne is also scary...\m/
Would love for you to do a review of the British television movie from the 1980s called Threads. Itâs a nuclear holocaust movie that is horrific.
Can you tell me where I can find The Mole. I can't find it anywhere.
I tried the VPN trick, but I get blocked for not having a credit card issued from that country. This was specific to choosing the UK. Any recommendation on getting the best results when using a VPN for watching different shows available in other countries?
Omg I loved Zola she the shit frđ
PPS: Hi Emma, I just watched The Tinder Swindler & I too feel so Sad for the gals he Stole Thousand$ from, & I'm glad He got Arrested for a while; tho I wish he was Arrested for Fraud against the 3 main gals in the show, & that He was Still in Jail!!
So surf shark I live in the us and I have been eating to wet h the final season of Mary kills people but itâs only Avila me to buy on amazon uk. This doesnât seem legal. Will I get in trouble. Or how do I do this?
I wanna watch the last season so bad! I watched the first 2 seasons on Hulu and was so bummed when I couldn't get the 3rd.
My VPN doesnât work with BBC iplayer, which is the only way Iâve found to watch the Mole. Is there any other way to watch it?
I've been watching horror movies since I was 8....My dad prolly had all of Stephen kings books... Read and watched most of his work before my 18th birthday.....none of this scared me more than the sinister movie....đ
Iâve always felt I was one of the few people who wasnât a fan of Sinister. I actually was dozing off in the theater when I saw it. Lol. I liked the scenes with the reel footage cause that was actually really chilling. But everything else was a little dull for me. Not one I ever really found scary.
Hi, My name is Arts from Thailand. Pls allow me to ask : What is the application on left hand sid of the video screen ?

What app or list are u sharing with us that keeps your track?
@@andr3001 thx! Joined - this is so cool!!!!!
Goodmorning Emma, I wonder if you've seen Monsters, directed by Gareth Edwards of Godzilla and Rogue Wars fame, 2010. It is scifi, has creatures, is found footagey and may well stay with you. Just sayin'
đ€
So here for the North Korea doco content. Many years ago I read a book called Nothing To Envy by Barbara Demick and it just changed my life. Horrifying what is happening to the people of North Korea!
Please do a sinister video. To me, it's seriously scary!
Sinister has a lot going for it, but most of the film is just Ethan Hawke shuffling around his house in the dark and jumping at noises. It's a great concept, the murder scenes are creepy, and there's a gritty, dark vibe that is successfully sustained throughout the movie, but it's mostly just filler set in a single location which leads to repetitive throwaway scenes to pad the runtime. It's like a movie that could have been truly great, but wasn't.
Liking Station Eleven so far aftr 5 episodes.
PS: I watched Sinister a few years ago, & I found it very Frightening & disturbing with a Sad ending, so tho it's a well done movie, I don't desire to see it again.
