- Jamie, Annabbella and I head into the Urban Jungle to rescue a rare and desirable 1968 Buick Riviera Grand Sport that has been in a concrete tomb for the past ten years. Will we be able to make it run?

Friend had a 70 Buick Riviera GS 455 4 barrel 375 hp! Dark blue, blk vinyl top, black buckets n console. The car was an animal! The gentlemans muscle car!
Reminds me of the '70 Rivera GS I had back in the early 80s... LOVED that car!! my GOD that thing was fast with that 455 4-barrel! one of the best cars I ever owned.. I do miss it.
@@hankaustin7091 i have a 69 riviera blue with the 430, looks just like this one in the video
In 1987 I picked up a NON-GS '68 Riv for a winter beater for $175. 430-4 with 360hp. It was a Very fun car. Yours is too nice to part out. Turn it into a nice driver. You'll do well.
The Buick 430 put out 360 HP and 475 ft lbs of Torque. Great engines and even got decent gas mileage.
Now that what i call an Ironclad! Nice pick!!
A riviera was the top of the line for personal luxury in its day. What a awesome ride.
I am the 2nd owner of a 1966 GS Buick Riviera bought on the night of Desert Storm Jan 16th 1991, the car sat from 1979-1991 about the same condition as this 1968,its been restored to its full glory dual quads( Factory Carters),all options, protecto plate,2 original Uniroyal redlines and all paperwork, had 88,000 when i bought. To this day i never had to recharge the A.C. blast cold air you'll need a sweater!!

I agree. Thank you. -Rick
Nice car Rick! Hey too you and Jamie and inspector general Annabella. Great video!
Wow, what a find !! Love it. Definitely worth saving / restoring. Don't break up one that's that complete.
That's awesome. Can't wait to see the progress of the ole girl.
The Old Man had this massive stretch model '73 Fleetwood Broughm, White with a red leather interior, with the 472 and enough room to stuff five adults in comfort and all our gear inside for a long distance trip to Idaho. That thing was a spectacular long distance cruise mobile like the Starship Enterprise. Just set the cruise control on 75 and walk past everyone uphill, down hill whatever, in comfort and style. Like driving in your living room.. Miss that car, we sold it in Albuquerque. My brother used it for rolling parties in high School and it became locally famous and gained a nickname... It was "The Popemobile" people knew you had "arrived" when you showed up!
Awesome...some cars become famous for the services they provide....
Great video and adventure! Thanks for taking us along. Watching from North Carolina.
Thanks for watching!
What an awesome car and what a good year. Take care God bless
Thank you for your thoughts during our fires.

Thank you too!
michigan home town of BUICK F Factory was on the north end of town.
I was raised up around all those ole trucks you have and the one that my uncle had I really remember is a 59 EL Camino white on red. Keep looking for you to get one but haven't seen you with one yet, gosh I loved that vehicle my uncle owned.😆
man thats a nice car. i would be keeping that one for sure. great find
Can't wait to see it finished
I owned an identical 1968 Buick Riviera G.S. In London, England, in the early 70s. Same colour, same black roof, same bucket seats, and those gorgeous wheels and very stylish centre caps. It did have a nice chrome finisher around the front white marker lights though, which finished the trim off well. In the 90s i spent time, on and off, in the U.S.A working and came across a 1968 Buick Wildcat with a similar perfectly shaped roofline, rather than the upright style, the motor etc was also the 430 c.i. Drove it for over 30,000 miles all over the U.S.A, usually with a trailer. Both went like rockets and never let me down, not even a puncture. Check out the road tests of the time, very interesting.
I still have a 70 Buick Wildcat "Custom Coupe" I bought a 70 Wildcat Convertible for a parts car to use when I build it. Also a 70 4-door LeSabre.
Somebody loved and cared about it for a long time.
Awesome video Rick! Great find and a great car!
Awesome choice ! The Riv is my favorite car since childhood.
What a gorgeous car. Look's in fantastic condition for its age.
It really is!
Wow..... Truck/ Buick inspector and an assistant winch operator..... What a team!!!!!!
I love the 68 Buick Rivera. I would drive that every day just to show what a good car they are
I like it too. Thank you and Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick

Nice.... it's not junk..... it's cool....I have a 1966 Buick Skylark hard top and a 1955 chevy and a 1985c10 Chevy and a 1970 Pontiac LeMans ..... right now I'm looking for a 1963 Impala that is my dream car since I was a kid.....,
Lots of love and a good home for this one, please.
Hey I bet that brought back memories from when you had one.
Awsome big american classic car:)
Great to see it back on the road, not rotten away:) its deserved to be used and enjoyed:)
Very nice people. Thanks.
Thank you Ben!
Thanks for being honest Rick I always enjoy your videos now get back to fixing that garage up
Loving the vids Rick .glad your channel isnt slowing down !
Passed my drivers license in a 68 Buick Riviera had a 51 Ford Victoria with a 455 Buick which is in the movie world's fastest Indian my dad had it from 1962 to76 ,and my 69 Skylark is in the movie Rocky and Bullwinkle
Part it out? Hell no! That's a classic!
Save it if you can. She's a beauty!
Saved.
Reminds me of the '70 Rivera I had back in the early 80s... LOVED that car!! my GOD that thing was fast with that 455 4-barrel! one of the best cars I ever owned.. can't remember now why I got rid of it.. oh yeah, now I remember.. got 8 MILES to the GALLON! I was a poor college student at the time.. couldn't afford to keep gas in it LOL!! I do miss it, though.
Hank, thanks for being honest about the mileage you got with these cars. You get people claiming they got 10 or 20+ mpg out of their 1969 or 1970 Electra....I have to laugh !- I have some of each of these cars and now have a 74 Buick Century GS 455 (Built to High compression specs) and I have always gotten around 7 or 8 MPG. My 69 Electra convert maybe got 10 MPG with the rebuilt engine and carb.
What a great car. I would run it just as it is. Back in the days when styling was still important.
That car is beautiful. Can't wait for the next video. I would love to see what you do to it. Love the name.
Thanks 👍
It may not be a truck, but it IS a tank!
I like that car! Pretty clean and solid! You just clean the floor, I would put gravel guard on it, and a new carpet and bingo! The dent, on the side, you fix it when you can, it doesnt affect the car running... very good save!
Great video Rick and Jeanie real cool car all the best from your fans in the UK as you say peace out
WOW ! WOOW ! WOOOW ! COMPLIMENTI ! 👀🤯💓💪🤙🇲🇾🗽🏆
Yes it*s worth saving, Annabelle gave her walkout of approval.
The first car I had was a ‘69 Riv. I pulled it out of my dads pasture when I was 14. Rebuilt it from the ground up in about 2 1/2 years. Got rear ended going to school. Sure miss that ol car. Taught me a lot though.
Your comment reminds me of the '70 Rivera I had back in the early 80s...
You did good saving this one needs a little work and a lot of Love
I think that is a keeper, cars like that you don*t see anymore.
I had a car just like this. Bought a 69 Riviera in Kentucky, in 2007. Fixed brakes and was driving daily. brought the car back to nj but had to sell.
Very nice. I see your in love with it
Yes I am!
That car was worth going and getting. Looks like someone really cared for it. Its worth going through putting some money into it and keeping. Its probably a good riding car. Those old Buicks and Oldsmobiles just hugged the road.
Yes, they really did, the wide track helped, my 68 Wildcat was great on the twisty roads.
68 Buick g.s looks wild
Had I seen this at the time , would have bought it from you sir !! Been looking for a late 1960's Riviera for some time now .
Rear of the car resembles the 1972 Grand Prix, had me one of them, loved that car!
More like a Monte Carlo in my opinion.
Wow , what a find !!
Thank you and Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
@@ClassicTruckRescue thank ya much, i'm absolutely certain that fender can be fixed keeping the original paint
I'm definitely going to give that a shot. Would be great to leave the paint all original.
@@ClassicTruckRescue yes it's paintless dent repair, that dent is nothing to repair, look it up, it's really worth it especially for you and that awesome Rivera GS !!
Good save on the big,bad, Buick.Sure is a keeper,fixer upper,makes a good weekend cruzer.Enjoy the ride.
Nice looking car I like it hope Jamie is doing better
Wish I could be there I'd buy that one . I'd name it mine . I had a 72 with 54000 . That one has the better body style . Love that wildcat . Have a great day later Rick
I luv these 66-70 Rivera's I'm been working Amt 1/24 scale 66 model as ledsled custom.
Nice Rivera, not that hard to restore and will be a great car to restore! Enjoy it! John
Nice rescue hope you find it a good home
Well worth saving!!
I think it's beautiful!
It looks fantastic for the age..
As I recall, the headlights open and close with vacuum. Might be wrong tho. But when he scrapes the door across the fender! Ouch! Great car, tho. Had a friend who drove one in high school. LOVE the style!
You are correct
So lucky to find a master piece
That was deff worth it rick....nice car brother!
That Riv reminds me of my first car so much. I had a 69 delta 88 2dr hardtop. I never realized how much the riv looked like it.
Could probably have that dent PDRed so it wouldn't mess up the paint
Beautiful car, i would have it in a heart beat ;)
I had an Electra 225 convertible and it had a 430 cid. Motor and it was a torque monster.
me too- I have 1968 Buick Electra 225 Convertible , same engine. 30 km almost 10 litter of gas.
That's one beautiful car I love the 68 year cars and trucks
It sure is!
Hey what a sweet find. How could anyone call that car junk? They're totally clueless. For a car that is 52 years old, I'd say it's in really good shape. I live just outside of Portland, so I just had to watch!
Love the car brother. Save it.
a nice one, missed the Annabella checking it out.
Glad it started. If you baby that motor it could last quite a while. If I had bought the car, I would no doubt have the engine done, as I am only going to scorch a bearing on an old engine like that - the big Blocks are too much fun to lean into - ya Know? Been there a few times with Buicks...lol!
It sure looks like the bat cave, but that is some car, with all the bell*s & whistles, love the way you have 2 assistants annabelle& your wife, who is the one that has the final say.
I guess the person paying for the Rescue has the final say...that's usually me...LOl. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
If there's no oil pressure, it's probably because when the engine was rebuilt, the oil pump wasn't primed correctly. When rebuilt, the front mounted oil pump must be packed with Vaseline petroleum jelly or similar lubricant before reassembling the gears in order to prime the pump correctly. That's a weak spot on an otherwise durable engine. Nice find and good luck with your 78 Riviera.
I'm not surprised one bit the Riviera started uo with no hassle. As far as engines goes, the Buick small block 350 V8, 231 V6, and big block 400, 430, and 455 V8 are GM's best along with the older Cadillacs
Very nice 👍 I love to have a Buick Rivera sweet car
Outstanding
That Riv looks very nice. I think that's a good "get"
Very beautiful car 👍
Love you to buddy thank you for saving that 68 Buick Riviera Classic GS my brother I love that car love it love God to amen Go with God guys please keep giving us more videos on this car okay guys thank you God bless everyone
Hi from Edward from North Carolina. nice car!
Man that is in great shape for a 1968 for sure. My mom use to talk about those she might have liked them I think. The fender dent might pull out with a plunger. Someone will want that car its nice. I bet it drives like a Cadillac. Its really in super nice condition. on the body. You can tell its been inside all of its life. Hope you can get out of the rain. Get that building done I know your working hard on it have not seen a update on that lately. That car is great! Look at the wear on the break peddle for how many miles it has. If its not worn much it may be 28 thousand miles. That was an easy start wow. But it needs an oil pressure gauge installed so you can see if its pumping oil. Is the oil pressure light coming on? Old American iron yeah buddy. We called them carbs quadra Junk. But its working aint it? so let it be.
