    The part you thought has a stack of washers is called the "unloader" and that sets your running pressure. Since it bogs you might want to loosen it off about 1/4 turn. They came with a hand grip on the unloader when they were new, well most did, that was why, different tip different pressure. FYI

    • @kennycybertron1
      @kennycybertron1 Před 5 lety +12

      Most pressure washers can trace a lot of problems down to that damn u loader sticking,seizing up. You're right, I just tighten/loosen mine a few turns and it works fone. I always swear by usi g the pressure washer pump lube at the end of the season...it works too

    Having been very closely associated with manufacture and testing of pressure washers, I can offer a bit of "inside" advice. First, on the quick connects...they will absolutely not interchange with pneumatic fittings. All of the larger consumer/light commercial (except electric portable models) pressure washers use the same size quick connects, and the standard threaded end is 3/8" NPT. the end you tried to remove from the hose no doubt was threaded on the hose end, just stubborn. Heat up the plastic collar with a heat gun, and it should slide off, so you can get a wrench on the hose end. The pumps will generally take a good bit of frost, as they're necessarily pretty robust. I noticed a supply of gaskets wired to one of the hoses, maybe that is a hint? The range of supplied tips also have quick connects, which are a different size. You have to skin the collar back to connect as well as disconnect the pressure connectors.

      Mustie; please start buying the correct parts to fix these machines. I get trying to fix these machines with used parts you have on hand but to what end? A littler research wil tell you that Air and pressure washing connectors are not interchangeable. Once you jump the gun and pour 2 part fuel in everything; What do you do with the final half repaired product? Sorry but I'm done with these/your videos!

    Mi T M still makes great machines. They used to put together models for retail in major paint stores with different engines and price points. Most of them would deliver around 4 gallons per minute. I bought one new in 1985 with an 11 or 13 hp Wisconsin Robin on it. After 20 years I put an electric start engine on it. I still have the machine and it runs well because it was never left in the rain and was never set up where it would get wet !! Rust in the gas tank once from condensation was the only issue ever !

  • @Farm_fab
    @Farm_fab Před 2 lety +2

    Darren, for future reference, that sediment filter is plastic. We replaced ours at work with metal ones, and don't have leaks on them anymore. Your call on using pipe dope instead of teflon is spot on. The tape gets brittle over time and can separate inside of those fittings and get caught in the tip. Also a spinner or turbo tip is a good investment on cleaning. It gets under the dirt (and paint if one is not careful) faster.

    • @AustinVb14
      @AustinVb14 Před 4 lety

      Not the main reason why belt drives are better. They are better because you can run the pumps at a lower RPM so they dont wear as quickly but make the same amount of pressure as a comparable direct drive pump.

    Great money maker there! I bought one that size at an estate auction for a couple hundred and started using it for our business (property preservation) for mortgage companies, it quickly paid for itself and is a great $$$ producer.

    "it looks like it'll want to drop down in there...." - takes out hammer, whacks a couple time - "fits - might be a leak later on..." - end result is that it cleaned itself - awesome work @Mustie1 :)

    "Cast Iron Bore" = the quality block from Briggs. They take a beating, and is forgiving on the oil. Excellent engine for other projects as well.

    I picked up the same Mi-T-M unit in a estate sale a few weeks ago. I posted a video on it. Mine started and works great. I didn't need to do a thing to it... didn't even need to put gas in it. It had fresh oil in the engine and pump, plus a new air filter. There the top of the line washers. I got it for sale on Craigslist for $450.

    Loved this one. Amazing how even how's can't always get all the dirt off. Still have to use soap etc. Disappointed that my 2900psi unit with 4 tanks doesn't inject soap at operating pressure. Hose only psi. I've used ones that did and they worked great on grease.
