My theory about why the dex entries for Shellos and Gastrodon seem to contradict each other is, that warmer water forces east Shellos to evolve to protect itself, whereas west Shellos rarely evolves naturally due to it feeling more comfortable in the warmer oceans.
I was thinking that too, west shellos is evolving less and less while east shellos are evolving more and more which causes less west gastrodon and more east gastrodon
Wouldn't it be crazy if, in a future game, we got a new evolution/form for West Shellos, because it no longer needs to evolve into West Gastrodon? And vice versa, a new evolution/form for East Gastrodon, because all of the East Shellos evolved due to the climate?
Same idea here..!
There was also that bit in the west gastrodon entry about "shallow" water. Maybe east gastrodon prefer deeper water? So while climate change drive rising sea temperature favor west shellos, climate change driven sea level rise favors east gastrodon?
That's what I thought too. The number of shellos born from the two forms would be around the same, it's just that in the past west shellos were forced to evolve more often while in the present it's the east she'll os that are forced to evolve.
My theory for the Shellos/Gastrodon entries is that due to the ocean temperatures rising, East Sea Shellos are evolving faster and more frequently to be slightly heartier and survive the different temperatures while the West Sea is having less incentive to evolve- probably due to its habitat zones increasing in size. Also those paradox entries sure are *the* dex entries of all time
pun intended?
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks this
Good Headcanon
@@MasterIsabelle good too know im not alone
However, in the game, is there really more Shellos and Gastrodon of one species tho?
When the dex talked about deerling being a pest, I wasn’t surprised, considering I’ve watched many family members try to keep deer away after their plants and crops are chewed to bits. I actually like that they added that detail when compared to actual deer
I'm playing the indigo disk dlc, and they're everywhere in the grassy areas.
I mean it’s still based on a true fact. In places where wolves were hunted to near-extinction since they were seen as a threat to farms, deer began overpopulating and becoming an _actual_ threat to farmland.
For skeledirge, I think it’s meant to represent how in real life, the Egyptian plover bird and crocodiles have this sort of mutual bond where the crocodile lets the bird eat out of its mouth. Therefore the crocodile gets cleaned and the bird get free food
Yeah exactly 💯
Ahh, I get it
I love how Garganacl after evolution goes from salt curing to curing with salt
This comment deserves more attention, you got a chuckle from me
Lol
But i still think this Pokémon has the ability to salt cure the life out of you in it's final form...

Delicious
Lady gaga ostrich 🤣
Crocodiles and birds in real life actually get along really well. One of Skeledirge's animations has the bird cleaning Skeledirge's teeth which is something real birds do for crocodiles. The bird gets free food and the crocodile gets a free dentist appointment.
Edit: To be specific, the bird in question is the Egyptian plover.
Edit 2 Electric Boogaloo: Even if the bird and crocodile thing is supposedly a "myth", it can still be used as inspiration. For example, Lurantis' concept is based on a orchid mantis. Orchid mantis' use their appearance to camoflauge as a plant, but with Lurantis, it's a plant that camoflauges as a mantis.
Which benefits the crocodile because their employers almost never include dental insurance
@@aananthbalachandran what about the Egyptian Plover?

I imagine that the Gastrodon conundrum can be answered rather simply: East Shellos are now in a better situation to evolve, while west Shellos are now in a situation where it’s better not to evolve.
21:29 Yes this is accurate, people in Asia (especially in China and Taiwan) see swallow nests (or the hardened saliva used to build the nests) as a medical ingredient and use it for food, usually sweet soups. They are very rare so the prices are usually very high, when cooked they are very gelatinous and have a gooey texture.
What's interesting is that, since swallow nests are so expensive, people often times substitute them with white tree ears, which is what Toedscool is based off of.
I can imagine in the pokemon world since they are electric type, "ahh not enough sleep, welp gonna boil me some wattrel nest for that five hr energy" lol
In reference to Wattrels entry about eating its nest, birds nest soup is a real delicacy made from swiftlet bird nests. This bird doesn’t make nests from twigs but instead will use it’s own spit that will harden and create a nests. People in Southeast Asia and China will take these nests and create a broth from it, as they sort of dissolve in water.
can confirm that people breed swallows here just to take their nests and eat them
I was hoping someone else would mention this, thank you!
Yep, it can be pretty expensive sometimes cuz its believed to have some great health effects (I think, I personally don't like bird nest soup so idk if thats actually true)
The soup actually tastes pretty good. I had it once at a Cambodian wedding I attended.
@@tracyglasper5177 I’ve had it at a wedding before too but I was a kid so I can’t remember if I like it or not…
For gastradon I think I have a good explanation:
The pink ones are being more numerus and dont need to work as much, leading to less evolution.
The blue ones are struggling so they are evolving as soon as possible to survive longer.
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Maybe the pink Gastrodon species are getting more eggs, but dying quickly after that, and the blue ones just evolving faster
It could also be the case that the pink ones often die before being able to become Gastrodons, whereas the blue ones hatch and grow up in areas that are hidden from humans then come out of hiding once they become Gastrodons.
@@matthewwatson5029 this could be the case because the gastrodons are said to appear near shallow waters and it could be because of the global warming as it is possible tue eastern ones live in deep water as the water along the surface is always a lot warmer then the deeper water so it could be that the water levels have risen since we see very little shallow water in the ocean, more then likely the western are going up in water in the warm upper water while when it evolves it is to big to feed from the shallow waters anymore as the shallow water has decreased
Mike, theres a dish made with the swiftlets nest, thats a bird that makes their nest with their saliva which solidify ... So that might be wattrels deal
Fun fact: One of Gumshoos’ Pokédex entries states that it was imported to alola from another region
When Scarlet and Violet was announced, I was hoping that Paldea would be this mysterious region that I didn’t know about
It still might be. Paldea's Gumshoos and Yungoos entries do not mention it as being from another region.
For Annihilape, I like to think that the body is dead, but the mind and soul are still alive. Also, the "supernatural strength" comes from it now having extra energy because it no longer needs to perform vital bodily functions.
Looking at Maschiff's Pokedex entry, I wonder if Sada/Turo got Arven a Maschiff specifically because they knew they'd be away from him for long periods of time, so the Maschiff would be able to make Arven laugh, even if he was sad.
I love this and hate this at the same time. It's beautiful, and I am now very sad
Very nice headcanon very sad though.
You can see a photo of a young Arven with a maschiff in Area Zero
For a kids game, the devs never fail to include stuff that can make you shiver if you found the mons irl
Entei erupts volcanos every time they bark and there is confirmed multiple of them
"for a kids game" schtick is getting pretty old don't you think? even Gamefreak seems over that by introducing more mature material in S/V with the professors being killed.

@@jonnymaldonado5974 it's still a kids game. besides, multiple deaths have been known in pokemon before, this one single one isn't gonna change that.
The opposite dex entries for the paradox mon is part of why I like to theorize that the paradox mon don't actually come from the past/future, it's from the respective professor's imagination
9:43 So on my playthrough of Gen 9 I used both Quaquaval and Tsareena on my team. My headcanon now is that when given the opportunity the two will make as much of a scene as possible with their dancing.
Weirdly, Kingambit being a reckless attacker in combat rather than a tactical genius actually fits with its namesake. The King’s Gambit in chess is known for being a wild double edged sword of an opening; very aggressive and confrontational, but also leaving weaknesses on your side.
Its name is a play on king but also on kin gambit, in that it recklessly gambits its kin away to get stronger with its ability supreme overlord
I thought female Bisharp evolved into Queen Gambit.
@@ZaidanDarmasakti I hope it does in future games
Kingambit's personality is just a horribly disappointing downgrade from the cruel but cunning Bisharp though. Now it's just a tactically incompetent brute.
@@ZaidanDarmasakti 😂
So skeledirge and the bird actually have a real connection to the world. The Egyptian plover is a bird that works in symbiosis with crocodiles to clean their teeth. The birds gets “invited” by the croc to clean its teeth.
was just gonna write this lmao
Same
Thank you for writing this
Also it's signature move uses the bird
Oh I thought it was because there are birds that hang out with crocs or alligator and the birds usually clean their teeth when the have their mouth open. They don't get eaten they work together as partners.
So I was looking over the Violet Pokédex entries and the one that I was the most interested in was the Orange Flower Florges: In times long past, castle governors would lovingly raise Florges to care for their castles’ exquisite gardens. So a lot of kings and queens had Florges take care of their gardens which is sweet in my opinion.
It's certainly interesting, but we've already known this, as other dex entries have told us this
It took me a while to realize this video is a year old, as I distinctly remembered him reading an ASPITPIAY entry for why Talonflame's dex entry was so specific. Because it lifts Tinkaton's hammer, which weighs 220 lbs. Also, Sawsbuck's Pokédex entry just stated that Sawsbuck Leaf Tea is considered a black tea.
I know this comment is a couple of months old, but anyway. It's also that specific weight because it's like 200g off of exactly 100 kilos, which is the unit the original version as well as any other localisations would use.
Fun fact, the aggressive autumn form of sawsbuck references real world behavior of deer. Fall is mating season for them (also known as the rut), and it’s when males will fight one another for the right to breed, thus explaining the game devs reasons for making the autumn form more aggressive and prone to fighting
Then as we all know during the winter they go through a seasonal depression
So sawsbuck is just … *horny*
Oh thats cool

Fun fact: When it was mentioned that dondozo and tatsugiri hunts bird poke, it explains why there are a lot of feathers in casseroya lake (the location where you can only find dondozo and tatsugiri). The spoils of the hunt scattered all around the lake.
also fun fact: I call Tatsugiri "the sus fish"
Area calls tatsugiri little sushi guy

Oh, cool!
The fall and winter deerling violet dex entries kinda make me think of the Nara deer. Like, they brazenly approach people for food, follow you if you feed them, then, in the case of the winter form, headbutt you for attention, disregarding the fact that they have antlers that they are jabbing you with. Plus, the Sawsbuck dex entries are kinda accurate to real dear behavior throughout the year.
6:50 I love the line after he talks about this cute gremlin.
My inner corviknight lover, “THIS CREATURE IS AN ENEMY OF TEAM SKY!!!!! Go forth Mega Charizard Y and Mega Rayquaza, strike it down!!!!!”
Wattrel's violet dex entry is a reference to bird's nest soup. It's a type of bird nest that's made of the bird's saliva that hardens up into tough threads that sticks together like super glue. People collects their nest and makes them into soup. People say that the bird's nest has some health benefits for your body. They're also very expensive.
I am drinking it while watching this
I’ve had the opportunity to have birds nest soup. It was in a restaurant’s basement dining room in the middle of Philadelphia’s China town. One of about 20 courses, part of a dinner for my friend’s father’s funeral. Flavor was unexplainable, milky, umami, and yet somehow a little fishy; also a gelatinous porridge texture.
Yeah, Mikey should go to Asia one day, just any country
Or the bird it self
Yes the soup is made by using the swiftlet birds nest. Wattrel also resembles the bird in its apperance.
Actually yes.
The nests of swiftlets(which are real birds despite the name lol) are treated as a delicacy and some even say they have healing properties
Google Asia birds nest drink
Wow.
Bizarre
And the nest is made of the bird special saliva
Yeah i search for this comment hehe
I'm sure someone's already mentioned this, but based on the Yellow Squakabilly's dex entry, they were probably the birds that had the squabble with the Fletchlings that's mentioned in Fletchling's dex entry.
Goodra's Sword entry: i love hugs :)
Goodra's Violet entry: *you have heed your last haw*
Watching Toedscool run is probably one of if not the funniest animation in the whole game. I almost died laughing when I saw it the first time

I always imagine that sound effect they used in spongebob for squidward's walk
It looks so cursed honestly.
Lol someone needs to make it to the SpongeBob cheap walk cycle
It still makes me happy to see.
I love the idea that some Primeape evolve to Annihilape just to LITERALLY spite Death itself.
That's honestly iconic. Also Sawsbuck's fall dex entry completely aligns with a deer's rut season. It happens between the middle of October to early December which again aligns perfectly with their winter form dex entry being much calmer and easier to tame vs the fall form. I'm soooooo loving that Pokemon is continuing to bring in real world aspects to these Pokemon because essentially, they ARE animals. Just with cool powers.
too angry to live, too angry to die
You can tell who in the comments is American or not from whether they call it Autumn or Fall
Paldean primape: "in my tribe, death is not the end..."
@Haddy that's cause fall comes from German and autumn is from French. The UK has more French influences than German so makes sense you'd take on more FANCY words like Autumn while we take on fall
@@TheRibottoStudios Except in German, autumn/fall is called Herbst.
the 220lbs in talonflames dex entry is a link to tinkatons who's scarlet entry mentions its hammer is 220lbs so talonflame is avenging corviknight and attacking tinkatons

Ultra Beasts/Necrozma's homeworld: Are we a joke to you?
When it comes to the Gastrodon's, look at it like this: Since the Pink Ones are becoming more numerous due to rising water temperatures, it becomes far more comfortable. This causes it not to struggle to survive, thus not requiring it to Evolve to survive. Flip this on its head for the blue. Due to the rising water temps, and its decreasing numbers, what remains must evolve to survive.
Glad someone mentioned this, because it's what I was thinking
I just thought shellos migrated when they evolved.
I just commented something similar to this but finding your comment just after makes mine seem stupid 😅
I was literally on my way to comment this. And yeah, it makes perfect sense. With a harsher environment comes harsher survival conditions, and vice versa.
My theory was that since the dex said That West Gastrodon hunt in shallow waters, They become more rare due to rising tide, with perhaps the opposite happening for the East Gastrodon
As someone who has lived their entire childhood among white tailed deer I can say that those Deerling and Sawksbuck entries are remarkably accurate

I think the main reason Capsakids teeth are what is added to things to make it spicy is they kinda resemble the seeds inside the hot pepper. The seeds tend to be spicier. I imagine it's also easier to ground and pulverize as a seasoning.
Skeledirge's bird is based on the symbiotic relationship between Nile Crocodiles and Plover birds! The plover birds will pick and eat bits of meat and plaque off of the crocodiles teeth, getting a meal and also cleaning the croc's teeth in the process. I think Skeledirge actually has an animation of the little bird doing this exact thing!
It's so cool! so much thought was put into his design, he's definitely my favorite Paldea starter by far
It could be a reference to psychopomps as well. Bird like creatures that carry souls to the other side.
Yes it does have that animation, whenever it happens in the wild, it is a test of trust between the two, as the bird puts it’s life into the crocodile’s hands (or jaw). The crocodile does not bite, and instead patiently waits for the bird to finish what it is doing, a truly beautiful interaction in the wild
You beat me to it.
It turns out this doesn't actually happen and is a myth

I think the reason for Shellos' and gastrodon's confusing Pokédex entries is because the west one is less in danger so it is stopping evolving all together while the type that is in more danger is evolving more to save the species
I was thinking that the west one has a lot more competition so fewer are able to evolve as resources become spread thin while the east ones have more than enough to thrive.
At least for now.
Honestly it could be both. Because it's no longer in danger of going extinct it no longer fights to stay alive and thus doesn't need to evolve fast HOWEVER because so many are in an area they fight amongst themselves where the weakest perish to allow the strongest to survive. Basically they're stuck between needing to stay strong enough to fight each other but not need to get much stronger to require an evolution.
I indeed don't think it's a mistake. I think that, at the very least, the differences cause 1 species to evolve more (resulting in more Gastrodon), and the other to evolve less (resulting in more Shellos). Maybe gastrodon has a bigger tolerance for temperature shifts than Shellos, which would normally cause Shellos to evolve if their waters get too warm/cold (maybe it's a seasonal thing, where they would normally evolve in summer/winter, when the water temperature changes too much and make it unbearable for Shellos).
I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING
1:00:54 Hahah glad you took note of these, too. I nicknamed my Treasures as Mollusgrudge, Erminhate, Elkenfear, and Goldenvy thanks to these Dex entries.
I really like the detail that autumn Sawsbuck is more short-tempered. Autumn is mating season for a lot of deer species, and bucks get super aggressive during that time.

Something I haven’t seen anyone talk about with the tinkaton and corviknight is that you can really only find 1 Corviknight outside of Area Zero, and Tinkaton’s line in several areas in paldea. In Area Zero though, you can find Corviknight everywhere, but no Tinkaton at least to my knowledge you can’t find one. Almost like they’re in hiding within the Great Crater. Gen 9 has been a generation that actually grabbed me. It’s been a long time since a main series game actually hooked me. I’ve played a game from almost every Gen except for 1 & 7.
And Gen 9, specifically violet, has taken my #1 fav spot next to platinum (the first main series game I completed the main story for waaaaay back when it was brand new.)
You should give Sun/Moon a go. It's a nice Pokemon adventure
Quick note on the Kingambit entry, Kingambit is actually a reference to a chess move known as The King's Gambit, a highly aggressive opening that focuses on doing as much damage as possible early game.
Makes sense as pawniard and bisharp's names come from chess pieces.
@@Twinklethefox9022yeah Pawniard is the pawn and Bisharp is the bishop
And the rookidee line covers some other pieces, rookidee is the rook, and corviknight is the knight
So is Nidoqueen the last peice or is that another pokemon?
Which is funny since Kingambit is meant to be the last Pokémon you use
I did a little research (as in the first few results of a Google search) and in Africa near the Nile, there’s a species of crocs and plover birds that have a mutualism relationship. Meaning both species benefit. The croc gets its teeth clean while the bird gets free food. The bird isn’t harmed here.
I only remember they had some sort of symbiotic relationship from the animated Lion King where they sing “Can’t Wait to be King” and there’s the crocodiles singing with birds in their mouths 😅
Couple things I’ve got from this list: first, I now have the image of Tinkaton doing the Pokémon version of golf to hit Corviknight, and also I’m wondering with Vivillion if it’s a case of it came to Paldea so long ago that it’s just thought to be native to the region, like Copperajah with Galar.
Cetoddle's entry implies a very funny evolution of the species where it started in the water like all life, left to become mammals, decided to go back to become whales, and then decided to leave again
Cetoddle is like a dog/cat: "Open door I want to go outside"
*opens door*
*hey go outside then come back in instantly*
*closes door*
"Open door I want to go outside"
FUUUU
Some deep chess references with Kingambit. The Kings Gambit, an opening chess move, is a high-risk strategy that if it pays off results in an aggressive win by the using player sacrificing pawns. It is a move not used as often as more long-term strategy styles are used today. Hence why Kingambit isn't known for his strategy and more for his aggressive fighting.
Retaliate fits into this too. It's usually a more more associated with other pokemon, I think, but it fits well with the reference to the strategy, at least in my opinion.
In regards to the Gastrodon/Shellos thing, it may be about environmental pressure. Fewer East sea Shellos mean greater pressure to evolve and protect their habitats, while more West sea Shellos means the pressure to hunt will be lessened and they'll have less need to evolve into Gastrodon.
Preach it mand! The winter sawsbucks need more love!
My personal head cannon is that since Rotom is sometimes a little prankster/pest, the new washing machines are designed specifically to keep rotom out
I read pest and I just thought of
"Rotom, the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse "😂
@@germany8339 pestilence
I think it's more other washing machines aren't as comfy, and so rotom doesn't want to go in there
But then why do we have Rotom Phones where Rotoms love to interact with the owners of those phones? Not to mention the Alola Pokédex. If Rotom was that much of a nuisance, why would them be overall so cheerful in those aforementioned appliances?
@@dreamfirefight9456 Because the fancy apps in the phones keep them busy. If you have a child, you know CZcams and a game on the phone can help to keep them quiet for a bit.
As a Sawsbuck enthusiast, I should mention that the Autumn form's aggression is based on the rutting season of white-tailed deer, native to New York/Unova.
Ooohhhhhhhh I get the Crocalor to Skeledirge thing now. The egg on Crocalor hatches when it evos to Skeledirge, and creates the bird on Skeledirge's snout. This is interesting because there is a type of bird that hangs around crocs.
For the shellos gastrodon dilemma, probably the indipendent lines "evolved" a different habitat from the preevolution for not out-competing their younglings, it's a common practice among some animals like frogs but usualy it's about "what" they eat and not "where" but it make sense either way
I love the idea of Cetitan's ancestors being like "hey let's go on land" and then later "hey let's go back in the water I liked it" and then like "heyyyyyy so I changed my mind again can we go back on land"
Donphan is based on a tire, so the dex entry about it being vulnerable to rain and not doing well with that isn’t just it’s weakness because it’s a ground type, but also a reference to how tires can lose traction and not perform well in rain.

My theory would be that the blue gastrodons are more numerous now because heightened environmental pressures are forcing them to naturally evolve more often.
Fun fact, blue pigments we’re rarer in historic times due to lapis lazuli being incredibly hard to find. So the fact that florges violet entry calls attention to that in the Pokémon world is pretty cool.
At what point in the past is this? Because I remember hearing that blue used to be a girl's color because blue fabric was extremely cheap and misogyny stuff. I could've fully made that up I don't remember where or when I heard that tbh

Florges is a high-middle tier pokémon; you would need a gym-leader/high-tier trainer, 2 to 3 police officers, or a ranger (maybe a scientist); none of which are in high-supply.
I did not consider the abilities that trainers receive from their pokémon (I find this very interesting) but the benefits gained seem unlikely to help; perhaps resistance to fairy-energy could delay death but other abilities seem unhelpful.
Items are likely very effective but would they be produced in a large enough supply? Whether or not firearms can harm any given pokémon is pretty much a coin-flip.
@@gerald2508 I'd say firearms are less a coinflip and would function fairly the same. A bullet would tear through a Vitreebel or a Malamar but a defense curl/rollout Sandslash would probably deflect it, a charging Tyrunt would be like shooting a boar (skull is too thick, mostly bounces off or just gets caught until you get something bigger) or said Malamar if it's quick enough, can throw up psychic walls like Neo from the Matrix or jedi to just block them. Most people like to ignore this since Nintendo kinda did too but the lore WAS expanded upon and the dex entries remain consistent with it but the games and anime don't. The manga and creator's notes state Pokemon is...... well not dark, but it's not fluffy or bright either. Pokemon are like yokai, the spirits manifested into wild animals and living objects. They just, appear based on people's understanding of concepts.
Why do you capture their essence in fruit? Well because they're elementals, not regular animals. There's regular animals, there's a squirrel off screen right over there. Lesser villains have white cats, Giovanni has a Persian, yadayada you get my drift. This is why the robot versions of pokemon make sense because in the cyberpunk future, people envision them as a Gundam Wing.
So long and rambling explaination made short, a helicopter can beat a dragon and the dex entries are to be taken as about 75% correct. No pokemon has 3k IQ yes a trainer is an OHKO unless they absorb that sweet defense boost. Also pokeballs charm their captures. I use that in ye olde meaning to magically compel something to like you, some are obviously too powerful for this effect like gyarados(or most dragons, ghost and dark types) and it has to actually like you or trade mons, the charm transfers to you through the machine but it's diminished.
Also side note, play pokemon dnd it's incredibly fun. A tip: players use dnd ruleset and pokemon use stat cards reflecting a mix of the original game and dnd. The players DO NOT roll initiative, they take their turns DURING the turns of any of their pokemon(which do roll initiative). This cleans up initiative order(speeds up playtime) in large battles and actually gives players more strategic options. Do limit them to 2 pokemin in battle because you'll be juggling like 8 mons not even counting swarms or boss battles. An example of a stat card would be:
Name LV() Ability:
Move 1 Move 2
Move 3 Move 4
Str 8 Move. 10
Dex.8 Fly. 5
Con.8 Swim. 2
Int. 8 Climb. 2
Wis 8
Cha 8
The game writes itself at that point 😁
@@gerald2508 One thing you're right about too, is these things are not in high supply. You even see in the anime humanity is scattered and doesn't have too many reliable travel networks. There's obviously planes, trains and automobiles but there's no consistent infrastructure that stretches across whole countries. Which probably has to do with why the gym challenge started in the first place. Also we know Kanto was in a war some 20 years ago but not who, why or where.(I choose Hoenen because it's easy that way.)
One thing to note about military is ANY campaign would be like Vietnam for the US except for everyone involved. No matter where you went, you would have to be traveling on foot through incredibly untamed land with dangerous creatures at some point and they would undoubtably be attacking wantonly anybody they see.
mikey: sawsbuck
the subtitles: saucebuck 💀
4:52 Talonflame being 54lbs yet still managing to carry around 4x its weight is pretty cool
Actually, Michael, the Deerling-Lycanroc thing is reflective of Japanese culture. Farmers in Japan worshiped wolves because they hunted the herbivores (such as deer and wild boar) who would eat their crops, and they would even leave food at their dens as an offering for their protection.
Also, I think Deerling and Lycanroc are listed as "rivals" because Deerling has a type advantage over Lycanroc.
boars aren`t herbivores they eat anything that fits in their mouth
you can see from my profile i hunt boar so i would know
@@ELi_Sorrell12347 That kind of irrelevant since they still eat crops...
And another thing of note here is that autumn sawsbuck is aggressive because for deer the autumn is their mating season (called the rut) and male deer fight each other for mates
@@th3gr1zzlyk1ng8 Not exactly what I was going for, but okay...
Deer are a menace to farmers worldwide, not just Japan. Take it from a Montanan.
I have a theory about Gastrodons:
As the West Shellos' life conditions are getting better, their need of evolution to survive is decreasing at the same time.
In the other hand, the situation is opposite for the East ones which makes them more likely to evolve for surviving and being able to live in those conditions.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, one is just evolving more than the other, therefore there’s less of the base form in the wild
!!!!! yes!!!!! this is what i was thinking!!!!!!!!
Also since there are more west, predators are hunting them. So more east can survive until its a gastrodon and defend it self
Yeah my way of thinking too, wanted to comment this, but i am glad i found this one before i did 😂😂
"Sawsbuck's leaf are used to make black tea"
MANDJTV: "I would like to try sawsbuck's tea, I wonder which tea it is"
Primape: “I’d rather die than evolve” Arkoos: “how about both?”
Crocalor's sombrero is made of marigold shaped flames that acts as a nest for the egg. It started as a petal on fuecoco and became a marigold head dress people wear in day of the dead. It is said that marigold guides the soul in the afterlife and its orange color is like a burning fire that lights up the paths of the souls. So When fuecoco evolves into crocalor, the flame hair attracts the soul of a phoenix that is most commonly associated with death and rebirth because that's the cycle of a life of a phoenix. The chick on skeledirge is based on egyptian plover and their relationship with nile crocodiles. It's a symbiotic relationship between the two, the crocodile gets its teeth clean and the bird gets to eat and the crocodile wouldn't eat the birds. Also the bird becomes a mic and shoots out as a phoenix when skeledirge uses torch song.
Made me like this mon so much more
Well explained!
Plus the fact that crocodiles and other related species have been seen coexisting with birds with them cleaning their teeth in exchange for the food they get for doing so. And a singer with clean teeth is good for the stage
@@caioperfeitolopes7417 That's awesome man, didn't know that about singers!
This makes sense, I do know the singing and the color design follow the clown from the opera Pagliacci with him looking like a sad clown.
Fun fact about Sawsbuck autumn form, it lines up with how deer IRL behave, as it's their mating season. Buck become far more territorial as well
A friend of mine knows this from experience he was gored after thinking it was a good idea to tease a deer we found in the mountains
Plus their antlers drop off in winter.
Fun Fact: Garganacl's name comes from Gargantuan, and NaCl, which is Sodium Chloride (Table Salt)
4:58 maybe it has to do with evolutions?
both base forms could be born at the same rate, but the temperature could influence their evolution rate in the wild
but the east-form has an easier time evolving in warm waters -> less unevolved-east-form & more evolved-east-form
and the west-form has an easier time evolving in cold waters (ergo: harder time in warm waters) -> more unevolved-west-form & less evolved-west-form
I have a theory about the Shellos and Gastrodon. Because there aren't a lot of Shellos in the East they have more need to get stronger to defend themselves from predators. Therefor much more of them are evolving into Gastrodon. Which decreases the number of Shellos even more as more of them are Gastrodon. Whereas the West have more Shellos in the group to protect each other. The West also have more competition amongst each other and most likely only a few decide to evolve. Maybe as a ranking system if it has any deep meaning to it.
I was thining of the same thing that more east shellos are evolving yet less west shellos dont have as much of a reson to evolve.
I just made a post for a very similar theory and scrolled down and saw yours
i also suggrest is that since there defending themselves too much they have less time to breed
I was literally thinking the same thing
I think it because more east gastrodon has to move to surtin areas that are colder but west is the opposite because it has more room in the world.
i think the Donphan entry makes sense, Phanpy is young and its skin isnt as hard and tough as Donphan, so they dont mind the water but for Donphan it probably makes its skin soft and squishy, leaving it vulnerable to cuts and bruising while it fights off predators and such
Do you remember the phanphy in the third pokemon movie how it demolished onix? Good times
@@kidomaruking35 That was an illusionary Phanpy that was much stronger than a real one.
Donphan is based on tire and driving is hard during rain
@@kociarzultimate384 genius
Yeah, rain makes it harder for tyres to keep traction. A Donphan in the rain would lose control too often and keep crashing into stuff.
4:47 More than likely this is in reference to how all the bird pokemon can use fly and carry the player around previous game's map.
21:40 @Mikey Actually, YES, this is a real thing. Only not the type of nests made from sticks and twigs. There is a soup that is made from a bird's nest, this nest is actually made from bird vomit. It's a Chinese delicacy, I'm not sure of the actual name, look up Bird Saliva Soup.
I love Mikey’s speech about Winter Form Sawsbuck, so powerfull and thrilling, like an protester (in a good way) 24:12
Something I appreciate about the fact that Tinkaton hunts Corviknight is that a normal Tinkaton's hammer matches Corviknight, and Tinkaton's shiny is just the hammer changing to be the color of shiny Corviknight. Pretty much confirms that Tinkaton doesn't just hunt Corviknight for sport, but also for its armor.
I think shiny Tinkaton's hammer is supposed to look like rusty metal?
Shiny Corviknight is a bit more on the white side I believe
@@lilim364 shiny tinkaton hammer matches a wood hammer not really rust
Also I think Rabsca and Rellor are basically reincarnating constantly. Rabsca's bug part is it's elderly shell, with the Ball being it's new self incubating. The two of them are a mix of Dung Beetles using dung balls to feed their kids, and other scarab species' connection to the afterlife in some cultures. At least that's what I am guessing.
I think it's that way too. Sounds logical.
I think its related to Ra's daily rebirth, with Kehpri the dung beetle being the one that rolls the sun dung ball across the sky
@@rayturnatus2007 I knew it was Egyptian, I just wasn't sure on the specific myth. But I knew it was.
I think the reason why East Gastradon is has higher numbers is because many east shellos evolve in order to retreat inland while west shellos don’t need to since the warmer waters allow them to have more territory
Skeledirge having a connection with a bird could be a reference to how there is a species of bird that pick bits of food from the teeth of crocodiles cleaning them and thus have a symbiotic relationship or how birds and crocodiles have a common ancestor
For the Shellos paradox, I think the reason is that West Shellos enjoy warm water, so they don't need to evolve into Gastrodon, while East Shellos enjoy cold water, but since the water is slowly warming, more East Shellos are trying to evolve into Gastrodon who to my knowledge don't have any temperature preference.
That makes a lot of sense
Kingambit's strategy of just throwing its army at its opponents makes sense when you look at its ability, which makes it stronger when more fainted pokemon are around
So not having a strategy Is the strategy.
@@kingteddieP4 or, it’s like the Joker. Have a plan that is incredibly well thought out, but, let people think that you don’t have a plan do you can easily surprise them
So Kingambit doing a Leroy Jenkins
“Keep your distance from the tiny deadly elephant” is halarious
So on the Gastrodon and Shellos situ. I feel like with the waters heating up West Shellos have become more numerous bc they're not evolving in the warmer waters, whereas warmer waters are making more East Shellos evolve. This is the only way to explain both things happening at once lol
I’ve come to realize something. Mega Salamence is said to end the life of its own trainer. And Roaring moon seems to be a prehistoric mega Salamence. So that means the reason the mega Salamence will attack its trainer is because it’s reverting to a near prehistoric form.
So roaring moon evolved into salamence over time, then when salamence is exposed to mass amounts of mega energy it transforms into a form similar to roaring moon. Could this mean that other megas are "past forms" or their original pokemon?
@@Airlo-rk8wj that’s something I’ve been thinking.
@@Airlo-rk8wj If i remember correctly, Mega Aerodactyl is said to be Aerodactyl's true form before it went extinct and became a fossil! So to some degree, the answer is yes!
Wattrel's dex entry is actually inspired by the Swiftlet bird. These birds make there nests by using their saliva as glue since they usually build their nests on the side of cave walls. People eat them by most commonly turning the nest into a sweet soup called bird's nest soup, others cook it with rice to make it into birds nest congee or bird's nest boiled rice. They do this by separating the saliva from the twigs and cleaning off the reamaining feathers.
The nido bird and its soup.
@@terra.luina.07-naomiegamin44 The nido bird is actually just another species of the cave swiftlets. Their technically almost the same thing. And, like I said, there are actually multiple ways of eating birds nest. The soup is just the most common way.

i like how mikey is looking at stats when talking about the lore in some of these
46:58
For the Shellios theory, I believe that the Shellos are increasing and decreasing based on the temperature of the water, and in order to survive the east Shellos are evolving at a higher rate than the west Shellos in order to compensate
I thought it was because the east form shellos were evolving more than the west form
for me i fell like
there is more of the pink one. so they dont need to evolve to survive and become stronger
while blue one have to or they will die
@@poketrenerboberowy8130 This is what I was thinking too
idk why but my idiotic mind went maybe the west shellos went to the east and got cold, evolved into the east gastrodon XD

Me too, she is very cute and hilarious
Same tinkaton is a very cute pokemon
Villain backstory
Real recognize Real
I just find it funny how you get its backstory through its evolution pokedex entries
For the bird with Crocalor and Skeledirge, I'm pretty sure they based it off of a type of bird that has a symbiotic relationship with crocodiles. It's called the Egyptian plover, crocodiles allow it to be in its mouth to clean its teeth and the bird gets a meal out of it.
My theory for the gastradon shellos thing is there is more available space for the East Sea gastradon because of the fewer shellos while with the west sea variant there are probably more territorial disputes among gastradon because of the more numerous shellos
So a fun bit with the paradox mons and the Dex (Spoilers), when you finish The Way Home storyline, Clavell says he's letting you off for breaking the rules, but you can't mention going into Area Zero. With that in mind, the fact they are all tabloid types of entries make perfect sense, because in-verse, that's basically all the information that exists on them beforehand, and giving accurate info means sharing you went to Area Zero.
Wouldn't using any of them in battle against anybody also be the case?
