Interview tip: I noticed you asked a lot of leading questions where you made a statement about what’s correct and then asked Ted for his opinion. That makes it sound like you are trying to challenge him rather than get his opinion.
Which part
It didn't, ignore them @@AstridNaranjo_dietitian
But hey the interviewer can make an statement and the interviewee can respond otherwise if he/she thinks directly
When did fiber become a nutrient? This is getting us nowhere, it's the old calorie restriction while feeding your addiction. I'm don't see the point at all.
Sorry Ted, I had to stop listening when I heard “specific carbohydrate appetites”. We all know Carbs are not at all essential for the human body.
What is different from saying to a heroin addict “specific heroin appetite”?
As a doctor treating fat people I think I can understand why you are avoiding calling out carb addiction, but I don’t think it does your patients much good in the long term to not address their fundamental addiction to carbs and sugar. Though your softly, softly approach may slowly, over time help them see for themselves that over-eating sugar and carbs isn’t really a great idea.
No-one I know seems to want to address this directly. I see (retired) pals at coffee just heaping in 2-3 teaspoons of sugar into their coffees, they just can’t contemplate not doing this… They keep chugging the statins and all the other pills their GPs recommend for them. Thinking outside the ‘normal’ is impossible for them I feel. I never discuss this anymore with them, unless they ask. One of my pals says to me “i don’t eat sugar” while drinking 500ml of orange juice at breakfast, along with toast, margarine and marmalade! Hardly any protein at all. He has eaten like this for as long as I have known him, 40 odd years. Riddled with arthritis now and Parkinson’s developing nicely.
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Comparing glucose, a fundamental fuel to the human body and brain, to heroin?
Please stop commenting this sort of nonsense
You are so right
Some doctors are still on the fence about our carbohydrate intake they think if they tell us to cut them out, is going into a religion or something for some people moderation is impossible just like a drug addict for others moderation can be achieved, but for someone like me as soon as I eat other stuff I start to feel it on my joints all over my body inflammation just crawls up I love salads but they don’t love me that’s why cutting everything out for a time possibly for just like Michaela Peterson and her father and her mother they cut out everything and that’s how they’re living in the best health of their life.
It’s not essential to eat more than 0.8g/kg optimal bodyweight protein. It is benefitial to eat 1.6 g/kg optimal bodyweight protein. Get it? Sure, technically not essential, but…
Btw the entire insulin hypothesis of obesity was repeatedly proven wrong, so…beating a dead horse. It’s not about insulin. Even the best weight loss meds stimulate insulin. Which directly contradicts the hypothesis.
