The tattoo itself was done beyond terribly and it looked as if she'd carved into the client skin. The tattoo is just terribly done overall. The artist blocked the client on tiktok before posting the video and was trying to mislead from the beginning.
yeah I think this is a result of this common misconception in the tattoo community that a lot of tattoo artists think they have to tattoo deeper into dark skin for it to show up
This looked worse than the crap tattoo I got in a basement for having traded... and she paid for this... this was someone who was either not that great normally, or she was Full-On having a breakdown with the ink on the needle and gun in hand and power on... like... wow
The tattoo artist legit blew up her own career, nobody would’ve known anything about this tattoo if she hadn’t been making up sob stories for sympathy 😂
Her reaction was so over the top, and that's what caught my attention, and that made me suspicious of her motivation. Don't people sign waivers before they get inked? She struck me as suspicious in her video. The client on the other hand, I found her to be quite credible and believable.
@@louisejohnson6057 It's hard to know from such limited information, but I also found LaiBankss more credible. She just came across as someone who would probably be pissed but able to be reasonable about the situation, and I do tend to believe her that she wouldn't have gone to social media first.
@@louisejohnson6057we sign waivers for infections and saying if we don’t care for our tats it’s on us, if the place has a “touch up policy” that’s in the contract. None of mine included a “if the artist isn’t in the zone and messes up the spelling of your tattoo,” clause. Mostly because my artists we’re professionals and wouldn’t be caught dead showing off misspelled work. 😂😂😂 She’s a joke.
Oh for sure… who TF would Ever go to her when she can’t even do a BASIC simple writing tattoo?!?😂 idk how she can even show her face on here after that & how she’s not beyond embarrassed with herself & her work!
Tattooist here. That’s more of a pure skin dig than a blowout. Blowouts got into the fatty tissue and look blurry. The red irritation around the tattoo along with the loss of tissue in the lines tell me that it was done too fast, too shallow and essentially just dug out skin. Absolutely tragic.
I got a tat at a “tattoo party” in a mobile home in a trailer park (yeah I know I was 17). It’s around my ankle, moon and stars kinda tribal (yes I know it was during the phase), purple and black. Horrible scaring, felt like he was cutting with the tattoo gun. It was my first tho so I had no clue. I want it covered, my dad’s gf’s brother knew the guy, he got him to do it.when her and my dad broke up she said the tattoo guy put her brothers initials in it! Have another he did on my back that’s awesome tho with no initials in it! It’s a fairy I found on a postcard I fell in love with
Would you agree that it also looks like it's not just irritated, it's infected? Like, to me, that looks like when I've had a cut get infected. But I've never had a tattoo get infected so not sure exactly what that would look like. I'd be going to a doctor though, if it was me.
I’m also a tattoo artist, 100% agree with it being carved out skin rather than a blowout. It look like it’s infected at that centre scab but not from bad aftercare, the skins healing inwards and pinched by the scabbing rather than evenly, then considering the inflammation and discolouration around the scab it does really point to her skin being dug out, like when you get a nasty gash or cut and you need to avoid a bacterial cyst.
So… this girl is actually in my town, I’ve had my shop for 23 years in the same town and shops like this have been popping up for the last 10 years or so because there’s oil money here and next to none of them have any actual training. They’re all spawns of failed apprentices from terrible mentors and things like this are the result of this industry having its ‘rock star’ moment. She handled every bit of this situation terribly. I keep hoping the client will come to see me. 23 years of fixing wanna be shops work has given me a little edge on cover ups and redos. If anyone knows how to get ahold of the client, I don’t have tic toc, tell her to get ahold of Crystal at In the Flesh Tattoos.
Commenting so the algorithm picks this up. The spelling was bad enough but the script was so horrible and the tattoo was so botched I was genuinely surprised this person had a shop and other clients. This explanation helps clear up my confusion. I hope she finds your shop and you can clean up what was done to her. And then I hope she sues this "artist" for all of the physical and mental and monetary stress this cost her.
@@kayjayhay I appreciate it. I couldn’t believe when I realized this was someone from my town. It’s been so frustrating having all these shops pop up. I truly love tattooing and have great respect for the industry. I’m currently training my 3rd apprentice and it’s hard for her to see all these people that haven’t paid their dues making money but seeing stuff like this whole situation she’s said more than once she’s so happy she’s being taught everything the right way. A real apprenticeship isn’t just learning tattooing, it’s also business management and client relations. At least this is a good example of how not to handle screwing up. One thing I’ve always stood by is if I’m not feeling up for a tattoo that day I cancel, people get pissed sometimes but they get over a cancellation, it’s a lot harder to get over bad work.
Oh I believe they are real, they’re just from an Uber sensitive person who can’t take any constructive criticism and cries at even the smallest of complaints. They’re real, she’s just delusional.
The tattoo "artist" immediately had me against her with how catty and shitty she came across in that tElL mE wHaT yOu WaNt obnoxious tik tok. The level headed response from the client and the evidence of the butchery done to her arm sealed the deal that the tattooist was in the wrong here.
And then the 'if she is respectful.' Like, you are not her momma or her teacher! Had a feeling she didn't say that to her face. Yea I am not getting lying from the second girl. She comes across much more genuine.
I've seen better prison tattoos. This tattoo "artist" needs more hours of practice on whatever the hell it is that people practice on BEFORE they're allowed to put needle(s) to actual flesh. My dominant hand has arthritis in the knuckles of 3 of my fingers, and my hand will sometimes start to shake quite dramatically when I'm doing something that requires my fine motor skills. This tattoo looks like I did it.
Right! I was thinking the same thing. If you're going to get words tattooed on you, at least use a nice font not something that looks like a 14 year old scribbled in her notebook.
Well because she’s prob embarrassed herself! Who TF gets a writing tattoo without QUADRUPLE checking the spelling first & doesn’t even kno how tf to spell what they want done💀🤣
@@anabella4166 What "professional" tattoo artist doesnt know how to spell or utilize spell check? If it was my profession to permanently ink someone for life I would know how to use spell check.
Given how calmly the client is responding to this whole tiktok mess, it's hard to imagine she was as aggressive as the tattoo artist said. I don't know why you'd come to social media to tell people you can't do your job in the first place. Even if the client was mean about it, I wouldn't go to a tattoo artist that was both that careless and then that willing to call out a client. She just showed poor judgement all around.
yeah. Both are wrong in this situation, but the way the tattoo artist acts is so petty that even though she "admitted" being in the wrong, it just seems like she only said it to preserve her image, not bc she actually meant it. The client sounds more reasonable
I mean it's entirely possible to be calm, cool, and collected after the fact in a response video when you were an aggressive bitch on the spot initially. Personally I think at this point both these people are dumb and I don't care.
@@theredking2839you can tell from the way the artist goes from uncontrollable sobs to slowly placing more and more blame on client to doing little funny songs talking shit about client to acting like the client was so embarrassed by her behavior that she ran out of store to demanding the client show "respect" and *maybe* she'll get it fixed. Very dishonest and manipulative behavior.
Disagree its 50/50. The artist wrote the tattoo and the client showed her what she wanted and she showed it how its spelled. If you dont know basic grammar you should tattoo. Im dyslexic and english is my 3 language. I have a quote tattooed on me that i designed, i used google to be 100% sure that it was spelled correctly.
@@Iceicebaby0117the client also agreed that it’s partly her fault . The issue is the tattoo artist coming online telling half the story then blocking the client before she could even get her tattoo fixed .
YUP. I was going to say she likely wasn’t being aggressive but was perceived as aggressive after a normal and reasonable response because she is a black woman. And that is that artist’s bias…not this woman’s fault.
The tattoo shop I go to makes you write it out yourself on their forms and basically go "if it's spelt wrong that's your problem" and you sign the consent form
@@chazzo3759 Because EVEN if you sign a waiver, if you problem is due to medical mal practice you have the right to sue. Waiver is not a license to bad service
this whole thing seems to have incredibly racist undertones. a lot of people in the community have mentioned how some uneducated artists mistakenly believe that you have to press deeper into more melanated skin. this is untrue, you don't need to use any more pressure tattooing a black person than you would a white person. the tattoo community has had a very unsavory history with skin tone inclusivity. it also seems like she's trying to perpetuate the "angry black woman" stereotype by making the client out to be angry and aggressive when in reality she seems like a very levelheaded person. this entire situation is so weird.
When I saw her all carved up I thought the same thing. The only time you’re supposed to apply more or less pressure is if you’re on a thicker or thinner body part. My teacher specializes in color works on melanated skin. He did this one piece of peppermint swirl candies and it kept just fine 12 months later. You just have to be gentle to the skin no matter what color it is.
@@mumsspaghetti6649 I was an apprentice in the industry for awhile before I went into a different artistic career path. It is a HUGE problem in the tattoo industry against dark skinned people. Sorry but it true. This isn’t satire. It is just that messed up and racist.
@@afriendorfoe yeah, and then she said her client was being aggressive when that seems to not be the case, which happens to be a racist stereotype about black women. Certainly that's just a coincidence 🙄
I want to point out that as a black person, I’m not accusing her of anything, but I know from firsthand experience that there are definitely tattoo artists who have preconceived notions about black people. Now I’m light skinned so I know I have some privelage in that area, but even then, there are some artists who genuinely view black people as more inherently aggressive, or having thicker skin that needs harder pressing as well. I’ve had experiences with negotiating a price for a tattoo (calmly) and having the artist treating me as if I’m on edge or teetering on the edge of aggressiveness. I hope that didn’t factor into it.
As a non-black person, that was the impression that I got. For her, a black person standing up for themselves was an attack on her. Reminds me of all the other times we’ve seen this same thing, like the birdwatcher in the park with the lady & her off leash dog.
I picked up that vibe too… and it really feels like she was banking on everyone would believe that the big aggressive black woman made the petite white woman cry.
As a white woman with a black son, I'm afraid you are right about her attitude. I never realized how bad racism is until my son. The same people who rant about them not being at all racist treat him so differently. If you point out how racist their comments or actions are they absolutely refuse to accept that they are racist. I hope she is not one of those people, but her attitude comes across as being one. His dad used to tell me he preferred the people who knew they were racist over the liberals who couldn't accept they thought they were better than everyone with a darker complection. I learned to agree with him.
it's like the tattoo artist rushed to make the video in case the client decided to expose her since people tend to believe the first version of a story a lot more. So even if she lied about certain details, we wouldn't be as inclined to believe the client's version
25 yr Tattoo artist * 5 yrs retired*..... It should have not been fixed until it healed to see how it heales and the best way to approach fixing. Also it looks possibly infected wich could be partially on both parts, 1. tattooing over a fresh tattoo 2 client care....... Now this is just me but I had a few mess ups in my early years, nothing major and all fixable either by myself or a more experienced artist...with that said I never blamed my client, it is ultimately my work = my responsibility. You don't take your car to get fixed, it doesn't get done right and you blame yourself? The mechanic takes the responsibility. This tattoo artist has been doing this long enough to know if your not 100 that day, you have no business picking up your machines and throwing ink. That is 1 of the first things I was taught over 30yrs ago! Unacceptable!
No really the fact that this guy is going "you get the stencil, you get as long as you need to look at it" Ok but it's the tattooer's job to make the tattoo. If it's spelt wrong, the onus is on the person that made the tattoo. Especially since many tattoos are in hard to see places.
Yes exactly, you cannot just half ass your job when your job is to alter people's bodies. When your accountant messed up your documents, does he say no its your fault for not checking even though i didn't ask you to check??
@jadecoolness101 no, things are spelled differently, some people don't know certain words, some are names. If you are familar enough with the words then YOU check. Like you are responsible as well, sure, but the spelling is one of the only parts where the client does have more responsibility.
@@lexyruse603 Plus this tattoo artist literally carved into her skin, scarring her for life. If anything the client is the one who got assaulted here. It's really, really bad. Like 'someone with a needle in their hand wanted to harm you and they did' type bad.
That second video that she posted basically saying 'if your respectful' and what not gave me a shiver up my spine. It felt so disrespectful and snarky after the first one where she was apologizing and crying. Something didn't feel right even without the customer talking about it.
It also feels oddly racist saying something like that as a white tattoo artist to a black client. Like there’s a power dynamic to begin with that’s always going to be imbalanced because one person is marking the other’s skin permanently and if they just decide they’re not going to put their full effort in then the client is the one who has to deal with that for the rest of their life. The fact that spriggs wanted to “get ahead” of the story by posting what basically amounted to a lie about the client’s reaction being aggressive then BLOCKING her, it just feels like another level of disrespect. She could’ve handled it offline by recognizing her mistake, humbling herself, and offering a cover-up & refund WITHOUT taking it to tiktok.

Which then, the tattoo artist could quick flash you the picture to try to get the okay. "Eh, but you're the customer, you should be able to tell the person something is off/wrong" Okay.... at 3:20 there's a couple issues, as an artist of 3 decades will point out. 1: You don't charge the client to fix the mistake, you fix it again if need be. Now i do agree that there needs to be some courtesy from the client, but you don't need to tell the world. Get the client in, fix it and touch it up after it heals. 2: she used "skin tone" ink to cover the mistakes. This will not work. Black over powers all colors of ink. Nothing but black will cover it unless its a piece designed to cover up a tattoo. Putting flesh color ink on the tattoo will do nothing. It WILL come thru. Ill make a video on this for further in depth details. For now, at this point of the video, shes in the wrong 2 ways. I digress as i watch the rest. Also, real quick. She wouldn't be working in my studio with this drama. And as the owner, id fix it myself free of charge. Shoot, ill fix this free of charge and I didn't do it.. Email me if the client sees this.

The tattoo was awful to start with. The penmanship was so bad it is almost illegible. But the tattoo artist screwed up the tattoo. Full Stop. And she has the nerve to continue to charge this client for correcting it? The client deserved a full refund and I would never even consider allowing her to do the correction. Absolutely not, no way.
My experience with text based tattoos, is the client chooses the font, and it's typed out. We don't have enough details to say it was handwritten, but I'd assume the client chose the type of text.
Lai is something else (in a good way), saying it "Wasn't a big deal" about something so permanent. I overthink clothing options and regret past fashion choices. And here she is, shrugging off a botched tattoo. Incredible. I want that kind of zen and fortitude 🙏😂
It looks like a scratcher tattoo, the artist is simply not good at her job. And then to cry about it like it was some huge issue when Lai is genuinely just chill, no. Lai was 100% when she called those crocodile tears. The “artist” (I say that very loosely) should find a different line of work.
She went too deep. The spot you were talking about possibly being a scar is the blowout. I can't believe that Spriggs actually has the nerve to call herself an artist scarring people like that.
Im a tattoo artist. If i ever dug that deep into someone’s skin… no. I would never. Thus is absolutely horrible. That poor girl should get on preventative antibiotics and file a complaint with whatever county that artist is working in
Oh God! That poor woman is CARVED LIKE A THANKSGIVING TURKEY!!! She needs to sue to protect other people from this butcher. A half refund isn’t good enough! We need to have more accountability in the industry.
The crocodile tears were extremely painful to watch. I wouldn't trust someone that's posting a video on tiktok with that kind of attempt at garnering sympathy
As someone with MANY tattoos and 21 years experience receiving them- don’t ask a client HOW they want a word fixed! They wanted it spelled correctly from the beginning, its not up to a client to figure out how to fix a tattoo once the “artist” messes it up. Also, if you can permanently scar people’s bodies, and you’re not in the right mindset that day, maybe DON’T?!
Client is chill asf. Her parents did a great job. Seems like a nice young lady, should be proud of how she spoke for herself. Took accountability and was still cool.
i mean client admitted it was her fault that she didnt catch the misspelling but the tattoo artist was wrong on even more levels. the artist came out with a tiktok first to garner the initial pity party she wanted and then that called for the client to come out with her side. just the way the artist was responding and speaking about the client gave me the ick now seeing how the tattoo is "healing" the artist definitely dug into her skin
I’m sorry but no. As an artist it’s definitely more on the tattoo artist to make sure that the tattoo is spelt correctly. Why? Because that’s her PROFESSION. She’s getting PAID to do work, that the client otherwise can’t do because of her ‘skills’ (which we now know is lacking) and experience. If she (tattoo artist) was in any other profession like a doctor or accountant she would be fired expeditiously for malpractice. Like, are we forgetting that the tattoo artist said that this wasn’t their first time messing on a client. Rather they messed up a ‘couple’ of times on other clients. Honestly, the client had a better chance at receiving a good tattoo if she did herself with a diy kit from Amazon and lessons from CZcams. As a professional, this is just embarrassing. 🤦🏽♀️
yes!!! it’s not the clients fault, when you’re getting a tattoo you’re probably super excited and not exactly looking the closest at certain things. it’s the tattoo artist’s fault, period.
You can tell by the clients calm demeanor on the tik tok she probably doesn’t often get aggressive at all. I definitely believe her that she didn’t freak out like that.
yeah no. That tattoo is super blown out. It’s in a sensetive area so the artist went in too heavy, with delicate letters like that you cannot go too deep because it will get blown out and muddy. There’s another term called “hamburger meat” which is when a tattoo artist goes over the same area too many times and basically create an open wound. This looks like it’s almost an open wound.
Artist said in original video "i told her she needs to tell me how to fix it or it won't be fixed"... no what she should have did is take a pic of the tattoo and show options for correcting it, if nothing can be agreed at that time, sleep on it and let the customer come back later... idc if she is crying in the first video, thats not how u deescalate a situation with a client.
Not the same tattooist in North Dakota that was blasted on FB less than a year ago because she had an appointment and when the client showed up she was high AF and was still trying to push doing the tattoo telling the client "Some people can work better drunk but I work better when I'm feelin good" and kept pressing, to the point the client walked out and went somewhere else and got on FB to warn people. The artist that did his tattoo said they had done multiple fixes and coverups for her tattoos and she helped keep him in business.
Omg! 😱 but honestly I am not surprised given how the tattooist spoke and looked? Idk she just didn't ever seem professional when she gave that whole sob story about how she didn't feel like working but did any way. Like ma'am, many of us have days where we don't feel like working and don't have the luxury of a job where we can choose our own hours. We either suck it up and do it or take the day off.
I was really weirded out by SPRIGGS suddenly singing the Spice Girls. I, uh, thought she was super upset about messing up? And then she's singing and dropping shade on the client "if you're respectful"? I guess folks buying into her version of the story really gassed her up.
maybe she's trying to recover from embarrasment at being an oversensitive asshat at a non-confrontational situation that was *HER FAULT* by, like, going the other way; being playful and sassy with it, etc etc. idk I don't like her at all by this point, rancid vibes - have met a few people like that who did nastier crazier stuff not much further down the line in time.
I think the tattoo artist is lying personally. I think the reason she got on camera crying about it in the first place was because she thought the girl who got the tattoo might end up posting something about it and it could go viral so she kinda wanted to get ahead of the situation if that did happen so she could be like, we’ll look I also posted a video and you can see how cut up I am about it. Etc etc and said a few lies in the video to make herself come out looking better as people will always take sides. Soo I think it was all done maliciously myself. (The video that is) I just don’t get the feeling that the girl that got the tattoo is lying her in the TA videos after the crying one I don’t get that same feeling. But that’s just what I think really happened.
It looks like someone cut her arm open and then tried to close it up with a tattoo stitch. Also I smell a defamation lawsuit ending that tattooist's business. Don't block your clients and slander them pre-emptively or at all, it will just bite your ass harder, you have no idea who has money and you don't know if your client is an attorney or not, or has retained an attorney. Just do the job correctly and you won't get flack for it. If you're bad at what you do, train yourself to be better, or quit, no one is forcing you to stay and give bad tattoos.
Imagine having to ask anyone performing a service “Are you feeling up to it today?” That’s ridiculous and an insult to any professional who takes their profession seriously.
To say this is the clients fault is WILD. The tattoo is on the back of her arm. I’m sure she trusted the artist to do it right. I can’t think of any service where it’s the clients fault if the person providing the service screws up.
As as client it is 10000% NOT on you to make sure the tattoo artist is in the right head space to tattoo. If I walk in there and you ar there taking clients that means YOU are ready to work. That's like saying that as a customer you should make sure the cashier is in the right head space to ring you out. No. You are there to take my money, if you arent' "in the right head space" you need to go home or decline the service, period.
What a fantastic case of "you dont ever know all the details" cause last video i was on the tattooers side... Now im definitely on the customers. Dont need to see anything other than how terrible that tattoo looks. It looks like an injury! Even if the customer was angry i think she had a pretty good reason to be!! Only thing i could at all think the customer may be at fault for is the spelling but thats so small compared to the rest of this...
The way my draw dropped seeing that tattoo. 😭 Like...girl. This is why I hate social media. Someone messes up and they want to run and spin the story before the truth comes out so they get sympathy points. If I was the woman who got the tattoo, I'd be livid. She handled it better than I would have.
oh my *GOD* that is a horribly done tattoo. As someone who has many, that is just *not* okay. Her skin is literally damaged, horribly, split open by the needles. On top of it, thanks for showing the stencil...because it showed you didn't even follow it. TBH, spelling is the least of it. The lines are terrible, she can't pull a curved line to save her life...even the "L" was fucked up. That is an *awful* tattoo in every way, the spelling is literally the least of it....
I am of the opinion that the artist was worried that the client might blast her on social media because it’s so common these days and rushed to make a “pity me” video preemptively to get her narrative out first. I’m also of the opinion that her work was beyond terrible and that she is crazy overpriced. I have many many tattoos and on one I mistakenly gave a backward date. It was totally my fault but because my artist is a professional he didn’t hesitate to offer to correct it for me. It took two trips to effectively fix MY mistake and he still only charged me for the supplies used. That’s a professional who cares about his clients and reputation. And of course I blasted my satisfaction and gratitude with him and sent even more business his way. Regardless of who’s more at fault, this artist publicly shaming and disrespecting clients is ridiculously unprofessional. It’s sad that so many feel the need to take what should be handled privately whenever possible to social media and actively seek to hurt or destroy others these days. It sure seems as if this is exactly the case in this situation to me. 🤷♀️
I personally feel, with no proof but tons of gut instincts, that the artist was worried that her mistake was going to go viral and was trying to get ahead of it. Then it totally backfired because the client seems chill af and probably would have never posted about it if the artists didn't lie about her online, painting her as a bad person. Also, 1000% unrelated, the client seems like they would be an awesome person to be friends with. The kind of friend that would calm your ass down when you're losing your shit over dumb stuff, and then get you to laugh at yourself over how stupid you were acting.
The tattoo artist is using quite a lot of micro aggressive terms when talking about the client in tiktoks. I have noticed. Such as calling her black client aggressive or demanding her client to be respectful. Very white woman tears from the artist imo…
Like I saw the first video and felt bad, but it like quickly became clear there's something malicious about this tattoo artist. No one with darker skin should have to deal with this type of mistreatment when getting body mods. I've seen some amazing tattoos on darker skin, bright colorful glitter tattoo, cute whimsy line art tats, amazing black and white tattoos, etc. Insane for an artist to act like this, just super ignorant and rasict.
yeah at first i was like "oh well that sucks" because people can be nasty to customer service type jobs. then she showed the tattoo and I changed my mind completely and now think the artist is full on lying because of the terms she used on purpose.
The client came with receipts, and it's clear the tattoo artist lied from the beginning regarding not giving a refund . It's safe to assume she also lied about the rest.
They resort to weaponized tears every single time. Smh. First of all one look at that "artist" should have told the client everything she needed to know. The tattoos on herself as the artist looks like jailhouse tattoos. Let's be real.
The minute I saw the original video I knew the artist was in the wrong. The crocodile tears were too much. It’s the ultimate white woman uno reverse: not take accountability by crying and making a scene. It takes away from the client who was truly impacted by the artist’s mistake and manipulates the situation so the client looks like the aggressor. The way she was playing victim was sooo overt. My thoughts and prayers to the client she shouldn’t deal w this mess lol

Honestly that girl Lai is the hero of this story. I know I would not have been so relaxed and able to smile after a bad tattoo experience and then seeing my artist rallying for sympathy on social media over it. So much respect for her
Ya i had a bad feeling about that artist from the first vid. She saw an opportunity to try and get some clout and took it. Glad she deleted her tik tok😂
Haven't even heard the rest of the story but i did get an icky feeling hearing the artist cry and cry and trying too hard for us to pity her...i feel there's more to the story... Yep... Seeing her smile and make fun of customer...hum, something's fishy
I don’t buy into the artist tears. I think it was a calculated decision to get on the internet and cry like she was so hurt by the clients calling her a dumb itch. She was afraid this girl was going to tell people on the internet and ruin her. She jumped on it first. Gaining support in a fight where there was none was all she was after. I believe the girl that got the messed up tattoo. I’m with her.
So I'm guessing Spriggs thought the client was going to post about online and make her look bad, so Spriggs decided to "get out in front of it" or whatever and make up this story to make it seem like she was the victim in the situation. If that's the case, talking about playing yourself 😂
The reason the tattoo looks like that is 💯 because of the artist. Not only did she go too deep, it's pretty common knowledge that you need to be more careful/gentle with darker skin. The more melanin, the higher the risk of keloids and scarring (which are a risk for everyone, it's just higher) - especially if you're too rough on the skin. You can tell that, when she tried to fix it, she just dug in there - that's definitely a scar from the fix.
Gaslighting your client after leaving them with a botched tattoo is a new level of low. Those tears should've been tears of remorse and sympathy for the damage, pain, humiliation, debt, and lost time she caused her client. The tattoo artist is a evil and conniving person with a vindictive spirit. The client should be angry, upset, and pissed off, yet that young lady was so angelic and relative and she didn't look as if she spent any time stressing or dwelling over it at all. The client needs to sue the tattoo artist for the botched tattoo, slander, and cyberbullying.
If you’re a tattoo artist and you’re in the shop- be ready to work or GO HOME! Don’t mess up people’s bodies because you’re in the wrong headspace. As someone with MULTIPLE tattoos, I’ll go to someone else, you’re not the only tattoo artist around! I love how the client took responsibility. ❤ Adulting in 2024. Let’s make it a trend!
And what have we learnt? *Dont do a tattoo if youre not in the mental state to make one!* And as the client. Maybe write down what you want and hand it to the artist? It seems to be the easiest way to avoid issues. as much as possible anyways
she showed it to her on the phone though. the artist even admitted it was spell check that changed it. also after the first line of "don't tattoo if you're not in the mental state to make one" everything else is a moot point. This is on the tattoo artist who took on a client while not in the right headspace
Yeah I thought that with the first video - she said she wasn't planning on doing tattoos that day so why did she not just say "Sorry I'm not doing tattoos today, let's set you up with an appointment for later"?
The video of the tattoo artist crying gave me the ick the first time I saw it posted here, it reminded me of the time when I was a child and I hurt my younger sibling while we were playing so I cried harder and faster than he could… it was definitely that
That artist should quit because that’s not a tattoo that’s an opened wound there’s no reason she needs to go that deep holy cow she needs a new job that’s scary
I'm on the client's side now. The tattoo itself is quite small and the font is weird. To look at it in a mirror where the lettering is reversed, the font is weird, it's small, and on the back of an elbow on darker skin who has just had that "rush" that comes with getting her first tattoo that day. Yes, it would be difficult for this client to see if it was spelled wrong and we really trust tattoo artists. Luckily, a tattoo this small and done so poorly can easily be covered up.
Even before seeing the rest of the videos, as soon as I heard her tone and general attitude in the video where she showed the stencil I turned against her. That was so clearly someone who is enjoying the attention she's getting more than anything else And as usual, I'm way more inclined to believe the person who has actual proof, and those texts + the fact she was blocked so she couldn't tell her side of the story in the comments says a lot.
11:01 By too deep... ugh... no, worse... The needle was too fine a point and run way way Too too tight into the loops of the letters to the point it carved her skin like a Sawzall tipped with a needle... just... that's nothing the client could have done to prevent... that's all on the artist for not respecting human flesh as her canvass. I'm honestly thinking she had the right to sue for the costs of the cosmetic surgery that kind of wound will take to fix. I saw wound as that's all she got, a wound with ink slipped in... 14:48 The character after the fixed Q and before the R is only fair to call a scar... that's at rather strong proof that the artist butchered that woman's arm.
I have 11 tattoos, now. The artists have always been incredibly clean, professional, friendly, and, again, professional. If my tattoo artist reacted that way to me saying "hey you messed up, dude, help", even if i was snarky about it...i'm reporting them and getting their license revoked ASAP. No one that unstable should be using any type of needle on any living being ever, even livestock. I would not trust her to follow proper protocols, provide correct info on aftercare, nothing. Looking at the finished product, idk how she got an internship letalone her license/certificate/whatever it is. Even if it was my fault, if you can't maintain your professionalism under this kind of stress, you don't need to be in any customer centered profession ever. 🥴
I am a finish carpenter. Sometimes I don't feel like I'm having a good but I still go to work because it's a job. Stairs and trim need to be installed regardless. It's a job to the artist too. People show up to to work upset all the time
Yeah, that was a little unfair. People have to work for a living, and it really doesn't matter if you 'feel up to it'. Its either you go and suffer through it and do your best, or you get evicted. That counts for artists just as much as any other job, sometimes even more so, because you have to take work where you can get it. Its not like its a stable gig
Especially tattoo artists, because they usually have to pay shop rental fees regardless of whether or not they are tattooing. I work in healthcare, and I would love to only work with patients on days when I feel 100%, but real life just doesn't work that way. I've had bosses - who are actual medical doctors - tell me that I need to show up to work sick, where I handle newborn babies. I try to wear PPE and wash my hands a lot, but if it's between losing my livelihood and my career that I've worked so hard for and have tens of thousands of dollars of student loans for, and taking the day off to prevent my little patients from getting sick, it's a sucky choice but an obvious one.
I said it on the previous video and I'll say it again before watching this video, it's the tattoo artist's job to ASK the client to check the spelling. Why? Because they are the professional and clients are varied. They are most probably overwhelmed, exciting, and full of emotions when getting a tattoo. Being in a tattoo parlour itself can feel intimidating and clients may not check bc they may feel like they are in the hands of a professional, which they are. Clients may also be dyslexic and as a professional, you may not know that. They might be on pain meds, they might be anxious, so. Many. Factors. And tbh the fact that this "professional" has done this mistake multiple times but still puts it on the clients is wild. If I made that mistake ONCE, I would make it a part of my routine to ask clients if the tattoo is spelt right.
I get the feeling that this tattoo artist thought she could get ahead of any criticism from the client by acting like the victim. But the client's response, the tattoo itself, and the fact that the artist preemptively blocked the client makes me take the client's side. Shady behavior.
Ooph! Girl needs to stay out of that shop and not get anything else “fixed.” Judging from how inexperienced or laxed this shop seems she’s liable to get hep c from there. Cut losses and run, girl.
Why would she dig into her arm like that?? Isn't she supposed to be a professional 🤔 the whole way she's acting too, like the dramatic fake crying, its not believable, seems manipulative. I think she realized she could get blasted online and tried to discredit the client before the client even said anything online. 🙄 glad she outed herself before she carved up more people
The tattoo itself was done beyond terribly and it looked as if she'd carved into the client skin.

I totally agree on this point
I’m also a tattoo artist, 100% agree with it being carved out skin rather than a blowout.
It look like it’s infected at that centre scab but not from bad aftercare, the skins healing inwards and pinched by the scabbing rather than evenly, then considering the inflammation and discolouration around the scab it does really point to her skin being dug out, like when you get a nasty gash or cut and you need to avoid a bacterial cyst.
@@maryjane4432 why did the tattoo guy but your dad's ex-gf's bro's initials in your tattoo??
So… this girl is actually in my town, I’ve had my shop for 23 years in the same town and shops like this have been popping up for the last 10 years or so because there’s oil money here and next to none of them have any actual training. They’re all spawns of failed apprentices from terrible mentors and things like this are the result of this industry having its ‘rock star’ moment.
She handled every bit of this situation terribly.
I keep hoping the client will come to see me. 23 years of fixing wanna be shops work has given me a little edge on cover ups and redos.

And then I hope she sues this "artist" for all of the physical and mental and monetary stress this cost her.

Very dishonest and manipulative behavior.

this whole thing seems to have incredibly racist undertones. a lot of people in the community have mentioned how some uneducated artists mistakenly believe that you have to press deeper into more melanated skin. this is untrue, you don't need to use any more pressure tattooing a black person than you would a white person. the tattoo community has had a very unsavory history with skin tone inclusivity. it also seems like she's trying to perpetuate the "angry black woman" stereotype by making the client out to be angry and aggressive when in reality she seems like a very levelheaded person. this entire situation is so weird.
Yesss
When I saw her all carved up I thought the same thing. The only time you’re supposed to apply more or less pressure is if you’re on a thicker or thinner body part. My teacher specializes in color works on melanated skin. He did this one piece of peppermint swirl candies and it kept just fine 12 months later.

@@irisuchiha5218I personally am side eying a lot of his takes here. From the picture, this was done in a hard to see place. Meaning the only way the person getting it can even properly see the tattoo is with a mirror or with someone taking a picture and showing. Which then, the tattoo artist could quick flash you the picture to try to get the okay.
"Eh, but you're the customer, you should be able to tell the person something is off/wrong"
Okay.... But a lot of people who get their hair done also do not do that. They try to stay quiet as not to seem like they are complaining or being a Karen. The walk out the salon with fucked up hair.

@@Franklinandme I reckoned that was what they meant, but it was funny to have it "misspelled" because of the topic of the video so decided that's what I thought.
😂😂😂
the client actually seems incredibly chill considering how heinously fucked up that tattoo was.
at 3:20 there's a couple issues, as an artist of 3 decades will point out.
I just subscribed. I'll also subscribe on my channel in a min. I think that is an amazing thing you're offering! I've had a tattoo in mind for awhile but I wanted to lose weight first(not going well lmao) and there's the fact I have sensitive skin so idk if I could get tattooed.
Is the skin tone ink the reason there is a black smudge above it? her trying to cover up black ink with something lighter?
“You should know your homophones” is the funniest burn 😂 even if it’s not exactly a homophone lmao it’s close enough. Also yeah that tattoo is blown ouuuut. Omg wait I just zoomed in it has like a wound in it?! What happened 😭
She got absolutely carved. There's a belief in the tattoo community that you have to press harder on skin with melanin. You don't.

Oof, that turn from victim to smug as hell... I have whip lash with those two videos 😳
and all the comments on the first video markie did about this situation are completely against the client lol this is why we wait to form opinions
Yeah, spelling aside even the stencil was awful.
Makes me doubt everything the tattoo artist has said honestly.
@@princessofjedi100%. I can't see someone who's that chill cussing out a tattoo artist and screaming at them
It's the 100% tattoo artist fault. Imagine if a mechanic fucks up your car, then blames you because you didn't notice.
Why are we all glossing over the fact that Lai said there are cameras in the shop? This could all be solved so easily.
The way she got on the first video crying I was suspicious. She wanted to spin the story in case the client blasted her.
The fact she offered her money back. And blocked her before posting the video makes me think the tattoo artist is the 1 who is lying
My stepmother got a tat thay said bitch but the artist spelled it bicth and she was like MEH no biggie I'm not a perfect bitch anyway 😂
Imagine having a misspelled “bitch” tattoo. How to make a trashy tattoo trashier in 1 step 😬
Stepgranny didn't raise no bicth
I love this lol
Lol, sounds like my grandma! God bless.
That's the best response possible honestly. I love that ❤😂
As someone with MANY tattoos and 21 years experience receiving them- don’t ask a client HOW they want a word fixed!
Took accountability and was still cool.
i mean client admitted it was her fault that she didnt catch the misspelling but the tattoo artist was wrong on even more levels. the artist came out with a tiktok first to garner the initial pity party she wanted and then that called for the client to come out with her side. just the way the artist was responding and speaking about the client gave me the ick
now seeing how the tattoo is "healing" the artist definitely dug into her skin
thank you!!!
Right, if you can’t spell maybe don’t do lettering tattoos 🤷♀️
yes!!! it’s not the clients fault, when you’re getting a tattoo you’re probably super excited and not exactly looking the closest at certain things. it’s the tattoo artist’s fault, period.
You can tell by the clients calm demeanor on the tik tok she probably doesn’t often get aggressive at all. I definitely believe her that she didn’t freak out like that.
That is a CUT. Holy shit….
And I’m sorry. But there’s NO excuse to make that much of a spelling mistake.
Also looks like she carved her letters into her skin
That’s no blowout 😭 this poor woman

Artist said in original video "i told her she needs to tell me how to fix it or it won't be fixed"... no what she should have did is take a pic of the tattoo and show options for correcting it, if nothing can be agreed at that time, sleep on it and let the customer come back later... idc if she is crying in the first video, thats not how u deescalate a situation with a client.
I'm sorry but it was a crappy tattoo even without a spelling error
I GASPED in horror at that picture. I have a blown out tattoo from choosing a subpar artist but I have no words for how horrible that tattoo is
I am of the opinion that the artist was worried that the client might blast her on social media because it’s so common these days and rushed to make a “pity me” video preemptively to get her narrative out first.
Tbh Lai is somebody I would enjoy hanging out with, she's funny and SO CHILL considering the situation 😂
The tattoo artist is using quite a lot of micro aggressive terms when talking about the client in tiktoks. I have noticed. Such as calling her black client aggressive or demanding her client to be respectful. Very white woman tears from the artist imo…
lets call it what it is, racist!
Yeah I noticed she started with the client being black in the last one and it raised an eyebrow.
yeah at first i was like "oh well that sucks" because people can be nasty to customer service type jobs. then she showed the tattoo and I changed my mind completely and now think the artist is full on lying because of the terms she used on purpose.
I know Markie is a white guy but ho wouldn’t necessarily pick up on these small things, but as a WOC my eyebrows were raised this whole video.

*Dont do a tattoo if youre not in the mental state to make one!*
And as the client. Maybe write down what you want and hand it to the artist? It seems to be the easiest way to avoid issues.
as much as possible anyways
yup. i bring in my exact art
she showed it to her on the phone though. the artist even admitted it was spell check that changed it. also after the first line of "don't tattoo if you're not in the mental state to make one" everything else is a moot point. This is on the tattoo artist who took on a client while not in the right headspace
Yeah I thought that with the first video - she said she wasn't planning on doing tattoos that day so why did she not just say "Sorry I'm not doing tattoos today, let's set you up with an appointment for later"?
The video of the tattoo artist crying gave me the ick the first time I saw it posted here, it reminded me of the time when I was a child and I hurt my younger sibling while we were playing so I cried harder and faster than he could… it was definitely that
The tattoo artist shouldve gave her ideas on hiw to move forward and fix it. Shes the professional
That artist should quit because that’s not a tattoo that’s an opened wound there’s no reason she needs to go that deep holy cow she needs a new job that’s scary
Oh no :( Seeing that tattoo breaks my heart, that does NOT look right. Definitely blown out, definitely scarred.
Tattoo influencers have made trusting your artist so difficult
That was so clearly someone who is enjoying the attention she's getting more than anything else
And as usual, I'm way more inclined to believe the person who has actual proof, and those texts + the fact she was blocked so she couldn't tell her side of the story in the comments says a lot.
She butchered the fuck out of that tat. 😢
11:01
By too deep... ugh... no, worse...
14:48
The character after the fixed Q and before the R is only fair to call a scar... that's at rather strong proof that the artist butchered that woman's arm.
Seriously. I was fully horrified when she showed it up close, that is a whole WOUND that is going to scar horribly 😢
People show up to to work upset all the time
Yall do good work and it’s appreciated - especially when many laymen lack those skills. You make homes look beautiful!
And thats why we need basic universal income. Because we cannot do our work well when upset
that's completely different, and no she should not have been tattooing if she didn't feel up to it
I said it on the previous video and I'll say it again before watching this video, it's the tattoo artist's job to ASK the client to check the spelling.
Funnily enough, when I saw the first video, her crying seemed really strange to me, even annoying. Makes sense now that I know it was crocodile tears.
The artist mutilated her, misspelling aside the client deserved a full refund for that terrible service.
