Yes
They do that multiple times throughout the entire game. Arthur teases John multiple times on his inability to swim.

Game of the century.
But by this point, we were just still upset about Arthur🥺
@@jellyslopefall572 big deal, he had time to make peace with his death. The Last Enemy that shall be Destroyed left me Devastated.
As much as it sucks and we all wish he’d of lived, Arthur kind of had to die in order to have an impact on the story of John Marston. It’s real bittersweet that you get to play as John in the end and see the interlude before rdr1, watching them have a little bit of peace and happiness before the storm, all in thanks to Arthur. Even the wedding ring John uses was either Arthur’s mother’s or what he had planned to give to Mary.
“Get the hell out of here and be a goddamn man”, and that John did until the end
It kinda won't matter you still know he's dead already 4 years later
I believe Arthur was smiling down on them and smiling knowing that his ring was used finally

At the end of this cutscene, John stares at the sunrise from the edge of his ranch, welcoming the start of his new life. While Arthur, as he went honorably, spent his time of passing watching the sunset remembering the good times he had with his gang.
nope arthur watches the sunrise aswell
Arthur dies as the sun rises and was buried to face the sun as it sets.
@@MrKingJson But wasn't it still daylight when Arthur rode back to camp to confront Micah?
@@johnp0729 it was dusk leading into night, then his horse died and he fought Micah at night and died just as the sun was rising.
he died watching the sunrise. he wanted to die facing the west where it sets to remember the gang. but since he learned most of it was a lie, he instead dies facing the rise of the sun to symbolise him looking upon the future he helped secure for John

Abigail is the only one who isn't the original I believe
Briana Durda it’s the same face but not actor.
his role as John Marston has been a part of him and became one of his iconic roles.. there's no damn way he would turn the role down!
@Briana Durda javier has a different actor to i belive
@Briana Durda no looked it up actor in rdr1 was Antonio Jaramillo and in rdr2 Gabriel Sloyer
This scene makes me really happy and sad at the same time...For once in his life John is genuinly happy and at peace, unfortunately we all know what happens years later, it's just such a joy to see him having found happiness....Overall this game...was an emotional roller coaster, I cried of sadness, I cried of joy, I laughed, I got mad, I was shocked and surprised...it really had everything.
Agree
Thinking about it John got more than anyone else in the gang ever got. By the time his story ends he has his own home, a wife and a son that he played a part in raising and he didn’t run from his end. He could have escaped with his family but he decided it would be better to die and save his family then come with them and put them in danger. On his own terms.
True. But again, before his last moments, he got to be with his family for a short while and be at peace again. And fight zombies.
I wish the events of the first game didn't happened. 😫
The whole mission felt like a chance at a happy life after all what they’ve been through, then in contrast of how Abigail smiles the after morning to Abigail slapping John’s hand away in RDR1 when he tried to caress her cheek. Then it reminded me of how John died and Abigail soon followed him before the time-skip.
“Get the Hell out of here and be a God Damned Man.”
He did Arthur. He made us all proud.
Then killed micah for revenge then rdr1 happened
2023 version: "get out of here and be a God damned nonbinary genderqueer"
He really didn’t tho.. he abandoned his wife and son to chase Micah - and thus lead the Pinkertons right to him.. John had a short lived good life - but it could’ve been longer if he and Sadie weren’t so dumb

I like how rockstar rewards the players for completing the game by letting us play as John for a final time
Well I dont like it
Fernando why not
It’s kinda weird it’s like these are the lost chapters from the first one
well I disagree All main missions playing as Arthur and end the he die and u playing as John it's bad because it's not Arthur who is protagonist it's John lol
kubla 98 They could’ve ended it with Arthur but they went the extra mile and slowly eased us into John’s story and the lead up to RDR1
It's sad, when you know what happens years latter, "what goes around, comes around".
@Blue Hazard: In the end, everyone pays.
@Blue Hazard "Sad thing is that good people do bad things"
When I finished the epilogue I almost teared up with joy. I have never fell in love with a game character like john Marston. His story was beautifully written. In the first game I actually cried in the ending *I was a kid. it's bitter sweet to go through the epilogue with knowing what will eventually happen to him. But to see him happy and living happy with his family is all I ever wanted to see and rockstar truly has gave John a goodbye that he deserves.
IKR 🤧 Arthur would be so proud of John living that life and in the end of RDR1
Well said 🙁❤
Well said. I honestly prefer John over Arthur and the very ending of RDR2 solidified John Marston as my favorite video game character of all time.
“We’ve lived a lot of lives”
“Let’s just live this one from now on”
❤️
For everybody that hated the epilogue and said they wanted arthur back...
This scene fully encapsulates Arthur.. he weren't gone.. he was there throughout.. Arthur lives through John and hell he don't talk about him much.. but he thinks about him..
The whole epilogue proves Arthur despite his efforts to the contrary...... Won.
God bless Arthur Morgan... Gaming greatest protagonist.
The epilogue is more meaningful for people who finished RDR1 before playing this one.
@@quigglyz that's so true
Truthfully I think people who hate the epilogue need to take therapy and learn to understand and comprehend their emotions. Part of the reason why Arthur’s story is so impactful is because he died in the end. If he just redeemed himself and then went on living and everything for him was great then it wouldn’t have left the same impression that it did. I’m kinda dumbfounded from how many people seem to hate the epilogue purely because Arthur died and they didn’t get to play as him anymore.
I legit cried...the weight and sacrifice that came with that ring, the way the sunset glows on Abigail's eyes as she's smiling.... perfection
As bittersweet as this ending is, it is so nice to know that John and Abigail never stopped loving each other. Such an amazing story
The subtle eye movements on abigail really sell the scene
I am not crying I am just Proud of John
Me too Mr Morgan
You’d be proud, Arthur. You’d be proud.
Arthur once told him to man up.. So he did
Did Arthur evolve into a giant pale vampire woman? Lol...

So true
Arthur was an outlaw... John was born to be a family man, despite always being in trouble
1:57 John knows that Arthur sacrificed himself for his family, so it definitely matters now... Wouldnt let Arthur's death in vain...
He did it anyway, by killing micha , arthur told him to run and don't look back , John didn't listen and killed micha , wich leads to Ross tracking him in rdr1
John: Let's live together as a family you, me and and Jack

Always thought it was funny how he goes to kiss her in her sleep and shes ok with it, but in RDR1 She swatted his hand away LMAO.
Dece Tutt i wasnt confused why, simply its funny how their marriage progresses
I think she was just sleepy and didn't want to be disturbed. My last girlfriend would do the same when I'd try to goof around with her when she was sleeping.
At least John gets to kiss the love of his life, Arthur's only kiss was with the French Artist in the whole game.

I don't know why people hated the epilogue and called it boring when it was so much better done than anything Naughty Dog has been doing for years (especially the last few games).
This scene is so well done.
I disagree with you about the Naughty Dog part but I do agree that this epilogue was well done and really needed, otherwise the ending would have been shitty with Micah alive and Arthur dead
The music. Oh, the music.
To go with the facial animation. Camera work. Particularly the one of John overlooking the prairie leaning up against the fence. So beautiful
And finally knowing what we do in RD1. It hurts too.
The fact that the music is the same as the loading wheel throughout the whole game is what gives it that true poetic magic.
Thats what we we’re working towards the whole time.
“Video games are bad and desensitize people”
Me an adult trying not to tear up*
Never thought a video game could make me cry but damn it did this was a beautiful scene
It’s so heartbreaking seeing John have all these happy moments, knowing what happens to him 4 years later
And to Abigail. She died three years after John. Way too young
I love the fact that John wears the 'original' outfit AFTER proposing to her.
Because that's sort of the moment where we finally meet the John we play as in RDR1.
If only Arthur was there to really to see this.
It’d be kinda awkward, them kissing and Arthur just sitting on the other side in silence.

@@AllEyezOnDeRozan That was long before she had Jack.
@@akashg5011 I know
One of the sweetest, and most heartbreaking scenes in games media. I can’t help but feel so sad knowing the fate of the Marston family.
In RDR1, Abigail made the comment, “It ain't the first time I had a gun to my head, John. You're forgettin' your marriage proposal.” Wonder why that wasn’t included in the epilogue, unless I just completely missed it
TrillVille Studios maybe is the unofficial one
Definitely the unofficial one. Not this one that he wanted to do it proper in front of God
Always thought that was just a roast and not in literal sense.
I think it was referncing the time agent milton kidnapped her and kept sadie hostage
You think John would really threaten Abigail to marry him? It was a roast, she roasts him A LOT in the game.
This is enough to make a grown man cry.
This scene is so beautiful. I keep coming back to it
ngl this is everything i wanted from a red dead sequel, its nice to see john happy, and i'm SO SO happy they put more emphasis on their relationship
Goosebumps every time, especially remembering 50 hours of what we’ve done playing by Arthur, it was Dan Houser’s opus magnum
This makes John’s death in the first game even sadder.
The "You serious?" From abigail always gets me
MUSIC IS SAD AND HAPPY , AND THATS BRILLIANT
In my opinion, one of the most beautiful moments in gaming history
Abigail in her head was like “should I cry rn?”
Smart that he proposed on a boat so she couldn't say no....because of the implication.
Still better than proposing in public.
Looking at the thumbnail, it's crazy how playable John looks nothing like John Marston. In the thumbnail, he almost looks like Arthur.
You’re right, he’s so much more beefy in face and body as the epilogue version. In the game. His face is gaunt, and body a lot more lean
"I didn't know it mattered to you."
One of the most beautiful things ever said in the game.
What is the background song name?
It's similar to loading screen song...
The animation and the voice acting here is the best there ever was.

I know there's probably few proposal scenes in games, but damn this is the best proposal scene in gaming history
After all the loses, all the pain, everything we as the players saw happen right in front of our eyes... this? This made it all worth it. The single greatest scene Rockstar has ever made. Beautiful. Not ashamed to admit I cried when I first saw this about two hours ago in my own first playthrough.
i cried to this on my first play through aswell
I always thought Arthur was somewhere smiling down on them in this moment thats the feeling I had when I saw this
I don't usually cry at video games but rdr2 is the one that has me bawling my eyes out
I have never felt so emotional with a proposal or wedding scene. They always have me grinning ear to ear with a proud feeling as to see them finally say it, but this proposal was different. I never felt such story and love behind a single ring. Their love was true, but that ring-all it meant and signified. It was truly beautiful
Say what you will but this is the only time a video game made me cry.
I don't think I have to say anything else.
It makes me extremely happy and sad at the same time when I saw this. Happy because they had love for each other and got officially married. Sad because it reminded me of Arthur when John pulls out the photo of Arthur and Mary together and the ring in the photo who was a present Arthur bought for Mary. It's sad to see Arthur's relationship with Mary dint work out but with John and Abigail it did. It reminded me so much of them two. Let's also not forget what Arthur did for this family, saved John multiple times, saved Jack and saved even Abigail as well. If it weren't for Arthur, this would of never had happened
Knowing the events of rdr1 made me tear up on this scene.
This part really got me in the feels 😢
The beauty in Abigail's eyes.i love red Dead
I usually don't like this kind of romance stuff in my games but godamn Red Dead does make you really care about everything
So at the end of this cutscene when he looks into the sun you can see a cowboy ride off into the sunset. Always thought this was arthur since he gives you the ring and then rides off into the sunrise knowing his job is done. Gave me goosebumps...cool thought
Edit* this cowboy doesn't appear on every cutscene
Man out there risking his life for a proposal. I salute that.
Have you guys noticed how John's voice cracks when he talks about the ring?
“This is why I hate video games, it appeals to the male fantasy”
Does anyone know what the name of the background instrumental is for this part?
The wheel - Willy jackson. Or should I say, Wheely Jackson
My bad. Its woody jackson. Willy Nelson is the singer of Cruel Cruel World
This is a game about shooting and robbing and stealing and murdering and yet this is my favorite mission in it, because
A) These two are just fucking cute
B) It is the actual conclusion of Arthur's arc, getting John to realize that he needs to care for Abigail and the kid
C) I'm somehow running low on testosterone
This mission always jamming
Regardless of what happened in rdr1 this moment is still beautiful and wholesome
Still one of the saddest stories ever.
