Red Dead Redemption 2: John Marston & Uncle Reunited (All Cutscenes)

- Uncle was born sometime before 1849 in Ohio and is one of the oldest members of the Van der Linde gang. Uncle was nine years old when both of his parents died, forcing him to move to a new city and "live on his wits" from there on out. Not exactly the most productive gang member, Uncle was a whore-monger and drunkard who was always around when the whiskey was open.
Uncle is an elderly alcoholic and reformed petty thief. Although borderline dysfunctional, Uncle resides with the Marston family and is provided with food and shelter at the family ranch in exchange for work he rarely performs. He sometimes manages to contribute, but to his chagrin, he is often viewed by John as lazy and inept. "Uncle" is a nickname, and he is of no biological relation to any of the Marstons (John qualifies this statement with "at least I sincerely hope not.").
Uncle, in his own way, can be viewed as seeking redemption from his life of petty crime by working on the Marston ranch. This parallels the decisions of John and Abigail to leave the Van der Linde gang and live a normal life.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Character & Plot Details. - Hry
Man, Uncle was lazy, but he was probably one of the smartest and intellectually honest people in the entire series. When he did make plans and helped, they were usually solid and more efficient than the others. He was also one of the few who had the balls to call out Dutch's plans and delusions early on. Even Hosea was never able to have Dutch openly question himself in front of the others as much as Uncle did. It makes me wonder how better things might have been if Uncle had contributed to the logistics of things a lot more.
He contributed more than enough when he layed down his life for the Marston's. If not for lambago he could have been more efficient and maybe survived.
@@carloz1536 I don't really think he would still survive, the 3 shots on the strange man means how many characters will die, the gun jammed on the 4th bullet, meaning Jack being spared.
@@carloz1536 if he didn't have terminal lumbago, he would have taken the entire army by himself
Uncle had a lead on a stage coach robbery during Chapter 3, but it ended up being harder than it should of been because the stage coach belonged to Leviticus Cornwall.
However, the gang ended up being paid and at least Uncle apologized.
So yes, you're right on that, Uncle is one smart-bastard.
In Shady Belle camp he also helps in cattle rustling
You know every time john marston yells or gets angry at uncle, Uncle just doesn't care. He legitametely does not care. He just likes to see john mad and likes to enjoy getting under his skin. I love him for it
I like how they have the kind of relationship where John is super annoyed with him but would probably say something like "make sure you arrive on time for the train because I dont want to leave you behind".
He doesn’t like Uncle, but he definitely loves him.
@@Spongebrain97 Yeah like even though he gets very angry and annoyed, he cares for him nonetheless.
I'm pretty sure he cares bruh he even apologized to john when john kicked him
@@Spongebrain97 Describe it perfectly. I think we've all had that relationship with someone though too. I know that's half my fucking dialogue with my sisters.
90% shit talking and saying how much we hate each other. 10% eluding to the fact you really appreciate them showing up for you thing and meaning it.
Uncle: “No, you’re stuck with me.” Lol
Pretend hes micah- one of the best rdr2 lines
Jeez 😭😭
11:29
Playing the epilogue and there just being John, Charles and Uncle out on the field, just building a house is such a mood.
That masculine urge to build a house with the homies
SUCH a mood
5:21 - The funny thing is Uncle was right. He was the one to insist on levelling the shack, _and_ getting the pre-cut house, _and_ buying the barn to raise cattle.
For all his laziness, Uncle was one of the smarter gang members. You don't get to that age living the life he did by being dumb for over 60 years
best way to describe Uncle. Brilliant but lazy
And John let him stay for it
Dutch: Insist?
Yeah…… insist.
Hearing uncle whimper in pain from the burns made me full of sad because I like that old man
Yeah, he really had cause to complain about his back then.
No one was left alive or even breathing after he was captured and tortured
Am I the only person who likes uncle
No
In the first game he just randomly came out of no where, maybe John liked him because he was like a reminder of the good times from john’s old gang days
I always loved antagonizing Uncle and see what quotes he belts out as both John Marston and as Arthur Morgan.
Everyone loves Uncle, he's a lazy man but you always want him around, he's a jolly spirit and you feel better about yourself in his company.
Ultimately he's a loyal man when it comes down to it and laid down his life willingly to protect those he cared about.
I think you can forgive a man like that, and ultimately form a bond. Everyone needs an "Uncle" in their lives.
I like Uncle as well, a true ride or die in Rdr1.
13:39 love how Charles leaves before he's forced to pick a side lol
12:30 - 13:30 Uncle's best rant ever, I only wish to be as much a smartass as him.
Uncle is amazing.
Just put me in a fucking ad
@@theworstasmrtist2388 lmaoo same
"Oh darling Abagail, I've changed, come live with me in an outhouse I wouldn't ask my worst enemy to take a shit in" is probably my favorite line from Uncle
Hahahahha
Whether he was lazy or not, uncle was a good dude. I mean, he helped John protect his home in the first game. Also, John did show that he cared about him when he rescued him from the Skinner Brothers.
*2:22** - "Well, it is you! Well, I never, I... I thought you was dead, boy, DEAD!"*
I love that Uncle line, and his accent makes this part more iconic.
The classic and beautiful “Prospector Coot” dialect. Never gets old
Uncle could be called lazy or stupid but you don’t know the joy I had when him and Charles appeared after the epilogue because I thought I wouldn’t see one member at all he brought relief and joy to me he’s fun
If you played Red Dead 1 you should know that Uncle is alive and taking care of John's ranch while he hunts Bill and Javier.
@@kannayagami6698actually that’s false the ranch is closed off if u return before u should and no one is there
@@nickbuckley4371 then where is Uncle? Everytime when John says he lost his Family, he always says Jcak and Abigail, never about uncle, the ranch is prob closed for gameplay reasons, but for story reasons, uncle prob there
I love the conversation at 27:41 between John and Uncle before they get up and go because it shows how little of a plan John had. He wants to make an honest living and he tells Uncle to do something Uncle challenges him by asking
“Well what’s there to do?”
Uncle had to be the one to give John the idea of ranching because I bet the first thing John would’ve done would be wasting time in building a Garden just to have nothing grow.
He really made sure he got home the family could thrive in
13:11 "come live with me in an outhouse"
i died here
One of the things I loved most about Uncle in the epilogue is that you do sometimes see him doing work around the ranch, proving that even at his age, you can change for the better. He never did a damn thing when he was in the gang, but it's clear that in the 8 years since he left he hasn't found anyone to sponge off, at least judging by the state of his horse and clothes. He realized how rare an opportunity he had with the gang to get away with so little work and of course, being a parasite, he latches onto John and won't let go. When Abigail threatens to kick him out, it finally hits him that he has to do at least some work if he wants to keep his sweet deal at Beecher's Hope. Of course, he's still Uncle, so he whines and wisecracks all the while, but he does something at least without someone kicking him or hitting him with brooms the whole time.
And you even see him bending over to milk cows while saying he wishes he could get the cow to pull beer instead of milk and doesn't once complain about his *LUMBAGO.*
Okay you got me with the last line lmaooooo
28:32 "Cows I've seen enough cows." (Has one cow in the barn after it's built.)
12:40 to 13:40 was the greatest roast I've ever seen. Uncle hit the nail.
"I've had better nightmares than your dream home!" 😂
That scene where they were building John's house. I like to think there is no other soul more rested than Arthur's watching over them. He did won. All the people he cared for survived and lived the life they wanted.
until...
All them who fell probably looked down and were so proud of John
Uncle is like that one friend who you don't like his lifestyle choices but is someone you want around for some reason. Knowing that he's there feels comforting.
Definitely one of the best members of the camp
i like how sadie, charles, and john can kill micah's whole gang, while an entire army of pinkertons cant kill dutch's gang, with only a few deaths here and there lol
The ridiculously over-the-top battles make for good gameplay, but it does take some believability out of the story. Especially when losing is scripted like in Fortunate Son or The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed.
@@Rubyofthedead yeah it takes from the realism. 2 guys can shoot up an entire city, or 3-4 people an entire police unit.
@@JAKE-ng8yr payday 2 scruffle*
They end up killing eachother for the most part
11:29 Pretend he is Micah : D
4:43 Just put uncle on the hill looking over he'll be there eventually
"JOHH, boy I thought you were *looks at camera* RED DEAD"
*sitcom laugh track*
"Dang it uncle. I've told you, I've gone straight. If anything I've achieved- *Looks at camera* Redemption."
I love the John and Uncle bickering moments.
Also the pre-cut salesman, I hate to say it but he sounds like Hosea.
You know the difference between a good salesperson and a con artist?
Very, very little.
Uncle forces John to let him stay and then complains about everyone sleeping in a double outhouse lol
i thought uncle was fucking hilarious, the full lumbago thing had me in stitches
Am I the only one who thinks it weird that John makes up names for everyone exept the bank? Like if he still used false names to hide from the Goverment/Pinkertons why would you give your real name to the bank
Banks don’t fool around
Back then, banks couldn’t care less about serving the public trust and upholding the law. As long as you weren’t robbing them at gunpoint, they’d service you. You could be a wanted murderer, but if you have the cash to pay off a large loan in the future, they’d give it to you within seconds.
It’s because Mr Geddy knew that John was using a fake name.. he got in touch with the Bank man who was one of his family members, and told him about it..so he had to use his real name
Back then they didn’t have that kind of technology to be able to track you down
I love uncle and John’s relationship 😭
There was no better person for John to run into during this time of his life than Uncle
3:07 *hAvE a LiTtLe PiTy WiLl Ya?*
*L U M B A G O*
*_H U h ?_*
"So... you think I'm an idiot?"
"No... I KNOW you're an idiot..."
When you realize that John is actually completely lost without Uncles annoying companionship 😂
When John and Uncle were having a conversation about the barn I was dying 🤣😂
"Building a barn will take us six months to make"
"You don't build a barn dumbass!
What is this 1785?"
😂🤣😭😂😂
I love how excited Charles was to see John and Uncle
22:46 I like to think this is Arthur's spirit watching them as a bird.
Was anyone else extremely outraged when the Skinners kidnapped Uncle and began torturing him?
I have never enjoyed killing a gang as much as the skinners after what they did
Yeah, those burns only made his lumbago worse.
no
Dude after 6 years uncle is still bad@ss as he roasted john
Uncle: "I've got lumbago, I can't -"
Everyone: 6:34
Uncle might have been lazy but he stuck with John until the very end
"I'm real sick John, L U M B A G O"
- Uncle, 1911
*1907*
Dutch’s gang got so toxic that even uncle left low key!! Uncle was like a canary if he died or left it’s time to leave too
6:34: Right in the Lumbago!
Uncle is the camp punching bag but not only does he enjoy it but actively provokes everyone 😂
Rockstar really made this game look absolutely amazing.
It always saddens when John hardly shows Uncle any gratitude when it's his very idea and the sole reason why he got an actual home,a barn and not to mention he got his family back.
If it weren't for him,John would be living in his shitty shack and i highly doubt his wife would visit it.
He maybe lazy but man he's actually smart at what he really does,it's just he's always put at something he's bad at i.e labor when he could have be used for something he's actually good at.i.e getting actual good ideas.
He definitely is grateful but that doesn’t mean he’s gonna give Uncke a free pass, Uncle forced himself in the ranch so John is having him earn his keep, that’s completely fair and meanwhile Uncle throws out ideas but doesn’t actually contribute to the physical labor of fulfilling it. That being said John still gives Uncle his credit saying he’s useful in his own way
11:30 pretend he’s micah💀
John sounds like he does in RDR 1 when talking to Micah at the end. Confident and over this shit. I love it
"You know speaking in monosyllables don't make you seem interesting, it makes you seem stupid."
Where have we heard that before?
John with a beard just doesn’t work
This, I always went to the barber to give him his rdr1 facial hair when it got too long. Needed to give him his correct look in the epilogue leading into the original game.
@@Deathkill06 but rdr1 takes place 8 in game years after why would he have that look
I just gave him a clean shave. He looks much better.
I tried to make it look like rdr1 I attempted it the hairstyle the beard and I wish he could slim off some weight
Uncle be roasting John like a master hahahah
35:37 John became uncle
Charles always helping, he’s a real one
47:33 well jack literally said at 4 he wanted to be a gunslinger so I wouldn't be surprised if John still remembered that
I am so happy that uncle will live with john. Imean its good to have a gang member near or living in players house. The best thing about epilog.
11:30 Best line
John: I hate old man, I’m going to kill you.
AlsoJohn: kills entire camp of scalp hunters, to save Uncle.
12:42 this moment 😂
Without Uncles guidance John wouldn't have been able to get his Farm up and running.
He may be lazy but he isn't as stupid as you think. Abigail should have thanked Uncle for setting John straight
Damn you lazy lumbago bastard, I love you! Better edit to say "we" love ya!
I came back to watch this after years just to enjoy it
21:18 here we go
Man there always have been these asmr ass sounds in RDR2 that never get old 🥴
John always gets saddled up with everyone’s favorite little leech
The ironic thing about Micah and Ross's death's. Both of them died because they both pushed a matter too far and it resulted in vengeance being brought upon them later.
(This is assuming that the high honor, escape with John is the canon ending.)
Micah could've went for the money and escaped with Dutch, but he had to go back and attempt to kill Arthur for Arthur revealing that he's the rat and Arthur's disrespect towards him in his eye's. If he didn't go back to kill Arthur, John would've never gone back to kill Micah, years later.
Ross got everything he wanted. Williamson dead, Escuella dead, Dutch dead. He had no further need to kill John, he could've just stopped with Dutch and moved on and nothing would've have happened later. But, he decided John needed to die as well and went to have John killed personally. If he dropped it with Dutch and left John alone, Jack would've never gone after him. Both are instances of greed getting the best of them and they have to suffer for their consequences later when they think they are safe. Micah hiding with Dutch and Ross retiring and enjoying duck hunting.
Great prequel. Now we just need a sequel with Jack
Sorry but I disagree
I don’t think there’s anything interesting in that time-period to make a game on, unless you want another world war game.
A sequel would be completely pointless. Especially since he Wild West wouldn’t exist anymore
I got so sad seeing when Sadie showed up. look at how happy John was w the family he made. he had Abigail, Jack, Uncle, Charles & Sadie & was so proud. fuck Edgar Ross.
Uncle’s constant roasts either secretly impart a form of wisdom or blatant truths on the person he directs them at.
1:04
God this scene is so damn satisfying
To be completely honest, Uncle reminds me of my one cousin (I won't say his name for identity purposes): he's generally lazy and can stand to do more in life (but can be very reliable if the situation calls for it).
All in all, Uncle reminds me so much of my cousin that it's ridiculous (and no he doesn't complain about his lumbago).
It be cool if he had terminal l u m b a g o
45:45 Notice. That’s when John realized that him and Abigail weren’t actually married.
At least the banker gave John the chance to back out.
6:34 get up
Lmao 😂😂😂😂
I was like it’s funny lumbago man when I saw him again in my first play through
Red Harlow went from being a bounty hunter to an old man with lumbago that’s an expert at roasting John lmao
LUMBAGO
“I will use what i have which is a brain , and you use what you have which is less of a bran”😂😂😂
11:30 pretend his Micah 😂
Pretend its Micah
Instantly stops beating him
I need that guitar ambience in the background, its beautiful
This one?

47:36 And jack did became a gunslinger like John
34:08 my favorite part.
You know? Charles kinda remind me to connor kenway in ac 3
yesssssss
One of the best things about uncle is his funny. I don't know how his in Red Dead Redemption. I know about him from Red Dead Redemption 2 on my PS4 Pro.
Holy shit. Lumbago was foreshadowing for the skinner brothers scene
Man I loved the epilogue
2:26 *I thought you was dead boy! Dead!*
John really did not want to meet Uncle at all
28:40 uncle destroy john marston lol
He is some sort of Diogenes.
After uncle was captured none of em was left breathing
" John, The Rock farmer. "
- Uncle to John marston. Beechers hope
21:18 for ppl who want it 😂
Yall realize epilogue takes place after 11 years... wth was uncle doing in that 11 years.......... how has no one really think about this he might be "lazy" but he still alive and looks like he doing well... he must have done something within those 11 years. After all he is the 1 shot kid 😂
Uncle. The legend of lumbago.
Is it bad that I watch the whole thing without skipping at 5am
And then they all lived on the ranch and thats the end of the story
“What is this 1785?”
Lol gets me every time
Pretend its micah😂
" working hard ? " 🤣🤣🤣🤣
