Really GREAT tutorial! You even explained how the TV camera works and why it goes black. That drove me nuts for a while. You gave me a good understanding of the sequence needed to fire a maverick as well as an understanding of how the system works.
Bro, this was one of the best tutorials that I have seen!!! I really liked how you prefaced the video with the titles of the keys. Very well done thank you!
Hi smudge, not sure if you are aware but on the armaments panel to the far right there is an IR cool switch, I have been flipping that and then when I have gone to select mavericks they have been ready to use straight away. just thought I would let you know.
could just be a bug at the moment, cool time could be the same as I have not been keeping an eye on it as when I noticed it I used other weapons first and when I selected mavericks to set up for an attack they was good to go straight away and that was the first time I had selected them that flight.
DVDF Merlin do you have a axis bound to TDC slew? There is still a bug that is a axis is bound it stops working, if you just use buttons it should be fine
The Seeker head has to have something to lock on to, if your slightly off target, or possibly out of range it won't lock... also make sure you are nose on target
I'm with my nose on target when in tv mode and slew to have that box near target to get a lock on it. after that when I press fwd sensor and get into Maverick I struggle to get a lock to fire.
Antoine Thisdale the way I have it is the Castle switch on the stick is Sensor up down left and right, the finger button to the front of the stick is Down. The hat to the left of the castle switch I have as TDC up down left and right, on the Slew control on the throttle (little nipple) it presses down/clicks in, I have that as TDC action
That's a good idea. I was thinking the same thing about the Master Mode button with the index finger for "Down". I haven't really tried Mavericks yet, but its next on my list.
I simply use the stick thumb knob, for forward, aft, left, right and down ! And I put my sensor on the throttle thumb hat for aft, left, right and down

Happy I could be of service :-)

Deez Nutz glad I could help 🙂
Had to give you an extra thumbs up because at the last minute you mention how to undesignated a target with the n/w switch. I was stuck there. 😋👍
Thanks for the tutorial dude.
Thanks for this and subscribed! Notice this was a year ago, do you still fly the harrier?
Scott Winterberg yeah still fly it regular, maybe not as much as the F18, but yeah still stay current on it

Tr00p3r that is strange, as the IR Cool switch is for use with the Aim9 and AGM122 Sidearm
Tr00p3r I’ll play about with that tonight, see if it works 🙂

Hello
Always great and informative videos .
Any plans for tutorials on all the weaponry of the harrier and/or other planes?
Thanks
PAUL BREITNER check out RedKites channel he has way better tutorials than I could ever produce, he’s covered nearly every aspect of the Av8
504smudge thanks, will do
My TV and HUD only show up in green nvg not flir. How do I fix this?
Jeremy Boney that’s actually how it should be, it was changed in the last update
Thanks for the tutorial, but for the life of me once I uncage the Mav I cannot get it to slew no matter what key I bind.

Ah yes I had an axis bound on my HOTAS. Good to know many thanks.
DVDF Merlin happy I could help 🙂
nothing happens when I press tdc action. I did just like you and when it comes to Maverick lock in do not work
Rareş Bîrzu try moving the mav sealer head about with the TDC keys, I’ve found sometimes that helps
yes, I tried this and work but not everytime. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

it usually lock the target automatically but not always
mapping those "aft" & "down" keys are a pain on the Warthog... :(

i have the exact same setup, works really well
