WT - How to fly the "Stalincane" in Arcade, Patch 1.55

- The premium Russian Lend-Lease Hurricane IIb is rarely seen in the skies of War Thunder, which I find it odd as its a reasonably priced & battle-rated tier 2 premium. As usual I put it through its paces & show what the plane's capable of, and also draw parallels with the British Hurricane IIb.
By the way, I didn't include Takeoff flaps in my test flight - to see how they compare to Raised flaps in a turn, take a look here: • Video

You mentioned that pilots don't regard a high altitude hurricane as a threat, but instead as an easy kill. I'm personally scared of anything that decides to fly that high
(I'm paranoid of everything that could be a threat in the long run, and this usually leads to overestimating my enemies and missing out on kills; I would even say that I do better in unupgraded planes because I have to deal with problems and opportunities as they come and not being able to climb above the enemies, which I would normally consider as a sign of a failed game, but actually isn't so bad) .
Any plane that gains altitude superiority, even if its BR is 3.0 below everything else in the match, can do well exploiting stall fighting. Although some would disagree, I find the 7.7 BMGs with tracers to be quite deadly even at 600+meters range. Having cannons makes it even more deadly.
But then again, in a 1v1 situation I don't view Canes as a threat as long as I'm in a competitive plane(any 109, mig3, spacefire, etc). Just climb away until you get above it. At one point I felt the need to experiment with the CR42, which I view as the best biplane in the game, and found it can spiral climb around a hurricane and stall it out, but that's possibly because the enemy pilots had no idea how to fly. In conclusion... Canes are deadly if you underestimate them.
I read somewhere that the Russians didn't like the Hurricanes they got from the Brits as part of Lend Lease; something about them behaving poorly in the extreme cold of the region. Of course, "didn't like them" isn't the same thing as "didn't use them" and considering how willing the VVS was to throw stuff like P-40s at 109Gs, I'm betting that if it had two wings, an engine and some guns they would send it into combat with a patriotic salute.
And thanks for the constant reminders on the benefits of keeping an eye on the ammo counter and reloading frequently, they have built up into habit for me over time. Also, I can totally understand feeling like all the kills are getting nabbed before you can reach them, but I swear I was just trying to cover you! =)
And yes I do describe a J2M2 and I-185 as "two Russian planes". I think I need more sleep ... or more coffee.
+long5hot Hey there lon5shot, Would you perhaps be intrested in Realistic Battle replays? I've got a rather excellent and incredibly tense gameplay clip of a 7 minute dogfight against a P-47D aswell as a XP-55 while flying my Bf 109 F-4, Both opponents were extremely skilled pilots, and I'd say that in my nearly three years of playing War Thunder, this might've been the most entertaining fight I've ever had the fortune of taking part in. Anyways, don't go too hard on the coffee though :P

Motoxbluedog, surprised to see myself flying against the great "Long5hot" even though I didn't know it at the time. Noted your comments and I do need to work on those turns, but guess who taught me the advantage of height in arcade and energy fighting. Almost came back to bite you. Now I need to get on Magztv and I've got it all covered. Thanks for all the time and energy that goes into these vid's.

I picked this plane up back when we had that convo. about premiums. Very good plane. Nice work fur balling it. It can be very fun in planes like this. Great firepower and good maneuvering.

ahh fantastic that you would post this, I had completely forgotten I bought this plane. I've been busy abusing my British premium lineup. both boomerangs, the D520, and the mk1 Mustang. so much fun for 3.7 lineup even uptiered them a bit.
how high of an uptier do you think you could get away with? the 112A/0 uptier was impressive, could you see something similar out of the "Stalincane"?

Well of course they are no comparison to two hispanos but you can fire all the time without running out of ammo and because of the huge mass of bullets who hit the target i often get wingrips, pilotsnipes and fires
With an excellent turningability and speed you can kill newbies so easily

+Tyler C For grinding purposes, no. If you enjoy flying decent turners with powerful weapons, yes.
+long5hot: Where can you find out, what the best climbing speed for a particular plain is?
+Fabian The simplest way, though it involves a bit of time, is to fire up a custom battle vs robots, choose a speed to climb at & see how far you get in 2 WEPs. Then J out, spawn in again, do the same at another speed ... and so on until you find the best climb speed. The other way involves using a browser to show the data WT produces, particular the Vn parameter, but that's more complex and probably takes about the same time.
Oh, what a great idea! So basically I scan the memory of WT for the vertical speed value. If that particular value doesn't exist, you could scan for the ALT and feed the value to some (self-made) app that calculates the delta. Sounds fun.
Still a lot of work to do the testings for multiple planes. You seem to have values for a lot of planes already. Would you be willing to share your information with us in some spreadsheet?
+Fabian I don't have them in a spreadsheet - I only measure values when I decide to prepare a video on a plane, and then its recorded in the vid once I've finished.

+Marco Lammen The RB flight models are the "real" flight models, with Gaijin's developers trying to make the plane fly as close to its historical performance as possible. For Arcade, they apply a mathematical algorithm to the RB flight model, boosting the lift from the wings, the authority of the control surfaces and the power of the engine.
+long5hot ty so it does make a difference in arcade if your turning with a Spitfire or with a fw190 ;) so the planes fly like the real planes in a light version. I read alot on forums all arcade planes fly the same bla bla. Im glad it Is not true
