- Part 2 of the suspension for my 55 Chevy Gasser. I had the control arms sandblasted then re-painted. Once they were dry I installed all new bushings and ball joints. Compressing the big block springs was little nerve racking but it all worked out in the end. Should be good for years to come.

All day today, every time I open a video it opens as a small banner so I double click to make it open and I get DD Speed Shop videos.
Enjoyable watch! Glad you didn’t kill yourself putting those big springs in! That method was ingenious of you.
Maybe its time for tubular A arms for the 55 👌
Everyone wants to be a mechanic when its shown on TV " oh that's easy! Versus really doing it 50 cuss words later and finding a bfh" yeah keep up the good work
You got a lot done! Cool new tool as well. 👍
You are definitely going the extra mile and that will all look great when the car is done and you flip up that hood.
GREAT VIDEO!! THANKS!! .....GOOD TO SEE THIS CAR COMING BACK TO LIFE!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Yep..awesome self taught metal man and having fun doing it..thanks
Rock on! thanks for watching
Looks great man!
Thanks I really appreciate the support!
When I had my 57 I installed station wagon coil springs for the front
Looking good
Great job
The A-arms look good
I’ve always wanted a 55. My wife has a 55 Chevy truck. But we have a 57 four door.
Nice! I picked up a 57 belair to work on next. Thanks for the support man!
Glad 2 c u making a gasser & keeping a-frame front end. Really enjoying it. It's gonna run 8's...
Haha thanks man.
I just liked/subscribed and wanted to say the car is looking great. I hope to start on my 55 Bel-Air 2dr sedan soon. It's an early 70s build but has been abused and further modified over the years. It has a 69 Nova 396 SS front clip and rear end with a 454 and 400TH trans. I'm going to build it as a period 70s era street rod but I'm sure everyone will call it a gasser. LOL!
Haha that sounds awesome man! Thanks for the support!
I have been watching all of your build videos. I would like to say you have done a great job and made a lot of progress. I think you have made this car what will be a treasure to own and drive. The hard work will definitely pay off .
I herd you mention a big block in the future , you may want to move the engine mounts forward and the brake booster may need to be swapped for one with a smaller diameter, I had to run a 8 inch diameter booster to clear the valve covers on a big block .
Great work ,I enjoy your videos .
Thanks for the tip! Once I cram the motor in I'm sure I'll have a few issues. But that's the fun part right?
@@DDSpeedShop ** You are right . Working out all of the little problems along the way is what real Hot Rodders do. ( Make it work- Make it safe ) drive on !!
Looks really good man
Thanks man!
@@DDSpeedShop your welome man
How did you put the bump stops in the upper control arm doing that?
badass 🤘🤘☠️🤘
Thanks man!
I thought gassers had a straight axle ?.......your work looks good.
Not all of them did. I really just want the look but still have it nice to drive on the street.
what frame paint did you use? it looks great
It was kbs metal sealer. I talk about it in the last video. Hope it helps
Hi i have the same car you have with a fiberglass hood my problem is i bought it this way someone welded two gate hings on top of the frame to hold the tilt fiberglass hood now i cant put the front bumper can you show me pictures of what you did for you on the hood
I actually haven't attached my front end to the car yet. I'm sure I'll make some sort of bracket that is removable so I can take the clip off easily.
Where are the ball joint spacers ?
You need them to raise the front end ( if it's a gasser )
You don't need disc brakes. You're supposed to be scared in a gasser !
I got a set not sure if I'm gunna use em. Drives nice as is.
Why did you not go with the straight axle?
Just wanted to keep it a daily driver.
Good stuff man. I saw your IG post. Check out the '55 Gasser feature I just posted up. You'll dig it!!
Awesome. I will!
