- It's finally time! After months of work I finally got to drive my car. It was only a 10 minute drive but it was very satisfying. I still have lots of small things to tackle but I have a running driving 55 Chevy. Lots more to come on this car. Stay tuned!

There's nothing quite like taking a car you built from the ground up out for its first drive. Congratulations!
I'M HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS ALL THE HARD WORK PAYS OFF, I HAVE A 72 NOVA , I'VE HAD SINCE 82 , I WAS 16 WHEN I GOT IT AND I'M 54 NOW !! HARD TO BELIEVE, I ALSO HAD A 70 CHEVELLE SAME COLOR AS YOURS, I'VE HAD A LOT OF OLD CHEVROLETS 54, 210 FROM TENN. A 62 BISCAYNE A 64 PICK UP SHORT STEP SIDE, FROM TEXAS WISH I WOULD KEPT ALL THEM, THE NOVA I'M FINISHING FINALLY, 3 WIVES AND 3 CHILDREN LATER, I REALLY HAVE ENJOYED THE CHANNEL, YOUR AMERICAN GEAR HEAD FRIEND- DAVID PALMATIER , KEEP ON WRENCHING
So cool to see a guy your age working on an older car. Or even working on a car at all. Some how the younger guys dont like gettin dirty anymore.
When I was a kid in the 70s I remember gasser's being kinda sorta common. You'd see them around a lot more than you would today. Every once in a while a local used car dealer would have one for sale and I'd beg my mom to buy it.
No shitty rattles and it looks tight. You may take a bow as your the man to go to when you need it done right. Real proud of you!!!
I know that if i was your dad Id be proud as hell and id be sharing this video with all my friends and family.
What impressed me the most is to see you set all your short and long term goals, (life's lessons 101). And you can apply that skill set to any task you set your sights on for the rest of your life. The most important thing about that is that you accomplished them all and to the best of your abilities with what little you had to work with. That my friend is true hot rodding, I along with many of your followers who are also like you want to congratulate you on a job well done, even though there is more to do, your have the end of the tunnel in sight.
oh and if i was one of your neighbors your car would of been done sooner cause me and my dad would be helping, My build took 10-years so 10 months aint bad at all.
haha thanks man! I keep hoping for a new neighbor to move in thats into hot rods
Very well said.
You and resto dan out of Texas are my tops. I am in California building a 55 low budget build cheap and strong i go out here at the pomona car swap looking for cheep deals .
Awesome thanks so much!
Awesome, great to see it out driving around! 👍🏻
I notice the dash decorative front alum.is 1956 by the rectangular pattern. The 55 had bow ties instead of rectangles. My Dad had a 55 150 series with no radio, lighter etc. He took all the plastic indicators, trim, radio halves from a donor 4 door and brought it up a notch. That was in 66.It didn't have chrome around windows or anywhere on sides except handles and locks.Pale blue ,white top.235, 3 on tree.Bulk oil drinker.☺
yeah it came with 56 trim. I've got my eyes open for 55 trim, i love the bow ties
One of the coolest cars on the road. Excellent work !
Awesome dude. You're hard work is paying off. My hats off to you bro. 👊✌
Awesome man, that is great to see. I am wishing I had one of those cars. Keep it up and it was great seeing this come together to the first drive around town.

Looks like a lot of fun . I have several old cars I'm working on. The first drives are the best !

Success!!! 👍 That's got to be the best feeling! 👍
I enjoy your videos!
I love these older muscle car!
you made a comment something about hating wiring and you saved it for last!
what you need is a power Probe 4 and it will change your outlook on wiring once you learn what it does! I just turned 61 and bought a power Probe 4 just so I could test things for myself, and they're even wonderful on newer cars! You can watch a few videos online and learn a little bit about them. I haven't found any videos that are the best at describing how to use it but the manual that comes with it is extremely well-written. And you can even download a pdf file format of the manual. So you can carry the manual on your cell phone and have access to it at any time or place!
When I see you on your first drive after buildin' up an old automobile from scratch I can't help thinking how that'll give you a set of emotions that'll stay with ya. Those satisfactions are permanent. Know what I mean?
Was this a 4 door post car wiring sucks you done well they all look the same to me good job getting it all working
I’ would use a bunch of d
Love this bro!
LOVE THAT SCOOP!!!
Nice to see it running down the road. Another great video 👍
thanks!
Cool 55. All that hard work paid off, good job.
thanks!
I love the way she looks with those chrome smoothies in the back.
your badass mechanic 🧰
I watched this video thru an X-box 360 to a 60" flat screen TV, the audio runs thru an old Layfayette LR 120 db receiver. It does 120 Watts/ channel 240 Watts peak.
I only had it at 5 Watts, MAN ALIVE once you started it up and were driving things were rattling on my shelves!!!
Car sounds GREAT!!!!
I felt like I was right there in the car with ya!!!!
Looks great man
2 lane black top! Love it.

Sure is nice to see light at the end of the tunnel. Well done.

Nice ride I just bought one been looking for 4 years
great video - nice length and pacing (family friendly too++). brings back so many memories. dad and I built my dbLnkL (55) over 30 years ago for my 1st car. still drive it! Best opinion - drive em while u work on em. Have fun. kind regards
Awesome thanks! wicked that you still have your first car!
Hey, glad to see you finally get to drive it. Great video too! I also caught your buddies comment about the jets when it stumbled. Probably is jetted a little lean, but I still thought it was hilarious, great reference to "Two lane". I caught it right off, Dennis Wilson was constantly changing the jets to compensate for altitude while going across the U.S. Makes your car seem even more legit.
'
haha yeah it's had no tuning and needs a little love
Wonderful success!
SWEET!!! THIS IS GOIN TO TAKE A WHILE TO CATCH UP ON ALL UR VIDIOS BRO BUT WERE LOVIN IT, GOT MY BROTHER AND A FEW FRIENDS CHECKIN OUT THE CHANNEL TOO...YOUR WIFE IS A SWEETHART MAN!!!!
That's a real sweet car!
nice! I bought a complete '55 gasser with tilt frontend less eng/trans for $135 in about '78, those were the days
Wow I spent more than that on 1 patch panel.....
Wish i would have found your channel long time ago so cool to watch ..
Thanks!
"Get temporary insurance to drive it around the block." Ha ha ha!
That's one beautiful 55:)
Engine sounds Good! Good job on your maiden voyage!
thanks!
Beautiful car.
What made me laugh was the comment "Legit Insurance" "Legit Cruise" get it safetied make it a "Legit Car" lol that gave me a chuckle
Looks like he built a really cruiser that is all. Sounds real good, in the driveway!
Nice job!!!! Dam i know how hard it is to stay motivaded but you did it sir. Hats off...
Yeah it goes in waves. Going for a ride in my buddies car was the push I needed
That is a cool car!
My friend that is one bad 55. Great job on your build. 💪
thanks man!
DD Speed Shop np brother be safe
Way to be. Glad you brought it back from the dead.
OK man, I'm back! After the LS experiment I sorta defected, but you drew me back in with THIS one! You didn't go far describing the motor, but at least it's a BB. Now see what kind of dealing you can do to put together a 540 or so. That would REALLY be interesting in that 55.
id love that but its a little out of my price range haha
Awesome job!! I’m jealous!! Helps motivate me though!!
awesome! glad to help!
Congratulations. Cool to take a ride with your Dad.
Thanks!
Really, how many entitled brats would do this today?
Yea its def the jets man hahahahaha sounds great dude !
Really cool happy for You! Thanks for the ride! Looks like you found the gas door? I never did find that driver side stainless trim piece I put up. Had to buy a new one. Lol
I was surprised as well at how tight and quite. The post cars are. Once you get all the trim and seals on. Yep the trunk seal was fun for me as well. After the seals set awhile things will fit better. If you really get the old OCD going. lots of Fatmat and insulation and it feels almost like a new one.
Having your dad with you was pretty cool too! 👍
haha I don't have much OCD. All the new rubber was nice. Could tweaks here and there should make it a nice cruiser
That is awesome my brother. So fukin happy for you. You did such a great job sticking with it. Can't wait for 57. Good day Aye
Thanks man! The projects never stop
@@DDSpeedShop yep for sure
Very cool 55'
Subscribed bud! Awesome video
DD spéed shop. Love the vids..i just bought a 55 4dr for 500 full of extra parts . I need a few floor rocker peices and 2dr conversion parts..id trade all the extra parts I have for what I need. I have grill bumper hood stainless ect..i posted a vid junk in her Trunk..thanks for awesome ideas. My dream car.that a piece of a 58-63 vette came with also.lol
AWESOME!!!
Good content, that’s one mean car, that motor
thanks buddy!
Nothing like driving it for the first time.
Yeah it was a good feeling
Awesome getting there be great when you can drive it around properly 🤪😀😀👍🏾✌
Yeah Finally! haha
Great, it's look good all in a two Car garage.
Congratulation on your first drive. The 55 has come along way and is looking great. Are you going to put a front bumper on it or a nerf bar (I would go for a bar)? I wouldn't adjust the doors and rear lid until the seals set in for a little while, as when they setup they will change a little (mine did). Enjoy it as you deserve it after all the work you did. Later
The 55 does look 2 lane blacktop, dead on!
yeah that was the plan, thanks buddy!
Yeah, Down South we can't find much of anything of that vintage w/out it being a rust bucket. Wish I could afford one of those Bohannon fiberglass 55s, I checked them out on the interweb, got to itching just looking at the prep work!
I saw the comment from Eddy?, he just needs to dive in and get w/it, just saying. NOT SCOLDING!
It doesn’t matter what year or make, GASSERS RULE. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Call it what you will.
You're absolutely right. My Hyundai accent gasser gets all the chicks!
That looks like St. James? Great work.
Really happy for you grew up riding in those 55 56 57 and 58 needs a bigger cam looks bad ass make it lope a little more. but great job,but you have another engine anyway....😁😁😁
Thanks man! Kinda nice having a stock motor to cruise around in and work out the kinks
that is real talent
thanks man
Full respect. Well done! Jealous!!
thanks!
Lets get the slicks out of the trunk and do some drag racing
to scuff up the primer to look weathered use wood stove ash it will make the prmer look well aged and not remove any paint
Didn’t know Dave Mustaine was into vintage drag cars? J/K ... nice car man !
haha
You could use a 56 temp gauge. 56 was first yr for electric temp gauge and it bolts rite up.😀
good to know! thanks
Kool!
Now all you need is a fiberglass pull off trunk lid and the gas cap relocated to the trunk. A bigger cam and a 4 speed and whahlah! Two lane black top 55 clone. lol
Such a young Dan! 😅
