The Sig's weight is a non factor. What the weight gives you is reduced muzzle rise which translates to greater accuracy and precision. The sig will also fit your hand better without the pinky having to hang off. I have both and the Sig is hands down the better of the two guns. Both are extremely reliable and absolute great guns. If price is an issue, go with the Glock. If you want the best gun, go with the Sig.
I carried both as an LEO. I preferred the SIG P239 BY FAR! BOTH are readily concealable, reliable, and accurate. For ME, the P239 felt MUCH better in my hand and was more shootable.
I've owned both and I'll tell you unless you have baby hands I never liked the stubby grip on the Glock. There is just not enough meat to grab onto. The Glock feels like it wants to jump out of your hand. In a high pressure situation you are more likely to fumble it right out of your hands. The Sig for me is like a Glove! It's slim and sleek and by the way feels a lot better when concealing than the wider boxier Glock. The video said there's not a big difference in width but believe me there is a huge difference when it's next to your body. I sold my Glock, keeping my Sig. Hope this helps.
The blessing is the increased follow up shot accuracy of P239 in 9mm over Glock. The curse is heavier carry piece. However, that's easily dealt w/ via good holster, like N82 Tactical Holster that I use for mine. Light does not always mean better, as a matter of fact it ALWAYS means less accurate follow up shots, & more felt recoil. Also, for follow up shot accuracy longer grip helps there too. Weight & Height increases are justified as both improve follow up shot accuracy over the Glock in 9mm.
I've CCW'd both as an LEO. One thing few folks talk about is 'grip acquisition'. If you must adjust your firing grip during or after drawing your firearm, especially in an 'OS!' scenario, something's wrong. For me, SIG's excellent little P239 has superior handling characteristics.
Found a brand new P239 9 mm December 2022. Very happy with it. Without realizing it, I have started a Sig collection. The 239 is an accurate gun. The only regret is that it is not large capacity 9mm. I bought it because it’s a good gun. Anyway, I live in California and mags are limited to 10 rounds. So I’m glad I found a new 239 that was only test fired at the factory. Put a Crimson Trace grip along with a Vedder carbon fiber IWB holster and I’m good to go! If I lived out side of California, I probably would have bought a handgun with more round capacity. I have G21 45ACP, SP2022 9 mm, P229R Enhanced Elite w/Pro Cut Slide, P239, P238 .380, FN 5.7. My favorite is the P239. Just something about the size, the feel and trigger.
Great comparison video. I own both the G27 GEN4 and a P239. I find myself carrying the G27 more IWB and P239 OWB (5'6" 158 lbs). Both are very reliable, can't go wrong with either. Just carry the gun that you can shoot well, is reliable, and that you can deploy efficienly from concealment while under stress.
I swear by the P239. I carry it everyday in an AKJ Concealco holster and even my girlfriend didn't know that I carried until I told her (about our fifth date). The key thing is I just shoot it better. Nothing against Glocks, but they just never agreed with me.
Hi,... Thanks nice video!.... My 9mm p239 has a very long take up in single action,...right at 3/8". Is this normal for this pistol.? It feels very strange to me. Thanks...
is that a pre 98 glock? how'd you get your hands on that? i want to carry a 30 or 36 and i've been hearing mixed things about if theyre compliant or not. So far only one guy can get them for me (gen 3 or 4) but im skeptical of getting it!
If you think the Sig P239 is a great firearm, take hold of a W German Sig that’s an awesomely built firearm! Puts any Gluck to shame. aka, my 1988 P225, just love this firearm! I’ve been carrying the P239 in 9mm for around 10 years now, appendix, so the da/sa action is my added safety feature when being carried. This setup just works the best for me!
@jordub that dosen't make you a noob....it's always a good idea to go with what you find fits best. I'm a GLock noob, but recently have been taken by a smith and wesson M&P, although it took a bit of gunsmithing to get there.
I own both, in 9mm. Other than capacity, I don't see any advantage to either weapon. If I'm traveling in an area that has people like Nancy Pelosi in it, I carry the Glock since it will be easier (cheaper) to replace if it is confiscated for some reason. I shoot no less than bi-weekly so I'm up to snuff with the P239's ergonomics and whatever else I take to the range. Cost of replacement in case of seizure is the only concern. Function, reliability, seem pretty much equal to me, although I can rebuild a Glock in a few hours, while I let my local GS take care of my Sigs. I carried Sig on duty for the last nine years of my career. The agency has since switched to Glock as the issue weapon. That move was purely a matter of economics. Low Bid in other words. Not quality of brand, because the people who made the decision wouldn't know a Colt from a Makita.
If you did not buy it already, consider the 27 also. Same gun for the most part as the 27 in a 40, but you can get the conversion barrel to 9mm. 150 bucks more a couple mags and you have two guns the 26 and 27. I have not seen a single review that has not been 100 percent flawless with the 9mm conversion barrel by lone wolf. Get a gen 4 also unless you have big hands. The grip is one back strap smaller than any other gen. Hope this helps in your choice.
Good video thanks for posting. Both pistols are well made and solid firearms. I know a couple of former operators (SEALS). Both like the Glock 17, (or G19) and the Sig 226. They carried the issued Sig 226 but stated many newer guys using the G19 as it allows more flexibility for carry. They say the Glocks and Sigs are proven in combat and I've seen them shoot both exceptionally well. Bottom line, I believe you should carry and deploy whatever gun you're most comfortable with.
Nice objective review. I'm also a long time Glock owner that recently purchased the Sig P239 in 9mm. I have also owned a Sig P229 in the past. Both guns are incredible shooters, and functioned flawlessly. I've owned about 9 different Glocks thru the years, all of those were 100% reliable as well. I have a circa 1992 Glock 17 that I bought new (2nd gen), that has seen tens of thousands of rounds, and has been 100% reliable. It's all stock AND original except for recoil guide rod assemblies.
I do have the glock26 and I have a Sig P239 on order and should be picking up soon. I am going to carry the Sig once I get used to the trigger and operation. I have worn the G26 IWB without any problems, so we'll have to see when I start to wear the Sig. Maybe I'll do a video on CCW with my Sig.
The Gen 4 has a smaller grip. It does have different back straps for larger hands, great gun. As for fire power you can use all the Glock 9mm mags (10 round to 33 round).
Dude, I am not a .45 guy, but I was looking at the Sig 1911 today at the gun store where I make most of my purchases. It is awesome. If I WERE going to buy a 1911, THAT would be the one. The trigger is SWEET. Great features. I am a Ruger fanatic, but I own every Ruger that I ever wanted, so I'm bought a few Sigs this week because the quality blows me away the same way that Ruger's quality did when I bought my very first Ruger, a P89. Of course, I live in KY, not MA. You need to MOVE.
Thumbs up John! I'm actually a big fan of both Sigs and Glocks as well, But I do carry my G22 in The Winter And G30 in Summer. The bottom of the grip sticks out a little on my G22 when moving around, but with the SuperTuck Its more concealable. I heard great things about the Sig 1911 and saw 2 ppl buy them at four seasons last week. Too bad the GSR 1911 is not Mass Compliant though.
Just for concealment. He did say the glock's grip is short enough that you'll have to get use to gripping it. Personally, I prefer Sigs, they just feel more natural in my hands, most glocks feel like toys, with the small grip. Plus Sig Sauers shoot smoother.
@jaytheboxer I was gonna go for a sig 1911, but then the Smith E series came out........that thing is friggin sweet. ordered one today a 4 seasons. BTW did you see that the H&K USP is now MA legal! I need to buy one just to say thanks to H&K. Take care bro.
My pitbull is getting fat cuz I been busy doing in-law favors and kept forgeting to take him for a walk.. Probably gonna get a body harness and let him pull against resistance so he can be mmore muscular and intimidating. I wouldn't complain if I had a sig.. Its just that Glock is a gun you can almost guarantee will go "Bang" every time you pull the trigger
Which do you think is better for a small woman or would the Sig P238 be better than either of these? Would be for shooting at the range for fun and for concealed carry. Thank you!
I think the Sig would serve you best: small, manageable, lower recoil than the Glock thanks to increased weight yet able to have full hand grip. One of the best.
libertygirl Happy to throw my opinion around, should you want to listen :-) Looking at the number of gun carrying professionals whom have carried the Sig 239 over the years should underline just what a great pistols it is. Commit! You'll love it.
My wife stands 4'-8" and has somewhat stubby fingers. The P239 fit beautifully in her hand. This was fourteen years ago. We were not ready to lay down $750+ at the time. It's getting crazier out there so it's probably time for her to get her permit and make a gun purchase.
Sig 1911 are great - if you can't get a Ruger (like CA, at the moment.) No less then 2 local 1911 experts swear by Les Baer... They said stay away from Kimber unless you have money to do trigger work and Wilson combat just over prices (but they don't tell their rich clients.)
The thickness is a huge factor as well, I don't know the dimension however the Sig looks considerably thinner. If it is in fact thinner, advantage Sig any day it won't print as easily and your average shooter is going to shoot the Sig much better.
if you do decide on 26 though it still is not a bad choice, just you do not have any conversion options but again go with the gen 4 giving you one extra magazine and a smaller grip.,
I didn't say you can't, did I? And yes, an pointy little hammer has a way of really sticking out there. BTW: For the last 3 weeks I have been carrying a full size 1911 with a mag well, so I know how to conceal.
my stepdad owns the sig p239 and he carries it in a in the waistband holster and it is very easily concealed i used to never be able to tell when he was carrying it
I like the Glock 19 for ccw rather than the 26 bc I can get a better grip on it and the extra rounds are a plus. And it really is easy to conceal still. But I still want a sig for cc as well. I'm thinking I may end up with a 239 at some point.
The sig p239 is more comparable to the Glock 19/23 in physical size. However, the Glock 19 carries 15+1 rounds and the 23 13+1. So Glock beats sig in fire power. But I think the DA/SA trigger is safer for carry and the Sig is just a very cool gun while the Glock is pedestrian.
okay yea ill def. check that out, I have always wanted a glock, just because they are so well made and reliable, who knows maybe ill like the glock 19, better than the 26.Thanks for your input ;)
I would really like to hear your opinions on the baby Glock and P224. The extra weight of the Sig seems to increase accuracy. But of course you pay a heavy price for it over the Glock in dollars. But I suspect you may side with the Sig.
I had both of these except I had the 27 40 cal Glock and I sold both and I kick my ass so bad. I sold the Glock to my cousin and he still carries it. And the Sig I paid just slightly under eight hundred for and know there over eleven hundred. I am so stupid that p239 is beautiful. It's only a 7 shot but Sig Sauer are the elite!
I don't think Bobby Alex was trying to come off on the wrong foot. I think he was advocating the petitioning of the legislative branch to change laws that do not represent the position of the majority in the conscience of good faith.
Hey 007, do me a favor and AT LEAST fondle a Glock 19 first. I bought a 26 and ended up trading it for a 19 because the 19 felt so much better in my hand. Happy shopping!
it is not, it is a Gen 3. I would not hesitate to get a Gen 3 or 4. Most of the problems were exaggerated, and in any event, they have since been addressed by Glock.
I am determined to carry my p239. I've got it in .40 too. I get it back with my new custom holster on Wed, but I think I made a mistake. I'm going to have to get all kinds of vest type shirts to go over my shirts.. But I WILL carry this gun. There are not many options for women to carry unless they dress like a man, it seems. People give me shit about the p238 being small, but I'm little. I Can't hide much..! But I will find a way. I love .40's. It's heavy (but mine's steel on steel) I love it!
Glock frame is clearly wider than the P239, almost 1.5" vs the 1.2" of the P239. For the same thickness in the frame, which is the part that actually sticks up out of your pants when concealing, I get a Crimson Trace laser grip. Put a CT laser grip on that Glock, and you will REALLY see that grip explode in size, almost 2" wide at that point. :O As far as the weight that is both a blessing and a bit of a curse.
@mikepga1 just remember.....weapons are made by the lowest bidder....just kidding. Sig makes good stuff. i really like the P239. In single action the trigger is VERY sweet. Also the double pull is way better than most. A lot of people complain about the weight. but I find it to be an advantage.
A serious question from a foreigner: Why can you not buy a Colt or Springfield etc... in Massachusetts yet you can buy a Sig? I know it will be bollocks but what is _their_ logic for denying it?
A Current NH produced Standard Sig P Series cost between $250 and $300 to produce, any polymer frame cost next to nothing to produce. Now Compare, the Sig 2022 with a Glock, the 2022 is still a better value, about $100 dollars cheaper and at least the Sig comes with a Stainless Slide.
I think you’re way off base about the hammer printing. The hammer is half the width of the slide. It’s not gonna print. Also notice how the rear of the slide is sloped whereas the Glock is vertical. That upper rear corner of the Glock slide is what’s going to print.
i dont know why you would need to conceal it.. if you need to protect yourself youd do it. itd be better if i could actually GRAB the gun rather than my pinky flying off and a possible drop of the weapon. just saying.. i mean i own both of them BUT i find that the p239 kinda makes me feel warm inside when i shoot it
Want to know how much it cost Glock to produce it's new Gen 4's in America? $27 bucks to produce including shipping to dist, that includes the Magazines, Box and manuals... The Sig P series cost substantially more to produce than Glocks... It is Toyota VS Lexus, both will get you from point A to B, it's just that the Sig does it with a hell of a lot more features and style.
Tactical Priority If you're shooting 40 the glock will become trash before a sig will ever. That's about it. Sig quality is better. Anything else is subjective. I personally hate the grip angle on the glocks.
I find it amusing when people compare a Sig and a Glock especially Glock fan boys You are comparing a Kia (Glock) To a mercedes( Sig) The quality difference is huge And a side note when the P239 was developed it was designed as a law enforcement back up/ off duty weapon, not a CCW
the handle is not too long the Sig handle is perfect than that glock handle is too short and is very uncomfortable. the Sig is like Taylor made for your hand extremely comfortable and is shoots much better than the glock
@biguy525 they ddi not submit guns to the attorney generals office for a drop test, no loaded chamber indicator etc. the gum makers are kinda assholes if you ask me for simply skipping out on MA gun owners.
I"ll just stick with the Sig239 9mm Great Gun, plus peace of mind on the quality.
Pick a GOOD belt and holster and I defy you to discern the difference.
I love watching this in 2023. In the age of 365s and pocket nines I still love these two guns.
Lived in Masshole for 10 yrs, glad i moved to NC.I can own any firearm i want!
good for you bro! i live in illinazi, sucks over here
+Anber Quidrew
Al least Illinois joined the 20th century and "allows" the subjects to apply for concealed carry now.
TWO of my Favorites ! Nice Job !
I own both, both of them conceal well and are very high quality weapons
The best carry choice is the Sig P229 SAS Gen 2, designed for Sig for concealment.
Massachusetts... Ughhhh. Born and raised there. Moved way when I was 30 and never looked back....
I swear by the P239. I carry it everyday in an AKJ Concealco holster and even my girlfriend didn't know that I carried until I told her (about our fifth date). The key thing is I just shoot it better. Nothing against Glocks, but they just never agreed with me.

Loving it!!
Have you any experience with the P224 DAK?
@jordub that dosen't make you a noob....it's always a good idea to go with what you find fits best. I'm a GLock noob, but recently have been taken by a smith and wesson M&P, although it took a bit of gunsmithing to get there.

I have both and love both. The Glock 26 is my motorcycle gun and the Sig is my everything else gun.
Can't go wrong, brother.
John, I don't own any guns and want to get a gun for concealed carry. What would you say is a reasonable price for the P239?
Nice objective review. I'm also a long time Glock owner that recently purchased the Sig P239 in 9mm. I have also owned a Sig P229 in the past. Sooo, how much was the P239?? I just bought a very nice used one yesterday.
nice review, I love my P239 in 357 Sig is a real tack driver, it is thin enough for inside waist band for CCDW
Pouquoi ta mis des cartouches de fusils à pompespour maintenir les semi-autos en l'air?
The Gen 4 has a smaller grip. It does have different back straps for larger hands, great gun. As for fire power you can use all the Glock 9mm mags (10 round to 33 round).
.40 all day.
super valid points.
Dude, I am not a .45 guy, but I was looking at the Sig 1911 today at the gun store where I make most of my purchases. It is awesome. If I WERE going to buy a 1911, THAT would be the one. Great Review , I had no Idea your laws were that much different than Fla laws .
Have owned a SIG P228 for a decade and I'm waiting for my G26 to come in. We can all get along.
rgjohnson3rd that's awesome you have the only Kimberly out there, I've been looking for one bad.. Lol :)
Glock 26 is my EDC. Had it since 2003. I'm a Glockaholic, but do appreciate other hanguns.
The 239 is sweet gun. I've got one and love it. How are you carrying it?
My 239 is very concealable because the grip is thinner, making it narrow.
my next purchase will be a Glock 26 9mm ugh i cant wait!!! great video by the way ;)
what happens at the end?
tried to watch it twice and the guy puts me to sleep after 3 minutes.

I think the Sig would serve you best: small, manageable, lower recoil than the Glock thanks to increased weight yet able to have full hand grip. One of the best.
Thank you! I haven't committed to a purchase yet. I rent at the range but I think I'm going with the Sig for sure.
libertygirl Happy to throw my opinion around, should you want to listen :-)
Looking at the number of gun carrying professionals whom have carried the Sig 239 over the years should underline just what a great pistols it is.

The P239 is a finely crafted handgun. It really tames the snappy .40SW. Really good carry gun.
The only .40s I've ever shot that I liked were a P239 and a BHP.
Sig 1911 are tack drivers. One of the best 1911 s out there. Have it and a Kimberly. And would choose Sig over Kimberly.
Sig 1911 are great - if you can't get a Ruger (like CA, at the moment.)

Good stuff. I carry a Glock 27 everyday, so no argument here.
The Sig Sauer P228 is back and now comes with a 15 round magazine. It's now called the P228 M11-A1. sigsauer.com/m11-a1/
if you do decide on 26 though it still is not a bad choice, just you do not have any conversion options but again go with the gen 4 giving you one extra magazine and a smaller grip.,
I didn't say you can't, did I? And yes, an pointy little hammer has a way of really sticking out there. BTW: For the last 3 weeks I have been carrying a full size 1911 with a mag well, so I know how to conceal.
no, grip length is a problem for concealment.
my stepdad owns the sig p239 and he carries it in a in the waistband holster and it is very easily concealed i used to never be able to tell when he was carrying it
I think you did a great job at comparing the two firearms. Don't know why everyone is bitching about it...
I like the Glock 19 for ccw rather than the 26 bc I can get a better grip on it and the extra rounds are a plus. And it really is easy to conceal still. But I still want a sig for cc as well. I'm thinking I may end up with a 239 at some point.
I put $20 Hogue rubber finger grips on my P239... .shoots like butter.
@Ramsey120 wow you are so smart and gun savvy, you must be an expert. A regular Billy the Kid. Thanks.
I vote for one of each!!!
Thought I'd tuned into Mr. Rogers- wow
Both great pistols. The Glock 26 has been my EDC for years... (from another Mass-Hole)
For objective, practical reasons, the glock.
For owning a beautiful firearm, the sig
Glock frame is clearly wider than the P239, almost 1.5" vs the 1.2" of the P239. For the same thickness in the frame, which is the part that actually sticks up out of your pants when concealing, I get a Crimson Trace laser grip. Put a CT laser grip on that Glock, and you will REALLY see that grip explode in size, almost 2" wide at that point. :O As far as the weight that is both a blessing and a bit of a curse.
The Sig P224 would be a better match up to the Baby Glock.
good choice!!!
Sig is easier to shoot and more accurate...IMHO. After all, isn't that why you carry a gun?
the sig 40 isn't easier to shoot than the glock 26.the sig 40.cal is a little snappy.i own both
@mikepga1 just remember.....weapons are made by the lowest bidder....just kidding.
I don't have any problems concealing my P239.
@mbender104 crossbreed supertuck. but i like the g26 better.
I think you’re way off base about the hammer printing. The hammer is half the width of the slide. It’s not gonna print. Also notice how the rear of the slide is sloped whereas the Glock is vertical. That upper rear corner of the Glock slide is what’s going to print.
OH REALLY? Carrying a G26 for her ten years says otherwise. But whatever works for you.
That camera isn't going to answer you. It's just a recording device.
I'd rather get a better grip on a pistol. That extra finger is invaluable for me, but I'm a noob.
@rawdeal223 Agreed
Both well made . Sig's made better !!! Shoots better too !!!!!
i dont know why you would need to conceal it.. if you need to protect yourself youd do it. itd be better if i could actually GRAB the gun rather than my pinky flying off and a possible drop of the weapon. just saying.. i mean i own both of them BUT i find that the p239 kinda makes me feel warm inside when i shoot it
My p239 357 runs circles around my Glock 32
@mrm1775 that's what it's all about.....what works for YOU!!!!
Comparing an 8 or 9 shot over 30 oz. gun to a 10 or 11 shot 25 or 26 oz. gun. Not to mention the size difference.
What features does Sig have the Glock does not?
DA/SA, Build Quality, STYLE....
Thomas Ward subjective at best, but whatever. Obviously you are a sig fanboy.
Tactical Priority If you're shooting 40 the glock will become trash before a sig will ever. That's about it. Sig quality is better. Anything else is subjective. I personally hate the grip angle on the glocks.
source please
Nice review - thank you. Say ok one more time
I find it amusing when people compare a Sig and a Glock especially Glock fan boys
You are comparing a Kia (Glock)
To a mercedes( Sig)
The quality difference is huge
And a side note when the P239 was developed it was designed as a law enforcement back up/ off duty weapon, not a CCW
get a crossbreed supertuck holster and you will be able to carry it IWB no problem with the right shirt of a jacket.
the handle is not too long the Sig handle is perfect than that glock handle is too short and is very uncomfortable. the Sig is like Taylor made for your hand extremely comfortable and is shoots much better than the glock
@biguy525 they ddi not submit guns to the attorney generals office for a drop test, no loaded chamber indicator etc. the gum makers are kinda assholes if you ask me for simply skipping out on MA gun owners.
