Just did mine and polished the hammer strut tip to the main spring cup like a mirror finish. Smooth!
Yaun. All the 1911 s ive ever had 5 or 6 25 years ago. I sold and or traded them away durring the 2000 teens. My new collection so far has no 1911s. The newer guns are lighter and higher cap. Today is the golden age of firearms. Love thise 1911s may pick on up, may not.
Can you tell me the month and year 30-06 is? Serial number A6273293
Yeah, my NH dominator has this
When I built my first IPSC 1911 on a Colt Series 70 in 1982 my gunsmith offered this mod. He also modified the underside of the slide to accommodate a longer Commander ejector that he installed, which is a mod Pachmayer was doing for Ross Seyfried and Jeff Cooper on their Pachmayer Special competition guns at the time. That longer ejector gives the brass an extra hard whack on the way out, and combined with a lowered and flared ejection port makes sure the brass is out of the pistol quickly and far away with no hang ups. Thanks for the detailed video on this mod! 👍
Saftey sally😂 you're awesome!
Great video. Though, I liked your full disassembly one better :) You did the viewers a disservice at the end by not showing the 6+1 capability! Anyway, thought you might like to know I just did a full teardown and lube of my own. Cheers.
Great video clip, nicely done, thanks.
Did this much better.

This is not a mauser design

Nighthawk does this cut from the factory.
Wrong. Seen it for years.
Thanks for the advice
Is it a really cold winter where you are? That seems like feeding them way too much, unless they're very weak hives. Also, sugar water is not that good for them. They need proteins and fats too, but pollen substitutes are awful. Basically it's hard to start from nukes. If you feed them too much they won't make much honey, or they'll make "funny" honey. One thing is for sure: beekeeping is a fun activity for couples.
Been doing this for about 14 years, and yes , it's the Marvel cut, worked for him years ago.
My colt M45A1 came with that done from the factory.
is this the O1970A1CS? been looking for one of these..I thought this came in a Cardboard box. Thank you
Depends on the Ser.# 71B did & maybe 72B but 73 B did not.
@@grayrider1865 Thank you for the reply. I thought it might have something to do with that. I'll stumble onto one of these. so in the meantime BEFORE i do the 01911CSS which i have on order will see me through until i get the other.
My first RIA doesn’t have the slight “bump” but the second one does and this is why. Thanks for the info cause I want them to feel exactly the same. Note that both function 100 percent.
Good luck ❤❤❤
I did this to a 686 I owned a few years back. It took about 5 minutes, cost about 20 bucks, and made a HUGE difference! Loved that revolver, sadly destroyed by a reload my buddy gave me! That was about 12 years ago. I just bought another 686 today, and its in the mail. I will be replacing these two springs once I get the gun in my hands. And no more reloads from Skippy down the road either!
My very first gun was a 7mm Rem 700 for 185.00in 1973
I'll take the grip of the P239 over the 2x2 feel of the G26 ANY day. Shootability trumps mag capacity.
Thank you!
Couldn't see very well as the camera is moving around all over the place
What is milk brood
It’s the white substance that the larvae have placed with them, by the workers, that they feed on.
@@altor23 That's right. It shows that the bees have a lot of incoming food to feed the larva. Good job bee people!
Purchased at M700 BDL chambered in 8mm Rem mag in 1994. Going from the serial number starting with a prefix A was built in 1977 and on the shelf in 78. Great rifle and caliber especially on African heavily plains game.
Is this light enough to carry in a light jacket pocket comfortably? Or a little heavy? Torn between this or else a lighter 38, don’t want my jacket weighed down.
I have hunted with the 700 BDL in 300 win mag since 1983. Love this gun and have never missed my animal.
Sweet video 👍
Nice!
Thank you very much for this video. You saved me a lot......... of Tylenol. Carefully, filing & polishing the part of the grip receiver you pointed out worked like a charm. Awesome shirt btw!
NICE!!!!
Doug by my house does acc u rails
Cammng ramp, not a shaft! And we have all known about this Marvel mod for a very long time.
♥️👍🐝🌻
I’m 54 bought my 700 BDL 243 when I was 19. I’ve hunted with it every deer season since. It would shoot MOA but recently I bedded the action and freefloated barrel. With Remington 95 Corlokt tipped it shoots same hole every time even when it starts getting hot. I really love showing off its accuracy now when people pull out their custom benchrest rifles and are shooting sub MOA and my old Remington hunting rifle is tack driving.
Other than adding wood grips the only thing I did to my Kimber Custom 2 was adding an oversized slide release. Having short thumbs it was absolutely necessary.
There are people arguing about whether this can affect the firing cycle. Some people are saying it cannot because the disconnector remains in a lowered position for the duration of the cycle after firing. I am not an expert, so I decided to test this to see what the reality is. I took my 1911, no mag, no round chambered, cocked the hammer, pulled the trigger and continued to hold it down. I then pulled the slide to the rear, cocking the hammer and slowly allowed the slide to return to lock up. On my pistol, enough of the disconnector remains above the pistol frame for the front edge of the slide to catch on the disconnector as the slide moves forward. Continuing to hold the trigger in the pulled position seems to make this more significant because it seems to apply pressure to the disconnector that holds it in position, rather than allowing it to move entirely freely. I am sure my pistol is not representative of all 1911s, but I suspect that this catching of the disconnector has been causing some problems for me.
Range video pls
My Staccato 2011 has that feature.
Im pretty sure i saw you put down your hive tool !!??😮
I never heard of it, but it seemed perfectly logical to me to do not only that, but much else that eliminates friction between assorted often coarsely finished mass production parts. Polishing compound, PTFE powder and some attention to detail, everything moves smoother and with less effort. edit: I build engines and make jewelry, so my take on the value of finish work is different than that of the average person.
Lol I’m watching this on Easter 12yrs later..😂
Damn it is Easter, god wants me to fix this issue.
Properly fit and polish your $30 disconnector, and you have no need to machine on a $500 slide. The Marvel cut IS a solution to the perceived problem, just not the one I'd pick...
