Over priced sig isn’t worth it… gonna spend all that money should just get a 1911… would rather buy Glock than 1,000 dollar sig that gotta be sent back before it works right…. Just buy a Glock.
Being a self-funded gun reviewer is not a sustainable model unless you use previously acquired assets to recycle in to new ones. I've created a sizable collection, but my hating to sell things has certainly limited getting new material for content. You're doing it right, and you explained it well. Keep up the good work, man!
Hey JO, when are u gonna try and get a 3rd gen smith to review? Like a 3913 or 5906 or something? People usually only review new stuff but those old smiths are everywhere and any person could easily consider picking up a used example, which is why a good review is warranted. Not to mention, those old smiths were over-engineered by todays standards. I've been teasing myself with the idea of getting one off GB

*M11-A1 fan* I like a heavy trigger pull for the first shot to prevent ADs and NDs, not a safety catch which can be hard to use in a high stress situation (you may also have forgotten to use it or have an injured thumb/hand). Thus I favor the M11-A1 over the P320/M17. I also prefer a metal frame pistol as they make much better impact weapons than any polymer frame pistol. The M11-A1 is lighter than the P229 Nitron Compact, at the cost of not having a rail - no great loss as I don't like a light mounted to a handgun as they can adversely impact reliability, complicate the manual of arms, and increase the chances of an AD.

Appreciate the honesty as your not alone. I got ride if a custom made 1911 for a Glock 30 FS. It hurt at first but after 6 years of carrying the Glock as my EDC. No regrets at all. As a WORKING PISTOL it is perfect for my life style. The 1911 is in a class by itself but as to EDC it wasn't practical for my needs. I also have a West German 226 ( made in 1989) and still runs like brand new. I have thou gh t about those grips but that is one pistol, I'd to give my grandson in the original configuration. Your explanation was understood by more than would admit. I use to keep 20 to 30 weapons around but move a lot in the military and always worried about movers and some thief stealing them. It all changed when I sold my H&K 91 ( 308) for 4000.00. Only paid 599.00 for it brand new. I tried to deer hunt with but it was to big and clumsy. I got a little SKS and Finnish Mosin M39 and have been taking deer for over 20 years since I realized it was more gun than I needed. I get your point why you sold them and do appreciate the video you made on the Sig M1A.
I feel your pain bro. I've finally realized I can't have fancy guns anymore, otherwise they'll end up getting sold. At least with guns we can always sell them, so it's basically just renting them short term.
Good quality guns or guitars always can be bought, enjoyed for a while and then resold. Glock makes millions of Glocks just like the rest, and the same is true with Gibson or Fender and guitars. I just gave away one of my nice Samick made ES335 Dot guitars to a friend, who deserves a decent 335 style guitar, and sold 3 other nice guitars, and a couple Glock handguns. I found a nice older Century Imports West German P225, for sale. I sent the guy an email asking for time to see if my magazines would fit it.The P225A mags won't fit a P6 P225. He sent back some snakrky rude remark, so I sent him a picture of the $8900 cash I had, from selling the guitars/guns, all of the Sig parts that his gun needed, a partial view of my ID, and my CCW, along with a map to the town's red light district and directions, plus instructions on how to go get f__ked. I could give a squat about keeping any Glock. Finding another Glock is like finding a Volkswagen beetle or a Toyota Corolla in Mexico City. They are EVERYWHERE! Gen 3 Gen 4 don't care. You can find either in any pawn shop. Gen 2s? Meh! Gen 1s? Won't own one. Too many problems, with everything.
I don't agree at all on guitars. Yes Gibson and Fender make millions of guitars, but there are only so many 59 Les Pauls or Fender Ps out there. I've sold basses that I wasn't too impressed with at the time, that I wish I had back now. Every gun I've ever sold, I know I could go out and get a carbon copy of tomorrow. Guitars, not so much.
I actually have to agree with the comments below, never sell your guns. Now, having said that, I have sold a couple pistols in my time as well. I traded in my Colt Python .357 Mag and got a fair trade against a S&W 4509, which I still have. At the time, the ammo for .357 mag was expensive, and this gun was from the seventies and was a black finish which required constant cleaning to prevent rust. So I get where you're coming from.
I once sold my P226 Elite for a P239. Sold the P239 and bought a P226 Legion. Sold the Legion for a P320. Just recently sold the P320 and bought another P226 Legion AND a P229 Legion. Big mistake selling the P226 from the beginning. I learned my lesson and will be keeping my Legion duo for life!
Its a shame what we have to do just to find out what we really like . I sold a HK45 and bought an AR . I wish I kept the HK45 . Its just the nature of the beast : )
I agree with your point whole heartedly, I just sold two Kimber's to after shooting the Sig P226 Talo in 9mm. I acquired that pistol along with the Ruger AR-556. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!
An endless gun budget would be nice. I'm in the same boat, if I buy a gun I sell one. My two bucket list guns were exceptions. Of the guns I've sold the 320c is the only one I missed. Thankfully I filled that void with another one, sold my G19 and couldn't be happier.
Cool video. I have a Sig 239 Tactical but have wanted a Sig X-Five .40 cal. and/or Sig 226 MK25 for quite sometime. Thank you for perspective, I feel better. Considered the Sig Legion 229 as well. Decisions and after thirty days it becomes a novelty. Any of the new plastic guns will work well. Really like the FN FNS 40 and with 3x magazines it is awesome. Also really like the Steyr S-40, as it has never jammed.
I used to sell and trade often but after a while I just ended of regretting letting go of quite a few guns. Not all, but I sure wish I had some back that I can't easily find now (like a Saiga Sporter AK47 for one). I just rather wait an extra few months and save and not lose guns. Best way to do it imo.
Yep, I ran across a new 226 Blackwater for around 900.00 back in '05, thought I'd lost my mind paying that for a handgun but turns out, its one of the best purchases I've ever made. I guess the kids can fight over it someday....
Excellent point of view. I sold my guns that I had over twenty years. And have for years now, been upgrading to the newer technology weapons. I mostly collect. Now I wish to buy duplicates of what I currently have. I prefer to purchase new and not used. Attempting to save a hundred or so dollars. In the long run, it doesn't work for me personally.
My Sig P226 Legion RX1 is what I will pass down to my family. Awesome doesn't begin to describe this pistol... trigger, sight and grip WOW. Need I say I love it!!!!

I don't blame you bro! I'm thinking about getting rid of my 480 Ruger Target Grey for a Glock 19! had that thing for 10 year's hate to get rid of it but i really don't have a use for it. It's Big, ammo is Pricey an it's basically taking up space but I'll make a decision soon but the G19 will be my final purchase.
Like your honesty. I own the following SIG’s: P226R, W.German P226, SP2022 & just received a SIG P6 (I haven’t shot it yet, as I just received it). I also own a few CZ’s. I owned a Glock but traded it in for the SP2022 as the Glock was unreliable, most likely a lemon. I’m 66, so most of the weapons I buy will be keepers, to be given to my children down the road. If I was younger, I’d do the same thing regarding trading or upgrading your armory. Stay safe & shoot straight!
I have the problem of having too many pistols! I shoot them, sometimes they go into the carry rotation, but they mostly sit in the safe. My primary carry is the P229 and my secondary is the P938. Shield 40 makes his way onto my belt along with a Kahr PM40. I just carry Sig cause it’s cool and I can connect from far out. I don’t even want to know how much money I sitting in my safe lol
I know this situation. fortunately It didn't last long. but when I was in a bind I ended up keeping the gun I used most. one I could shoot every weekend and carry everyday. it happened to be a usp compact. I still have it.
indeed, only sell a upper end gun if you have major problems right out of the box. I purchased a Sig p224 SAS when it first hit the marked. failure to feed and eject. sent it back to sig they polished the feed ramp changed the ejector fired 50 rounds and sent it back to me. again more problems with quality ammo i.e. Underwood +p 124 grain, Winchester pdx 147 grain, speer gold dot etc. after the second round of malfunctions I HAD to sell it. this was not a fire arm I could never trust if the need came up. I really wanted to like the pistol, I have many Sig's some made in West Germany and have never had a malfunction with them. I also purchased a Legion SOA P226, had it to the range and it cycled 300+ rounds of various ammo flawless. I know how Sig's should run and I think the may have rushed the p224 to market a little fast. back to point, always keep your guns unless you feel you can not trust one with your life.
I get where you're coming from. I bought my first SIG in 87 and I was sold and believed for awhile that SIG was the only platform in a pistol for me. Then I got into 1911's for awhile and mastered buying a $700 pistol and putting another $600 in it and having a $900 gun ? Anyway I finally bought a Glock gen 4, put big dot night sights on it and it's a shooter no doubt. And for the money I'm not sure you can do much better. There's one SIG I'd highly recommend you check out if you've not already done so. The P239 gen 2, single stack 9mm comes with night sights and the short trigger reset (I'm sure there are those that get enough range time for that to matter). These were designed for CC and it pains me to say, it's got the best trigger of any SIG I've owned the double action feels like it's about 6lbs, instead of the 10. Being a single stack they come with 8rd mags & the extended mags hold 10. Another gun as accurate as the operator. Regardless there are many quality guns around. IMO it's whatever suits you and I like to know what kind of customer service I can expect when I purchase anything. I'm hearing a lot of really good things about the 320. I'm sure before long there'll be lots of videos comparing the G-19 vs the compact 320. Fun stuff, I can't tell you how disappointed I that we can't afford every gun we like. I'd have to add on to my house so perhaps some would argue it's a blessing...😎
I disposed of blue steel Colt revolvers and S&W blued with forged parts revolvers because these are more collectable than as regular shooters as parts dry up and the skilled gunsmiths servicing these are leaving the trade for various reasons. Replaced them with stainless Rugers and current generation Smiths with frame mounted firing pins instead of hammer noses.
Sigs are my faves" I sold my P229 in .40 & regretted it later" my GLOCK's I've had over 5 years" GLOCKs in my opinion are better for Police holster work Or undercover concealment work" & yes home defence what have you" but when I'm at my car taking out my AR15 to go inside my house I'd rather have a Sig P229 or 226 or another DA-SA gun" why? Because I do not like keeping my GLOCK in condition 1 with that 5.5 pound trigger in a holster or in my front pants" I prefer that quick long 10 to 12 pound Trigger pull like a Revolver" with SA follow up shots" imho DA-SA is better for (MY) type of uses" only exception for my GLOCK's would be to use the MiC holster quick release
My friend, and his dad have a Federal Firearms Dealer license and I have no clue how they afford to have all of their guns. They could easily supply a small army with various firearms. Lol
You do you bro. I do this quite often. I try to see it as a way of becoming proficient and knowledgeable when it comes to many firearms. I too wish I could own many things. But sometimes sacrifices have to be made to get something else you are curious about. I just trade an M9 and a Canik Rival Darkside (both fantastic guns) for a P226 Tacops.
I traded in a P238 for an even swap for the M&P9c.Love 9c so much, i traded in my Shield and PPS for another 9c in FDE.Don't get me wrong, i really liked both of those pistols, but i just found myself carrying my double stacks(G26, XD9 P320sc etc..) a whole lot more.Thought i would regret trading in two for one, but not in the least.I tell ya though, trading guns is a sickness, but with the ones i have now...i found the cure. ;)
Try this... I'm a lefty who buys appendix holsters, but I carry over my left butt cheek. Try and do that, but 5 o'clock if you're a righty. Seriously, it covers very well because the BACK of your shirt always hangs lower... It covers ANYTHING :-D

if you want a SMALL carry piece then I would say to get the Glock 42/43, but if you want a more "safety conscious" weapon then get the Springfield XDs. If you are confident enough so that doesn't bother you; get the Sig 320 Compact! There's like, no safety's! Just keep your booger hook off of the bang switch!!!!! Anyways, that's MY choice because it's a thin gun for having a 15 round magazine :-D N82 Professional model holster is the BEST holster! It has a retention clip on the trigger guard, so you have to twist it a tiny bit towards your body before you pull it up. Once you get the hang of it, then you'll be fine. I absolutely love mine, and then I also bought a STEALTH GEAR AIWB (appendix) for the summer months because N82 is NOT breathable! Good luck, Buddy :-D
I own several Sigs P226 E square 40SW and 357SIg, Sig 1911 TacOps 45acp, Sig 1911 22 LR, Sig 556R 7.62x39mm Gen 2. These pistols were purchased BNIB but earlier this year I found out about Police Trade in guns like Glocks which I purchased Gen4 G23, G35 and a RTF G22 which I picked up in Like new or Excellent condition for about 2/3 the price of a brand new one. I also was introduced to the Sig P229 357Sig which I paid 549,99 shipped out to me plus the 20 dollars for the FFL transfer and background check. Right after I got my 229 in 357SIG the retailer I have gotten my the PTI pistol has started carrying SIg CPO(Certified Pre-Owned) pistol and they have been priced at 599-650 a much better deal than retail price at most LGS. Here is the company I have purchased my Glocks which currently I have a Gen 4 G17 in Like new condition for 489 and that price is with night sights. All the pistol that I buy usually come with Night Sights from the factory. So far this year I have spent about 2500 dollars for 5 pistols 4 Glocks and one Sig P229. Maybe if you buy top-of-the-line guns and guitars you can keep them for years and then when you go to sell them if you take care of them, you can sell them for more than they were purchased for. If you keep them long enough they become classic or antique. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I personally don't buy things to sell them. That is something I personally I'm not into. However I guess it could limit my experiences.

Seems like this video was made to justify a personal choice that there is some regret. If there is a new gun that comes out, you save to buy it like a reaponsible adult.

carried the colt m1911 a1 for over 20 years. A few years ago I bought a MK 25. Now I won five and have bought my son two. I have also bought a number of the P 938 . I still like the Colts, mainly because I grew up with it in Vietnam and I know how to repair them.
im the same way had a sig 226 elite with crimnson trace grips trades it for glock 19 with trijicon rmr and zev internals and x300 lighr and raised supp sights then traded my fn for 229 elite lol cant stay away from sigs

I'd have to sell my 92FS to throw in the difference to buy the M9A3 since the gun cost somewhere around a $1000 bucks. This hobbie isn't a cheap one boys lol
I traded my Walther PK.380 for my Sig P320. The Walther was a piece of shit..jammed constantly, wasn't reliable, and I carry. My P320, 9mm, is what I carry now. I love it. Oh, and I'm a chick. My next will be an either an FNX .45 or an HK .45 I'm torn between the 2. Fellas..what do you think?
I totally understand what and why you sell. But for me I sold 3 guns earlier on and 2 I really regret. So I decided I'd never sell unless my families survival depended on it. So I don't sell them. I have a couple I carry on a regular basis but most are range guns and stay in the safe. I just like having lots of different guns around.
I am selling my shadow 2. I just got a sig p226 elite. The shadow 2 is a better shooter but its not practical for carry and its weight is even cumbersome for a night stand gun. You will be slow drawing it from its hiding spot one handed. The night sights are cool on the 226 and its lighter and safer for carry.

Can't have more than 5 private party transactions a year here in CA, so I'm stuck with all the guns. Funds are then limited for new aqquisitions.
I hate getting rid of guns and rarely do it. Metal guns are keepers. Especially blued steel and walnut.
I sold my other guns after I bought P226 and P220. Sold my Taurus Pt92, Glock 23 and Colt Commander.

At the time, the ammo for .357 mag was expensive, and this gun was from the seventies and was a black finish which required constant cleaning to prevent rust.

I once sold my P226 Elite for a P239. Sold the P239 and bought a P226 Legion. Sold the Legion for a P320. Just recently sold the P320 and bought another P226 Legion AND a P229 Legion. Big mistake selling the P226 from the beginning. I learned my lesson and will be keeping my Legion duo for life!
Its a shame what we have to do just to find out what we really like . I sold a HK45 and bought an AR . I wish I kept the HK45 . Its just the nature of the beast : )

Of the guns I've sold the 320c is the only one I missed. Thankfully I filled that void with another one, sold my G19 and couldn't be happier.
the p320 and p226 are great pistols out of the box. You don't have to buy upgrades to make them shoot like glocks

Decisions and after thirty days it becomes a novelty. Any of the new plastic guns will work well. Really like the FN FNS 40 and with 3x magazines it is awesome. Also really like the Steyr S-40, as it has never jammed.
I used to sell and trade often but after a while I just ended of regretting letting go of quite a few guns. Not all, but I sure wish I had some back that I can't easily find now (like a Saiga Sporter AK47 for one). I just rather wait an extra few months and save and not lose guns. Best way to do it imo.

Excellent point of view. I sold my guns that I had over twenty years. And have for years now, been upgrading to the newer technology weapons. I mostly collect. Now I wish to buy duplicates of what I currently have. I prefer to purchase new and not used. Attempting to save a hundred or so dollars. In the long run, it doesn't work for me personally.

The P228 is one of the most perfect firearms ever made. The P226 and P220 are wonderful too. The P239 is terrific too.

It's Big, ammo is Pricey an it's basically taking up space but I'll make a decision soon but the G19 will be my final purchase.
Like your honesty. I own the following SIG’s: P226R, W.German P226, SP2022 & just received a SIG P6 (I haven’t shot it yet, as I just received it). I also own a few CZ’s. I owned a Glock but traded it in for the SP2022 as the Glock was unreliable, most likely a lemon. I’m 66, so most of the weapons I buy will be keepers, to be given to my children down the road. If I was younger, I’d do the same thing regarding trading or upgrading your armory. Stay safe & shoot straight!

I have the problem of having too many pistols! I shoot them, sometimes they go into the carry rotation, but they mostly sit in the safe. My primary carry is the P229 and my secondary is the P938. Shield 40 makes his way onto my belt along with a Kahr PM40. I just carry Sig cause it’s cool and I can connect from far out. I don’t even want to know how much money I sitting in my safe lol
I know this situation. fortunately It didn't last long. but when I was in a bind I ended up keeping the gun I used most. one I could shoot every weekend and carry everyday. it happened to be a usp compact. I still have it.

failure to feed and eject. sent it back to sig they polished the feed ramp changed the
ejector fired 50 rounds and sent it back to me.
again more problems with quality ammo i.e. Underwood +p 124 grain, Winchester pdx 147 grain, speer gold dot etc.
after the second round of malfunctions I HAD to sell it.
this was not a fire arm I could never trust if the need came up.
I really wanted to like the pistol, I have many Sig's some made in West Germany and have never had a malfunction with them.
I also purchased a Legion SOA P226, had it to the range and it cycled 300+ rounds
of various ammo flawless.
I know how Sig's should run and I think the may have rushed the p224 to market
a little fast.
back to point, always keep your guns unless you feel you can not trust one with your life.

I get where you're coming from. I bought my first SIG in 87 and I was sold and believed for awhile that SIG was the only platform in a pistol for me. Then I got into 1911's for awhile and mastered buying a $700 pistol and putting another $600 in it and having a $900 gun ? Anyway I finally bought a Glock gen 4, put big dot night sights on it and it's a shooter no doubt. And for the money I'm not sure you can do much better. There's one SIG I'd highly recommend you check out if you've not already done so. The P239 gen 2, single stack 9mm comes with night sights and the short trigger reset (I'm sure there are those that get enough range time for that to matter). These were designed for CC and it pains me to say, it's got the best trigger of any SIG I've owned the double action feels like it's about 6lbs, instead of the 10. Being a single stack they come with 8rd mags & the extended mags hold 10. Another gun as accurate as the operator.
Regardless there are many quality guns around. IMO it's whatever suits you and I like to know what kind of customer service I can expect when I purchase anything. I'm hearing a lot of really good things about the 320. I'm sure before long there'll be lots of videos comparing the G-19 vs the compact 320.
Fun stuff, I can't tell you how disappointed I that we can't afford every gun we like. I'd have to add on to my house so perhaps some would argue it's a blessing...😎

I disposed of blue steel Colt revolvers and S&W blued with forged parts revolvers because these are more collectable than as regular shooters as parts dry up and the skilled gunsmiths servicing these are leaving the trade for various reasons. Replaced them with stainless Rugers and current generation Smiths with frame mounted firing pins instead of hammer noses.

Sigs are my faves" I sold my P229 in .40 & regretted it later" my GLOCK's I've had over 5 years" GLOCKs in my opinion are better for Police holster work Or undercover concealment work" & yes home defence what have you" but when I'm at my car taking out my AR15 to go inside my house I'd rather have a Sig P229 or 226 or another DA-SA gun" why? Because I do not like keeping my GLOCK in condition 1 with that 5.5 pound trigger in a holster or in my front pants" I prefer that quick long 10 to 12 pound Trigger pull like a Revolver" with SA follow up shots" imho DA-SA is better for (MY) type of uses" only exception for my GLOCK's would be to use the MiC holster quick release

You do you bro. I do this quite often. I try to see it as a way of becoming proficient and knowledgeable when it comes to many firearms. I too wish I could own many things. But sometimes sacrifices have to be made to get something else you are curious about. I just trade an M9 and a Canik Rival Darkside (both fantastic guns) for a P226 Tacops.
I traded in a P238 for an even swap for the M&P9c.Love 9c so much, i traded in my Shield and PPS for another 9c in FDE.Don't get me wrong, i really liked both of those pistols, but i just found myself carrying my double stacks(G26, XD9 P320sc etc..) a whole lot more.Thought i would regret trading in two for one, but not in the least.I tell ya though, trading guns is a sickness, but with the ones i have now...i found the cure. ;)
Try this... I'm a lefty who buys appendix holsters, but I carry over my left butt cheek. Try and do that, but 5 o'clock if you're a righty. Seriously, it covers very well because the BACK of your shirt always hangs lower... It covers ANYTHING :-D

if you want a SMALL carry piece then I would say to get the Glock 42/43, but if you want a more "safety conscious" weapon then get the Springfield XDs. If you are confident enough so that doesn't bother you; get the Sig 320 Compact! There's like, no safety's! Just keep your booger hook off of the bang switch!!!!! Anyways, that's MY choice because it's a thin gun for having a 15 round magazine :-D
N82 Professional model holster is the BEST holster! It has a retention clip on the trigger guard, so you have to twist it a tiny bit towards your body before you pull it up. Once you get the hang of it, then you'll be fine. I absolutely love mine, and then I also bought a STEALTH GEAR AIWB (appendix) for the summer months because N82 is NOT breathable! I own several Sigs P226 E square 40SW and 357SIg, Sig 1911 TacOps 45acp, Sig 1911 22 LR, Sig 556R 7.62x39mm Gen 2. These pistols were purchased BNIB but earlier this year I found out about Police Trade in guns like Glocks which I purchased Gen4 G23, G35 and a RTF G22 which I picked up in Like new or Excellent condition for about 2/3 the price of a brand new one. I also was introduced to the Sig P229 357Sig which I paid 549,99 shipped out to me plus the 20 dollars for the FFL transfer and background check. Right after I got my 229 in 357SIG the retailer I have gotten my the PTI pistol has started carrying SIg CPO(Certified Pre-Owned) pistol and they have been priced at 599-650 a much better deal than retail price at most LGS. Here is the company I have purchased my Glocks which currently I have a Gen 4 G17 in Like new condition for 489 and that price is with night sights. All the pistol that I buy usually come with Night Sights from the factory. So far this year I have spent about 2500 dollars for 5 pistols 4 Glocks and one Sig P229. Next time you are looking for a firearm do a google search for Police Trade in or Certified Pre-Own and you will be surprised what is available and what the prices are.

Maybe if you buy top-of-the-line guns and guitars you can keep them for years and then when you go to sell them if you take care of them, you can sell them for more than they were purchased for. If you keep them long enough they become classic or antique. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I personally don't buy things to sell them. That is something I personally I'm not into. However I guess it could limit my experiences.

carried the colt m1911 a1 for over 20 years. A few years ago I bought a MK 25. Now I won five and have bought my son two.
I have also bought a number of the P 938 .
I still like the Colts, mainly because I grew up with it in Vietnam and I know how to repair them.

I'd have to sell my 92FS to throw in the difference to buy the M9A3 since the gun cost somewhere around a $1000 bucks. This hobbie isn't a cheap one boys lol

I traded my Walther PK.380 for my Sig P320. The Walther was a piece of shit..jammed constantly, wasn't reliable, and I carry. My P320, 9mm, is what I carry now. I love it.

I totally understand what and why you sell. But for me I sold 3 guns earlier on and 2 I really regret. So I decided I'd never sell unless my families survival depended on it. So I don't sell them. I have a couple I carry on a regular basis but most are range guns and stay in the safe. I just like having lots of different guns around.

I am selling my shadow 2. I just got a sig p226 elite. The shadow 2 is a better shooter but its not practical for carry and its weight is even cumbersome for a night stand gun. You will be slow drawing it from its hiding spot one handed. The night sights are cool on the 226 and its lighter and safer for carry.
