    I have the Legion 226 SAO with the 18 rnd mags and it serves as my bedside gun. I take it to the range all the time. It’s a phenomenal shooter, hands down one of my favorites along with its little brother the legion P229 SAO. These are two guns I would never sell. Great for the range and practical for home defense.

      The SAO trigger gives the same pull for every shot, in addition to being incredible. The 226 SAO also allows a round to be chambered or a press check with the safety on, unlike a 1911. One of my favorites.

      I'm so close to purchasing the SAO, but I just picked up a Sig 1911 that isn't even broken in yet and it's baby brother the P938 Legion. Yes I'm a Sig fan, and I've had my eye on the P226 SAO for a while. Always wanted a 226 but I'm not a huge fan of DA/SA. My first carry was a Beretta PX4 Storm subcompact DA/SA decocker etc, and it was great but times have changed. I'm much more comfortable with SA triggers.

    I've owned my SIG Sauer P226 MK25 9mm Luger pistol since around 2012. I bought it used for $730, if memory serves. It came with the SIG short reach trigger and short reset trigger installed, three standard SIG 15-round magazines, plus three 18-round Mec-Gar flush-fit magazines.
    I love it. It fits my hand like a glove, and I really like the DA/SA trigger. It's so soft-shooting, and has such a smooth operation - it screams QUALITY! Terrific accuracy, too... better than any of my other 9mm Luger pistols from Glock, Springfield Armory XDm, S&W M&P M2.0, shooting off-hand out to 100 yards. It's been totally flawless for my almost 11 years of ownership and thousands of rounds sent down range.
    The only thing I changed on it was putting on Hogue grips, and Trijicon HD tritium night sights (after the original Siglight night sights dimmed). The one thing I would like to add/change about this pistol is add checkering to the grip front strap.
    For a long time this was my EDC during the cool/cold months of the year, at which time it was carried in a leather shoulder rig. It's still my primary home-defense pistol. However, these days my EDC is a smaller, lighter, 15+1 round, 4" striker fired polymer wonder pistol.
    This is the one pistol I'll never sell. It'll stay with me until my time here on this Earth is done, at which point it will go to my son.
    Good things! 👍

    • @WhyPhi
      @WhyPhi Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@jaya3597 not really. Both are quite soft shooting guns. the p226 is slightly more tame since it is a bigger gun.
      I prefer the p229 overall since it is basically the same and it is easier to conceal but here are some differences in my guns:
      the p226 mk25 has a true 1913 rail which is nice, but I didn’t have any issue putting my tlr7a on the sig rail for the p229. Mk25 also has phosphate coated corrosion resistant internals.
      the grips are different since I got the mk25. I personally like the e2 grips on the p229 versus the classic grips on the mk25.
      Note: removing and reinstalling e2 grips may cause them to loosen slightly.

    I own the P226, you forgot about the solid guide rod and stippling on the trigger guard. You can pull it out of the case in a pitch black room and immediately see the sights. I carry mine because it hits the target every time, the low rise on recoil due to the trigger indentation, solid guide rod and higher grip because of the contoured beaver tail allowing quick sight acquisition. My go to Gun for defense along with my MCX.

    • @jeffanon1772
      @jeffanon1772 Před rokem

      Edpotts.... speaking of pitch black, that's one of the many advantages of the Springfield XD...both the loaded chamber indicator and the striker fire indicator can be checked in total darkness...so there's absolutely no doubt that a round is chambered & it's ready to fire.... another is that, unlike virtually every other semi auto, the XD won't go out of battery & not fire if pressed directly against an attacker's body...
      That said, the P226 IS a great gun...

    I just bought a P226 legion optics ready this week, mostly because it was on my list as an iconic gun. More than that, it was the true winner of the XM9 context back in the day, only losing the contract because the Beretta was cheaper. The thing fired over 2800 rounds without failure compared to the Beretta's 1700. Both magnificent guns, but since I already have the M9A3, I needed it's modern day arch nemesis.

    This was the 3rd pistol I purchased, I bought it shortly after they hit the market. I love this pistol and I shoot it better than any of my other handguns. Messing around with a buddy I ran out of rifle ammo and pulled my pistol while my friend finished his magazine. We were at 75 yards and he laughed asking me why I was wasting rounds, until we checked our targets and he realized I was hitting with it. He didn't have a bad word to say about the pistol after that, and I only use iron sights on pistols.
    Edit: I don't carry it regularly, I will carry it in a shoulder rig if I'm dressed in a suit (but that doesn't happen often). It was my night stand pistol until 2 years ago, I have since switched to a Glock 20 10mm. It's my go to if I'm shooting 9mm.

    Older SIGs like the P226 and P229 as well as CZ 75 variants are my favorites. The trigger pull variation is not an issue with me, but the extra safety margin is. I am range challenged since a move a couple of years ago, but that appears to be changing so I am looking forward to spring as it’s still cold up here in the Alleghenies. One of the nice things about the 226 and 229 is (or perhaps was) that the uppers and lowers were interchangeable much like an AR-15 so, at least several years ago I bought a new Emperor Scorpion 40 cal lower on gunbroker and caliber kits in 40 S&W, 9 mm, and a 22 lr so I have one P229 that is multi caliber. Carrying a CZ Rami or a Kimber k6s 2” in civilization and a K6s 3” for woods walks but would consider a P229 without reservation.

Although I carry a G19 personally on my off duty days, the P226 is a combat ready forearm, yes there are other lighter more concleable choices but as a duty firearm the dependability and just overall ease of shooting regardless of the DA/SA this platform is a joy.

    bought a Sig 229 Legion when they first came out ,really nice shooting gun. my nephew had just finished a 5 year tour wit the 82nd "All America" division. he was own in florida visiting. we had gone to a local range for some shooting. he shot my 229 and liked it. he let me shoot his pistol. it too was a Sig...an M11 A1. for me ,it shot better than my Legion. I was really impressed with the feel .yes I know that the legion costs more than the M 11A1and the legion has all the bells and whistles ,plus the cool little "coin" and special deals etc, etc. didn't matter. I began to look around my area(Central Florida) for an M11 A1pistol....none to be found. I sold my Legion ,put the money away and kept looking. a fellow Marine who works at my favorite range(there is no such animal as a "former Marine) called me and said they had received 5 Sigs in 1 was an M11A1. told me to haul ass because some one had been in earlier and was giving 'my" pistol a long, hard look and asking a lot of questions.BAM grabbed my money, got to the gun store, did my paperwork, got the
    'proceed" word from the fed's, took my M11A1 home, broke it down, cleaned it...I never shoot a brand new pistol until i have field stripped it, cleaned it first. that was 2 years ago this month.i shoot that pistol more than any of my others.SEMPER FI my brothers!! LIFE IS GOOD!!!

I was a little hesitant to change to a 9mm, but after several boxes of ammo, the ability to return back on target quickly, convinced me. I don't carry it very often, but it's always in my vehicle. The best thing I ever did is stuff it full of all the gray guns goodies I could get. It's even heavier due to the stainless steel frame, but the trigger is fantastic and it shoots like a dream even with the relatively high bore axis. It's built like a tank, and it has become apparent that I'll never be able to wear it out in my lifetime. The only thing I've had to replace is recoil springs, but I stocked up on the good older green and orange braided wire versions, so I'm set for many more years. The only thing I might like to have more would be a German made X5 or X6 model.

    Got the same ipistol 226 legion da/sa and I carry it as a winter gun with bigger clothes as my edc. I told myself when I bought it that I was gonna test the design as a work gun and not just a show piece. I’ve put upwards of 5000 rounds through it and I’ve never had a single failure. Let me say that I clean my guns like a psychopath every single time I leave the range if it’s a gun that I carry. I maintain it really well if I’m going to put my life on it. The gun has never failed me, not even once, and I’ve put every style fmj from cheap to boujee through it and every round of defense ammo from 50 gr liberty defense all the way up to 147 with everything in between. Normal pressure, plus p, all of it. Great gun. My only issue I’ve ever had is that I felt the front sight would drift out of place after putting lots of rounds through it. But that’s pretty much it. I would absolutely recommend this gun for anyone thinking of buying one.

    Howdy, another Tennessean here. I have a P226 Legion SAO -- so there's no double-action issue. It added another $150 to the price -- and this model has a more consistent trigger feel/action. The weight is very advantageous for us folks with tremors. As far as a carry gun -- I very rarely carry it outside of my "range day." Very accurate/site picture to target alignment. The weight also improves accuracy for the first shot during drills for fast response target acquisition from either the draw or 1st ready position. However, it is not my most accurate/consistent target shooter. Out of the dozen handguns I have, my BUL Armory 1911 Commander has an unbelievable trigger with a very balanced feel in your hands. I have other 1911s and I, of course, started out with an Army 1911 when I served in the 70s/80s before getting the Barretta M9 in the late 80s/90s. Between the BUL and the P226, I'd use the BUL unless I needed more capacity per magazine. As to EDC, I tend to keep that for my under $700 pistols due to the likelihood that I'd never see it again if I had to use it and Law Enforcement felt the need to confiscate my firearm ;-) LOL
