Thank you so much. I don't shoot often and was nervous about disassembly & correct reassembly. I found your video easy to follow.
If you could have only one handgun, it should be the Sig-Sauer P-239, in .40. If you want to train with a dozen guns, there are other choices for each purpose which might be a little better than the P-239. But if you want a gun that's very easy to conceal, and you would also like it to be excellent in every other way, there's nothing as good as the P-239. Own some specialty guns if you wish, but your basic all-around favorite will soon prove to be the P-239.
In 2001 my husband bought me a Sig P239 .40 on our honeymoon. I've put 1000s of rounds through that gun over the years. I don't remember ever getting any kind of malfunction. It remains accurate and reliable after 21 years. I would NEVER sell it. 'Til death do us part.
I’ve had one for 20 years now and I can’t get rid of it cause I love it,,,yes I know it’s only 8 rounds but I like the idea of every feature is on one side, and a little heavy for the size and expensive but accurate as well,, great video btw,,,much appreciate it
Nicely done. I just got my P239 9mm for carry and appreciate your straight-forward video.
The mag release is reversible bought mine off a guy who was a lefty and he switched the mag release to accommodate him.
I agree! This is one pistol I won't ever sell. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, this was helpful to me.
Old video but bought this gun. Excellent review of breakdown and cleaning. Thanks.
Very helpful video, thanks.
Thanks, good to know that it is reversible!
Awesome well done video!! Step by step and very clear instruction!! THX BRO!!
October 2019 P239 have been discontinued, I will keep mine !!
2017 is more like it bud stopped making them 2017 find one you better grab it mine came with 3 mags 10rd
I love mine. I traded a Glock 23 for it about 8 years ago.
Awesome, thanks.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Very helpful 👍🏽
Unfortunately P239's are hard to come by. Gun shows would probably your best bet in finding one you can handle if you're not having any luck at your local shops or shoot ranges. It really is a great firearm. If you're looking for a Sig Sauer, alternatively you may want to look into the P229, and at a cheaper price point, the SP2022. Both of those would also be easy to operate. Thanks for watching!
AZConcealedCarry it’s the last of old school all metal firearms. Even till this day they run 400+ used
I use Balistol on the rails as well. I put a very small amount to help with friction. But yes, you will see wear on the rails and also a bit on the underneath as well. It's normal.
I have a SIG Sauer p239 .357 Magnum Automatic, and THANKS for the Info on how to lock it in place to clean. I got it now.
357sig not 357mag
Very nice breakdown and cleaned no video. I'm sells big quite a few firearms and buying a P239 to put in my CCW permit. I'm just a better Sig, Kahr, and CZ shooter than I am with most polymer pistols.
Thanks! 👍🏼
I put a dab of Slip 2000 grease on the slide rails on my metal frame Sigs. Makes it smooth as butter
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!!
Great informative video! I recently turned 70 and struggle to find a 9mm with a slide I can efficiently operate (I have arthritis in my proximal thumb joints). I bought a Beretta 92FS Compact two years ago and really like it but still looking for the perfect "fit" for me. The P239 looks like a good candidate but can't find one I can handle. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Nice video, thanks...Just bought one of these in 9.... So,... Is it just me, or is the take up in single action about a mile and a half??? Im thinking its just a characteristic of this model. Would you agree? Thanks.
I too use Ballistol to clean my firearms. Its seems like you did not lubricate/oil the Barrel after cleaning. You did however, dry off all the Ballistol from the exterior of the barrel. I my experience, its good to place a light coat of oil on the barrel before reassembly, don't you think?
I just added a P239 in .40 S&W. Do you lubricate the trigger springs at all? And what about the hammer spring that runs down the backstrap?
Great accuracy, maybe a bit heavy but a keeper!
will be my next gun
Hello AZ ...do u notice any wear on the frame underneath the rails .... Do u ever grease the rails. Thanks
How has the reliability been?
Just a great gun! ask why retired cops seem to go heavy on this one gun?
Slide Glide or any good quality grease is a far better lubricant for a SIG's frame rails.
I bought the P239 sig for conceal carry. I live in California unfortunately it is almost impossible to get a CCW PERMIT. I haven't fired it yet but have heard good reviews about it. Hope you can find a double stack magazine. In California we are only allowed single stacked mags with a capacity of no more than 10 rounds.
I live in Ca and have a CCW permit.
You are incorrect about magazine restrictions here, we are not restricted to single stack magazines. The restriction is for 10 rounds but it doesn't matter if you have single or double stack mags.
Why does mine have a hammer that I can’t pull back and I’m missing the D Cocker
The brass brush is for scrubbing the barrel, not putting cotton patches on. There is a separate attachment for that.
I like the P239. I am stuck between purchasing the Sig P239 or P229 which is better for conceal carry?
I carry the P239 in a leather Alien Gear holster all day every day. It's so comfortable I forget I have it on. Great video.
Be buying some Ballistol, thanks.
Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with the background of the P239. But yes, they are great guns! Thanks for watching.
What about oil? You didn't add any oil after?
I generally use Balistol for that as well. I typically clean the firearm as I would if I were cleaning it after a day at the range. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!
👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed the video. Happy to help :)
This is the type of gun that killed Kate Steinle in San Franciso. The guy was acquitted based on reasonable doubt by a light trigger pull and no external safety resulting in an accidental discharge.
I wanted to see if there are any reviews about an extra touchy trigger.
So lets get this one straight... the illegal felon was not prosecuted.. but the gun itself was ? at fault?
El Rico ..... because of a San Francisco jury having defective thinking.
Ive got quite a tight background with the p239 if you need any information on it
VRAPHALOPRIME any tips on specific spots to place lubrication? I have some lube, etc. leftover from when I still had my shield and with that the manual showed specific spots you wanted to lubricate. I don’t have a manual for the P239 so I was hoping to see what other owners of it suggest
I use brake cleaner and 10w-30 high mileage motor oil
Good review. I've two questions, do you lube the rails after you wipe off the Ballistol ? I really like Sigs personally, I've always used the best grease I could find to lube the rails and barrel with. Does it concern you that the upper is stainless steel and the frame is aluminum ?
Most Ballistol users, use the Ballistol as their lubricant. That is what he did in the video.
Thanks for your video. I just received my p239 and need to clean it before going the the range - what is the best cleaner to remove the factory grease and such? Thanks for any info!
You left out the most important thing is a trigger reset you might want to take the video down and correct it
Damm, man! It's Just lake the shots!
This is a good video, but I would absolutely *not* recommend using Ballistol as lubricant. It's not designed for that and does not do a very good job. Use some properly designed lube oil or grease, otherwise you will significantly increase where.
CLP would be a fine choice
This is a horrible way to clean, and it should only take 3-5mins to clean a handgun.
You’ve obviously have never cleaned a a handgun before
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
