The female sergeant was just amazing. Soothing voice tone, didn't agitate. The other guy did fine, too, but some how she was able to calm him a bit.
There's reason why most police departments employ female dispatchers.
Their voices tend to have a calming effect to the cops when they're calling in a report.

That guy doesn't look like a "real" sovereign citizen to me. By that I mean that it seems like he's just having a mental health crisis and latched onto the sovcit "tropes" to construct his delusions. When my Mom was still alive, if she saw someone acting like this she would frequently say: I don’t know what’s worse, the conservatives that won’t fund treatment programs for people like this, or the liberals that closed down the mental hospitals and put people like this back on the streets in the first place. I realize what I’m saying is overly simplistic, but the fact still remains that deinstitutionalization movement in the western world for institutionalized psychiatric patients was largely a liberal movement that viewed residential treatment as cruel & barbaric.

It was Ronald Reagan and Republicans who closed down most of the mental health facilities across the US in the 1980s and that is the beginning of when this country started experiencing major problems with these people. The female officer is a great example of the value of community policing. She knows who he is and she knows he's basically harmless. I hope she has children...and that she raises them with the same kind of firm patience. At one point, when she said, "c'mon, [something]," I thought I heard her say, "mommy."
Female officers are often good with men in this state, she was exemplary.
He could turn violent and stuff but she knew what to do to help prevent that happening. First cop was scared, and listening to what he was screaming I can see why.

@@powbobs Actually, deinstitutionalization of mental patients began long before Reagan was president. In California Reagan was blamed as the governor who closed state mental institutions and left the patients out on the street. The legislation that caused that was actually signed into law by Reagan's predecessor, democrat governor Edmund G. "Pat" Brown. It went into effect during Reagan's term as governor, but he had nothing to do with it. With the advent of newer psychiatric medications, mental institutions all over the country began to close, and mental patients were handed bottles of pills and turned out onto the streets as "outpatients". The guy in this video is an example of a psychiatric patient who clearly cannot function in society. So, there is still a need for mental hospitals in this country. The way this guy was hollering, using military jargon, and giving orders to the police, I suspect he may have been a military drill instructor at sometime earlier in his life. If that is true, then he should be getting help from the veterans administration.
there is a difference between having a safe place available and enforced institutionalisation. the latter is not fun for anyone, no the patients, not the nurses. An institutionalised woman got the law changed in the US- Helena Bonham Carter played her in a film.
The former is the better option, but many choose life on the street rather than having to obey rules.
Having such untidy chaotic people locked away does make the streets quieter, but imagine being quietly delusional and having this guy as your roommate.
No amount of treatment is going to help this guy. Not ever.

Or BiPolar psychosis, or drug induced psychosis, or Schizoaffective Disorder mixed with Histrionic Personality Disorder, along with PTSD induced panic attack... as an RN of 28 yrs who is state certified to teach classes on mental illness and developmental disabilities, we cannot diagnose someone without knowing their full health history. There are many mental health issues which can cause delusions and erratic behavior. There are also chemicals that people can ingest which will also cause this behavior. We have to be careful that we don't diagnose someone without knowing the facts. After all, everyone has behaved in a less than rational way at some time or another - whether it was when they were angry or intoxicated. We wouldn't want someone to slap a diagnosis on us during that one time based on a single incident of unusual/odd/out of control behavior. Would you?

In the military there are the ranks of Master Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major, but no Master Commander; just doesn't exist. Now, if he is a Veteran, there's plenty of programs where he can seek help; short term, long term, and counseling. We need to take care of our Veterans, especially Combat Vets.

Most of these have some PTSD, but on top of that have drug addictions. So the drugs need to be devoted from, only then can mental health help begin. USA has chosen jail as the detox location vs medical detox.

I truly feel so sorry for this individual. He served and defended our country. Thank you. This is all he has left to his life. He really needs to be in an institution and cared for (rather than someone collecting $1900 on SSI and never worked a day).

I'm 66 years old, have been working with the public in various capacities since I was 16, and have never one of these magical people whio are "collecting $1,900 on SSI and never worked a day." They're like unicorns, SSI unicorns. 🦄 I have met plenty of folks on SSI, but they had all worked many, many days, often at crappy, dangerous jobs before something happened that rendered them unable to work.

You've never seen a CZcams video where someone was arrested, and they are collecting SSdI, never worked, but are clearly capable if they are able to break the law and fight with police? They are the ones sitting on their butts all day eating the junk food they bought with our tax dollars, while sitting in apartments that they only pay $5 per month for on our dime, while playing video games and getting high. Then, they have more children to collect even more benefits. They claim they have things like "social anxiety", yet manage to go out in public to meet new men to father their children, go to bars to get drunk, and go to stores to get busted for shoplifting. They aren't unicorns. Unfortunately, they are the ones making it difficult for those with actual disabilities to qualify. Eventually, some lose their benefits when an angry neighbor or friend calls the SSA and says they're faking it, and they get busted. Or they are busted when they get arrested for something that goes against their diagnosis.
