The term "Sovereign Citizen" is a Oxymoron as one cannot simultaneously occupy the status of being a "Sovereign" and then at the very same time claim to be a "citizen." Usually the term gets thrown around as an erroneous label to describe someone (who usually doesn't know what the fuk they're talking about either) who has been spending way too much time watching a certain genre of CZcams videos and has misinterpreted (or believed) what they've been watching to the point that they believe they have the ability and mental capacity to take on the state/federal governments and whether they do or don't have any historically legal ground to stand on, actually be victorious against such an entity while battling them upon said enemies home turf, which is in itself ludicrous of course.
So you see ANYONE who use the term "Sovereign Citizen" whether it be to describe someone else, or themselves, is an absolute dumbass and has absolutely no clue wtf they're talking about. Period. 🦅🗽🇺🇲⚖️

Without any evidence of such instances, what motivates people to continue to try this defense in court? Do they think they're going to be "the one" who finally succeeds where everyone else has failed?

These guys remind me of guys who buy online training on how to pick up women. The training tells you a bunch of lines that are guaranteed to get women to go out with you. Then they show vignettes of someone using the lines, and the women always respond according to the script and agree to date the guy. Then the guy tries it in the real world and the women look at him like he's nuts. There are no shortcuts in important matters in life. If it seems too good to believe, that's because it's not real.

Ah Australia the land of the corporate pseudo government pretenders. As far as Australia is concerned there is only one sovereign citizen and that was Queen Elizabeth II as she became in 1972 a sovereign citizen of a State of the European Union while being the sovereign of the United Kingdom and its realms, of which Australia is via clause 2 of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 UK.
The only "clowns" in Australia are the one's pretending to be Judicial officers unable to create a PROPER court order of course while operating a Star Chamber.
US Supreme court cases can be used in Australia, I think you had better take a look at the annotation to the Constitution to confirm that in fact Australian people can use US Supreme court precedents for the purpose of highlighting precedent not yet covered in Australian jurisprudence.
Of course the defendant in this case failed to present himself properly but this does show that in fact these arguments are a sign of a desperate population attempting to get back a proper form of governance which has been deteriorating over that past 100 years into the cesspool we are left with today.

What gets me is that these Sovcits walk into the courtroom believing that their words are going to "shock and awe" the judge and win the day. No. This stuff was old 100 years ago. Every court and every judge has seen it before multiple times and knows how to deal with it. I don't know anything about Judge Wolfe but I'm sure he's gone to law school, passed the BAR exam, was a lawyer for 10+ years and has been a judge for 10+ years. He's not going to be wowed by a sloppy document written by an "attorney of fact." Or by any Sovcit challenging jurisdiction or yelling out supreme court cases. Nope, not happening. Get a real lawyer, kids.
I'm with others here who say that the moment this guy refused to state his name the judge should have told him to sit down and immediately issued a bench warrant. Maybe a week in jail will help him remember his name.
