I like that the judge actually switched to saying "comprehend" instead of "understand"
It removes any ambiguity and forces the sov cit to actually state on the record an acknowledgement of what's being said.

I "understand" this particular delusion of theirs.
They think they can invent legal definitions of words and actions which have no basis in law and then waste the courts time arguing about them.
It follows their delusion about "coming across the bar" or "into the well" in a courtroom.
I have seen videos where a sovcit stood behind the little fence they call "the bar" and refused to come to the defense table whereupon the judge ruled them as "failure to appear" and issued a bench warrant.

I like how the judge has become wise to the fact that "understand" is one of those trigger words for sovcits that they think has some kind of nefarious hidden meaning, and so he consequently tries to use "comprehend" instead. Whenever I hear things getting stuck on the word "understand" I'm always thinking "just say comprehend, judge! they can't twist that one up."
Also - take note how every time the judge asks something about him representing himself, the sovcit responds that he is "presenting" himself. The word "represent" is another one of those trigger words for them that they dissect like schizophrenic word salad and invent new meanings. They think it means "re-present" as in, something being "present" again a second time. From that, they somehow conclude they're being tricked or swindled. How exactly though I still haven't figured out.

@@pennkeukathe special appearance is borderline correct. If you’re sued from outside your country and ignore it, a default can enter (although they’re not easily enforceable, there are downsides). If you show up and defend yourself, you submit to jurisdiction and the judgment often can be collected across borders. Hence, you can have a limited appearance to challenge jurisdiction.
This is irrelevant for criminal law, as far as I know, but sovcits don’t worry about reality to that degree.

There's a phase toddlers go through, at about 2-3 years, when they won't accept authority and one has to get them to do so by both carrot and (figuratively) stick, and it requires a lot of patience. The same seems to apply to some dogs, a little younger. That process seems not to have happened successfully with these people.
I argue that the classic sovereign citizen driving with no tags is really baiting the police with the payoff for him/her being the argument with the police. They may let that go to the window smashing/arrest phase, because that adds the additional payoff of playing the victim on CZcams/to their social sub-group. Mike Tyson said "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it", and I think that arguing with the police (or the judge) and name-calling is actually a way they have found of fulling their ultimately sadistic desires safely. It's far safer than mouthing off at random people in bars, because the responses of police and judges are heavily constrained. I see it as basically the same sadism and passive aggression one sees displayed by "Karens", directed at authority figures and people whose behaviour is constrained. I think the behaviour of many flat earthers is the same, but science and knowledge are the authority figures (i.e. they never accepted the authority of teachers when they went to school). The fact that all these people do seem to genuinely believe the nonsense they spout is not (or at least not always) a lack of intellect. I think people engaging in acts they know to be unacceptable to society, like name-calling at police, feel the need to come up with a "social justification" for their behaviour, no matter how implausible, and then "self-groom" themselves to accept it. The fact that they feel this need implies that they aren't psychopaths, who don't care about social pressures.

Btw, with all his SovCit research, he’s totally dismissed all the cases lost with this defense. Unless the warden does a no show at trial, defendant is looking at jail time, penalties and court costs. He's an opinionated little man. Maybe that's the problem. He wants to have opinions that aren't held by others and he can't cope in his tiny wee mind. Maybe that's where his 'lack of competency' comes in. He's competent to stand trial though.
Regardless - he gets treated fairly and we'll see what comes. Repeat offender, so he's playing for higher stakes. Clarity of mind might be important and he should have a lawyer, but it might be fun to see him screw it up.
    Love your channel OSG.

To watch an intelligent, knowledgeable and fair judge control his courtroom so completely while working the case before him and guaranteeing the defendants rights in their totality is entertaining, educational and laudable. Thanks OSGCW for the update.

Judge Gauthier is a remarkable judge! I follow his CZcams channel and watch his livestreams in real time every week.

This goes to show our system of justice does work, even when dealing with these idiots. My take is that they just like to waste as much time as they can to postpone the inevitable. it's a game they play, maybe hoping the prosecution will just drop the case. This is why legitimate cases take so long to get a court date.

Please sit up mr. Mc cloud, this is disrespectful to the court.
