Especially when there are signs that say the exit number for Bradley International Airport several miles before that… There are other ways that they could go as well, such as exit 38 (take a left onto Route 75, and you’ll eventually run into it), 42 (take a left from the ramp, then go until you see 140, and take a left), and 45 (take a left onto 140, then turn either left or right to keep following 140, which will be a right turn after you make the turn, or if you go to the right, you can take Spring Street, which is the next road on the left.)

I don't know what's going on with this intersection that that lane was empty. And on principle you're right, you have to adjust your speed to the circumstances. On the other hand I've been taught in German driving school that traffic only works when you can rely on other drivers obeying the rules which the driver doing a left turn didn't and which a driver merging into the cam car wouldn't have either.

1:46 I get the point of view of the commentary saying that it was avoidable, and sure, it was. But it's still the fault of 1) whoever waved the turning car through when it was not safe and 2) the person making the blind turn Telling the cammer that they should have been more cautious just implies that it was their fault. If everyone in the cammer's position suddenly starts stopping even though they've got the right of way, that just sends the message that the people making the blind turns and doing the waves of death are not at fault compounding the problem by insinuating this behavior is okay This is a situation where an accident almost NEEDS to happen..(and be captured on camera) .to demonstrate that it's the wavers are at fault. There are too many people that seem to think waving someone through is okay and safe. It's not. and it needs to stop. Telling the cammer that they should have been more cautious undermines that. Cammer was not going an unreasonable speed, and now that I watch it a 2nd time, cammer even did slow down a bit just before entering the intersection. so now I'm to the point of changing my mind and disagreeing, no it wasn't avoidable. Waver's fault, the person making the turn was at fault, NOT the cammer's fault. even in the scope of defensive driving.

Seemed like the truck was attempting to get around the car as well. Car likely got back up to same speed, and truck couldn't then pass due to speed limiter.
Truck looks to back off as the dingbats car pulls around, and would likely (and hopefully) get back in the right lane once someone's patient enough to let him back over.
Just a guess, but i've seen and been in similar situations. Its unfortunate when someone goes just slow enough to mess with your speed limiter and cruise control lol.

  • @Troggle84
    @Troggle84 Před 2 měsíci +2

I live a couple of miles from the stuff at 7:55. This is on New York State Route 378 crossing the Troy-Menands Bridge over the Hudson River in Troy, NY. It's really tight to make the exit onto Interstate 787 north from the left lane like the dude in the Altima did there. Technically, everyone involved is speeding rather substantially since the bridge has a 30 mph speed limit.
Also, the bridge is prone to traffic since most people going to Hudson Valley Community College (the school mentioned in the clip) have to go through there to get to the school. Wrecks going eastbound on the bridge are common. Never had one there, but I've seen the aftermath of a bunch of them.
Finally, this whole situation is going to change in the coming years. The New York State DOT Is planning on replacing the bridge (it's 94 years old and used to be a drawbridge), but they haven't decided on the plan yet. Whatever plan they come up will see the exit with Interstate 787 revamped into a diamond interchange with traffic lights on each end.

1:56 I know people are trying to be helpful, but never NEVER wave someone to go when traffic is backed up. You cannot predict what other drivers are going to do and someone can come out of nowhere. This is how I was almost hit on my bike back in 2018/19. A car waved me to cross the intersection (no light, 2 way stop) while the closer lane of traffic was backed up. I went, carefully but quickly, and a car was coming in the far lane. Driver who waved me across had to roll down his window and yell so the car and I would see each other in time. They stopped probably about 10 feet from me, and I swerved on my bike.
    Don't do this.

(although the black truck is OBVIOUSLY wrong cutting that many lanes and basically crawling doing it), from the moment she started honking to almost crashing into the back of the truck, she had close to 5 seconds to react in any way...
Could've proactively just rolled of the gas and just moved on but instead choses to keep basically the same speed, honking and hoping that the black truck reacts

The last clip actually had me intrigued, so I spent a while on google maps trying to find that location. That entire area popped up in a year, because I found the exact exit and everything and the area around the highway is barren. And the pictures are from march 2023. That made it hard but this clip takes place at
      google.com/maps/@30.0709896,-97.8285366,3a,80.6y,187.09h,81.98t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKrzm_ppR1m1QobRPiyO7Cg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu
The road the truck pulls out from doesn't even exist yet, but you can still see he has almost no time to get into the onramp he wants. Especially given they have added a lane since the google car drove through. I am sympathetic to the truck just trying to get to where he needs to go, and in fact in the clip he realizes he has a dickhead behind him and moves out of the way.
Also, if the speed limit from 2023 is still accurate, then the cammer is going 67 miles per hour in a 55. That just makes it extra pathetic to ride your horn against somebody that "cut you off". You were speeding. If you don't want the follow the law then you have to be courteous of people who do. I do speed, but if it looks like somebody is even thinking about jumping in front of me, its my responsibility to brake to a speed where they are safe to do so. You dont keep the right of way if you are in the wrong.

@@Semystic If you're that far out from the next vehicle when making a turn, it's the responsibility of the person behind you to adjust. It took almost 7 seconds for the cam car to get to the point on the road where the truck pulled out from, which is more than enough time to both see the vehicle that turned in front of you and adjust to them without being all pissed off. Cammer is the type of person who'd get pissed off because someone dared to turn in front of them a km away rather than adjust to the fact that other people exist on the road.
If cam car had hit that truck, the fault would 100% be on the cammer for a rear end collision. Once you're done with the turn and have control of the lane, the fault lies on the person behind you, especially in a case like this where you have ages to react.

5:27 YES! Absolutely. There is a reason why you use the Left Lane for Passing only. Obstructing traffic is wrong.
But damn does that road rager need to stop driving. They could have shined their highbeams to the truck to indicate that they want to pass. Instead, they go to pass on the right and then throw a fit against the innocent bystander in the right lane who may have simply had their cruise on. Both the rager and the truck driver should have their licenses revoked.
