I dunno, I'm gonna catch flak but I also think this was the truck's fault too. Cammer should've been nicer. But as we saw in the video, there wasn't some immediate right turn. Truck had plenty of time to yield if they wanted to get all the way over. He had his right turn signal on, yes, but how was the cammer supposed to know that meant he was changing multiple lanes. Truck could've easily yielded and slowed, let the cammer pass, and continued into the far right lane.

It could count as self-defense. The truck that got pitted came into the other truck's lane. The truck that did not get flipped never left his lane. The truck that flipped was tailgating and road raging.
The other truck could easily claim that the aggressive driver startled them and they over-corrected into the side of the aggressive truck, causing it to PIT out.
I mean just because someone lost the confrontation wildly doesn't mean they're not also the ones at fault for it.

4:44 Trailer Sway: Prevention and Control
    Prevention:
⇒ Proper loading: The center of gravity of the load should be as low as possible and near the axle of the trailer. Avoid placing heavy objects in the rear of the trailer.
⇒ Tongue weight: Make sure the tongue weight is set correctly. The tongue weight should be 8-10% of the total weight of the trailer.
⇒ Tire pressure: Check the tire pressure of the tow vehicle and the trailer. The tire pressure should match the manufacturer's specifications.
⇒ Anti-sway hitch: Use an anti-sway hitch. This hitch can significantly reduce trailer sway.
    While driving:
⇒ Speed: Do not exceed the speed limit for towing.
⇒ Caution when changing lanes: Avoid abrupt lane changes and steering movements.
⇒ Braking: Brake gently and predictably.
⇒ Steer calmly: Avoid erratic driving and abrupt acceleration.
If the trailer starts to sway:
⇒ Stay calm: Avoid erratic steering movements.
⇒ Take your foot off the gas: Release the accelerator and brake gently.
⇒ Countersteer: Steer slightly in the direction the trailer is swaying.
⇒ Pull over: As soon as possible, pull over to the side of the road and check the loading and tongue weight adjustment.
    Additional tips:
Have a professional at a workshop advise you on the optimal loading and configuration of your trailer.
Practice driving with the trailer in an empty parking lot before driving in traffic.
Learn about driving with a trailer in a driving school or from specialist books.
Important: Trailer sway can be dangerous. Therefore, it is important to follow the above measures to ensure safety in traffic.

9:12 This was totally the cammer's fault. Not that I would really say much happened, pretty lousy cutoff lol. Most people could predict that this truck might want to get over, and trucks have HUGE blind spots, so it was pretty dumb positioning. Even if they could see the cam car there, it would be pretty unreasonable to try to pass them on the right.
Whenever any cars slide up by you, give them room in front of you so there's no risk of them not checking their blindspot, or missing you, or anything. And if you're further than even with them, make it clear that you're there and put yourself a few feet ahead of the other car. Saves a lot of confusion and close calls

4:42 Not sure what caused that, but when a vehicle towing a trailer starts whipping back and forth in one's vicinity , it's best to immediately take one's foot off the accelerator and make efforts to steer clear/behind. The trailer at 4:50 was loaded with way too much weight at the back. Trailers with insufficient tongue weight are dangerously prone to "wagging the dog" like that. And braking makes it worse! The only way out of that situation is to accelerate out of it and then gently slow down once it's under control. I'm curious to see people's thoughts on this. I keep seeing people saying "we need to redesign roads because current road design is not smart and causes people to crash and encourages reckless driving."
I say, that is a bunch of baloney. Roads don't cause people to crash and drive recklessly. People behind the wheel are the ones that cause crashes, by choosing to drive recklessly, drive distracted, drive drunk/high, and by not paying attention to anything going on around them. These people should be pulled over and held accountable with tickets or impounds, because it's usually an insignificant number of drivers who cause significant issues on the roads.

2:50 the commentary has nothing to do with the clip. While the Tesla did make an improper lane change, it was well past the intersection.
4:56 It was caused by improper loading- way too much weight behind the axles of the trailer. The trailer was probably also loaded well beyond its rated capacity.
9:10 the truck signaled for over 10 seconds his intention to merge over. Remember, in that situation, you are well over 60 feet behind the driver of the truck- he's basically guessing where you are in relation to the end of the trailer. From his perspective, the cammer was letting him in. It almost seems like the cammer did that on purpose to be a dick and to get his dashcam clip on the internet.

    4:58: Three likely causes:
    1. Trailer loaded too far aft. I had an 8400 pound forklift incorrectly loaded on a trailer with negative tongue weight; miserable tow only for a short distance.
    2. Trailer too heavy for the tow vehicle.
    3. Going too fast for the load or not driving with the load in mind.

8:05 I'm actually not overly alarmed at this. It's totally irresponsible, but the cinder blocks have weight to them and are unlikely to fly out if he's being reasonable about speed. Weight shifts forward (mostly) when driving. The back should be secured better, but this is not the most terrifying load I've seen this week.

  • @fivestringslinger
    @fivestringslinger Před měsícem

The pickup crash with the trailer is improper loading. It's important to balance your load. Too much weight to the rear and it causes the front of the trailer to lift up on the back of the tow vehicle. This reduces traction at the rear axle. Abrupt steering inputs or bumps induce a swaying motion that only gets worse. Attempting to recover with steering only makes it worse, and attempting to brake shifts weight forward on the tow vehicle first, further reducing weight on the rear axle. If the trailer had electric brakes, the best way to recover is to lightly activate the trailer brakes only with the brake controller and slow gradually.

0:47 So, uhh, somebody tell me again what those unsightly lighted bunions on vehicles' butts are supposed to be for...?
1:11 I trust EPPD will see that as *NOT* an "accident," but a *crime.* She clearly tried to run after the hit. How OP finally got her to stop, I have no idea.
1:29 He scammed himself, twice. Once was with misjudging the OP who had recorded proof of his scam. Second is misjudging insurance syndicates, which could and possibly would declare a statutory-total on scammer's 'Stank, and after depreciation adjustment give him a low-ball pay-out just enough to buy a second-hand Schwinn.
2:29 Feeling very bad for the victim. But I hope that road-terrorist won't be pulling those shenanigans again for a very long time. I trust his car was written off.
3:22 Bloody-damn pickemups, with their bloody-damn-pickemup shenanigans. But, if he did hit an innocent victim, that just proves my addendum to that cliché: He'll miss his ride after crashing it not-missing his exit. Feel bad for the innocent victims, though.
4:26 I've really gotten to H8 that phrase. But anyway, it's not a bumper, unless OP is driving a large pickemup or a 35-year-old car.
4:41 How does OP know Mr. Pickemup Shenanigans there has bald tires? Could it be, instead...maybe...it's the *DRIVER,* not the truck.
4:58 Obviously a bad loading job. *Huh-huh, huh-huh, huh-huh-huh* "Load." *Huh-huh-huh-huh* I mean, I've never loaded a trailer, so I don't really know much about such a job; but it's obvious even to me.
5:30; 6:08; 8:11; 9:00 Bloody-damn pickemups, with their bloody-damn-pickemup shenanigans. That's why all of them, regardless of make, hold the #4 ranking on The List...with prospect of moving up to #3 after attrition takes care of enough of those already at that rank.
5:52 Right; get 'em only *slightly* dedd...
6:26 Well, they shouldn't-a parked there, taking up the drunk-driver lane like that.
6:37 Right before you end up missing your ride, after you crash it.
7:00 Every wrong-wayer needs to get the Will-Smith Treatment, whether or not they survive the head-on they cause!
9:41 Well, he did have his blinker on. Maybe he just thought he needed to do something to follow the blinker, to avoid looking foolish by going straight while flashing right. Seriously, 'da-FUQ they be teaching in CDL school these days?!
10:14 Or, maybe his left-rear turn signal has a malfunction. Still, should give himself a warning about that and have it checked.
