As a rule for myself I give bikers more room than I do for a car, because size differences can make them appear faster or slower than other traffic. The same applies to 18 wheelers. Also, if a biker falls they have no protection from being run over if I'm too close. Drive defensively!
Same. I give cars or suvs less distance than I do motor bikes simply because I know they don't have the comfort of a crumple zone. If you want to protect yourself as a driver, protect everyone else.
As a rider, thank you for being an exemplary driver! Riders should be riding defensively as well - never sit in a blind spot, don't ride beside a car if possible, sit in a visible spot in the lane (usually RHS), and always check cross-street traffic.
Thank you. My brother and dad are avid bikers and spend the entire weekend riding around our state. It is always best to air on the side of caution around bikers giving them enough room all the way around

Karen thinks she is entitled to the lane, but that driver wasn't giving you a safe distance according to the DMV booklet. The driver behind you is so close to the rear wheel of your motorcycle.đ It sounds like a frustrating situation. It's important to prioritize safety on the road, so if the driver behind is too close, it might be wise to find a safe opportunity to adjust your position to maintain a safe distance. It sounds like Karen might need a gentle reminder about safe driving distances! It's crucial to maintain adequate space on the road for safety. Maybe a polite signal or gesture could help convey the message without escalating the situation.
As a fellow motorcyclist, I had a similar experience. I was at a red light and a woman in a large SUV started to drive right into me and wouldn't stop once the light turned green. â@@ajm2487 By retroactively ticketing or arresting the worst offenders. This lady is on all those traffic cams getting out of her, got seen doing it by every other driver present, showed up on her own dash cam, and then showed that dash cam with video of her getting out of her car to a cop trying to get the bikers in trouble. You catch people who do this like you catch any other traffic crime- using the cameras that are everywhere. Nobody even has to see you run a red- if you do, most lights will flash a bright and snap a picture of your plate and that's an automatic ticket if you show up on one of those. Unless you've broken down or have been in an accident where you can't pull over, there's no reason and it's incredibly easy to enforce. Easier actually than seatbelt laws and texting and driving because those are very hard to prove. People just put their phones up and usually avoid those specific consequences, and the only way anyone knows that you weren't wearing your seat belt before you stopped is if you got into an accident and flew out your front windshield or some shit.
@manidgamer4783 Fair, but the plate is always going to come back to a name on the cars registration. If it's reported stolen, no biggie. If it was someone not on the registration or insurance driving that got out, that's a civil case and also just incentivization for normal people to do some policing of their own lives. If you know you're going to get a ticket if some asshole is driving your car and gets out to do something like this, then perhaps you'll think twice before letting them drive your car again. The justice system doesn't have to be so accurate as to have a high def picture of someone's face. Someone related to that car (unless it's already been reported stolen) is going to get a ticket and when it comes to money people set boundaries with their friends and family real quick. Either way, it solves the issue with just a little bit of automation and someone putting a stamp on the letter for the ticket, which I think is pretty good considering how hard it is to generally solve a problem for a population as big and complex as ours.

I drive for a living, and I could NOT agree MORE!!!
Yeah I try to not even be in the same lane, stopping behind them at a light makes me weirdly nervous

The driver behind you is so close to the rear wheel of your motorcycle.đ
It sounds like a frustrating situation.
I think every state and country should have a number one which should be: DONT GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING
They tried that, but they realized how are they going to enforce it?
â@@ajm2487 By retroactively ticketing or arresting the worst offenders.
People just put their phones up and usually avoid those specific consequences, and the only way anyone knows that you weren't wearing your seat belt before you stopped is if you got into an accident and flew out your front windshield or some shit.
â@@anathemat-002the prob with the cams is its barely visibleđ you cant tell that was even a woman

I drive for a living, and I could NOT agree MORE!!! â@zkkauffm9140 your signal is there to alert the rest of the drivers on your intent to change lanes. If clear, you take it.
