Not to be confused with the Bigfoot movie "Night Of The Demon", the British movie "Curse Of The Demon" or the Italian movie "Demons", although I'm sure I'll get to all of those eventually too.

Was Night of the Demons the one with Dana Andrews? I remember watching that with my father in the early 70s on TV, and neither of us could follow the 'plot'.
Edit: My bad, that was '"Curse of the Demon".

1957's Curse of the Demon is actually pretty good IMO. 'Cult' and 'Bad' aren't always the same thing after all. I actually do hope you get to that one fairly soon. What do you think about 2009's Drag Me To Hell being a semi-remake of it?

The first time I saw this, I had been flipping through late night cable, and landed on it a minute before the lipstick disappearing trick. That got my attention, that and the fact that yes, I recognized Linnea, even though I didn't know what the movie was, and the tv guide had a different movie listed at that time.

Night of the Demons is 35 years old!
I remember watching it on CZcams at my second house
I searched for the dvd for a long while
It's not meant to be high art maybe that's why it made a decent profit but ultimately got negative reviews when it first came out
Linnea Quigley was a big 1980s horror star being in this and Return of the Living Dead, she also married one of the practical effects people
Amelia Kinkade who plays the villainous Angela, her aunt was actually one of the Golden Girls Rue McClanahan
The movie was almost called Halloween Party until Carpenter's producers of the 1978 movie threatened litigation
The characters are 80s cliches as you'd expect and some of the acting is stiff but there's fantastic gore and makeup effects for those patient enough to get to the good stuff
And that rocking soundtrack matches the tone
The synthesizer score by Michael Dennis Tenney adds to the spookiness too
Some nice camerawork that resembles Sam Raimi
Plus there's no hint of racism as typical horror movies go
Thanks to home video sales the movie found a much bigger audience
Campy, cheesy, with a side of comedy and punk rock gothic ness and this actually gave me a nightmare
I guess that proves the movie is doing its job, after all it later spawned 2 sequels even a remake

Hey, Brandon. I enjoy watching you being a film critic on these films, especially Night Of The Demons (1988). I think you’re very hilarious. Even when you used the character, Stooge , taking a shit because of having a “ bowl of f$@k”. I would add this:” It’s bad enough that these demons are roaming free in this haunted funeral parlor. Now, you have Stooge stinking up the place.” Keep up the good work, Brandon and thanks. 🤣🎃

I'm not sure it's campy so much as just bad. Camp usually implies some level of self-awareness. I don't think this movie has any. That does contribute to the "what the hell were they thinking?" charm, though.
