I saw 'Lifeforce' when I was 13, and Mathilda May's scenes (for me, at any rate) served to clear up any confusion: I was most definitely heterosexual.
?
I've known since I was 13. But Brandon's review of Barbarella confirmed my bisexuality. I have a crush on the host and title character!
The budget for her wardrobe was easy😀🤑
Hi
You should really watch the deer 🦌 woman of 2005. The masters of horror movie. A must recommend movie you should watch it.👌👍🏽😀😉😊
*Matilda May walks across the broken glass*
Brandon: Ow ow ow ow ow
Is it me or is that joke a lot funnier than it should be? XD
It is XD
Mathilda May is currently 52 and she still looks incredible.
I haven't seen her in anything recently, but it's weird, she looked a lot different in The Jackal, 12 years after Lifeforce. Not different cause older, I guess I didn't recognize her as well. Maybe cause she had clothes on, I dunno.
I noticed it too.
But does she look as incredible as Caroline Munro ? Or 7 of Nine ?
Hell yeah you are right
@@JamesMC04 WAAY hotter than 7 of 9.
This movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. For reasons I'll never understand, my father brought this home to play on a reel-to-reel projector (we were living in Moscow, and the embassy would receive copies of new films ). Near the end of the film, the projector seized up and stopped working. My father was working to get it going again, when all of a sudden the scene with the screaming impaled vampire blasts back onto the screen, causing me to nearly mess myself.
I guess your family was also selling movie copies ? Foreign horrors were very popular in the USSR as bootlegs
I was 9 when I first saw Life Force, I don't think I've ever recovered from seeing an entire film of Mathilda May walking round in the scud.
?
My personal experience with this movie: My mother took me to see this when I was a little kid... suffucive to say it was uncomfortable because of the nudity and the zombies and apocalyptic stuff was horrifying. I actually asked if we could leave, my mother liked it and didn't want to leave...
that seems... _cruel_
Your mom is a boss
Do you still....dream?😂
lucky you, that´s good parenting. Nice day!
@@aaronb2334 Proper cool matey..!
"Mathilda May spends almost the entire movie completely naked" - Do you really need to say anything more? That should have been the movie's tagline.
Canon might have made money on it if they'd tried that.
Great choice. Saw Lifeforce in a UK cinema at release, aged 17. Been looking for naked alien chicks ever since...
come arounf my house. Oh no wait...
You want naked alien chicks, check out the Species movies
"Any room Matilda May is in qualifies as a Tug Bay", LOL. Hilarious! Love that.
Brandon Tenold (Cult Movie Reviews) AND Cecil Trachenburg (GoodBadFlicks) in the same video?! The world is now complete.
I had the same thought when Cecil Trachenburg appeared on a live stream with count jackula lol.
Wait, that's Cecil?
@@Clay3613 Cecil was the voice that cut in at 2:22, so I still have no idea what he looks like.
Wait till you see his review for Blastfighter!
with great effects, effective jumpscares, great shots and Matilda May, how is this movie considered a turkey exactly?
Because it gets... really damn nonsensical later on. Like really freaking out of control with no clear reason for what happens and ultimately spins out of control and becomes a grim and incomprehensible mess. The first half of the film is good... but the second half, right around the time Patrick Stewart (who hated this movie and only did it to pay for his windows) gets introduced, it starts going downhill big time.
Didn't do so well at the box office.
But Steve Railsback is the best part of anything! He's God you know.
Pretty great score as well.
I agree. I loved it when I saw it in the cinema. And the second half makes total sense if you are paying attention. This is the first time I've heard it suggested it was a turkey. Weird.
Mathilda may is still super beautiful.I think she's 53 now.
One of my all time favorite scifis ever. From a time when people still tried to take risks in creating different stuff.
All this talking about turkey makes me wish to see a Turkish Lifeforce.
" * says something possitive about the movie * You know, just like a bad movie!" I'm totally gonna use that when talking about Iron Man 3
Saw this movie through the backseat window of the car at the drive in while my sister and her boyfriend were watching another movie. Loved it ever since. Have the soundtrack on CD!
One of my favorite vampire movies.
Loved the cameo. Big fan of both this channel and GoodBadFlicks :-) Looking forward to part 2 :-)
Matthew Brown Cecil trachenburg's cameo was the last thing i was accepting on this channel.
I wasn't surprised at all. Brandon and Cecil were both in an episode of Radiodrome a while back on Tobe Hooper's Cannon films.
Holy Shit, My two fav cult reviewer's Cecil and Brandon doing a colab, Amazing, Heres to the next 100 vids Brandon!!! Congrats
Just started watching Brandon been a fan of good bad flicks, crossover made me very happy
Where's the part with Cecil?
@@dsandoval9396 2:21 with voice cut
Oh my goodness, it's Simon Gotch from the Vaude Villains!
WWE wrestler? Ha-ha! Not anymore.
now known as Simon Grimm on ROH & the indy curcuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His on MLW right now with the assholes of Contra
Happy Anniversary, Brandon! I'm American but I saw this movie back in 1985, IN ENGLAND, and apparently Mathilda May is also the only thing I remembered about the film because there are whole scenes you showed that are like the first time I'm seeing them! I'm also pretty sure she's the Prime Minister now, but I'm not completely sure.
Happy 100 episode !
Love this movie. Don't forget to mention the fantastic music score by Henry Mancini.
This is in the top 20 horror films of all time! As a kid in 1985 I loved this film so much!!!...
Boom 100 great episodes! Thanks very much for all the hours of enjoyment and nostalgia, and your dedication to the channel. Looking forward to the next 100, cheers dude!
Absolutely loved Lifeforce and rewatching it every other year... for research purposes.
Still don't get it why it wasn't successful.
5 things I got from this video;
1. Happy 100th video! Been a subscriber since Godzilla VS Monster Zero and Turkish Spider-Man on the old channel.
2. Cool to see Gojifan93 make a cameo again.
3. GOODBADFLICKS?!
4. HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET SIMON GOTCH?!
5. My favorite joke so far, "And why are offering her a cookie? She's an alien, not a parrot!"
"SIMON GOTCH" likes cult movies apparently, you can see from his posters.
To paraphrase H.P. Lovecraft, "How can anyone not like Lifeforce?!" (Coincidentally, he was talking about cheese).
Also, tell the bloke who interrupted the video that if he's going to cut in on what you were saying, he should to learn how to pronounce Menahem Golan's name.
Honestly. When i saw Gojifan93 at the beginning of the vid, it put a smile on my face
LOVED this movie as a kid.........for some reason. Seriously I had this COCOON and BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED on one VHS tape and would watch it constantly.
It's the boobs, right?
Gezere9 apparently we had the same vhs
You saw boobs when you were a kid
It’s the naked lady
Great review, Brandon. Also, congratulations on... I will post the rest of this comment on the next video.
Congrats on 100 episodes. Also the alien ship was modeled after an artichoke
2:25 GoodBadFlicks?!?
Awesome!
I just want to congratulate you on reaching 100 episodes. I can't say I've been with you from the beginning, but since I found out about your reviews late last year, I have been enjoying your dead on analysis and rye whit. As a MSTie, your videos really appeal to me abd if it hadn't been for you, I might never have seen Miami Connection or Alienator, great additions to my modern lifestyle. Here's looking forward to the next 100 movies.
I love Lifeforce.
What an awesome episode! Hilarious riffing on one of my guilty pleasure movies! Loved all the guest stars, including the run-in by Simon Gotch.
Congratulations on your 100th video. I've been a fan since I found your review of Godzilla vs Monster Zero. Speaking of big budget bombs with cult followings, I would love to see a review of Flash Gordon.
I've loved this movie since I was little, thank you for not censoring the lovely MM's bottom, and oh yeah, you, Cecil, and Petar the Cinemasochist need to all work together!
I know it gets a bit crazy later, but I really like this movie.
How the hell did you get a WWE wrestler on your show?
The ZombieMan my guess is that they were friends before his WWE career, and said "Hey could you come on the show?"
I remember fangoria mentioning lifeforce and all the gruesome pictures..and the cover... it really sold me on the flick sight unseen. when i did finally get to see it, i was shocked at what an unconventional vampire film it was. years later i fully love and respect that film for just that. they did so much others never even dared to do.
Congratulations on the 100th episode
One day I woke up and your channel was gone. I don't know what happened, but for like a year I was without your videos. And one day, I was looking for a review for this film and your name and face popped up. I have so many videos to catch up on now. So glad to have you back.
Seeing Chris brought a tear to my eye, I just miss the guy I guess
Bonus Point for pronouncing Giger's surname right ! ;)
Oh man, words cannot describe how much I absolutely LOVE this movie! I seem to have grown up with it, watching the VHS, the DVD, then the Blu-Ray from age 16 onward. It even came out two months just before I was born! And fortunately I was lucky that I saw the director-approved international version at first instead of the U.S. version heavily cut by distributor Tristar. Honestly, how can anyone NOT like this film? I'll continue how much I love it after watching part 2.
This is my favorite channel! Ive seen every episode and then waited a few months and am now rewatching them
4:45 Why? That joke was hilarious!
GOJIFAN YOU'RE ALIVE
Based on Brandons review, I finally got myself a copy and watched it this weekend. It does not disappoint! It's nuts at times, but probably the most entertaining film I've seen in a while. The cast, director, effects crew, hell, everyone in this film really gave it their all. And as a Brit, it was interesting to watch a movie like this set over here. Certainly the only film I've seen which features the Lynx helicopter so frequently!
And as for Matilda May? Yep, can't say as I blame Railsback!
Fun Fact: Mathilda May was 19 while filming the movie while her quasi-love interest Steven Railsback was a few months shy of 40.
The similarities with Species are only growing. Natasha Henstridge was 19 and she ended up hooking up with a guy who was just past 40.
Juliette Lewis had just turned 18 when she starred in the remake of Cape Fear and made out with 48 year old Robert De Niro.
having read the novel, which is very good, i think that in all fairness the late author, colin wilson, judged the movie too harshly. the novel is short but the plot is somewhat slow-paced, with most of the "action" taking place toward the end, not unlike bram stoker's dracula, which is mentioned in it, if i remember correctly. the script writers tried to do all that they could to turn the plot into a more intense script, and they did. i do repeat my recommendation to read the novel though.
9:05 In the US theatrical version at this point the Space Girl doesn't speak.
At least we can see Gojifan1993 one more and last time, I wish him success in every that he will do. Congrats Brandon, and I hope come to view the 200th episode of one of my favorite channels, probably the most.
I've been watching these in order since quarantine 2 to 4 videos a day and I'm glad tonhave made it to the 100th video! Thank you Brandon!
Congratulations for another great job, Brandon. May you have many more years of success reviewing movies and with your Band. ¡Un abrazo desde México!
I saw this in theaters and was blown away by it.
Love the cameo Gojifan93, miss u Man!
fun fact this movie came out a year before Halley's comet 1986
I was able to watch this movie when I turned 18. I learned so much of myself after seeing Matilda May's stunning beauty. Whoever said this movie is bad is a special kind of stupid. Lifeforce is a timeless gem of the movie world. The plot, story and characters are A+
oh man! You got a cameo from the goodbadflicks guy! so dope! congrats man!
Finally !!! I love this movie ! About time you got around to review it !!
I absolutely LOVE hooksnfangs artwork
me and my mom were watching TV once and this came on, can't tell youas how awkward that was, also happy 100.
This film had one hell of a soundtrack by Henry Mancini. His use of horns in the opening theme is amazing. It has always been one of my favorite themes. Oh, and I read a comment on another video that this is "the best Quatermass film never made" and I agree. This has the feel of a Quatermass story. I loved the movie from Mathilda May to the plot to the soundtrack. An excellent version of the original theme here: glorious trumpet and french horn included :) czcams.com/video/EsV7TuNMr5M/video.html
8:59 - 9:05 That delivery was excellent. lol
I remember watching this movie when I was 8 (yea my parents didn’t believe in censoring apparently) and I thought it was weird cool and scary, still do 🤗
Love be how Brandon needs a phone and GojiFan doesn't
D Man its called Skype
Ex-WWE Superstar or not, it IS cool to see someone like Gotch show up on a review vid like this one
Hey glad your back, Brandon. .....well...not that you were gone. Love this movie, btw. Scared the piss outta me when I was seven
Great choice! Plus! Two of the best channels having a little cross over!
Cecil Trachenburg from Goodbadflicks is always a win in my books. Great video, i m fan of you n Cecil both but I never thought i will find crossover on this channel. Awesome 👍🏻
Tug Bay.... haha... congrats on the 100th episode. Favorite channel on youtube!
I was 11 when my parents took me to see this...at the drive in, it scared the hell out of me.
Heh! Funny story-since a lot of Giger's art was apparently inspired by things he saw in chronic nightmares, that actually might BE what a Giger wet dream would look like!
(And a most hearty and delighted congratulations to your reaching the big 100!)
This was a well done and funny episode Brandon! Good job! And the movie seems pretty cool too :D
How did you get Simon freaking Gotch to appear on the show? I'm genuinely curious about this one here.
Hey Brandon, just want to say you and your channel are awesome, keep being you and staying true to yourself, love you and your channel. Rock on!
thank you for actually putting the links to the people at cameoed in your video! so frustrating when you watch somebody's video and see a cameo for somebody that seems like they might be a neat idea to check out for a video or two and then have to place mine hunt with the CZcams search bar
Congratulations on you 100th. episode. I hope to see a 100 more in the future. Keep em funny .
I remember having the vampire security guard poster from Fangoria, Pretty decent flick though
I was one of those few that saw this at the cinema, and I loved it from the get-go!! I was always a fan on Cannon, liking even Superman IV!! So there you go... Great review btw!!
I recently watched this for the first time. It is a good choice for 'big thing for anniversary episode'.
Subscribed. Now.
Aaahhhh!!! I love GoodBadFlicks, that's so awesome!!! Two of my fave reviewers together!
Oh, the naked space vampire movie with Patrick Stewart. Almost forgot about that one.
I think it's a great twist on the vampire myth.
I randomly came across this on prime. Saw it was a cannon film I knew I had to watch it. Thanks for the details of the production team. Pretty cool.
Congratulations!
GoodBadFlicks yay!!!!!! Two of my favorite reviewers together.
17:00-17:06 To quote Jay from Deep Space 69 "I just had a nicemare"
25 billion dollars' budget... and the one thing I recalled of this movie after 35 years was Mrs May's bush
so, no part 2 yet? Ok, I got to get this movie fast, because I feel that some unexplainable force compels me to do it.
“Geez, the 80s British version of ‘Bang Bus’ was really weird!”
LOL!!
I was lucky enough to see this at the theater back in 1985. I loved it then, and it's still one of my favorites today.
Fun Fact:
Michael Gothard (who starred in
*"Warlords of Atlantis"* and *"Lifeforce")*
also played a minor Bond villain
Emilie Leopold Locque in John Glen's directorial debut: *"For Your Eyes Only"*
(1981) and would reunite with the director in the 1992 film: *"Christopher Columbus: The Discovery"* (a rival
film to Ridley Scott's *"1492: Conquest of Paradise",* also released in 1992) which was the final film to be produced by Alexander & Ilya Salkind together
and also starred Bond villains Robert Davi & Benicio Del Toro from *"Licence To Kill"* (1989).
"Happy Hooker goes to Hollywood"
What kind of weird ass name is that? LOL
The same kind of weird ass name as "The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington", amirite, folks?
Even more weird ass thing about is that in polish it is "happy little miss" instead "Happy hooker". Top-notch translation XD
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers is awesome too,lol
Golan & Globus best movie producers ever? this is their specialty! 80s sexy movies, vietnam war knockoffs, and they require that every single movie have nudity.
Not every single movie, just the ones that are rated R or unrated due to adult material.
People may say what they want and like what they want, but I still think a good practical always trumps CGI, unless it's uber budget level CGI like Gollum, Hulk and Thanos. And even then, you would need the best actors and directors to make the interactions seen convincing.
And the music of this film also kicks ass! Epic and dramatic.
Like number 555 - Congrats on 100 eps Brandon! I love the way you
say 'sowry' 😉👍
I love vampires, and every afore mentiond film, I've never seen this and now I'm super hyped to.
Great choice, happy 100!
