Probably the channel with the best whisky. Good work
Thank you!
You guys are simply the rare malt kings. Thanks for sharing the greatest drams, insights, and your genuine love and enthusiasm for great whisky. Cheers to you both!
Thank you, appreciate it. Cheers to you MG!!
Wow what an epic review guys!! Holy shit. 40 year old Port Ellen....Jesus. Thanks for reviewing this! Pleasure to watch.
Thank you!! Happy to hear!
This is why I come to Malt Reviews... bottles like this. wow!
Thank you Mike!!! I know too many bourbons lately, lol.
@@maltreviews 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Omg. The best whiskys of the world
It was amazing
Absolutely epic review!!!!
Thank you!!!
Wow, 94-95 sounds like a great bottle. With the customs charges (25% tariff) and shipping charges, I've temporarily halted from any UK purchases. Great review.
Thanks for the cheat regarding the sample. I'm a Port Ellen freak and looking forward to trying it!! Great review too guys!
NP, ENJOY!!!Thank you!!
What a wonderful review!!! The two of you find smells and tastes that are truly unique. There is nobody out there that can even try and emulate your style of NEVER saying a thing to impress or influence anyone. Such pure honesty.
Thanks Cliff! Appreciate the kind words. Cheers to you!
wow,, what a treat, thank you for sharing another wonderful review !! W.E shipping fee is crazy high unless u buy a lots of bottles,,
Great review mates - enjoyed watching it very much :)
Take your time fellas, we don't mind the longer reviews.
Good to know. Cheers!!
I think we all have to remember that Port Ellen was shut down because Coal Ila was the preferred choice of Diageo. I used to drink the G&M 10 year bottlings in the late 80's and early 90's when you could buy it for £25 a bottle, blissfully unaware of what had happened to the distillery. It was my first bought malt whisky. Great review lads but it's by no stretch of the imagination a bargain. The opposite really.
I hear you WT. Yes its def important to keep perspective and just crazy it was how port ellen and brora were closed while their whiskies were aging and approaching that excellent quality level. Thank you and cheers bud!
Watching your extreme respect and love for whisky is really touching and super enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Max!!!!
Spectacular review! This is why I love this channel.
Thank you Steven!!!
Kings!!
Cheers bud!
WOW guys! Thanks for bringing this one out, what a treat
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
dude on the left should have gone into acting. He's got that facial structure that movie producers look for. He could play a James Dean or James bond
Love seeing your excitement on this one guys. Keep making them!
Thank you!!
Great shout on the tasting kits. Just ordered two
Very Nice!! Enjoy!!
This place, this bar, these two connoisseurs and drams like this👌🏼
That's the real four reasons for watching this channel.
It's always a challenge and broadening to me.
Like it so much! Thank you for sharing!
Stay healthy and take care
Greetings, Moses
Thank you Moses, always most appreciated brother!!!!
WOW this was truly epic. You guys are hands down the best reviewers on CZcams and deserve big praise. Thanks for all the amazing content.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching and dropping some kind words. Cheers!
Amazing review of a stunning whisky! Thank you gents! Port Ellen ages the best of any distillate on Islay. Something magical happens as it approaches and passes the 30 year mark. Enjoy that bottle of the 12th release, I honestly believe it was the best of all those Port Ellen special releases. Fingers crossed you get to try the Queen's Visitation bottle someday
Thank you! Yah the 12th release is a very good one. I hope so too!!
Fantastic review guys! Thanks for letting us know about the sample availability. I just ordered that sample set along with Cameronbridge 35yo (to keep the shipping and grain whisky to keep tariff costs down). I really like this setup. It feels like I am listening to you talk about whisky sitting on the other side of the table.
Thank you! Of course! Very nice grabs. Cheers!
Hi guys I was gonna say another great review but this bad boy as you call it is another level review. All the best from the uk.
Thank you Kevin!! All the best!!
Enjoyed along with you guys with my own sample. Amazing stuff! Funny that TWE sells the Islay whisky tasting pack for less than the cost on just the sample (and you get four other excellent samples in the pack!? Go figure!). Looking forward to your reviews of the 7 and 12... I too have the 7, along with 11, 15 and the feis bottling (8.5) which I’m looking forward to cracking one day. Epic review - I definitely get some farmyard on the finish (not Brora but still farmy) along with a little sweet rubber if that’s a thing! Incredible juice.
Also I had the privilege of attending a Port Ellen masterclass at the London whisky show a couple of years ago led by Georgie Crawford where we tasted all PE special releases from 9-17. Incredible experience - I loved the 12 and 17 the best.
@@mikeb4437 Oh wow that is awesome Mike!!
I love that you had the set as well. Yah really weird, makes no sense but lets take advantage. You have some nice bottles. Going to try to get into the samples you sent this weekend. Thanks bud and cheers!!!!
@@maltreviews did you see that Malt Review just put out a review of all three RB Dream Casks plus the RB27?
Great review, guys ! And yes it is my favorite distillery but haven't tried this expression (yet ?), despite it is yes my favorite distillery...I can't complain though, as over the years I could try no less than 36 expressions (which gave me arguments to set it as my favorite in a way, as only a handful were just above "good", and all others between "awesome", "stunning" & "stellar"). I did recently a bottlekill of an indie bottling of PE & finally decided to share it with 2 people that barely tried any PE (one i'm sure, the other not totally sure) & keep none for me, as...ok...I still have an unopened one (but alas not an OB one, and bottled only at 43 % abv), but I still dream of getting me one, once I win to a lottery for sure, and great choice btw, for the bottles you showed at the beginning (& you can see the 12th Release on one of my videos called "15 Exceptional Whiskies to try before you die & affordable alternatives "...if you wanna have look, I'll be curious of your opinion of some bottles there...). Can't complain for sure as new generations of reviewers have no idea how great this distillery is ! Cheers, guys ! (PS I wonder if I've not even quoted you in it, btw...)
Thank you!! 36 Port Ellens is very impressive indeed. Will def watch that video.
Cheers Greg!!!
@@maltreviews You're very welcome...(only 3 so far in my collection, but one left only) I started to taste around 20 years ago & had the chance to meet big collector's & get friends with some of them, while in whisky shows high end stuff were way more available to taste at some occasions (because as you know demand was less important than now too), and thanks in advance for checking that video (link below) but please take my high ratings there with a big pinch of salt as I don't score as many reviewers & for me it doesn't really make sense when you get over 97 or 98/100 (I added a link to my scoring system in the description....), unfortunately I can't change it completely after around 4000 tastings, but I'm currently considering dropping partly or completely rates at least for my videos...Comments for me are more important than scoring. Also this is my longest video ever, but I added a timing in the description....Cheers !
Do you guys buy these rare malts? It's unfathomable how you guys always can get your hands on one of these gems.
Yes we buy all the bottles we review. We are always hunting for gems and buy from auctions as well. Cheers!
@@maltreviews cheers! those are some expensive beauties. Mind recommending some auction sits? I mostly use whisky auctioneer myself.
@@MegaSodom That is perhaps the most reputable one right now. Check out scotchwhiskyauctions, just-whisky and whisky.auction as well.
Malt Reviews thank you fellas ! 🙏🏽
How does this channel not have a million subs
Trying to release more content without long periods with no reviews to hopefully help the channel grow. Really appreciate the Love. Cheers!!!
@@maltreviews do you guys know when the US will be getting the Springbank 17 Madeira cask?
@@philippemendez6701 Not sure if we will and if we do it will be expensive. Springbanks are coming in at more than double the price compared to UK lately.
I have no words 😶
Cheers bud!!!!!!
@@maltreviews such epic ness... it’s awesome 👏
The intertrade ones are on another level in terms of intensity and power (Salt blast, thick oils, yellow fruits) but perhaps less complex and nuanced as compared to these older releases where the tertiary flavours show more. IA parallel can be drawn to the earlier 30yo broras vs the 37/38s. What do you guys personally prefer? brora or port ellen? looking forward to your 72 rare malts review!
That was a great review. Could you please advise which is better: the 40 year old 9 rogue casks or the 1979 Port Ellen 37 year old, 17th release? The ratings online are about the same (0.2-0.3 difference) however the price difference is quite big (£3000-£3500).
I also have a personal conundrum with these two: I was born in 1979 (so that's why the vintage year) and my son was born in 2017. So...
With a bit of a push, I could buy either of them but obviously I want the best for the money.
I would love to taste, but honestly I don’t think I’m worthy due to lack of experience (relative to the both of you). I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to fully appreciate it. This dram deserves respect! Do you guys have any advice how to approach these epic whiskies? It would be interesting to hear your opinion on this plus how to prepare the palate :)
We will def do a video on how to prepare palate as that is very long response for now. As to weather or not your ready is relative of course but you def want to explore many many whiskies before one can fully appreciate the complexities of a whisky like this. I would say regardless of how much experience you have though you will love this whisky if you enjoy whiskies from Islay.
Great review! How many bottles you getting?
Thank you! We were just joking, just this sample.
For those with more money than sense.
Next level sh**, this is the sh**t best review. You guys should have a ig or fb, sometimes i just want to read your reviews.
Brora vs Port Ellen? I heard Brora opens up better with age
That's like picking your fav child but if I had to choose then brora.
everybody knows whisky is better in the morning, so this is definitely a gimmick. You should try that PE in the evening, after a nice chili or a garlicky dish.
