I know where there is a 2014 because I have stared at the same bottle in a LCBO cabinet, holding my lottery ticket for the last 3 years.

Ridiculously expensive. Fuck Diageo for closing Port Ellen to begin with.

Always wonder but at what ABV does the alcohol just overpower the smell and taste of the liquor? I admire those who can enjoy such elegant liquor. Cheers

That would be different for different people. If the alcohol is overpowering, add water until it isn't.

“Tobacco Tin” “Leather Chair” how do you know what that tastes like?

Tasting notes are often what the whisky is reminiscent of to the reviewer based on their experience of smell and taste. I might find things like brine, seaweed, earth, hay and leather oil in a peated whisky.

Horst, polish your English. Your pronunciations of "precious", "citrus" and some other words are worse than Werner Herzog, haha. Also your ad hoc translation of "Sorbet" as sorbet and not sherbet was funny.
