Great review of an exceptional bottle. It’s a shame they don’t make them like this in the core range anymore. This would have been around £100 from the late 1980s to late 1990s ;)
Nice review! the only issue i have with macallan/ glen grant/ glenfarclas etc is that yes, i get a sense of age and beautiful interaction with the cask when i drink them, but whats missing is a sense of distillate character and sense of place. it almost seems as though these expressions succeed because in a way, the distillate itself doesnt do much.
Beautiful entry. It’s almost a sport to bash Macallan for their OB retail prices (I’m guilty of it too) but let’s face it, when you enjoy an old bottle of their product like this it all makes sense.
