    I believe it! I was Army and during reception stay they detailed groups to the kitchen, just to help with serving, food prep and clean up and it was BRUTAL! Dishwasher room was fun but not the job I would choose AT ALL! One of the girl got a really bad burn/rash type on her hands, they had her peeling potatoes and cleaning the pots in extremely hot water and she even had gloves. I felt horrible for her, she could barely sleep that night. And cleaning protocols and regulations once the day is over is very strict!

    When I was a Corpsman, I used to go to the Mess Deck to check on my Marines doing Mess Cranking. The CS's (MS's back when I was in) were really cool and would hook me up with extra cookies and I would hook them up with Aspirin and Motrin. The CS's had it pretty good when the Marine compliment was aboard ship, so their hours were not as bad.

    It is so sad to hear this because it just means the A-school for those who went to CS didn't actually really succeed. I was told that when I join Boot, I will come in as an E-3 since I have a foreign college diploma. But I am DEFINITELY going to do my all to be able to rank up as fast as I can. CS is my second choice for my rating. My first choice is GM because unfortunately when I took the ASVAB that ACTUALLY counted, my score was just 6 points shy of my target rate. My heart sank but I don't feel like taking the test again. More power to you🙏

    Well said. As an old navy seaman I know that I looked forward to going to the mess deck for some good food. The friends that I had came heavily from the the CS ranks, we shared berthing on the CVN-70 USS Carl Vinson. Good times. Good sailors. Good chow. Thanks to all the early risers and dedicated food service professionals that, at least 20 years ago, we in the Navy could comfortably pride ourselves on being the best fed of the armed service branches. Lot's has changed, maybe, but it is my opinion that the food prepared and served for the navy personnel from the honorable culinary specialists was so much better than what the other branches had to tend with, the Navy looked like it would probably always be eating best . That had a bit of weight to factor in to my choice of service branches when I originally enlisted FC (Fire control), and after switching into an administration rate, Personnelman (PN), had the privilege of having some mighty fine sailors in close quarters as we shared berthing on the Chucky-V. I don't recall ever getting food borne illness while eating food coming from the kitchen. Thanks to you, and thanks to all who served.

      @admiralmurat2777 Před 3 lety +2

      You start work at 6:30AM and get a one-hour lunch break. You will end your regular workday at 4:00pm. You will be assigned tack hours for study usually on average 2-3 hours a night you will have to do in order to keep a competitive GPA. Some maybe even require 4 hours extra study every evening. You will always be moving onto a new subject every single day so you must learn the content as soon as it is given to you. This is on top of keeping your barracks clean, miscellaneous certifications, maintaining PRT fitness standards, sat uniforms, car maintenance, and simply trying to prevent being phase stripped which limits your abilities and freedoms. Also, it is typical for entire classes to be punished collectively and lose their privileges even when they do conflict with necessary things you must complete in your life. You will deal with many people both students, staff, and instructors contemplating and committing suicide. Many are on antidepressants especially the instructors who teach day in and day out to simply get shit on for the smallest of mistakes. Also, many of the nukes will be 18 fresh out of high school with no common sense and socially awkward as fuck thereby leading to a lack of forming real friendships or bonds beyond mere platonic ideals. Also, you have to deal with the COs covid memos which are nothing but evil and unrealistic which is unfortunately forced upon him by an unscientific and political power structure. You will always be lacking sleep and be encouraged to drink energy drinks that will cause health problems and early onset of diabetes while simultaneously dealing with a Chain of Command that denies that there have ever been any true suicide attempts verbatim at their town hall meeting even when an instructor the following week puts a bullet in his head. The bonus is nothing but a trap to lock you into the highschool from hell. Don't do it.
