You guys are living like this so everyone else in America don’t got to. Thanks for your service!🇺🇸
Latrell Sutton that really means a lot thank you!!
12 years of ship life! Appreciate your sacrifices.
Wow! My son is a Marine that served on a Navy ship. It’s really interesting to see what it was like. He complained about the head all the time. Said it was filthy. Thank you for your service! You have sacrificed so much for us.
He was not lying!! It can get rough of the ship. Your welcome and thank you for watching my video!!
I’m weak as hell watchin this, Navy def not for me. “Doo doo splashin round while u tryin to shower”. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

It's M3 lmfao
The way he described the living conditions was hilarious especially the part about the showers and toilets. I was absolutely dying of laughter. But it is also making me reconsider my decision to join the Navy.
Yeah it gets real on the ship. I’m glad you got a laugh out of it🤣🤣
I would go airforce
Not all berthing space are like this. They have no respect for them selves let alone respect for the Navy.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794I tried Air Force but I got disqualified due to my ADHD
Homie you had me dying when you said “you trying to take a shower while two dudes are taking a dump”. Mad respect from a retired Air Force guy.
I served in the 90's. On board 2 different ships... Thank God our berthing area's never looked this bad.... Who ever was is in command on this ship should have been relieved. Absolutely disgusting. We never left shit laying around whether we were at sea or in port. All our racks were made and if a toilet was clogged it was roped off and it was fixed/repaired/unclogged same day. Poor leadership on-board that ship bro.
E Mail thank you for your service. This was decent looking compared to deck berthing..lol but I understand where you are coming from.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Is that a Sub? What type of ship is that?
Johnny4ME2U yes it’s a ship a LPD class ship.
E Mail lol I was thinking the same thing. No discipline in this berthing area by this mans description
Agreed I was on ship (G-4) in the 90s and my berth had about 30 guys and we shared a head with near 300. Other than often having to wait for a shower, sink or toilet we had clean squared away head and berthing.
My boyfriend just went to Basic Training this week he’s in the Navy as well and this video definitely gives me insight on the way he’ll be living while he’s away.

we had to clean our head every day every bed made and nothing hanging out times has changed
Those L-Shaped racks were just a concept when left the Fleet in 1996 to go recruiting. They look pretty nice but I always loved the closed in feeling of the older style coffin racks.
They are nice and they come with outlets!! Thank you for your service!!
Wow dude, great video! Thanks for showing me why I should join the Air Force!
Buddy anytime bro but it’s not to late to join the navy!!
Things have changed...I never seen our heads dirty because we had compartment cleaners (E1-E3) who also took care of the head. My ship was commissioned in 1941 and decom'ed in 1991. I was on it from 1972-1977...When I first reported aboard I had to sleep in a sky rack WWII style with canvas bottom and a thin piece of foam rubber about 12' off the deck. The coffins were a little different but about the same and both was comfortable. There was no curtains and there was a piece of metal sheeting full of holes about 1/4" that separated you from your neighbor. The other thing I noticed was regular doors. Most of ours were watertight..Thanks Shipmate for the look inside.
We also had cleaners every morning but towards the end of the day this how the heads end up.
Wow!!! Thanks for the tour. I hope you don't get into trouble for showing us around.
Onochie Afigbo your welcome I hope so either🤞🏾
Oh my gosh! This video just shows why you should respect the military
Thank you so much!!

Wow Dave Harris, I know exactly what you mean. I was in the Navy in 1981 and I experienced exactly what your video shows. I hated the Navy but I did make some great friends when I was in. It was a good experience for me but no way I wanted to do this for more than 4 years. Anyone who can live this kinda life for 20 years deserves a lifetime pension IMO. It is a hard life for sure. Thanks for your video. Your video shows exactly what living aboard a naval combat ship is like.

Prison at sea... The perfect description... But you won't have to worry about getting shanked you may get your stuff stolen though... I was on USS America aircraft carrier in the 70s and I was third class petty officer in charge of birthing the last year-and-a-half Of Enlistment... the head... I never had a backed-up toilet or a spunky moldy shower... the birthing area was shipshape also oh... and I had no watches out to sea which was great everybody called me clean CleanTreen and occasionally called me latrine and every time we pull into port in Norfolk I would get out on parole and stay at an Hotel on the weekends... I just did my time and got out... Good and bad times
Those L racks are so much bigger than the coffin I stayed in at a midway overnight I did. Thinking about joining at 25. Wish I got in at 17 or 18, I'd be 1/3 way to life benefits now. Been appreciating your videos, they offer good insight. Hope you and your family are well

The navy was on the top of my list but you are making me have second thoughts with that bathroom
Andrew Townsend cleaner than my school
you should go to navy if its something you really want to do.
Join the Air force. These living conditions are not right for humans if we keeping it 100. If you feel that the bathroom is giving you second thoughts you shouldn't join.
How long did you have to stay on the ship? Does everyone sleep on the ship 1st deployment?
Thank you very much for showing this side of things. I’m in the process of joining. Is there like a gym or something to help take your mind of the boredom?
Brother you made the best decision in your life serving in the United States navy this country will always respect you. My life as a ex navy veteran has been one success after another. You can't see it now but wait until you get that honorable discharge you'll see
thank you for your service how many years did you do?
Thank you for your service shipmate. I'm a retired Chief Boatswains Mate. I would not ever allow my sailors to live in those conditions. I was in their berthing compartments everyday making sure the heads and berthing area was immaculate. If there was a stopped up, Toilet I'd have my engineering chief counterparts getting it straight. As far as cleanliness, my sailors were responsible for that and I ensured those heads and showers remained spotless. How could your XO allow those conditions. I think the Navy of today is not the same Navy I served. Your Chief should have been demoted!
Damn, that is the most unsat command I've ever seen. I feel bad for you all having to deal with those conditions. I was fortunate enough to be in a 21 man berthing onboard USS Supply AOE-6 during her commissioning days,so everything was still new in the mid 1990's. Seeing the berthing and head in that condition makes gas station bathrooms look nice.I hope you have it better at your next command,Shipmate.

Hi! tks for video! Could you tell me one thing about the life abord, please? Do Navy ships have vending machines room? If so, is it working well? (I ask because the ship shake and have salt corrosion ...) Thank you!
I had my own room in the USAF and shared a bathroom with a guy who was a germ-a-phobe who scrubbed the bathroom every day.
WootTootZoot must have been nice!!
Man, that compartment looked tore up. Don’t wanna make any assumptions since I don’t know the details of what was going on that particular day, but damn!
Anyway as far as falling out of the top rack. I remember my father was a bit of a roller and he went into the bone yard and took out a couple of middle seat seat belts from a bunch of junked cars. Before that he used two belts to hold himself into the rack
That’s cool of your father!!
What ship you on? I was on the USS HOLLAND AS32 submarine tender 1991-1995 we had about 2000 on board male female mix.
How do you wake up for shifts? This is a big problem for me since I can sleep through a train horn.

where do you store the rest of your stuff ?thats so little space omg. im thinking getting a storage unit is the best way to go..
maimai c that’s it just pack what you really need. Some divisions got their own spaces on the ship where you could stow things but that’s pretty much it. You have to pack lite.
Thanks for sharing Dave but that 3rd toilet brah😂😂😂🙊🙊🙊
Christal Jones your welcome and yes it smelled like death..lol
You think that bathroom would be spotless from what the stories the old timers tell i guess this new generation has let standards fall its a shame.
Fat Ass yeah it ain’t like the old days the sailors now are soft and have no pride!!
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 I'll have to agree with that. What a shit hole.
So much for ship shape. When did it come to be you could leave your bedding area in such a mess? What happened to being able to bounce a quarter of the tight bedding? This is not the Navy I recognize at all.
Not all ships get that much storage space it all differentiates on CVN-69 Dwight d Eisenhower we have a coffin rack and a stand up locker. On the CVN 75 Harry s Truman they have racks that have nobody in the top racks normally empty for your sea bag. That’s the air department berthing though so it all differentiates and they all look different as well.
king_jojo21 oh ok good to know!!
I’m assuming you set an alarm to wake up when you have to. So, How do you wake up at a certain time without waking up everybody in the berthing?
Jadyn Perrotta yes most people use their cell phone as a alarm.
The ship calls Reveille every morning at 0600 to wake everyone up. It’s pretty much like someone telling us to wake up over the
Intercom.
I served 22.5 years in the Navy and 19.5 years were spent onboard ships. None of my ships were in this condition! How in the world would the U.S. Navy allow these conditions? Why would this to be uploaded to CZcams? Ridiculous!

Everyone changes out in the open.
That's a good questions..
This is some real stuff. Actually looks more spacious than some of the bethings I saw on carrier ships. Just curious, do you enjoy life on board a ship? Do people get seasick much and how's the food/gyms and stuff?
While im on the ship i hate it, but some things i do miss about living on board. I still get sea sick when the seas get too rough a lot of the newer sailor get sick. You start to get use to it after a while.
The gyms are decent we had 4 gyms on my ship. Its just get packed when the Marines are with us. The food is decent some days are better than others.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Cool, I appreciate the quick response. Rough waters was kinda what I was worried about but if I can get used to it then I should be good to go. Btw, I also hear you guys don't get much sleep. Or that you work pretty much all day. That true? Also, hows the internet. Been thinking about kicking up a CZcams channel especially after I enlist.
If you want to start a CZcams channel i would do it but it will be tough will on deployment, but when you hit the ports in different countries you can use the wifi out in town to upload your videos.
The Official Dave Harris Alright. I appreciate all the advice bro. I’m taking a lot of mental notes lol. You’re a cook too, just like my dad say he was when he was in the navy. That’s another big one to me because I gotta have my sports lol

Your welcome
Do every rate have assigned berthing or it can be randomly assigned? Also, are all berthings air conditioned? Just curious!
Ya each division got their own berthing. We actually shared with medical so sometimes you got 2 divisions sharing. In the event they don’t have a rack available you will go to a division’s berthing that has room. There is AC, it’s not considered a necessity though lol..that beich do go out sometimes underway.
I cried,I laughed so hard, if you know what this man is talking bout, then you know!
Lol..straight facts. It’s real out there on them ships.
Man being a submariner I’d love to have a place to sit up in my rack! And 4 lockers?? We have a 5-6 inch tall flat pan and a single locker 😂
I bet you do. Idk how you can be on a sub. I’m not about that life
Hey thanks for the insight nice to see the real side of things. How many MA’s are there on a ship and do different rate share birthings?
Julius J Caesar on small ships rates share berthing, but I hear on carriers most rates have their own bee things. On this ship there was only 2 MAs a senior Chief and a first class. Most MAs are on shore duty.
The Official Dave Harris thanks bro keep up the good work
Julius J Caesar no prob thank you
Do you only share a berthing with others of your rate or it doesn't matter?

Michaela Mazerolle it’s a LPD class ship
You pulled no punches lol...As a former cs2, you pretty much told it like is!
stephen green I’m just speaking facts..lol
How exactly does PT work under these conditions?
What’s the point in having so many people on board a ship? In my mind you only need like idk 100 people to drive the ship and clean it etc. why is there like 1000-1500 people on a ship?
because they need to be able to give people time off to sleep, and if multiple people with the same job were to get sick then they would be undermanned. they have people working at all hours of the day
I LL give you less than week of running an LPD with 100 people for crew before the ship sinks .
I was on an ammunition ship in 1973 we had a crew of 350 enlisted and 50(I believe) officers. You have to remember, there are so many jobs to do onboard ship. Food services such as cooks, bakers, and such, Electricians, Gunners, weapons, radar, Laundrymen, Communications, Medical, Engineers, Engine, Boatswains mates, clerks, Payroll, and many more, Navy ships for the most part are self sufficient and are like a town or city, Most jobs run 24 hours a day, (not all) and some sleep while others work, there is always, chipping, painting, basic repair and preventive maintenance going on....Plus ontop of that when at sea, we stood watch besides our regular jobs.
When you sleep at night does the ships provide Air Conditioning. I need AC to sleep lol
Yes they have AC the berthing can get pretty cold.
The Official Dave Harris I feel like the top beds need some type of fence that can be pulled up or down to keep people from falling., Especially if the ship is moving a lot. Just a thought.
NS R they should but the ship doesn’t rock that much probably on smaller ships. It’s still a long way up if you fall off in your sleep.
Thanks for the insight my brother. How are you operational with that kind of grooming sir?
Marlon Antone I know it’s bad. It’s not like this all the time tho.
There are pros and cons when it comes to joining the Navy. When one goes into a Navy recruiters office for the first time, the recruiter will mainly tell you the pros, and try to avoid telling you the cons as much as possible. But some recruiters might caution you if you get too excited. Having been in the Navy myself, I learned of what it may be that might drive some to go UA, or as far as suicide. Working hours on a Navy ship can be extremely long, especially when you are out at sea, or as some call it, under way. A lot of brochures may tell you that you can puck any job you want, but the guarantee is the technical, or "A" school that might train you for that job, but once you finish your school, you may end up wherever they need you, which could be a totally different job, one that you might really hate, and although most sailors do get to jot down their choices of where they would like to be stationed on a "Dream Sheet", very few might be lucky enough to get one of their choices, but again, most will be sent to wherever they are needed, even if it was not one of the choices they put on their Dream Sheet.
The CO of that ship should be relieved immediately. I was on a Gearing Class Destroyer in the mid 60's and we never had poop sloshing all over the place. Anything out of order was repaired/replaced same day. And the showers are disgusting. Does anyone ever clean them? The bunks are a mess. This ship is a disgrace. Jesus Christ, does anyone ever inspect this place?
OldSalt lol.. I just got it at a bad time. I guess it’s a new navy.
Hi , I’m still in high school and I joined a whole year before I graduate , and I am so worried that I picked a horrible job which is a CS. I’ve been hearing so much negative 😢 I ship to basic June 3. About a week after graduation lol
Curlisha Robinson I personally don’t like being a cook but that’s my opinion it’s different for everyone. If you check out my other videos I go over the pros and cons of being a CS.
With jobs, do the job that you’d like to do so if you like cooking, be a cs, everyone recommends you do a job that can transfer over in the civilian world, but if you’re miserable doing it then it doesn’t matter what job transfers in the civilian world, for example ht can be plumbers when they get out, but if you hate cleaning crap, then why would you want to be a plumber in the civilian world? Hm don’t transfer over in the civilian world, I had to go to school to get my nursing degree after I got out, but I loved being an hm. Don’t worry about the bs, every job in the military has bullshit you’ll deal with, just do what you want to do
Julie Riddick wise words💯
You will do alright if you just say "Yes Sir" and do what you are told. Do the best you can at WHATEVER and keep your eye out for any opportunity to improve yourself and help your supervisor look good.
The same goes for any job in civilian life. Always hold YOURSELF to a high standard.
When you get out, use the GI Bill for school. Good luck and God Speed. (US Navy CTT2 1967-1971)
Mike H I agree with most of what you say, but do not say “yes sir/ ma’am” unless they’re officers. They now require you to call them by rank. Also, don’t make your supervisor look good, make yourself look good in front of your supervisor. I’ve seen it when I was in, being passed from promotion while my supervisor just used what I did on his brag sheet and evals.
Hey I have a question, I’m 23 and I’m looking to enlist ASAP after I complete this semester before spring ... even though I’m not finished with my degree I understand I’ll be going in as a lower rank .... when do we officially get to enroll back in college ???
Chyna Grays you can start college as soon as you get to your first command if you can manage the time. But you will be paying out of pocket. If forget how long you have to be in the military before they pay you to go to school.
Decieded to just get my degree before joining 1 year later lol
1:46 I noticed the job symbols on the paper. Do different rates get there own rooms or room together in a different group? Also how the internet on the ship? (If there is any)

Yes sir I kinda have a few thou. From Rescue swimmer and Driver to SARC and a Navy Seal.
Gerrod Brown oh shit that’s wassup go hard or go home..lol
Yo i want to join a military branch and i always wanted to join the navy. Is it worth it? Like mentally did it change you or is it not even worth it anymore
Same. From this video it doesn’t seem worth jt
I’m a CSS2 cross rating to IT. damn man... shit looks just like a sub berthing. Great , can’t wait.

About to enlist in the Navy (hoping for AC!). Now, I'm not throwing shade, but I would think that Navy leadership wouldn't allow THAT kind of uncleanliness to fly in the service. I'm not Mr. Clean over here, but if it's to the point where feces-infested water spills into the SHOWER AREA . . . that's a problem. I was homeless this past year, and even the shelters had enough sense to do that much. To stop toilet water from forming puddles all over the place. Are you at liberty to share what ship this is? I appreciate the video either way. Definitely a real video without frills.
Getting Better I get what your saying but when I did this video it was in the middle of the day when everyone was working it’s not always like this but I do wanted you guys to see the ship no sugar coating. We could do a little better with cleanliness it’s just be so much going on when we’re out in the waters it takes time. This is a LPD class ship I won’t put the name out tho.
Thank you for watching by the way🙏🏿
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 LPD? I might not be on it then seeing as how ACs are on bigger crafts (for the obvious reason). I'm happy to watch though. Keep showing more of the ship. If I end up going ship duty first instead of shore, I was hoping to go on the new Ford supercarrier they're working on. Will you be uploading more content?
Getting Better yes I will so stay tuned and thank you for watching.
Is it true that u only sleep there when your on the water and not the ship port ?
Yeah when you in port you sleep at home unless you have duty then you sleep on the ship.
I'm having 2nd thoughts joining the navy, but here is the thing I'm not that talkative and outgoing. I'm aware of the basic fundamentals and that is I have to obey my higher ranks, do what I'm told to do. I'm aware that I have to be presentable with everybody and say good morning here and there, but I'm not a comedian I dont have over a million jokes store in my head where I'm going to keep a lively atmosphere, so with that being said you think I will have trouble blending in and should not join, or you think I'm still good to join?
You should still join. There are so many different people you will meet. You will find people you click with in the navy.
Yo I thought the military was all about being clean
Glory Manz believe it or not we clean sooo much in the navy..lol.
I start the (British)Navy basic training in 5 month. From what I hear tho our ships ain’t that bad
Boris Johnson that’s great. How long is you guys basic training?
Yo thanks for the reply and it’s 10 weeks basic training and 30 weeks phase 2 training
Boris Johnson damn y’all trainings are long. Our training is 8 weeks then we go to school for our different jobs. Do you know what job your going in as?
Yeh I’ve applied for a marine engineer which is basically a technician (keeping the ships electricity and engine running) what job do you do in the navy?
@@jp-lw5gl thank you for your service from an American Sailor ! 🇺🇸 🇬🇧💪🏼 I say thank y’all because y’all are NATO we keep the peace amongst our countries we’re brothers in other words ! Hooyah !
Its not just a job its an adventure !
Thank you for convincing me to become an officer. And a cryptologic warfare officer at that; I don’t want to deal with that. Out of curiosity what type of ship is this?
Your welcome and this is a LPD class ship.
