@@JM23007 Peak, so probably not even for 1 minute. For a longer period about 1 horsepower. Many engines can take 3 times the power, for a short period tho, otherwise it will overheat or blow up lol.

The Mclaren F1 is still one of the most gorgeous mid-engined cars ever made.
A small correction to be made, the SSC ultimate Aero was the world record holder for 3 years between 2007 to 2010 ( It even held the Guinness world record for those years), It was only the super sport Bugatti that held a world record. Also of no relation, There's some pretty cool land car record speeds from jet cars that went over 700 MPH on the land, insanely crazy feat, you guys should check out the ThrustSSC
I don't think those SSC jet cars count since they're not production cars. Probably why they didn't include that 1930s race car with 500+hp that was in forza horizon 4, I forgot the name sorry

Everyone thinks it’s Kai-Ron because that’s how you pronounce it in Greek which is the original language that the name comes from, the French decided to change it because they’re annoying and now you get people being annoying about how to pronounce a German/French car with a Greek name

In 2007, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT held the record for 257,41 MPH until the Veyron Super Sport came along.

Fun Fact: None of those superfast cars of recent years can actually go 250, 270, or 300 mph. Why, you ask?
They simply can't go for a full hour at those speeds. Just to set the proper perspective: The Veyron SS at top speed would completely drain it's fuel tank within 12 minutes, the tires would give out roughly within 15 minutes.
So, 5 to 6 pitstops and major maintenance within an hour and you are no faster than a cheap midrange family sedan covering 300 miles.
The true mastery of building a fast car would be to create a fast car that can actually cover large distances in comfort at high average speed.
Do a video on the most liked supercars, I bet the aventador might be topping that list

Yeah. Actually RUF achieved some criteria to be recognized as car manufacturing company and not professional tuners like Hennessey. Forgot where I found that info.

RUF didn't tune cars. They toke just the basic of the car, developed own parts and engines and made their own series cars and yes, their cars was made in series.
It's simple, in Germany if a tuner changes more than certain percentage of the car (I think it's 20% or 25%) they can put their own name on it and are considered a car manufacturer and not a tuner. For example other than RUF, Alpina and ABT are also considered manufacturers. RUF has tuned 911's to just a bit more than that necessary percentage but they also build cars almost from scratch which they used Porsche parts for as well as a ton of their own.

AWD has it's perks and I prefer it over RWD/FWD. It does have more driveline loses and thus may not be the way for every car. But damn does it help make the car more stable under power.

My dad bought a 52 Jaguar xk120 roadster at 21 years old. It looked identical to the one shown but with red interior and no number. He bought in 1960 and it was with us and working (kinda) until 2019 when I finally sold it to get him the best care money could buy. RIP pops.

I met Gerald Wiegert when he introduced the Vector W-2 twin turbo at a car show in LA. I actually sat in the W-2 (black) at the show. I think I still have the investor packet and literature they handed out that day. Astonishing car, super low profile. I am not sure if 242 mph was the goal but I do know that Car and Driver tested the car and recorded a 220 mph run.

The main reason why Ruf shouldn't be on this list (the same reason why they never made the list back in the day either) . . Because they are not a car MANUFACTURER . . They only tune up already existing cars MANUFACTURED by a DIFFERENT company (Porsche).
Back in the 80's and 90's they were always in the same category as Hennessy, Callaway, Braubus and all of the other POST - manufacturer companies.

Agreed. The real hero in all this honestly are the street legal tires by Michelin. Cars have (unsafely) been doing 300mph for a while on a track in a straight line. Doing it on a production car is a whole other feat.
300+ mph was first achieved on 3rd semptember 1935 on Boneville Salt flats 311 mph in 1937 350 mph in 1938, 369 in 1939 :)

I noticed that you didn't list either the Dodge Charger Daytona (1969 and 1970). The Dodge Charger Daytona was rated to have .02 less of coeffient of drag rated at .29 compared to it's sister car, the 1969 Plymouth Superbird which was rated at .31 coefficient of drag. In fact, on the newly constructed Talladega International Motor Speedway in 1969 (TIMS haha lol), a 426 Hemi V8 Powered Dodge Charger Daytona won the Talladega 500 on it's first race and it was the first car to clock in over 200 mph. The 426 Hemi was rated to have 425 hp and 490 ft/lbs of torque. However, it was rumored to be closer to 500 hp. Now both of the Charger Daytona and the Superbird came with the 426 Hemi V8 and an even bigger engine, and that engine was 440 cubic inches and that engine is the 440 Magnum V8. However, the 440 Magnum didnt have as much power as the 426 Hemi. The 440 was rated to have 375 hp and 482 ft/lbs of torque. The crown of Fastest car would go to the Charger Daytona for the years of 1969 up to 1992 when the Bugatti EB110 was released.
